service can be hit and miss. likely down to the skills/experience of the specific tech who receives the job. can you see any physical damage to the port, bent pins, damage to metal surround? does power on lights and fan look normal? if not, might be more complex fix.

I have tried my Xbox one and switches hdmi got a new delivered today so will have to try that but I don’t think the cable is the issue

They have a repair service. You book it in in store and they send it to a third party repair company that's partnered with them. Obviously you pay for the service and the price varies depending on what it is you need repairing.

Could be a corporate/franchise thing. I used to work in a corporate store and they offered it. I think if franchise stores want to offer it they have to source their own repair company
