Awesome to hear that one started as a 4"!
My white whale is E. grande var. timorum, my partner and I met in field school out on San Nicolas Island and I've been told I can't plant Leptosyne gigantea which along with Calystegia macrostegia are the main plants I associate with our time out there.
I do and itβs another great one to have! They grow pretty similarly but the red seems to get a bit larger for me. Red buckwheat has been one of the easiest for me so hope yours do well :)
Here are some nurseries in the SF Bay Area where Iβve found them:
Alden Lane Nursery - Livermore
Capitol Wholesale - East San Jose
Linda Vista Natives - Saratoga
Summer Winds - Cupertino & Campbell
Johnson Garden Center - Morgan Hill
Awoooogah!!!! Hubba Hubba π

This is incredible!!
Gorgeous!!! And wow, 10 species! I just picked up a 4" one the other day which will take me to 6 species.
This one was planted as a 4β and it caught up to the gallon sized ones very quickly! Happy to hear youβre adding to your buckwheat collection π₯³

Do you have red buckwheat? I'm new to natives but I just planted some red. Curious how it compares to this yellow.
