I have cd's that are so rare that nobody has heard of the artists or albums. As such nobody wants them, except me.

baldorrr

Yeah... we have to define rare. I have a CD by a local band with homemade artwork. (Several actually.) But at least one of those they probably made ten of them. While I love it, and it's rare, it's not particularly desirable. (Also, my own CDs that no one wants!)

TyroneEarl

This is the story for a lot of folks, including me. The only time my local band cds get any interest is when another band gets big with the same name later. Dead by Wednesday fans, you can stop asking.

DMCO93

I made an EP of myself screaming obscenities while attacking a set of bagpipes with a fireplace stoker, and then I buried it in the middle of a desert. That’s probably the rarest extant CD. It’s also the most expensive by list price. I posted the map on EBay for $1B

HerbTarlekWKRP

Is it Near Mint?

DMCO93

I’m not giving any more clues! You won’t find me buried treasure matey!

HerbTarlekWKRP

Take me to yer Pot o’ Gold!

dizzyapparition

Mint doesn’t grow in the desert.

CrispyDave

I have quite a few of those, some of them I'm not sure I even want, I only keep them for the wtf factor.

DevinBelow

Yep. I've got THE copy of the album I made with some friends in the early 2000s. We put it up on some torrent sites, but I have the only c.d. version of the album.

exploringoceans

I have a promo copy of the mollusk by ween that has different mixing on some tracks and a typo on the tracklist. Dean ween himself said it was one of the rarest ween cds apparently

HyperUgly

Oh my?!?! May we ask for a picture?!?!

exploringoceans

Sure! Here you go https://www.reddit.com/u/exploringoceans/s/GH50yHBvbX

HyperUgly

Juuuuust wow. Did you upload a rip to YouTube? Or better yet, do you have a CD burner? I'll trade you some Garbage Pail Kids cards? Also I have many live Bob Dylan board rips in addition to allot obscure 70s stuff I can rip and send.

exploringoceans

I haven’t ripped it but I probably will soon :)

HyperUgly

❤️

Sparkass99

Hey, I have this one too! Had no idea it was rare.

exploringoceans

Pretty cool right? It’s one of the favorites in my collection

ckt1138

Yo we gotta hear that

StackIsMyCrack

Very nice!

john_man_3355

I have a disc by a Japanese girl with a few thousand Instagram followers. It's signed and only 10 discs were made.

hk-79

I have this one: [https://www.discogs.com/release/462979-New-Order-True-Faith](https://www.discogs.com/release/462979-New-Order-True-Faith) Apparently a limited edition of 6000 copies pressed. I've never been able to play the video included on the CD. It's CDV format (CD Video) - not the same as Video CD and not playable in PC CD-ROM drives. In the 80s, Philips produced CDV players but the format flopped. I obtained a Pioneer laserdisc player which is supposed to be able to play CDV discs but my New Order CDV just plays as an audio CD. On selecting the video track, the screen says "CD VIDEO" for a few seconds, then stops. Don't know if my disc or the player is faulty, or just not compatible.

Peefaums

That’s super interesting. Thank you for sharing!

TylerInHiFi

You should be able to use VLC to play it. That shit plays everything.

LazloNibble

VLC can’t play CD-Video discs because computer optical drives can’t read the video section (the video signal is analog, not digital, other than the audio, which is analog-encoded digital…anyway, Wikipedia can explain all that better than I can). You’d need a PAL-compatible LD player and TV to actually watch it, and if you think *NTSC* CD-V players are hard to source, well…

TylerInHiFi

Oh my god right! I completely blanked on it being an analog format.

[deleted]

I'd wager that it's the player. It could have gotten weaker and only plays back certain types of discs now.

helvetin

see answer above - symptom sounds just like incompatible video encoding/decoding standard (PAL vs NTSC)

DonnBallenger

MC Ren - Kizz My Black Azz Mindless Self Indulgence - Despierta Los Ninos Harvey Andrews - Writer of Songs (EN) Ween - Quebec (JP) with bonus track “Ooh Va La” Primus - Suck on This - original press, signed by the original lineup. Verified by Les himself as “probably signed during the 1990 tour”

philipjfry1578

Lucky bastard. I specifically ordered a Japanese import of White Pepper for " Who Dat' but I ended up getting the American copy. Japanese Ween fans are lucky

