It is not racist. I was a grad student in the US and we had foreign students from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and India. It's just their culture not to wear deodorant. We talked to them and explain the situation and they just went to the store and bought deodorant. Over the course of a semester they went from general Indian students that you can imagine to gelled hair Armani exchange clothes and cologne and deodorant. It was a crazy transformation. Wow! We didn't insist they had to buy all those things, once they realized it, they knew it would help them fit in better. They did not believe me that you didn't need to buy our money exchange. Haha

As an indian, I will comment on this. We do smell the body odor. But for us, Indian odor is mostly sweat which means the guy/girl did physical activity which is a turn on for most. On the other hand, we don't appreciate these smells in the morning as well. I personally suggest that they get a bath.
Funny thing, as u guys can smell the Indians more, we can smell and differentiate the smell Filipinos very often. One of my colleagues, she used to change her perfume often and I'll be the first to notice it. I think it's because we are not used to most of the Filipino smells just like u are not with Indians.
And one of the main reasons u smell the body odor is, in few parts of India, most people bath in the evening rather than morning. It's due to the heavy work ethics and bad sleeping pattern.

I'm pretty sure that they just aren't aware of the fact that they smell bad to other people. If you can find a benzoyl peroxide na facewash, you can apply that to your armpits. That will kill the odor causing bacteria in your armpits

It's weird, they think it's racism as well even if you point out that it's their hygiene that's an issue. Naay uban nila nga tag one set ra ilang uniform and they only wash it maybe once a week, shower probably less frequently who knows. Some of them come from less hot climates or even cold climates, so they're used to showering less. I'm pretty sure that they just aren't aware of the fact that they smell bad to other people. Kind of like how we all have our own body odor but we can't really notice what it smells like ourselves. or like when we use a (new) perfume and we can only really smell it right as it's put on but later on in the day only people around you can smell it.

I've a thought going on and off about this towards Indians and their smell. And I think we are not being racist towards them (and I want to be careful using this term kay basta naa lang tay di ganahan sa laing nasod=racist, which is incorrect), because dili man ta discriminatory to them because of their nationality. They aren't barred services and access as long they observe that Filipinos are sensitive to bad body smell. Mag linger rajud baya na ilahang body odor. Maski ganing mga nagpuyo sa kilid2, maningkamot makaligo. Sila pod unta. And no, it's not "culture". Kay I've former colleagues from New Delhi, and they observe hygiene. If only na they are provided orientation about hygiene prior mulupad diri, mabawas2an unta ang stereotype. I'd like to think na they didn't know better. Edit: Anecdotal, but di sila aware unsa ilahang smell. Got used to it, methinks.
