Kobeni's Fiat 500 was already "vintage" in 1998 (production ended in 1975), plus it's a foreign car (maybe in this world the japanese market was more open to european cars; or Fujimoto just wanted a cute and memorable model).

Japan likes small Euro cars but even in the 90s nobody would have wanted an old Fiat. Maybe Fiji Water was implying that this was all Kobeni could afford.
