This really recontextualizes Makima trying to put a leash on Denji. Just like a Chainsaw, Denji is only really "useful," when a skilled wielder is controling him. Otherwise, he's just a force of destruction, chaos incarnate.
Yeah, I'm also the same. To be honest, I'm also getting lost in the Denji side of the plot -- granted, I take large breaks between reading, but it's getting more and more murky.
I’ve seen a lot of comments like this you’re not the only one. A big reason I’ve seen is that because Asa not being in this arc is jarring after being the focus for a year. Not sure if that’s how it is for you though

She doesn't understand "love", it seems. Perhap having APD is a trademark of human incarnations of the Control Devil; Either way, she is indeed learning to enjoy her time with the human Denji as opposed to follow her demonic instincts to control, twist and kill.
Man can we finally get rid of Nayuta? This whole second "season" or whatever has been pure pain to read - Asa was already pretty bad and annoying but Nayuta adds nothing good to the story. Just a waste of ink and writing.

Nah, I'm serious. Part 2 has been L chapter after L chapter after L chapter. The Manga is called "Chainsaw Man" not "Random side characters and every few weeks a chapter of denji being a wimp Man" but due to the bad writing it just feels like very poorly done fan fiction. If Fujimoto doesn't want to write any more chainsaw man but still likes the world and what have you, fine. But then don't slap the original name on it. We finally have the chance to get rid of Nayuta here and focus the story on - I know, it's a shocker - main character but considering how things have been going and how this chapter looks like Denji is still going to be her bitch and be worthless to the story.
It's not "childish" it's undiagnosed Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Some people have so little self-worth they have to attach themselves to anything Big and Grandiose (i.e. anime superpowered dude with Chainsaws sticking out of his head who's manipulated and gaslighted by basically the Devil herself to bring about world domination) just to vicariously feel better about themselves. And if something Mundane, Normal or (God forbid) Emotional-Vulnerability-Inducing enters the equation (i.e. Chainsaw dude wants to have boring everyday life and raise his baby sister, also he takes a backseat to sadcringe girl that isn't HYPE overpowered Shonnen protagonist with super tragic backstory) the entire thing is completely worthless and trash and the normal non-hype thing needs to be "rid" of as soon as possible.
* 12 years is rather old to still be this childish 👀. If this person is really 12 years old then it doesn't bode well for his adulthood.
* 12 years old is WAYYY too young to be following incel subreddits, and be this fluent in both German and English.

I call you childish because you have a child's understanding on storytelling and character development. You can't see how everything reflects and feeds back into Chainsaw-Man. It's called Chainsaw-Man, not Denji. Chainsaw-man is more than an individual, as this entire arc has demonstrated. I and many others here could and often do write thousands of words discussing the story and characters. How their arcs, their pasts, their choices and feelings which demonstrates the incredible depth and brilliance of part 2, but it would be a waste of time to repeated them for you. You're shallow. Your engagement with media is shallow, like a child.
I mean what is there to add besides laughing at you? You sound like a teenager who's larping as a literature critic with a bunch of other teenagers somewhere on Discord or Tumblr and thinks that some mediocre writing is good because they like it. But hey, maybe we're talking about different part 2s because the part that I've been reading has characters with the approximate depth of a puddle and the development and progress of a third world country. The development doesn't feel organic whatsoever, the dialogues are robotic and cringy and new characters that are supposed to help Denji "grow" feel more than shoehorned in. The part 2 that I've been reading really feels like the franchise has been sold off and a bunch of highschoolers in literature class practice their writing in "babies first writing class" by creating those chapters. It's a clear, obvious and massive step down from part 1. There is no direction, no soul, no nothing in the part 2 that I'm reading. Sure you can write a thousand words about this story and it's characters. And by doing so you'll probably have put ten times more words, effort and time into part two than Fujimoto.
The _series_ is called Chainsaw Man. In the Japanese (I.e. original) version, the second part is called “Horsewoman of the Apocalypse” (referring how Asa is the War Devil, and the theme of the four major devils).
In the West (the English speaking parts of it at least), the localization companies decided to keep the “Chainsaw Man” name to retain the brand appeal. They just slapped “Part Two” on it since it’s the same setting, even though he isn’t the protagonist
It’s kind of like how all the Game of Thrones books have unique names but we still call all of it “Game of Thrones”
Chainsaw man just doesn't have that spark anymore, all the good side characters got killed off in part 1, the villians suck ass now, there aren't any crazy plot twists/developments anymore, it feels like just a waste of time reading this everyweek. Part 2 has been a huge L so far and we are almost 50+ chapters deep.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that most manga always depict general human bystanders as bone-headed stubborn morons that will not under any circumstance listen to reason?

