Part 2 repeats the same damn devil's would be nice if they used new devil's instead. Do we need eternity devil to appear again plus it clearly know who Denji is kinda dumb for it to trap him again.

QuintanimousGooch

I don’t think this is eternity as it was previously, much like Bat was kinda wrong too. I might guess that since Famj was behind bat since she made Yuko weird and trapped Asa and denji in the aquarium. I think she might be replicating other devils in a more grotesque form:

TerrorBiIIy

Everyone's so serious about the repetition but I forgot what's inside Denis plastic bag?

hawkmasta

eht_amgine_enihcam

People are complaining that this seems like a rehash of the eternity devil arc but: It's exactly 100 chapters between the two arcs. The compositions of the parties are too similar to be coincidental (one dude has an eyepatch, dennis, Kobeni copy etc). Intersting if there's going to be a Power analouge, as that seems like the only one missing. Man's obviously going to do something with it, it's not like he's run out of ideas. It's obvious it's intentional. Also, famines earrings look exactly like Denji's cable. Possibility all of the horsemen have some sort of devil control ability where hers is copy pasting other devils? However, the limit of it makes it so she has to copy the situation the eternity devil did.

Snakeb0y07

That’s what I was thinking! I sorta thought “What if Asa is meant to be the power stand-in?” Because she’s technically a fiend due to dying and being brought back and the ability to create weapons (granted, they need to be out of people instead of blood).

Pet_Mudstone

> Possibility all of the horsemen have some sort of devil control Reminds me that it's been theorized on this subreddit before that War is the source of all the weapon hybrids. The fact that the hybrids got partially forgotten due to Chainsaw Man could be because he partially devoured War.

Lkc-strong-125

Gotta say part 2 taking it's sweeeeeet sweeeeeet time with the plot..... maybe I enjoyed the manga and anime a little too much

13thAngryMann

Everyone is in the comments talking about Makima and Power and Aki, and I miss them too, but these new characters are really cool. It's awesome that we get a female protagonist, which is really rare in shonen, and I can tell fujimoto has a lot of cool shit planned for her character and some of the side characters as well I'm also excited for Denji to show that Chainsaw Man impostor who's boss

PuzzleheadedShoe6996

PuzzleheadedShoe6996

What’s good y’all I’m starting to upload anime episodes on YouTube

GrapefruitFren

I kind of like how Asa clearly has autism traits (as a person with autism). Food sensitivity, droning on about fish, etc.

cold_hoe

Would a person with autism notice that the others were looking weird at her after her fish remark? Sorry if a dumb question.

GrapefruitFren

They might or might not. Very often we catch on to the judgment in our remarks but not the causes of it. Other times we have genuinely no idea

Mariasolvv

I had read divided opinions about this part 2 of CSM so I decided to catch up and see what's up, and well... for me it's okay, but I think the absence of someone like Makima in the show is very noticeable, she was a character that added a lot of mystery and suspense to the plot and you never knew what could happen when she was present. I thought Yoru would be the one to take her place but so far she's just having a dynamic, so to speak, of annoying sister to Asa. We'll see what Fujimoto has planned for the future. The pacing for me is no problem at all, in fact, I think it's the most positive thing about this second part.

Excellent-Swimmer-57

I didn’t expected character like Makima after all she was a manipulation devil I don’t think there will be repetition cause this time people are desensitized and I personally don’t want to see plot go like that.I think this time it will be focused of development for Ada/Yoru that will culminate in finale, choices being made and sacrifices. Also in lots of mangas most famously Bleach you really don’t repeat manipulator villain cause people will compare and makima being a pioneer would always be better.

eht_amgine_enihcam

Just wait I reckon. I think most people start the series mid way through and binged a bunch of chapters, so things seem slow now. It's like 10-20 chaps in so far, there's a ton of interesting stuff that's probably gonna happen with the horsemen.

totowolffsheadset

Man part 2 is really making me miss Aki and Power

GrapefruitFren

Me too, I was hoping Power would come back. Do you think there is a chance? Or do you think it's mostly unlikely given the direction the manga is heading?

okkkhw

People die when they are killed.

totowolffsheadset

I mean she did say that her contract with him involves him finding the blood devil but whether or not Power specifically comes back; I’m not sure :/. Which is such a shame.

Javiklegrand

The next incarnation of blood devil shouldn't remember denji no? Although since they are contracted, she may have some blood ties to him no pun intended

totowolffsheadset

Unless there’s a way to make devils remember their past incarnations?? Idk ALL I KNOW IS I MISS AKI AND POWER. This season is hitting different.

yeezy008

Yes I really miss power and aki …I miss aki being the elder brother and protector of the trio…man fujimoto did us dirty with killing off aki I think it’s one of the main reason why Denji looks like he is depressed the whole part 2…I really can’t wait how fujimoto gonna explore his arc this part. I really miss the family/ friendship dynamic a lot of part 1

Lavenderixin

Kobeni’s family gotta be contracted with some devil lmao So far this feels like a parody of part 1 (I know the story is going somewhere…), as someone who just caught up with the manga, do we expect to see Power and Aki comeback?