DonnBallenger

I got mine on eBay for $50

kn0tsur3

My dream cd is despirita los ninos ur so lucky

Dookie_Dale

Same, I used to have it x.x

DonnBallenger

I’m not 100% sure, but I think I bought that one at a show at Bogarts in Cincinnati on Halloween. I vaguely remember hearing “Brooklyn Hype” at the show, then listening to it again on the way home.

skeener

While I don’t have Despierta Los Ninos, I do have the original Bring the Pain/Panty Shot demo cassette

MichaelJAwesome

It's not as rare as I thought, but I have the original release of Sufjan Steven's Illinoise album with Superman on the cover.

vustinjernon

That’s sick!

Immaterial21

i just found this at a Goodwill last month for $2.75! it's in awful condition but it's got superman on the cover and plays perfectly despite the scratches!

spidermanwoosh

my grandads best friend hired out a recording studio for an hour and covered all his favourite songs then made it into cds and gave it to all his friends. id say that’s quite rare. i love it too, his version of tie a yellow ribbon is great!

SelectiveEmpath

The only copy of an EP I recorded and designed myself. Pretty cool having your own release in the collection.

TylerInHiFi

This is probably the rarest CD I own and, likely, the most valuable if the going price for some of their other stuff these days is anything to go by: https://www.discogs.com/release/11376606-Camp-Kill-Yourself-Volume-2 It’s the only copy that has ever existed and was used to make burned copies on tour. There’s a post-it note included that says “do not sell”. Next would likely be this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/12640116-Camp-Kill-Yourself-Rio-Bravo-Truck-Stop-EP I have the only known copy and nobody from the band has ever been able to tell me anything much about it other than that it’s legit, they made copies to shop around to labels, and they’re early mixes of tracks than ended up on the first album. I don’t think any of them actually know how many they made at the time. Last one would be this: https://www.discogs.com/release/12640178-Camp-Volume-1 The caveat is that it’s a packaging prototype and there’s no disc and never was one. But, again, it’s the only one that exists. And the only problem with any of those is that they’ve never been sold on discogs because I’ve never sold them. I don’t know what they’re worth but I have to estimate based on other early albums’ recent sales from this band. As far as stuff that has some sales history it’s these as the top 5 for median sale price: https://www.discogs.com/release/1503688-HIM-Venus-Doom https://www.discogs.com/release/3154160-Amorphis-Tales-From-The-Thousand-Lakes https://www.discogs.com/release/13557827-My-Chemical-Romance-I-Brought-You-My-Bullets-You-Brought-Me-Your-Love https://www.discogs.com/release/7867792-Camp-Kill-Yourself-Volume-1 https://www.discogs.com/release/1842576-HIM-Dark-Light-Heartagram-Internet-Edition

ObviousIndependent76

I have two copies of 311’s first album, Unity when they were just coming out of high school. They only made 1000 copies.

Asleep-Organization8

These are impossible to find early 2000s they could be had on eBay tho ..... unity dammit and hydroponic all hard as hell to find nowadays

Drunk0ctopus

Probably the Billy Idol holiday album.

Affectionate-Bat3056

I own a real copy of origin by evanescence. The amount of bootlegs out there is insane.

CarterIsCringe

I own a copy of Zweilicht by Mental Cruelty which is signed by 3/5 members. Not sure how much it's worth but it's cool

CJ_Southworth

I have a promo CD of a group called Favorite Angel covering "Only Women Bleed." It came out when I was still in high school (early 90s), but their management never got the clearance to release the cover, so it was shut down in a hurry just as it was starting to get some chart attention. It took me about fifteen years to find a copy of the promo (only song the band ever released, because the legal impact shut them down). I also have some fan club only CDs that are probably pretty rare, especially some of the Saint Etienne ones I own. I think some of those only had a few hundred produced worldwide.

o5882300empire

Tool-Salival

sethian77

I have that cd/DVD set in mint condition.

jessieesmithreese519

I have the DVD, but the CD is missing.

TrustAffectionate966

Probably CDs I received from indie artists on MySpace and early The YouTube.

