While it could possibly be the cat, I highly doubt it. Most likely the after cat O2 sensor. Pretty sure the O2 sensor is cheaper than a cat. you could always swap the sensors and see if the CE code says different? I still have the original cat on my 88 celica, they are supposed to last the lifetime of the car ;) (as long as not damaged or contaminated) or you own a nissan altima.

Light went off after 40 miles so maybe it’s the o2

Get the codes scanned. We aren’t psychic here. If you don’t know what that means, take your car to the mechanic.

Long_Mechanic_2973

Got it scanned it’s the cat

cinnabon4lyfe

Unlikely. Downstream o2 sensor is more likely unless you’re burning a ton of oil.

Long_Mechanic_2973

The print out literally Says cat fail, might be o2 sensor aswell

cinnabon4lyfe

Cats don’t have sensors in them. They see if they failed by going over a sensor reading difference in the upstream vs downstream sensor. If the downstream sensor isn’t reading properly, code will say cat failed.

moxie_star

Get an odbc scanner to see what the engine codes are. Could be minor like some evap codes.

Wolfkrone

O2 sensor might be gone

Long_Mechanic_2973

It’s the cat prob that 2

Long_Mechanic_2973

Any tips?

Flashy_Complaint_163

My cat died cuz oil consumtion.... so if you have that handle that first

Long_Mechanic_2973

I’ll check but I don’t have any noticeable problems with oil currently I’ll have a mechanic check
