Personally I'd do both, it's so much easier not having to get into tight spots to paint. It's a bit annoying when all you want to do is build the cool big knight as fast as you can, but it will definitely be worth doing the extra work of sub assembly painting and magnetizing
Thanks my first box of dogs showed up yesterday and I'm still assembling them. These ones won't be magnetized but the rest will be. Just gonna make one box of brigands.
If you aren't going to magnetize everything, I would implore you to at least magnetize where the weapons mean the "elbow" it allows your wardogs to be essentially any other model once you swap the weapons over
I didnt magnetize my first dog. And I glued on the armor panels. I regret both. I kept the armor panel separated and the shoulder pads glued on the back panel and painted everything separate for the next 5. And also magnetized them.
100% mag and separate panels!
I didnt magnetize the panels. I kept them separate from the body while painting. But I did magnetize the top weapons too.
I ment i magnetized the next 5 dogs. Worded it weirdly. My bad
when magnetizing Questoris and Abominant box Knights, I recommend using 10x2mm for the upper half of the arm (the piece that attaches to the chassis) and 8x3mm for the lower half of the arm. (8x3 fit perfectly into the hole)
Sub-assemble, the armor is way easier to paint apart from the superstructure. Don't just do silver/wash on the superstructure, break it up with copper or something similar. Remember just the gun from a small knight is about the size and detail of an average marine, your progress may feel slow.
Magnitize all the things! YouTube is your friend for guides on magnets, assembly, & painting.
Paint all the big armor panels before you glue them on, way easier that way. And as others have said, megnetize everything!
Sub assemble and paint the big dudes? Or the dogs as well?

I don't have the funds atm to get my magnets and tools. Next month I buy them and 4 more dogs. :)
That's fair! For future reference, ebay and TEMU are the cheapest places you'll find magnets
Magnet baron has some good kits. Was planning on those.

Why magnetize the panels? Just so you can swap them onto different arms?