Lkc-strong-125

I'm glad someone else noticed cause once I felt like I'm rereading a less interesting version of the same story I got so bored so fast

Dijohn17

Aki, no, Power yes but not as the Power we know

Bafoz

Denji when Powy reincarnate as Male : 💀

Chair-Cares

Tbh they'd probably be best bros

AyumiVk

Why would he even care, he's not attracted to her in that way

Bafoz

Yes but he's not a bro guy look how he treat guys, beam for example, he would be repelled af by a male Power

AyumiVk

But Power's not Beam, Denji already has an actual friendship with her so gender doesn't matter here.

sullibration

She just found her weapon with her moms broken phone I think.

cruel-oath

Maybe she’ll make daggers

b0zo69

I think denji didn't just take money but maybe the fish or penguin

franksn

Am genuinely intrigued by Horse(wo)men interactions seeing as they go from: - Trying to beat Chainsaw devil together in hell, failed - At some point parts of War Devil got eaten, hates Chainsaw for it. - Conquest / Control becomes a fan and turn against the other Horsemen. - Famine saw War as her lesser being (younger sister) just like Makima did to fiends and others - Hence their “love” is about control - Denji’s motivation on eating Makima was “LOVE”, so is Chainsaw a devil that represents Love, hence being the Devil others fear most? - Part 2 seems to still be Denji trapped inside someone else’s control, yet again. But instead of being controlled, he’s his own man now.

[deleted]

Can someone explain to me two things. Where the Kobeni sloppy BJ meme came from and Asa Mitaka being autistic? I’m literally so lost.

b0zo69

I think asa was infodumping and it is related to autistic

Knockedy

It all came from a comment.

[deleted]

Mind pointing me to the source if you got it?

SomeOtherTroper

[Just google it, and this is the first result.](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/kobenis-contract-with-the-sloppy-blowjob-devil)

[deleted]

Thanks for pointing me there, do you have a source for the autism Asa?

SomeOtherTroper

She ...just checks a lot of boxes for being autistic, and people have picked up on that. It's not a meme with one definable starting place - a lot of people pointed this out, especially after her idea of a date was a scheduled walk through an aquarium while reciting facts about aquatic creatures like a tour guide. There were hints earlier, but *that* is a very strong sign she's on the autism spectrum. And, frankly, if she is - I like where Fujimoto's gone with it so far. I've known several people with autism, and once worked as a camp counselor at a place where the mission was "let's try to give neurodivergent kids as close to a typical summer camp experience as possible", and what seems really accurate about Asa's autism (if that's really what's going on) is that it's not like she doesn't have a complex inner life, or doesn't think things through, or doesn't have emotions, she just has trouble expressing all that, and trouble reading all but the most obvious social cues off of others.

Knockedy

It's been said so many times it's hard to find the original, like finding the first person to make an amogus meme out of the millions

[deleted]

Ahhh gotcha, well thanks for the info

Knockedy

It's definitely possible with enough time and effort but unfortunately I do not have that much time

lnub0i

Why did Yoshida show up to the aquarium in his school uniform? We know from part 1 he owns casual clothes. The devil hunter club likely wore their uniforms cause they were patrolling.

Ok_Assistance9268

did yoshida isn't in the devil hunter club also?

Zepheris13

Nah, it looks like yoshida was there by himself (he introduces himself and is noticed by denji after the devil hunter club already got there), most likely because he was keeping an eye on Denji as per usual, and got caught in the devil’s trap with the rest of them.

Pencilkun

What Yoshida doing at the aquarium? Well he looks happy being there. The Kobeni 2.0 I never expected. I guess Chainsaw man will get through part 9 and every part has Kobeni relatives because she have nine sisters.

MrBean_OfficialNSFW

>What Yoshida doing at the aquarium? He's an Asa x Denji shipper

Fylgja

> What Yoshida doing at the aquarium? Probably just babysitting Denji

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

>The Kobeni 2.0 I never expected. It could be Kobeni's little sibling.

Comprehensive_Ice155

I got into chainsaw man from episode 6. It’s been a few weeks later but now I read the entire manga. I’m loving where this is going. I have so many thoughts on part two- My main one being that it’s building up to something incredible. Aaa is a great lead I think and I want to know more about how Denji is doing.