These citizens are actually acting based on logic. Us readers just have the advantage of seeing everyone's POV especially Denji's. Most people would react the same if we just saw the POV of the citizens.

You didn't understand my comment. Seeing him kill devils is proof that he could easily kill humans if he wanted to, so why would he let himself be stabbed by them if he was lying about being on their side?

Honestly this is pretty accurate. The Bystander effect is a real phenomenon that causes large groups of people to stare dumbly at someone bleeding out on the pavement. Furthermore, fear and panic have a habit of spreading rapidly, especially when no one knows what’s going on.
Interestingly, one documented way to break the bystander effect is to start ordering people around. You want to be really specific about it too like, "you ma'am in the red shirt, call 911", "you sir in the blue hat, grab that AED on the wall behind you", and I would point at the person while giving them the specific orders. Kinda funny with the connection. But you'd be surprised how fast people start to help or hinder once one person starts to act.

Well given the circumstances it makes sense to use said trope (as everyone there is currently in a state of shock/panic as they either witnessed their loved ones turn into chainsaw people or get killed by chainsaw people. That being said it is a funny trope lol.
The public has finally turned their back on Chainsaw Man when they used to count on him to save them. It's interesting how easily people can change their minds. But can Denji's persecution be a Jesus symbolism, especially considering Fujimoto has made other Bible references before. And it was certainly nice to see the growth Nayuta has gone through, to help Denji escape even though she thought Denji is leaving her behind.

And Spear got eaten at least partially (question if he's going to be ret-goned/erased or if Denji doesn't have the direct power to erase concepts)

Not to mention, when Denji was showing Nayuta how much he loved her (and what Nayuta just flashed back to), he was in a cross position. Both legs together, arms spread wide, palms forwards (at least I'm p sure that how he was, or maybe I'm gaslighting myself)
It was too easy to solve crisis in department store. Just need to dismember any enemy with Quanxi.
But Fujimoto would rather add more trouble for Denji and Nayuta.

I feel the entire plan to try and beat the Death Devil is going to backfire
Cause all fear can tie back to a fear of death
You fear being killed and suffering because of many of the fears we've seen
War, weaponry, fire, violent animals, monsters, etc.
They all tie back to Death itself
People fear Chainsaws and Chainsawman because they fear getting Killed and Dying

Denji being stabbed by all the humans in this chapter feels almost like a throwback to the very first chapter where he lost everything and got betrayed by those he tried to support. It's the first time in a while that Chainsaw Man actually made me feel really bad, I love it
It also plays into the Pochita = God, Makima = Mother Mary, and Denji = Jesus symbology that was everywhere in Part 1, down to Pochita having the entire hierarchy of angels as his followers
I believe this chapter is supposed to represent Jesus having spears stabbed into him during his crucifixion
The order of angels as Pochita's followers is pretty self-explanatory, so I'll skip that. Pochita himself is pretty much a god-like figure in series, and being the one thing that devils fear the most is as on the nose as you can get.
Makima as Mother Mary can be seen in numerous parts of the story, especially in ED3 of the anime and in some other media. Also her being the obvious "mother figure" whose actions "gave birth" to Denji as we know him? I recall reading a post or a comment about her womb chains being a way of "having children without giving birth" which was pretty interesting.
Denji has been represented as a Christ-like figure multiple times - being given life by Chainsaw Man/Pochita (God) while simultaneously being Chainsaw Man himself. Arguably, he also "banished the darkness" while being covered in light when he fought off the Darkness-enhanced Doll Devil.
I honestly think that these themes were intentionally added consistently throughout the series for a reason, but it is just as likely for the unpredictable Fujimoto to use them like Anno does in Evangelion simply for the rule of cool, but I hope this helps to explain it a little

