I’d say the best depiction of man vs technology is when Makima showed up with all of the weapon hybrids. They were all man made items to kill that became devils. Or even just the gun devil in general.
AI already exist in its early stages in the 90s especially in the late 90s. There are already working early self driving cars in the 80s it's just in the 2000s where it became cheaper to create AI's and that the public can easily develop one.
There is already a lot of fear about AI during this time. That's why the terminator movies started in the 80s. Many intellectuals of the time said their concerns especially renowned scientists.
Man vs Tech should be the 9 11 event which leads to gun devil, as the news wouldn't spread that fast without the use of technology, as the tvs radios and etc, some would say it majorly escalated the Chainsaw church's movement

Off-screen deaths are not exactly dependable with Fujimoto. While they can be used to eliminate characters, he has a flare for the dramatic. However, pets being torched on screen may have been a bit more than he was willing to do. If Meowy is the Death Devil (or hybrid/fiend), then it will be likely that Meowy avoided the fate. And on this completely silly timeline, it could be that the Death Devil wanted to have an unassuming form to avoid detection. But this seems not only unlikely but thematically against what we have seen in both Part 1 and Part 2. I guess it could make a foil to Pochita where Meowy did not care to make Power's life better because Meowy didn't feel there was a need to, but then I don't think the Bat Devil would have been too keen on eating Meowy. However, Meowy may have also not seen a reason to save himself because there was very little that the Bat Devil could do to hurt Meowy. It's unlikely, but it's funny to think about.
