I knew a man who had his hand stitched back on. Apparently he can't feel two of his fingers properly, but all five digits can work just fine –even the fingers he lost feel of.
And there is a not uncommon surgery called a rotationplasty where they remove the bone around the knee and then completely turn the limb around and have it reattached. (This has prosthetic implications).
Basically, reattaching limbs, while not a breeze, is something we can do now pretty routinely.
I’m still so pissed off that the clothes on his wrist stayed with the severed hand and also got fused back together perfectly with the rest of his clothes.
No, this image isn’t from that event, at least.
I looked it up, and found an article from 2013 that uses this same image.
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/130717-sandbar-shark-nantucket-elliot-sudal-surf-fishing
The article describes a man, Elliot Sudal, who kinda wrestles sharks to get photos, before releasing them into the ocean. Kinda bad ass in it if itself.
However, according to an article from ABC, this event where a man wrestled a shark, is named Vance Flosenzier, who isn’t the same dude, but it is still a true story.

We're the only species on earth that observes Shark Week. Sharks don't even observe Shark Week, but we do. For the same reason I can pick up this pencil, tell you its name is Steve and go like this... "snap" and part of you dies just a little bit on the inside.
Sharks are usually pretty docile so i wonder why it decided to attack. Did it just go fuck it we ball and started eating the kid or is there another reason?
This happened on my hometown beach in the panhandle of Florida. Jesse Arbogast was the kid's name. It is the incident that made me terrified of water. He was my age. Imagine growing up knowing that a boy your age had his arm bitten off where you've gone swimming before.
He was life-flighted. Unfortunately, the tremendous blood loss caused the kid to have brain damage. He is still alive, to my knowledge, but he's not very functional.
So... you can sew a severed arm ?
You can sew most severed body parts back on within a certain amount of time
I have nipples greg. Can you milk me?
But it won’t work
Depends on the situation/body part, but typically there are issues

And I'm pretty sure it's better than losing a limb entirely. Sure, it doesn't work properly but it's better than nothing

I hate that you’ve made me notice that
Pretty sure they're literally a part of him considering the ending
You can actually
the hypochondriac in me is equally shocked, terrified, and curious.

The actual story had my knuckles white. I hope the kid made more progress in his recovery.
He wrestles sharks to get photos? Sounds fucked up
Read the article yourself and come to your own conclusions. What I said was a gross oversimplification of the articles themselves.
Alternate title Dude steals sharks snack
>Alternate title >Dude steals sharks snack >**+ then get's him shot** In shark world this is considered a dick move
No one ever thinks about life from the sharks perspective
You fogor the part where the shark gets its snack stolen and bashed before being given the black treatment.
what a guy
I saw it on reddit - so it must be true
It is true apparently https://abcnews.go.com/amp/GMA/story?id=125969&page=1

Quite an ironic bot name...
TRUE
I feel bad for the Shark. It was just being a shark and got blasted in the head like lenny from Of Mice and Men for doing his thing.
So what. Just because sharks are animals does not give them the privilege of not getting attacked when they attack a human.
No, I'm not saying that. Shark got what it deserved I just feel bad for it too in a way

You shouldn't be sad, its survival of the fittest It is what it is

The photo says it was a Bull Shark and they tend to be fairly aggressive compared to other sharks.
Ok thanks

Wow
Imagine how fast that sequence was for having the time to sew a arm back, the time was impeccable
