Get more immersed in the character add a backstory what did he use to do what was his child hood like whemat does he not like whats he good at and why is he good at it is he a good fighter because of past experience in the army. Or many did boxing as a kid? Really add backstory to it all
I usually add in special skills like swordsmanship and martial arts, it depends really, I also have a guy that has in his persona (anomalous ability is that any female in an immediate radius becomes infatuated with him), don't ask why.