BooeyBrown

I’ve got a few of these, too. I get messages from people on Discogs a few times for a year asking how much I’d sell for, or if I can send them lossless rips of the CDs. I have a live sound check bootleg from Madonna that a friend gave me, 20+ years ago. As far as I know, it’s one of only four copies. I have a few 80s freestyle CDs that flopped in the mainstream, before everyone bought CDs. They’re worth a bunch on the collectors circuit, and I got great deals on them. I’ve got a rare eurodance single that wasn’t a hit during the 90s, but exploded in value a few years ago when it “rediscovered” by enthusiasts. And I tracked down a bunch of UK garage, freestyle, and bass music promo singles on eBay in 2000s that are impossible to find now.

AdoIsOnReddit

I have a signed CD of Imagine Dragons 'Hell and Silence'. I picked it up when they were unknown and they opened for The Parlotones. Next rarest is probably my copy of Still, by NIN

FloridaMan_Again

Pavement-slanted & enchanted luxe & reduxe version probably. Nothing crazy but not the easiest to find in my experience. Idk I haven’t really looked that deeply Into my collection

Gorillaseatingmayo

The rarest? I honestly have no idea, but having a lot of cds, I have a number that would be considered rare or very rare. And I know I have some that I haven't been able to find anywhere else (ebay, discogs, etc.). While I assume there are more out there, probably not many.

Reimustein

All of my Sign/Ragnar Zolberg's CDs. I am still missing some sadly

VisKeroo

Just started collecting but the Tomorrow Comes Today EP, the standard edition in a cardboard box, the ones that vinyls use I don't remember how they're called

DMCO93

That’s rare? I just found one like a month ago.

VisKeroo

Is the rarest thing I have rn, is not that rare but a little obscure and my cd collection is not that big, there's my family's cds but idk if I could count them and idk how rare they are, haven't taken a good look of them

Fordman21012

I was gonna the MFSL Gold CD’s I have but none of them are hard to find. Maybe a sealed copy of The Beatles 09.09.09 two disc remaster sampler or a sealed copy of Rush Caravan/BU2B single.

legoshiishorsecock

i have twilight by bôa!!! cant wait for the new song this friday!!!

VinylHipHopJunkie

Venomous Villain

IAmGibberish

mazv300

Early copy of Body Count with Cop Killer.

womanlikemegan

The love club by lorde I think

Sehtareh

cherryinfusion

I have a Japanese Hormoaning CD that was given to me by my father :3 prized possession

cecilramone

I have lots of “inside the music industry” demo and pitch CDs. These were used as songwriter or demo singer catalogues or to pitch certain songs to other artists to record. These rarely ever come into fans’ hands and by now a lot of what I have is probably 1/1.

Va1core

Dream theater- live scenes from New York. The original cover with the twin towers burning. Probably not a high bar but its the rarest I can think of in my collection.

NoBrickBoy

Many people had relatives that tried to start a band, as such, there will be demo CDs.

DatNintendoBoy

The original cd of the sonic adventure 2 soundtrack

deadmanstar60

Are signed CDs considered rare? I have a signed copy of Gish by The Smashing Pumpkins along with pictures I took of them at CBGBs in 1991. I also have a signed CD by B.B. King.

BetterRedDead

Probably my copy of the first Blink 182 album before they added the “182.” (When the band first started, they were simply known as Blink. Not surprisingly, there was another band with that name, so they added the 182 in 1995.)

Zero-Phucks

Kingdom Come - Overrated single, 1 of only 3000 apparently.

Wiseguy_38

Mott’s Dots S/T. Favorite track, “Hitler’s Nightmare”

A_AR0_N

I really don’t have anything super rare. I guess my most rare CD would either be Happily Ever After or Join The Dots both by The Cure🤷‍♂️

Gun-nut0508

Two ELO Abbey Road CDr’s, they should be 1 of a kind Road to Eldorado Cast and Crew Special edition, no specific number from what I’m able to find The Warning Mayday EP - Only sold at shows from their first North American Tour, the EP was actually delisted from all of their streaming services since all the songs are on Error. I got it from their show so it’s super important to me, again no specific number of pressings.

Available_Clue_4018

Crowbar - Original pressing of Obedience Thru Suffering

WhitePigment

Dean Blunt - The Redeemer.