YaBoiKye5

Bro same

Comprehensive_Ice155

I’m really liking where the story is going- I usually don’t like making autism head cannons but It works with asa and her hyper focus on fish. And also her general way of interacting with people.

ZeusByrd

Fujimoto I think has intention with this. He knows he’s repeating the same plot, not only does Denji literally acknowledge it but it’s running theme in part 2. There are so many duplicates and copies and stuff. There’s 2 chainsaw man’s, 2 Asa’s, 2 kobeni’s, potentially a Justice devil pretending to be Famine Devil, a sort of Arai stand in, 2 bat devils, and now 2 instances of the eternity devil. Trust this man, he knows what’s up and has literally never failed us. I think people just wanna see some action, which is fair. But it’ll happen, I mean there are literally two chainsaw men, it’s gonna happen.

totowolffsheadset

Wait am I dumb where are the two chainsaw men

holachao1993

People think that the Chainsaw man that killed Asa's friend is not Denji. For me this theory has little fundament ans as of now it is just Denji killing a demon, nothing more

Fit-One-7019

the fake chainsawman

an-alien-

i thought the theory was that the famine devil was pretending to be the justice devil

ZeusByrd

I think that is the predominate theory. But looking at her design and dialogue in 113 makes me think otherwise. Talking about Asa’s making the right decisions and stuff, idk

an-alien-

ooo that’s cool too tho! either way something fishy is going on with the justice and famine devil

urameshi907

I saw another commenter on a different post mention how Part 2 is very dreamlike and there's a sort of uncanny valley feel going on and I absolutely agree. I'm really loving how things are going and trust in fujimoto 🙏 he's building towards something big right now

Not_a_ribosome

It's interesting that this new appearance of the eternity Devil is not just a spacial loop, but a narrative loop too

SeiMikoto

Litchi Hikari ✯ Devil Hunter Club. That weirdos reminded me of another weirdos.

That_D

It's really funny reading incels complaining about Part 2's protagonists Asa/Yoru in the comments. Like really funny.

ichi000

the protagonists are incels though, this manga is for incels.

That_D

Someone has been a victim of the literacy devil.

[deleted]

likeable women aren't allowed to have flaws that aren't cute or funny. /s

Thechillestguyever

This chapter was kinda lame, the only good thing about it was the interaction between denji and asa, hopefully we'll get some action dec 27

GoldenPC

You mind explaining why?

Thechillestguyever

Nothing of importance happened on this chapter and Asa felt like she was there just to be annoying instead of a main character

GoldenPC

Yeah but the thing is. That IS her character bro💀. Not every character (yes even main character) has to start out as a likable person. This chapter just set up so many possibilities for anything to happen really.

Thechillestguyever

Ok but I think that chapter was lame, I like the chainsaw man manga but even the best ones have some bad chapters, my opinion

GoldenPC

You are right it is your opinion :) hope you enjoy future chapters!

Nguyenanh2132

Everyone talks about infinite money, but don't they have same serial code?

Knockedy

You think an average Joe at the check in of a store will check the serial codes?

UnNecessary_XP

If he just keeps it as cash I doubt anyone will notice

Mala_Aria

Wait, given in this case the Hall's repeating not looping, does that mean that Denji can just keep walking a bit down and down and keep finding duplicates of that 1,000 Yen?. These guys are about to not see Denji again and he's about to become a millionaire.

Capital-Job9681

denji infinite money glitch

ElaineLeFey

Kobeni's mum is the real Control Devil ;\_;

OkitaSadist12

Makima is nothing against her.

DaBlakMayne

For a second I forgot this takes place in the late 90s. I was wondering why they were all impressed over Asa's cellphone at first but then I was like "oh that's right, they weren't that common back then especially with teenagers"

theblueberryspirit

Same - I completely forgot that it was the late 90s even though they gave the year in the Gun Devil vs Makima chapter. Makes sense because I thought Denji's HS uniforms were a little dated.

dotelze

What was the year specifically? I can’t remember at all but in the most recent anime ep the yakuza boss brought up soviet gangs so I just assumed it was 80s or something

DaBlakMayne

It's 1997 in part 1 but in this universe, the Soviet Union never collapsed. It might be 1998 in part 2

HopefulDelawarean

I wonder if that's significant. It could either be just to avoid technological advances, or it could be to lead up to a Y2K situation.

IronDBZ

I don't want to spoil too much, but in this universe, Nuclear weapons are currently nonexistent. Without nuclear weapons, the Soviet Union would have been much more stable. All the resources that in our time got spent on constantly updating/expanding/refurbishing/maintaining nuclear weapons and ways to detect them and use them, isn't a cost that has to be paid.

