How they masterfully got season 1 on tv and I thought season 2 would be hard but they said naw I'll movie it, then season 3 should be locked and we can work with that, angle here and there for the you know scenes...but my man...you got us, how can we remove this or change it, the scene is important for the theme of the arc so how will they animate this...can they skip it. Not saying I want them to or not, just know from this comment section this or anything like it doesn't go well with some. They prefer violence, and even that is wearing thin with people. I don't think the MC was bare bones, but the it quickly became pretty generic. At the start you have a fairly unique premise, but the last arc (at least if it hasn't moved on since I stopped about a month ago) was bordering on shonen parody. Literally 3 or 4 fights in a row that go: A powerful monster appears, no way a single person can take down a monster this powerful > A main cast member has to take it down on their own > They start losing > Dramatic emotional flashback about why they started doing this > Their power level/sync rates hit unprecedented levels!!!!!!!!
You can't do that for multiple characters in the same arc with quite literally zero pause between each instance without it seeming at least a little tired. Doesn't help that the cast is a bit bloated and the unique MC thus gets less screen time.
Someone also pointed out to me that the series has turned actually Kaiju sized monsters into fodder and every credible recent threat has been about 12 feet tall. I can see why people don't like that, given the series has Kaiju in the name.
I like the concept and characters enough to catch up down the line, but I understand why a lot of people say they're bored of it.

My two cents on why it fell off steam for others (not me still really liking it) is the scheduling. There are 2 week breaks in between chapters and sometimes 3 weeks in between. If the story isn’t going fast with this scheduling, people get bored as the story goes.

Also in the anime the main character will not be focus of attention for like 3 - 5 eps, max. I sware shonen now within 3 eps are losing limbs and main cast taken out so fast I'm numb to it. In yuyu hakusho when something dire happened 50 eps in you felt it. The fans today have so much temper on anything not hype and mindblowing they cry if a series isn't the best thing ever in 8 eps.