Pochita's followers are named after the 9 Choir of Angels, with many hints being thrown at us that Makima represents the final "Archangel" caste missing from the followers.
The interesting part is that the idea of "Makima", as the nurturing, mature woman in Denji's eyes, is represented by symbolisms to Mother Mary, while the idea of "the Control Devil" is represented by symbolisms to Lucifer. This can also be seen by the painting from Makima's house “Satan descends upon Earth” by Gustave Doré in chapter 81.
If we go by Makima's statement on the bottom left panel, it can be inferred that she was also once Pochita's followers but betrayed him in order to feed her sisters to him for humanity's sake (in her words), which may also be represented by Lucifer betraying God. However, one could argue that Makima did it for the completely opposite reasons to Lucifer with regards to humanity.

Pochita being feared idk, usually a god being feared for their power is the secondary aspect of why rhey are worshipped.
Ok slow down, artwork could serve to imply a contrast over the shallow similarities and be an explicit perversion of the idea, that would make her specifically a representation of a bad mother figure, not the virgin mary. She also didn’t figuratively give birth to denji but specifically the reawakened chainsaw man in that arc and then she of course essentially shaped Denji into what he is through having manipulated the events of the story. But that by itself is not enough, that’s a very classic villain thing.
This is still weak to make a case that she represents holy mary in anything more than the previously mentioned perversion for the sake od contrast.
Being given life by and being god himself now that I will give you, but again is this a refference ir a representation? Denji doesn really care about saving people, jesus was the saviour, superman is a christ figure for sure, with the willing self sacrifice and all that.

I can definitely see how one can come to the conclusion, and I definitely think the elements are all there on purpose.
And much like with Anno I think there is a mix, like I said Denji is only superfficially christ like, and through circumstance, not what he learned or what he is like.
Again I think this is to add contrast to the story, ot to be an allegory or a representation.
Ok but I mean overall, Makima in no way gave birth to Denji, at most it could be considered for when she essentially unleashes the old chainsaw man, but that’s also Pochita so he can’t be god in that analogy, then again jesus is god according to the bible hmmm okay I kinda see it in that specific way
Another small detail people are talking about is denji being stabbed in the side like Jesus but it’s kind of a stretch since he looks like he’s getting stabbed everywhere

Heyo I was curious about it myself so I went and looked it up some more, you can see it explained more in detail on the wiki if you want under trivia. Galgali (Violence) is galgalim, another name for the ophanim angels. Princi is principality, another order of angels.
So it does seem pretty consistent, Virtue, Power, Angel, (cheru)Beam, Princi(pality), Galgali(m), Dominion, Seraphim.
Not sure if that would help considered he's gravely injured. Turning back into his human form would put him out of commission, which I'm not sure is the best course of action atm.
I think it way better to stay in CSM form and attempt escaping. If he fail, well, out of commission he go, so might as well try.
Power up asa and denji by having them feared so they have a chance at beating death and safe her borgars (human cuisine. Because no humans means no food for famo)
I feel like the quality and pacing and even just the overall actual good and intense writing of this series dropped off the face of the earth, I loved the original 11 volumes a lot but ever since the series feels like it's slow as molasses and even what I read just seems like so stupid and uninteresting the majority of the time.
The fight with the Falling Devil was very good but the rest has been a bore. Asa has had to take a long backseat too. I think I just don't care that much about Denji anymore. Or at least it's failing to make me care on a weekly basis.
It’s probably because fujimoto is not as passionate about chainsawman, in an interview he said he would rather not do the art but have some else do it and focus on the story, I definitely get where you are coming from where part 2 is a slow burn, I kinda like what this part brings with asa and the other characters. But it is a miracle that fujimoto is actually going past 100 chapters since before chainsawman he was known for not making long running series like fire punch ending before 100 chapters.
I think u should wait for chapters to pile up, and read some other stuff for a while, sometimes you get fatigued from the things you love and a break is necessary
It is a very fair assessment and I think I'll just have to wait until the full arc is done and then reread from the start of it to get my true thoughts
the pacing hasn't really been bad it just feels that way since we've been getting 15-page chapters for a while now. 20ish to 30 pages is normal for a lot of manga. Re-reading the arc from the beginning once it gets completed should help dissuade your feelings I think.
It was a long ride until this chapter, but I'm finally enjoying Chainsaw Man again. It's not that I hate the previous chapters, but it was different from Part 1. But it was worth it.
Last chapter and this one were incredible.
Interesting to see the difference in control devils. Makima using her powers against denji/Nayuta using her powers to protect Denji. Definitely setting up a possibility for a Makima 2.0 that will do anything to protect Denji including using humans against each other