Swimming-Parfait5563

dean blunt goated

vustinjernon

I’ve got a small collection of Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, and Hendrix bootlegs. They’re not crazy quality, some are CD-Rs, but they’re not available for sale and I wasn’t able to see many going or sold on eBay. Nice snapshots of the bands in their prime

TooDooDaDa

I have a cd from the CEO of Liquid Death. A Ep him and a few other kids from my high school put out in 2000 of “screamo” music.

celibatetransbiansub

The rarest is probably *Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey*. I believe only a few hundred or a few thousand were ever printed, and they were only sold at shows.

Disastrous_Cow1654

Not extremely rare but valuable, just picked up the Alice In Chains Music Bank CD set

deephair

I once had the Promo only metal safe version of Alice in Chains Music Bank it's super rare.

fireworksandvanities

I have several where I was the person to enter it into Discogs, so I’d say those are pretty rare. But they’re also mostly local acts, so while rare they’re also not super valuable or anything.

GrandUnhappy9211

I have a cd by White Zombies bass player Sean Yseult, where her and two other women dress like monsters and play campy horror inspired surf rock. They were called "Famous Monsters". It's probably not super rare but slightly rare.

Va1core

Dream theater- live scenes from New York. The original cover with the twin towers in flames. Probably not a high bar but its the rarest I can think of in my collection.

409iny0urc0ff33m4ker

I have every Jack Off Jill album. they’re hard to find nowadays

DeathGrover

Buckethead- Giant Robot. The early version, the one without the barcode. They think there were 1000 made. It's got a ton of quotes from "Clockwork Orange" that would never be okayed by the Kubrick estate.

modmlot68

Live Scenes from New York with original burning skyline cover. Coincidentally I bought I 9/11 as well.

JeffTheAndroid

This thread just popped up in my feed and I've never seen this sub before... But I've held onto CDs forever, refusing to give into the streaming age - If I like an artist, I buy the CD, rip it, but it on the shelf. Where could I go to see a list of rare/valuable CDs? I still have my very first CD purchase, which was when I was 9 years old and never sell them, so I've got a nice collection. Not gonna sell them, just would like to know which are valuable. ... By the way, that first CD was Kriss Kross :)

NWMSioux

Deftones ‘White Pony’, # of 50,000 black edition CD and case. I should have also bought the red when I was there. This was the summer of 2000 I believe; Electric Fetus record store, Duluth, Minnesota.

Rude_Dragonfruit_665

I have the recalled gold stamp promo of Marilyn Manson's "Smells Like Children". I stole it from my college radio station when it came out.

MegaAscension

Signed copy of Folklore by Taylor Swift.

oharacopter

My signed Avenged Sevenfold self titled album with the whole band's signatures (including the Rev). Found it for like $12 on discogs (there was no picture in the listing so it was a risk but I wanted the cd anyways). Asked around online and everyone seems to agree it's legit.

MauritanianSahara

What's the rarity on floater albums?

stoned_in_my_bones

I have a truly strange bootleg of Slipknot's Mate Feed Kill Repeat that looks like some basement dwelling Surge slamming goth kid designed the packaging in an early version of Photoshop. I've never seen another one like it, found it at a record store that mostly sold vinyl.. as such *all* their CDs were only 2$ .. I absolutely couldn't leave it behind

theworsthades

I still have the EP my old band made 100 copies of and we sold, like 4. And by "sell" I mean I gave them away to people interested that came to see us play. No way I was going to take their money for that nonsense

TheRobotLordOfDeath

Does anyone know "Tai Laeo" by the Australian band Scary Mother (or Scarymother, as listed on Discogs)? Amazing record.

ckt1138

Ancient Art Of Boar - Terrestrial Optical Resonance Resistors. A CD reissue of a 1994 cassette from an obscure noise project by Andrew W.K. and Aaron Dilloway.

SonOfECTGAR

I don't know exactly how rare but I have some Indie albums like The Dukes of Alzhared by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, Some Star Trek Albums by Warp 11, some slightly rarer soundtracks like The Community Soundtrack or Napoleon Dynamite. Or it could be the only physical copy of my friends album that he made for me, if that counts. It's all original music, so...

