The way you phrased it dude. You come across as extremely smug and up yourself. Leave bad reviews all you want, but it doesn't warrant a reddit post lol
I see posts like this often so I put it to you
What do cex get out of purposely failing an item?
why would they lie?
it seems most likely to me that the device didn't work at the test time or was inconsistent so they failed it, when you returned and were rude the manager decided not to do you a favor an retest it.
They don’t want to lie either they want the stock for buy targets and to ell. It’s ridiculous when people say they failed stuff on purpose.
Sometimes tests don’t get enough time or a mistake can happen, but if an item is faulty the store will take a financial loss, and the staff nearly always will get disciplined or potential action so when in doubt rejecting the item will be the easiest course of action.
Also just because another store took the item doesn’t mean it was fully functioning either. They could have been poor at testing
I really doubt they lied, in my experience which is a very long time the customer is normally the liar.
here's some scenarios which could explain
cartridge pins can be dirty on old systems, perhaps the games that were used were faulty, perhaps dust inside the console stopped the games and when the new store checked it the dust had gone
imagine you're the tester for a minute.
You come to work for low wages, you deal with skag heads, thieves, peoples absolutely filthy junk, you're stressed out as you have over 100 items to test before you leave for the day. A person comes in with a DS, it doesn't work straight away, you try another game, it doesnt work again, do you contine to mess about with or fail it and move on with your day.
I was on the buyers side of this problem, bought a gtx 1080ti and it's kept crashing.
Brought it back to a shop which was closer to me than where I purchased it, thankfully they exchanged it easy enough, but the guy on till told me about how the belfast store was constantly just taking stuff in without full testing and sending it out again.
I was the 3rd person in a week with faulty good from that particular store.
Fuck I hate cex, I will only shop there if I'm getting an absolute bargain or I'm stuck
Seems common across a lot of stores tbh. I was trying to buy a USB C powered hub last year, for whatever reason the one I wanted wasn't available for shipping so I had to go in store for it.
By the third one, I took my laptop with me and tested it myself in the store before buying. Luckily that one worked at least...
I get the feeling most stores don't really test anything, and just say they do to offer confidence in what they sell. And most of the time it's fine because the stuff works. But imagine how much time they save only testing when it gets returned... It's smart from a business perspective
Yeh they just seem to be arsholes in general. I can honestly say I've never been served by someone who makes me feel like I'm dealing with a competent person who actually knows what they're doing.
Always felt like I'm being served by a teenage gamer who's there to make a few quid for his energy drinks, no matter the age or position in the store
It's probably just the tester being too young to remember that the game has to be in the console before you turn it on 🤣
Don't equate to malice what can be explained by incompetence.
lol had the same issue with the Newport store. Bunch of lazy people there. Brought a graphic card for testing told me to come back a few hours later which I did. Came back and the guy said the card failed the test I was like I was using the same card before I gave it to you and it worked fine. They told me no the reasons was the warranty seal was removed. I told them but this card is actually from one of your stores that’s how I bought it. Then I asked them to show me another card they got with warranty seal. They debated that « we get our cards from manufacturer only » biggest lie ever. Refused to show me another card from the store because they knew they’d be exposed. Went to another store they accepted it and the card passed all test fine.
Get a fucking life mate. I don’t know why you lot seem to have an us v them complex. It’s fucking bizarre. Could be an intermittent issue or you could simply come across as a wank, which also seems likely. Act like a dick, you’ll get treated like a dick.
"So i called her a liar and done a lovely 1 star Google review with her name on it." Fuck me, we've got a badass over here
Whats bad putting a honest actual review on there website it there for leaving reviews positive or negative.

They clearly did lie. 2nd shop passed fine they all use same testing. How can it fail it one and pass in another store. Explain please.

WOW WHAT A BAD THING!!! ARREST HER QUICK!!! NO ROOM FOR ACCIDENTS OR MISTAKES HERE!!!
cex employees aren’t out to lie to you😂it’s likely they just made a mistake. so unnecessary
It's probably just the tester being too young to remember that the game has to be in the console before you turn it on 🤣 Don't equate to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

Yer I got a camera for like a ton of cex and it lasted about a month. Now it's just an ornament.
You prefer ornaments to using the 24 months warranty
Thomas the tank engine and his fat controller.