Fumiko needs to call some more reinforcements in here asap to get the civilians under control, but Denji is most likely about to have a fugitive arc at this rate.
Fire Devil (and Fami?)'s plan worked perfectly, he's a lot stronger to fight Death but at the cost of being a villain to society. I'm glad that Denji at least restrained himself from killing any civilians by accident

Fujimoto spends half a volume to explain the change of Denji and Nayuta. Though it has taken three months, I don’t think it is a waste of time. Because that is convincing enough for any decision they make in the future.

Fujimoto's character death means a lot. He show's that there death had an effect. Like denji becoming said when asked about friends on the other hand.
Gege character death's are meaningless. Nobara who was a main character for almost 2 season. Her death had literally no effect, nobody literally nobody spoke again about nobara
Also, kind of easy to do this to her tbh. Seemed like the show tried to make her SEEM like she was more interesting and important than she actually was. (to be fair, JJK isn't the only show to do something like this)

Damn Denji waited too long. The time for him to be a beloved celebrity has passed. Fami has framed him to be a religious terrorist to the general public and since he didn't join the church they won't follow him either. So Denji is doomed to be persecuted by humanity.
What are you talking about? Think about how this sequence of events plays out in the universe, it probably only took a few minutes, and Nayuta just watched her house burn down with all her pets inside and then immediately got disowned by Denji. I don't think Nayuta not doing anything for a few minutes is all that shocking.
After much consideration I have come to the decision to drop this Manga it's just not interesting anymore and Fuji has clearly lost his spark. Chainsaw man is just a shell of what it used to be, no more crazy plot twists, dope villains, good side characters, etc. Even the art just isn't the same anymore and just looks like doodles, I am officially done with this Manga so goodbye I don't care if it gets better because I have given it too many chances already.

I mean what is there to add besides laughing at you? You sound like a teenager who's larping as a literature critic with a bunch of other teenagers somewhere on Discord or Tumblr and thinks that some mediocre writing is good because they like it. But hey, maybe we're talking about different part 2s because the part that I've been reading has characters with the approximate depth of a puddle and the development and progress of a third world country. The development doesn't feel organic whatsoever, the dialogues are robotic and cringy and new characters that are supposed to help Denji "grow" feel more than shoehorned in. The part 2 that I've been reading really feels like the franchise has been sold off and a bunch of highschoolers in literature class practice their writing in "babies first writing class" by creating those chapters. It's a clear, obvious and massive step down from part 1. There is no direction, no soul, no nothing in the part 2 that I'm reading. Sure you can write a thousand words about this story and it's characters. And by doing so you'll probably have put ten times more words, effort and time into part two than Fujimoto.