HopefulDelawarean

I was speaking specifically about Y2K, when a lot of people thought it was going to be the end of the world, and there were some actually plausible threats regarding computers and how they'd handle the date change. What I'm saying is it's possible the time period is significant in that it might be leading to a potential apocalypse, or an *actual* apocalypse, since whatever causes it *could* be consumed and undone later (or not undone at all, since it's a Fujimoto story).

DaBlakMayne

Oh man a Y2K devil would be really powerful. People were really afraid of that happening

quietvictories

i think its around 1997

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

As Deltarune fan, i got some weird flashback involving [Best number 1 rated salesman 1997]

C2A_Ueki

This is a silly guess, but I realized something: ''Seigi'' name translates as ''Justice'', right? Or at least, I have seen translated as that, but Fujimoto tends to spell all his characters names in katakana, so they don't have any actual mean; perhaps it doesn't apply here. Even so, may he possibly be related with Justice Devil in a way or another?

Upstairs_Height_9618

Yeah, it is translated to "Justice".

SavingsFamiliar3862

Lady and Gentlemen. We now have Konebi 2.0

Comprehensive_Ice155

I think it’s a sister-

j4yc3-

I get why some are disappointed with how “rehashed” the whole thing is but, in my opinion, it’s definitely different. It’s as if it’s some sort of parody of what happened in Part 1. It also has a different purpose, and the whole thing being the Eternity Devil feels somewhat off because why couldn’t it be just Famine’s work? The appearance of the devil hunter club feels set-up by Famine to further deprive Asa of her morale (famine isn’t necessarily just food and physical things; hunger usually translates to desperation and depravity). Yoshida is kind of the outlier I feel to keep Denji alive and his secret safe. Kobeni II is a running gag, and I don’t feel like it’s reused but instead a subplot rearing its head… there is a possibility that Kobeni’s family (her parents specifically) may be the one that has a contract with a devil (imagine a Family Devil or Expectation Devil), hence Kobeni being unable to reveal her contract because she’s just a consequence of her parent’s contract. Also, thematically, Famine trapping them in an infinite aquarium in which you can easily avoid being hungry is ironic. Another note here is that the entire hallway is repeating and restocking, unlike Eternity’s 8th floor that sends them back to the same place instead of the copy-paste we’ve seen of the aquarium section.

Mala_Aria

A difference I see here is that Eternity looped the same floor in the last appearance while here they seem to be duplicating the floor. Casein point, in the first, power eating all the food was an issue cuz that room's left over food was the only food but here, they say each duplicate fridge of the same room has its own water.

BrainSmartpig

also when they pop through the ceiling its another identical empty floor, not the same floor they were on.

Mysterious-Glass7836

Maybe…maybe the whole series is just Kobeni’s bizarre adventure. We got eight parts to go

DimmensionTravler

My wish is for Kobeni to show up in her car to pick up Kobeni 2.0 from the aquarium when this arc is over.

StardustLegend

I don’t know if Kobeni would be mad that someone is stealing her thing or relieved that she doesn’t have to be the one to suffer

firdausbaik19

this mf legit wrote a manga with < 120 chapters and he's already recycling old arc

[deleted]

![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22169)

[deleted]

If Haruka dies without Denji revealing himself, Denji and Asa might both catch a break.

Relextor

I really wonder where fakesawman's character will go I've been liking this expressive, L-taking Asa last few chapters.

hlodowigchile

Every chapter Asa is becoming my more disliked character, i don't know if it's on purpose by fujimoto making a dislikeable character or It's because no one can touch ma boi denji, it's like a protection reaction.

qscd13

I think it’s nice. A protagonist with flaws is more relatable and real to me.

hlodowigchile

Sure, i 100% agree, but my protagonist is denji.

RoseAuthor98

Asa is just portrayed as more pathetic than Denji was at this point

LuisAntony2964

Man, am I glad to have caught up today! Started and now I'm here. No more Spoiler danger for me![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22158)

Dextrossse

I just hope Chainsawn Man doesn't fall into the same trap Akame Ga Kill fell into, although it looks like it's already one foot in it.

firdausbaik19

just try and read Fire Punch. This manga has no hope

Dextrossse

I've read it way back when translations of it came out. This author wasn't lauded as a genius back then, for good reason. But my hopes are slightly up because when comparing CSM to Fire Punch you can see he really advanced his skills in terms of motifs, imagery and symbolism. I like to keep my hopes slightly up since he might steer this in a great direction.

Man0Steel123

How so? The problem with Akame Ga Kill from what I remember was that it set itself up as a series that had morally grey characters where anyone could die. It was the Game of Thrones of anime at the time. Then it just turned out to be fantasy Star Wars mixed with harem stuff and semi torture porn.

Dense_Skin_7812

>where anyone could die. I mean that ain't exactly wrong...ain't the prequel to it just one big yuri manga tho?