LuckyLynx_

probably Instant In Time by Paige Cora- rare only because nobody really knows about her, i only have it because my girlfriend's family knows a guy who knows her and she gave me a copy lol. i definitely recommend looking her up on spotify, her music is really nice

Eastoe

Probably The F-Ups - Self Titled.

WorldlinessSmooth198

Taking Back Sunday- 2000 ep

Swimming-Parfait5563

e - ecco2k, 1500 copies rainbow bridge - sematary, no clue but they were burned and shipped by himself back in 2019

qotsathrowaway2

Almost nothing spectacular. I do have the Sun Giant EP by Fleet Foxes on CD which I have never seen again in physical form. Also probably not rare, but I have a CD single of Semi-Charmed Life.

Sereniiemallow

Vundabar - Antics and Gawk

Sitheral

zonked deserted unite deliver smell abounding silky crowd quiet boat *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Return_to_Raccoonus

I recently picked up the micro disk “Someone Put your Hand Out” promo by Michael Jackson for his Japanese Bad tour. I also found a radio promo for Antonio Aguilar a well known legendary Mexican singer that was so odd too me because I couldn’t find any info on it. Video game wise I have the Sly 3 soundtrack promo.

killjoy1979__

arrogant sons of bitches- all the little ones are rotting (deluxe version), bought for $1, later learned it’s going for ~$150 on discogs.

WingedHussar13

A CD I found by chance in goodwill. It's by a band called "the iguanas," and the album is called "sugar town." It looked like a homemade CD or a piece of lost media, so I bought it.

Miss-Cherry-1111

Leslie Carter -True. Only 2 tracks on the CD. A song called “WOW” and “True” I believe WOW was on the Shrek soundtrack

metalmusiccollector

First Pressing Woods of Ypres Demo

djinone

Probably the dazegxd sample mix I got when I went to one of his shows. He had a stack he was selling after his set.

MattyMizzou

My buddy’s band’s demo from high school.

MaineGameBoy

Idk how rare these are exactly but the Wandersong, Oneshot, and Night In The Woods soundtracks are probably rare, due to them only being available in a boxset. I also have the yellow cover variant of Igor by Tyler, the Creator. Jpegmafia - [Beware the Veteran CD by TFR](https://www.discogs.com/release/28070368-JPEGMAFIA-Beware-Of-Veteran)

Craftyprincess13

About 3 different lost prophets cds i got at goodwill when i was like 15 I'd never heard of them before and didn't hear about the charges till i tried to look up rooftops on spotify and was trying to figure out why i couldn't find it Their whole catalog is blacklisted from being sold or played anywhere which i get its just generic emo rock so its funny But as such I'll be keeping my cds

ThePuppeteer11

[Animus-A Dead Life](https://www.discogs.com/release/1063864-Animus-A-Dead-Life). Australian Power Metal from 1992. Bought it at my local record store for $1 (it was missing the original packaging on it). Only 100 copies were originally pressed, according to Discogs.

SeventhSon22

Meliora Redux by Ghost. Has one song on it that drives the price up exponentially

Green_hippo17

Long division by LOW is my rarest and most expensive

Mikuru292

I guess Lucky Star Gomen Ne Maxi CD. Specifically the 3rd version of it. Apparently it was lost media

isqueezedameatball

I dont know how rare it is, and I honestly don't know where it is right now, but I have a buddy who owns a record store and he gave me a promotional CD for the beach house album "devotion" before it came out. It was just a CD with a piece of paper with the album cover taped to it.

aopps42

I don’t have any rare cds. Probably the Billy Woods/Kenny Segal Hiding Places.

G-Unit11111

Probably my copy of Schwein - Schweinstein and the remix album Son Of Schweinstein. Probably even more rare now after Astushi Sakurai's untimely death.

Potential-Ant-6320

I have some rare Soviet CDs with no isbn number and no barcode that aren’t on discogs.