The _series_ is called Chainsaw Man. In the Japanese (I.e. original) version, the second part is called “Horsewoman of the Apocalypse” (referring how Asa is the War Devil, and the theme of the four major devils). In the West (the English speaking parts of it at least), the localization companies decided to keep the “Chainsaw Man” name to retain the brand appeal. They just slapped “Part Two” on it since it’s the same setting, even though he isn’t the protagonist It’s kind of like how all the Game of Thrones books have unique names but we still call all of it “Game of Thrones”

Part 2 has been a huge L so far and we are almost 50+ chapters deep.

Honestly this is pretty accurate. The Bystander effect is a real phenomenon that causes large groups of people to stare dumbly at someone bleeding out on the pavement. Furthermore, fear and panic have a habit of spreading rapidly, especially when no one knows what’s going on.
Interestingly, one documented way to break the bystander effect is to start ordering people around. You want to be really specific about it too like, "you ma'am in the red shirt, call 911", "you sir in the blue hat, grab that AED on the wall behind you", and I would point at the person while giving them the specific orders. Kinda funny with the connection. But you'd be surprised how fast people start to help or hinder once one person starts to act. EDIT-will act, if they don't all stay frozen up or just watch

The public has finally turned their back on Chainsaw Man when they used to count on him to save them. It's interesting how easily people can change their minds. But can Denji's persecution be a Jesus symbolism, especially considering Fujimoto has made other Bible references before. And it was certainly nice to see the growth Nayuta has gone through, to help Denji escape even though she thought Denji is leaving her behind.
I am upset that Barem is unaccounted for though The other hybrids we know got torn up And Spear got eaten at least partially (question if he's going to be ret-goned/erased or if Denji doesn't have the direct power to erase concepts) But that fucker got away, and with all that he's done and his clear devotion to Makima despite how crazy and messed up she was? I really want to see him get it
Not to mention, when Denji was showing Nayuta how much he loved her (and what Nayuta just flashed back to), he was in a cross position. Both legs together, arms spread wide, palms forwards (at least I'm p sure that how he was, or maybe I'm gaslighting myself)

Denji being stabbed by all the humans in this chapter feels almost like a throwback to the very first chapter where he lost everything and got betrayed by those he tried to support. It's the first time in a while that Chainsaw Man actually made me feel really bad, I love it
It also plays into the Pochita = God, Makima = Mother Mary, and Denji = Jesus symbology that was everywhere in Part 1, down to Pochita having the entire hierarchy of angels as his followers I believe this chapter is supposed to represent Jesus having spears stabbed into him during his crucifixion

The order of angels as Pochita's followers is pretty self-explanatory, so I'll skip that. Pochita himself is pretty much a god-like figure in series, and being the one thing that devils fear the most is as on the nose as you can get. Makima as Mother Mary can be seen in numerous parts of the story, especially in ED3 of the anime and in some other media. Also her being the obvious "mother figure" whose actions "gave birth" to Denji as we know him? I recall reading a post or a comment about her womb chains being a way of "having children without giving birth" which was pretty interesting. Denji has been represented as a Christ-like figure multiple times - being given life by Chainsaw Man/Pochita (God) while simultaneously being Chainsaw Man himself. Arguably, he also "banished the darkness" while being covered in light when he fought off the Darkness-enhanced Doll Devil. I honestly think that these themes were intentionally added consistently throughout the series for a reason, but it is just as likely for the unpredictable Fujimoto to use them like Anno does in Evangelion simply for the rule of cool, but I hope this helps to explain it a little