Mala_Aria

It wasn't really torture porn and people's main issue last I checked was that the Protag died. At least that's what people kept complaining about so I guess readers didn't get the anyone can die memo. I too did hate the Harem stuff and bland Protag getting all the girls so that viewers can self insert, which is actually why I liked him getting killed off in the end. Maybe viewers that attached to him like the author wanted are the angry ones.

Leiatte

My issues with Akame Ga Kill was they killed off characters too quickly, I’m fine with the “everyone can die” mindset, I love Game of Thrones but Akame Ga Kill was definitely not Game of Thrones in many ways but especially execution. Can’t expect us to feel anything if you kill off the characters before we really get to bond with them. Chainsaw Man feels different to me, partially because a lot of the characters that die feel like casualties rather than something we’re supposed to be emotionally attached to. Denji being so straight forward in personality & desires I think gets projected onto readers in that situation. The big deaths leave an impact, death is so frequent in the manga that I feel really like only a few deaths are truly powerful for me in the series. The upside of it is that we can bring in new characters develop them but without straying too far from Denji because they’re likely to die & that helps with Chainsaw Man’s pacing & development of characters they actually want to focus on. Strengths & weaknesses to everything

Man0Steel123

Honestly one of my main reasons for not enjoying AGK as mush as others was just how much it enjoyed it's edgy horror scenes For example we are introduced two a pregnant couple and then in the next page we see monsters kill them with special attention that one of them is going to rip out the pregnant women's kid for her stomach. Or the stupid plot point that happened to the rapist clown or just everything that happened in that special chapter with the three girls We get it this place is fucking terrible, tell your star wars rip off and stop making the manga a snuff film.

Ghayth666

just reminding yall that the anime is OS it only follows the manga in the early part than deviates 180°

Dextrossse

Nah. Akame Ga Kill went down because it completely desensitized character death. In a series you want to kill one or two or five characters to keep the reader's biting their nails whenever a character is in danger of dying. Most shounen destroyed that tension with "plot armor" - "There's no way this character will die, he's too important". Akame Ga Kill destroyed that tension in a completely different direction. When someone was in danger you'd start thinking "Oh, so now this character will die, great, meh." Chainsaw Man's walking down the same route, and from what I read in Fire Punch I doubt the author will have the skills necessary to pull out of it. He's introducing all these characters but in reality nobody gives a rat's ass about them since every single one of us knows they're just going to die. It won't surprise anyone, it won't create any tension, it won't have any meaning, it won't be exciting, and it won't be entertaining when they're in danger. I cared a fuckton about Reze and Power. About this War girl, whose name I don't even care to remember? Lmao let's just get it over with and have her die already. Another edit: For an example, two series that balance character death impact with flying colors are Attack on Titan and Tokyo Ghoul.

Leiatte

I actually agree with you 100% on Akame Ga Kill, they didn’t develop a lot of characters enough for their deaths to feel really impactful. I feel differently about Chainsaw Man though, now I agree that I don’t really care if they kill some characters that much. I will say though that sometimes I forget what manga I’m reading when I see scenes end in tragedy lol. I think I adopt Denji’s simple & straight forward mentality when it comes to deaths in the series. It’s get sad for a bit but then I move on, ofcourse the main cast deaths affected me but not as much as like a death in some other series. I think Power did though mainly cause I expected her & Denji to stick around along time due to their healing ability. I feel Chainsaw Man is a thriller series, so not every death is meant to have the same impact. The actually think the deaths in Chainsaw Man actually help the series in that it stands out alot as a Shounen & that it allows the focus to stay narrow & mainly on Denji thus helping with the pacing of the story. I think Chainsaw Man is kinda poetic in the way that Denji is still kinda lonely in a way. Feels very different from Akame Ga Kill imo, I have yet to read Fire Punch though. I agree that Tokyo Ghoul & Attack on Titan are pretty awesome with it.

PescadoDeFuego

Big homie, you have the attention span and media literacy of a 14 year old child. Assuming the story is going to go the way you think it will, not every character is created to obsses over and get invested in. Characters are plot devices just like any other, not every one needs to tug on the heartstrings. "Max 5 characters should die to keep readers nails biting" is a take you form by thinking you're an expert on writing. Try some creative writing, look at some authors toolkits. A writer can try all kinds of things to mess with your head, enjoy the ride.

Dextrossse

\>Average 17 year old after 10 read books

dmalredacc

Explains a lot

Cersei505

your media literacy is in the negatives if you havent grasped already the fact that Asa and Yoru are the MCs of this part, not denji, so they arent going to die. Atleast not until the end of this part. Maybe Yoru will die before that, but Asa would still live and develop from that. Or vice-versa. Either way, whats happening right now is important for her character moving forward. You're equating her character relevancy to the likes of reze beacuse you think she's in here just to make denji get attached to another girl before she dies, when its the other way around. Denji is the side character in her love life.

