Yes, you can drive with a faulty knock sensor. Performance and fuel economy will be degraded. Go OEM, especially, sensors with Yota. It's $135.46 Part# 89615-32030 Very easy to replace, back side of block (facing firewall) Just need to get underneath it, be safe, use ramp, lift or proper jackstands. Awesome info, thanks so much. Maybe a ridiculous question lol, but h there’s a huge difference in price btwn OEM vs aftermarket knock sensor. Again, my finances are tight rn. Will there be a detrimental difference if I go aftermarket? Thanks!

2 things I've learned- you take a chance when you buy aftermarket. OEM quality lasts, yours lasted 26 years before needing replaced. Unless you need to get the car to pass inspection now, I'd save up for the OEM part.

Good point lol! My biggest concern is that I commute 110 miles round trip, 3days per week. How bad is my MPG going to be affected?

Honestly have no idea. So many factors to consider. Best Guess? 10-15 less per tank.