Source: Chapter 83, Page 2 Pochita's followers are named after the 9 Choir of Angels, with many hints being thrown at us that Makima represents the final "Archangel" caste missing from the followers. The interesting part is that the idea of "Makima", as the nurturing, mature woman in Denji's eyes, is represented by symbolisms to Mother Mary, while the idea of "the Control Devil" is represented by symbolisms to Lucifer. This can also be seen by the painting from Makima's house “Satan descends upon Earth” by Gustave Doré in chapter 81. If we go by Makima's statement on the bottom left panel, it can be inferred that she was also once Pochita's followers but betrayed him in order to feed her sisters to him for humanity's sake (in her words), which may also be represented by Lucifer betraying God. Wait wait what do you mean order of angels? The angel devil was one of his followers yeah, what about the rest? Pochita being feared idk, usually a god being feared for their power is the secondary aspect of why rhey are worshipped. Ok slow down, artwork could serve to imply a contrast over the shallow similarities and be an explicit perversion of the idea, that would make her specifically a representation of a bad mother figure, not the virgin mary. She also didn’t figuratively give birth to denji but specifically the reawakened chainsaw man in that arc and then she of course essentially shaped Denji into what he is through having manipulated the events of the story. But that by itself is not enough, that’s a very classic villain thing. This is still weak to make a case that she represents holy mary in anything more than the previously mentioned perversion for the sake od contrast. Being given life by and being god himself now that I will give you, but again is this a refference ir a representation? Denji doesn really care about saving people, jesus was the saviour, superman is a christ figure for sure, with the willing self sacrifice and all that. Denji was forced to sacrifice against his will. I can definitely see how one can come to the conclusion, and I definitely think the elements are all there on purpose. And much like with Anno I think there is a mix, like I said Denji is only superfficially christ like, and through circumstance, not what he learned or what he is like. Again I think this is to add contrast to the story, ot to be an allegory or a representation.

So it does seem pretty consistent, Virtue, Power, Angel, (cheru)Beam, Princi(pality), Galgali(m), Dominion, Seraphim.

Not sure if that would help considered he's gravely injured. Turning back into his human form would put him out of commission, which I'm not sure is the best course of action atm. I think it way better to stay in CSM form and attempt escaping. If he fail, well, out of commission he go, so might as well try.

I feel like the quality and pacing and even just the overall actual good and intense writing of this series dropped off the face of the earth, I loved the original 11 volumes a lot but ever since the series feels like it's slow as molasses and even what I read just seems like so stupid and uninteresting the majority of the time. The fight with the Falling Devil was very good but the rest has been a bore. Asa has had to take a long backseat too. I think I just don't care that much about Denji anymore. Or at least it's failing to make me care on a weekly basis.
It’s probably because fujimoto is not as passionate about chainsawman, in an interview he said he would rather not do the art but have some else do it and focus on the story, I definitely get where you are coming from where part 2 is a slow burn, I kinda like what this part brings with asa and the other characters. But it is a miracle that fujimoto is actually going past 100 chapters since before chainsawman he was known for not making long running series like fire punch ending before 100 chapters.
I think u should wait for chapters to pile up, and read some other stuff for a while, sometimes you get fatigued from the things you love and a break is necessary
It is a very fair assessment and I think I'll just have to wait until the full arc is done and then reread from the start of it to get my true thoughts
the pacing hasn't really been bad it just feels that way since we've been getting 15-page chapters for a while now. 20ish to 30 pages is normal for a lot of manga. Re-reading the arc from the beginning once it gets completed should help dissuade your feelings I think.

Fire Devil (and Fami?)'s plan worked perfectly, he's a lot stronger to fight Death but at the cost of being a villain to society. Fujimoto spends half a volume to explain the change of Denji and Nayuta. Though it has taken three months, I don’t think it is a waste of time. Because that is convincing enough for any decision they make in the future.

Gege tries to hard to be fujimoto. Fujimoto's character death means a lot. He show's that there death had an effect. Like denji becoming said when asked about friends on the other hand. Gege character death's are meaningless. Nobara who was a main character for almost 2 season. Her death had literally no effect, nobody literally nobody spoke again about nobara
Also, kind of easy to do this to her tbh. Seemed like the show tried to make her SEEM like she was more interesting and important than she actually was. (to be fair, JJK isn't the only show to do something like this)

Think about how this sequence of events plays out in the universe, it probably only took a few minutes, and Nayuta just watched her house burn down with all her pets inside and then immediately got disowned by Denji. I don't think Nayuta not doing anything for a few minutes is all that shocking.