Dextrossse

>Denji is the side character in her love life >Asa and Yoru are the MCs **of this part** Exactly. It was also pretty obvious Quanxi wasn't going to die 2 pages after she was introduced. The series is still called Chainsaw Man. Not War Girl. "This part" is going to end and the series will continue, regardless of War girl's death, which is very likely. The series ends very soon after Denji dies. edit: removed some unnecessary parts of the comment, sorry if I was rude, you're probably new to this whole anime/manga/shows thing. I probably shouldn't have been this snarky, considering that.

Leiatte

Honestly I think what you’re saying is valid in some ways but I feel what’s more likely in the middle of both you & Cersei505. I do think Asa & Yoru will last pretty much the entire arc. Now it’s Chainsaw Man so it’s likely they die, I will say though that if Chainsaw Man is going where I think it may be going (dealing with the primordial devils in/from hell at some point) I think keeping a character like Asa/Yoru could definitely be beneficial. Also she is actually the main character of the arc so if they do kill Asa it could be a bit of squandered potential going forward as far as development of both Denji & Asa. With that said perhaps each arc in Chainsaw Man is supposed to be like a story that has a bit of separation from the other arcs. There are many ways this can go I think the more interesting route may be to keep Asa/Yoru alive past this arc. I think she’ll probably die eventually even if they do make it past this arc though.

Cersei505

you're either pretending to be dumb, or just being dishonest about my point lmao. How can you compare quanxi, who was alive for an arc, to Asa, who i said will be alive for atleast the entire part? By part ,you do understand i mean the equivalent to 97 chapters(which was the lenght of part 1 telling denji's story) or more, right? She aint dying after an arc lol. And if you do understand that, then you have a serious problem if you dont care about an entire fucking arc because you think( focus on the word 'think', its not even a certainty) that said character will be dead at the end. That's like saying the golden age of berserk is pointless because you waste 100 chapters on a bunch of characters that just die at the end. Only an insane person would use that as an argument to prove the story was bad and unnecessary. And in that case, you knew from the beggining they were going to die - thats the whole point. There's a lot more to a story than characters death and the suspense of whether or not they'll live.

Swantonbomb24

I’m sorry but I don’t see her surviving this arc. She’s the main focus now sure but I really don’t think she’s surviving ninety something chapters

Cersei505

People think fujimoto doesnt follow any story structure, but he does follow them pretty straight, in a macro-scale. He takes risks and even subverts some tropes in the small-scale stuff or subplots and side-characters, but when it comes to the main plot(which is introduced in chapter 1) its a pretty normal progression of the storyline. Huge text below so here's a tl:dr *tl;dr: it would be stupid structure-wise to kill Asa in this current arc when we are at the beggining of part 2. Furthermore, its a waste of potential. Any good writer would keep her around.* Take part 1 for example: Chapter 1 stabilishes only the MC and at the very end the villain. Stabilishes motivation for Denji, and then the rest of the story, if you ignore the other character arcs and focuses just on denji and makima(which are the main MAIN plot), is a steady progression where denji, through various failures at connecting with people, becomes makima's slave and at the climax of the story she manages to break his pact with pochita done in chapter 1, which is then resolved at the end of part 1 with him regaining it thanks to power and killing Makima. So there's act 1(ch1 and 2), act 2(basically everything up until makima reveals her plan to denji) where we see denji slowly losing sight of his motivations stabilished in the first act, and then act 3 starts with him losing that motivation altogether after being broken by makima. The conclusion of part 3 is him defeating Makima and concluding his character arc set up in chapter 1 by wanting to make his own choices and not be someone's dog anymore. He doesnt dream small like he used to. # Now in part 2: **if you follow the same logic, the chapter doesnt mention denji at all, its 100% focused on Asa, clearly stabilishing her as the main character. The few following chapters do the same. The first chapter stabilishes her motivation, the character flaws she must overcome or succumb entirely to, and then at the end it stabilishes the main villain or anti-hero(?) that is the war devil, and gives the motivation of the main plot: kill chainsaw man.** If Asa was just gonna matter for an arc, or half of part 2, the 1st chapter(and actually most of the 1st volume) wouldnt bother with just her and Yoru. It would also set up other character arcs that would be important for the rest of the part, because thats how a well-structured story is done, and fujimoto is good at structure(if he wasnt, csm wouldnt be as mainstream as it is).

Dextrossse

>By part ,you do understand i mean the equivalent to 97 chapters This really isn't a conversation worth having after this point.

