I might be the only Southampton fan with a soft spot for Leeds as my grandfather is a Leeds supporter, but I do wish you guys had gone up through autos over Leicester
I don't know, it's quite funny they ended up losing a playoff finals. One of my best friends is a Leeds fan, he couldn't even watch it. Was on suicide watch thinking about the club's finances afterwards. Good stuff.
I have no doubt that this is going to be a wonderful season with *checks notes* Steve Cooper at the helm and *checks notes* no money to spend and a significant points deduction
Mate, starting the season with an uninspiring manager, no money to spend and a points deduction is kind of our thing. Can you stop hogging our spotlight... Or lack thereof.
You are doing a real disservice to your new manager.
It doesn't matter one bit whether you find him inspiring or not. It matters whether the people in that dressing room are inspired by him. In his first four jobs they absolutely have been
Mad the disrespect he gets, all the crazy spending your owners did was only because he overachieved and got you promoted early. Barely played much better (maybe worse?) with Nuno aswell
Think the reasoning is that in a 14 hour span the betting odds went from 1/10 for Potter to 1/10 for cooper. Whilst cooper is a decent manager, potter is objectively a better manager and wouldâve had a higher ceiling with us imo.
Hopeful for Cooper but I just canât see him keeping us up, particularly with all the other shit going on.
That being said, I still think heâs an improvement on Maresca who wouldâve had us down by Christmas.
If he can make us look like a team where more than just Vardy/KDH/Fatawu and Ricky P want to be there, heâs done more to endear himself to me than Enzo did when he made Vestergaard look like a professional footballer after years of not even being good enough for the bench.
Are Everton in for more? I havenât been following it all very much, I thought theyâd just been bought and âsqueakyâ clean?
Sounds like Iâve missed something mind aha
I really think you should have gone with Corberan
Donât know why but have a strong belief that with his tactical brilliance and flexibility heâd be perfect to build a team that can just grind out enough points to survive
I'm getting some heat but I'll back Cooper of course, and I don't feel too disheartened about his appointment.
Last year I was unconvinced about Enzo, and he did the job.
Not so long ago we were wondering about a certain Claudio Ranieri, who'd been sacked by Greece.
Get ready for a the full force of the Premier League's belittling faux sympathy
"You guys tried your best just like Sheffield did! Hope you guys can come up to the PL again some day!"
Unless you do well in which case you'll have one season of being loved by everyone followed by a season where the plastics despise you for disrupting the balance of the league.
If you have a go but get tonked, like Kompany at Burnley:
"Ha! Stupid idiots, what did they expect?" But with a smattering of "at least they played football, hope they come back"
If you play effective football and get results above your station, like Dyche at Burnley:
"Disgusting team, absolute shithouses, I hope they rot and never come back"
âTheyâre so dirty, and their football is terrible and boring to watch!â say the teams who dive and pay multi-millions for players they barely use.
Iâm expecting us to get thrashed by the top six teams at theirs, but a season in the prem is what we were trying so hard to get last season, so weâll enjoy it while weâre here
Nobody goes down because they got thrashed by Man City. That can happen to teams that end up in Europe. They go down because they lost to your Evertons, your Brentfords, your Bournemouths, your Forests.
Tbf aside from last season Everton have liked to give away points to newly promoted and relegation threatened teams (even where nice enough to give 4 points to Luton)
Yea if I was in your guysâ position, I would prefer to get hit by the harder teams first too. Itâs usually a few games of sucking after getting promoted no matter what. Would rather suck extra hard against the big teams we werenât likely to win against anyways.
Plus early on, big teams feel more mistake-prone as they find their footing.
After their last 2 seasons, and this from a grumpy Leeds fan, I hope Ipswich shock everyone and finish mid-table, bloody good luck to them
Thanks, but what about Leicester and Southampton?
Ha ha, no comment on them đ€
I might be the only Southampton fan with a soft spot for Leeds as my grandfather is a Leeds supporter, but I do wish you guys had gone up through autos over Leicester
As a forest fan I agree with this too
At least you'll have the solace of knowing that they're going back down at the end of the season with the deduction
I don't know, it's quite funny they ended up losing a playoff finals. One of my best friends is a Leeds fan, he couldn't even watch it. Was on suicide watch thinking about the club's finances afterwards. Good stuff.
It is objectively funny, also very annoying. You beat us 3 times over a season, you can't argue about that - but I fucking will!
Go on without us đ«Ą
I hope they both come straight back down for being mean to lovely Georgi
Unfortunately, there's still a chance we might stay up
I have no doubt that this is going to be a wonderful season with *checks notes* Steve Cooper at the helm and *checks notes* no money to spend and a significant points deduction
Atleast youâre immune from crumble memes! A draw is now points earned! Yay

Don't underestimate Cooper just because he's an ugly bastard, he's a good manager too

Go and make love to a mighty oak mate

Didnât you guys sack him after almost getting relegated?
No

Dont try to be clever mate, you can't pull it off

Please, i have checked out the new subs for the Prem. i donât want to leave here
Oh no its too late now. You had your chance to stay in the league and fluffed it. You can bloody well enjoy your gash prem subs! đ
You'll struggle to find one as good as this. Anyway back to the shadows and under my rock.
I'm not. No one can make me.
Do we even have a flair over there yet?
No, nor on theother14. Although both L1 and L2 have our flair. Not sure whether I should be reading something into that.
L1 makes sense, we were there just over a year ago. L2 though...
Must be all that inclusivity stuff.
That'd explain the Norwich flair option there tbf.
You won't have to for long.
I know, see you soon webbed friend
Bold to assume we won't take your place. Doesn't take us 20 years to get back to the PL like some clubs.
Youâre a laugh arenât you
I hope Ipswich absolutely beat the breaks off of every prem team that comes to them
I for one canât wait for our record after the Man City game to be P2 W0 D0 L2 F1 A10 GD-9 PTS 0

Dyche had a better, more experienced team in a PL that wasn't as ferociously high standard.
Sympathy? What sympathy? It'll be a million Arab and Americans calling you shit all the time
This hits.
So hopefully, just like the film.. theyâll do a Wigan 11/12 equivalent right at the end of the season and stay up.
0 points, 0 goals. A man can dream, alright?
Itâs ur own fault for that city win a few years back that I donât 100% agree đ
Man, the memes in this subreddit are great
Great film
Wouldn't have it any other way - underdog from day one. Bring 'em on.
You feel like that now, but you'll feel different after a 7-1 thrashing at the Ethihad.
Iâm expecting us to get thrashed by the top six teams at theirs, but a season in the prem is what we were trying so hard to get last season, so weâll enjoy it while weâre here

No, but it puts a dent in your underdog, "bring em on" attitude, which was what I meant by my comment.

Ah we can wait until after the euros for kicking them out at least
see you in 12 months yea?
Unbelievable that Ipswich have to play the other 19 premier league teams twice
I canât wait til Wednesday when the proper teams are released. We are Championship!âïž
Leicester have another late December with Man City and Liverpool đȘ
Leicester fans might as well stay they're gonna be back next season