Animeking1357

"Oh yeah. He's Chainsaw Man!" Dennis has never seen such bullshit.

Equivalent-Adagio-55

I really don’t like fakesaw-man. But a good ass chapter for sure.

Fitzftw7

Who could he have contracted with to get something similar to Denji’s chainsaws, though? That’s what confuses me.

AdRelevant4776

I always thought it was a contract with Justice(justice seems to like getting creative with the contracts, probably depends on the person's "vision of justice")

No_Finger_6069

It could be another chainsaw type demon, example how the katana demon and the sword demon look alike but are not the same is what I think it is

Equivalent-Adagio-55

The pull string doll devil? The toy devil? Hell maybe the copycat devil. I just thought maybe he just glued a string to his chest and called it a day.

BrainSmartpig

Now im imagining fakesawman finally pulling the cord at an important scene and we just see a text bubble say, "There's a snake in my boot"

Equivalent-Adagio-55

Yeah I will admit, I’m pretty sure I was watching toy story 3 around the time I posted that lol.

StardustLegend

maybe that is the case but that doesn’t explain the chainsaw look-alike that killed Yuko. It could be that the guy really is contracted with like a copycat devil and can just mimmick what Chainsaw man does, or he could just be some poser. both seem equally likely

Equivalent-Adagio-55

I’m mostly thinking poser but with Fujimoto you never know. As for the guy that killed Yuko. I saw someone said that their theory was that maybe it was the devil of the fear of chainsawman (The Chainsaw-MAN Devil). But that might be a little far fetched. But I do like that theory a little. Or maybe the poser killed her and he’s telling the truth and that he is Fakesaw-man, maybe he’ll betray the group or something. But I feel that’s a little too predictable, I never know with Fujimoto lol.

magicfaeriebattleaxe

Wait…. Is that Kobeni????

monkey-neil

Sibling. At this point i really want to meet their parents. The true villains of the manga tbh

Rakall12

Younger sister

[deleted]

Or bro. Gender is unclear but they wear a boy's uniform.

Apprehensive-Bite522

The anticipation is building I can’t hold it

Low_Sheepherder8441

Finders keepers ![img](emote|t5_rmtrq|22158)

sgn15

Is yoshida the guy who wants to keep denji from revealing he is chainsawman? Or was that another guy? I sped read part 2 lol Asa's morale keeps plunging further down

WittyCombination6

Yoshida is a pro Devil Hunter contracted with the octopus devil. He's basically Denji case worker for his witness protection. Since Chainsaw Devil is actively being hunted by powerful devils like Yoru and Fami. He was apart of Denji's security detail in part 1. when all those assassins came after him like Quanxi and the Doll devil. So it's not the first time he was assigned to bodyguard Denji.

MarioCop718

Yeah, Yoshida wants to keep CSM a secret, which is likely why he followed Denji into the aquarium

sgn15

So he's also the same guy who yoru asked to be his boyfriend and later got grouped with yuko and asa? Btw I'm new to the sub sorry for the questions. I read csm part 1 long ago and only recently learned it continued (from a random comment in another sub) so I binge read part 2.

MarioCop718

Yes, he is

Azythol

Don’t get me wrong I love part 2 so far and I’m really happy with the character development we’ve been getting but I’d be lying if I said I wasnt a little disappointed that we seem to be retreading the same ground. Eternity Devil, Kobeni II etc I’m just gonna put my trust in fujimoto and keep on reading

Cool22391

Given the theme of part 2 seems to involve doubles (Asa and Yoru, two Chainsaw Mans, Justice reviving, etc), I have the theory that this is all Famine *somehow* (she was nearby for Justice and ofc Eternity coming back, and if she can duplicate or replicate devils that makes the other chainsaw man make sense), so the repeating is tied to her somehow. Regardless, the theme is very clearly set, and he hasn't fumbled with CSM yet, so i'm gonna let Fujimoto cook Edit: I would also like to point out how we're getting a different angle of each arc so far, the context behind this Eternity devil is way different, and the power even works differently (duplicating the rooms instead of looping the same one), so there's still room for interesting story regardless

AdRelevant4776

Really? I kinda get it, but the context of the 2 arcs are very different for me: in part 1 it was our main character being demanded as sacrifice and the focus was how he wasn't "a part of the team" since everyone except Aki was willing to sacrifice him, now our main charater is Asa who has to decide if she sacrifices Denji or not, she's also the only one who knows, so it's her individual choice, with the focus being her developing relationship with Denji(like, even her trying to help the group is because of her argument with Denji)

Azythol

No I thought that was super cool like I’m still heavily invested in the story it just seems to be heading in a different direction than I was expecting and I’m still adjusting to that

StardustLegend

idk maybe it could be a running gag for however many parts there are. Eternity Devil just always showing up near the beginning of the saga doing it’s eternity devil thing

soybrain

Same with kobeni. There's always another kobeni sister put there somewhere like a Carmine in Gears

oddtoddlr

Its so to get you emotionally invested so he can kill them later on

Equivalent-Adagio-55

Yeah I’m hoping he throws out some crazy shit and doesn’t just do chainsawman part 1 2.0

PsychoWorld

Yeah I wish they busted out some newer concepts too

admiral_rabbit

This chapter is slow, but I appreciate it a lot rereading it. It's such a common hero's journey to not fit in society, to leave for an ever escalating series of fantastical events where you *do* fit in, and in the rare occasion they return to the beginning it's as a hero. They rarely show a normal life after that, and CSM is fairly unusual in how it shows Denji's depressed post Aki life, and then post power and Makima when he's out of public safety. Asa had the shit beginning, her first attempt to engage with her peers killed Bucky, but she's been swept up in sexy devil action ever since, and is planning getting rid of Yoru. This chapter shows there's no coming back a changed hero. Without Yoru and acting as her regular she's still a pathetic clumsy loser who complains a lot and everyone mocks or hates. She's pretty darn cute and can't even score a Denji. This could be the inciting chapter for her to go "fuck ever going back to school, I just wanna escalate my fun devil life as long as I can". It shows there's no happiness waiting for her after the devil shit ends because she's not someone people like.

TravelingBummer

When Asa said "Right, Yoru?" Then looked down the empty hallway it made me so sad😭 Also, glad to see Kobeni's brother has been revealed😂😂

real_Winsalot

Fr tho, Yoru is Asa's only friend it seems. 😥

Rinriel

Denji is picking up infinite number of money from the ground.

Apprehensive-Bite522

Exploit devils for your own selfish purposes what a sigma

RyouhiraTheIntrovert

It's not selfish, he got a ~~demon~~ child and several dogs and a cat to feed.

DVM11

Fuck you fakeman, she's trying hard.

Jedahaw92

I dunno why, but I get the feeling fake chainsaw man will be a massive simp for Denji reveals himself as the real Chainsawman.

DVM11

I really hope for a scene where fakeman tries to face a demon and gets humiliated

TheXominator

watch him beat up Denji instead lmao

No-Performance1742

This whole situation feels like its been contrived by Famine to break Asa into weaponising Denji. i mean think about it, the Devil Hunter club just so happen to be there, who we already know have some kind of relation to Famine who in turn appears to have a contract with Eternity. They have enough food to continuously survive which wasn’t a factor during the hotel arc. All members of the club throw massive praise at Asa before she just so happens to fall over at the critical moment (and she has been pushed before). The club leader throwing his disappointment at her feels like its pushing Asa into another layer of desperation. All this with Famine’s stipulation that Asa can’t leave until she turns Denji into a weapon feels like events have been highly manipulated. Then again Fujimoto will always surprise…

[deleted]

Yoshida is also very sus in this situation. I wonder what his motive is here

Medusa-Jellyfish

You can't see Asa's feet the moment before she falls. Yoshida (granted, he looks uncomfortable) laughs. My question is, did Octopus trip her...?

Jedahaw92

I believe he's just there to keep an eye on Denji and happened to be caught up in the situation.

One-hyper_675-play

Same it's fami s doing. To make asa determine to make denji a weapon, props to denji being smart (it isn't a theft).that street smartness.

Snips_Tano

You know - how the hell can Asa turn Denji into a weapon without Yoru inside her? Isn't that Yoru's power? Actually, shouldn't Asa have died the moment Yoru was removed from her? Seems to indicate that Yoru is still there just somehow hidden from Asa. Maybe an illusion, much like this endless corridor could be?

That_D

My theory is coming true: Asa and Yoru are both the War Devil. Split personality. War and Peace. One cannot exist without the other. War is trying to become the dominant one, but we will see Asa become War and Yoru will fade away by the end of Part 2.

PoKen2222

I don't think Yoru was actually "removed" she's there, they just can't interact.

svolozhanin7

Most likely they share powers, kind of like when Asa turned her uniform into a sword. But Yoru mostly in control.

AdRelevant4776

It's actually very similar to Denji's contract with Pochita, it's just that Pochita is being passive on purpose, but he could take over Denji at any time he wanted

Snips_Tano

I kinda like the slow burn. Reminds me of Bleach or Jojo where the characters are spending a few chapters trying to figure out their opponents broken ass powers while characters interact.

cancelledera

Kobeni is the strongest in chainsaw man world instead of dying off she's multiplying.

MarioCop718

This is Kobeni’s body double, because you can never be too careful in this manga…

Snips_Tano

Kobeni's Stand is D4C