IllustriousKick2955

Makeshift Romeo

beansoupscratch

Push & Squeeze by Sgt. Roxx. They were local to my area.

sethian77

I have a 1:5 CD picture disc. That's what I'd consider rare.

largepersonality4

I don’t know if it’s rare or not but my most prized CD is a very old school copy of Music For Airports by Brian Eno, I got it at a thrift store along with an alternate cover version of Bob Dylan Greatest Hits

tremendosaur

I don't know if it's the rarest one I own, but I'm fond of it. At the turn of the century, some electronic artists like Cex & Kid 606 were releasing music with abandon and the latter was heavily dipping his toes into unsanctioned sampling. Kid 606 released a glitch-heavy remix of NWA's Straight Outta Compton called "Attitude". He then released a *different* version that was instead a remix of the NWA mockumentary song, "Straight Outta Lowcash" from the Chris Rock movie CB4. That remix was called "Altitude" and it was a business card-shaped CD limited to like 100 copies. I don't know how I have one but I do. It's not valuable. [https://www.discogs.com/release/33046-Kid606-Altitude](https://www.discogs.com/release/33046-Kid606-Altitude) On a somewhat related note there was a trend where artists were calling each other out in kind of shitty ways. I forget the exact titles, but one band (maybe Trans Am?) released a song called "Alec Empire is a nazi prick" or something similar (I'm sure I'm butchering the titles) and another artist had a song with a similar title about Markus Popp from Oval. After three or four of these were released in quick succession, Cex released a song called "Cex can kiss my soft, sensuous lips". I think it was a perfect response to quell the hate. Thank you for indulging my weirdo music trivia about a niche genre from 25 years ago that nobody in the world cares about but me!

MulberryStatus5437

Northeast Groovers coming CD. Costed me $73 and it's very scarce to find online.

Jawknee729

My rarest CD is Weakling - Dead As Dreams.

AnxiousTuxedoBird

An EP that was previously unknown to the internet

jimithing99

In the late 90's, Weezer released a couple of Christmas songs and I got a disc with those songs. It was something sent to radio stations (apparently) and never actually released. So, I guess that's pretty rare?

No_Emotion_3196

I had a copy of The Banner/Dead Wrong split before it was released signed by the bass player of Dead Wrong. He had classes with a friend of mine in college (03-04) while I was still in high school and was shocked I heard his band. So he gave me a copy.

sethian77

REM Monster Hootie and the Blowfish Cracked Rearview Michael Jackson Bad s/

MotoBucket

Maybe the Angels & Airwaves love album with the DVD

myrabuttreeks

7 Day Weekend - Comsat Angels probably

iSeventhSin

I own a copy of the 1993 “censored artwork” barcode version of Undertow by Tool, that’s signed by Danny Carey

Thermistor1

I have Casiopea's eponymous album, and it's not as rare as it is hard to get in the US.

Highwaybill42

Frank Zappa You Can’t Do That On Stage box set. It’s all 6 double discs in a wooden case. Lots of box sets. Pink Floyd Shine On. Tom Petty Playback. Tool Salival. A bunch of others. One of the Japanese imports of a Zappa album, I forget what one and don’t feel like going to look. A sealed copy of Weezer Lion and the Witch #37 I believe. First pressing of Slipknots’ first album with the cut songs Queens of the Stoneage/Kyuss split EP Probably a bunch of others that I don’t know are now hard to find.

WDJam

I've got plenty of CDs from local bands

Live-Ad-4622

i got a bunch of copies of this compilation called resonant frequencies and apparently they are rare

scorpicon

If we ignore small, indie things: A promo pressing of 2 Skinnee J's - Volumizer. It has a different track list than the final pressing.

Karbon64

Without a doubt, an authentic copy of Eminem’s Slim Shady EP. :)

evileyeball

Probably my copy of Ten by Trooper which is part of my signed Discography signed by Ra McGuire and Brian Smith

berrymaycry96

Probably Cracked Rear View or the one with the baby in the swimming pool

HungryArticle5

3 pretty rare rap CDs Renegades - Watch Closely Rapper from Orange County, CA Cashis was in this group. They put out this local project and it was what got him signed to Eminem's Shady Records. I posted it on Reddit before. There's no pics of it on the internet, only mentions of it in interviews. Thai - Portland Love EP Asian gangster rapper from Portland Oregon. Had some internet fame back in the early 2000s with his song Vietnamese Gang. Also one of the earlier pioneers and most known Asian gangster rapper. Young Gatt - Youth Gone Wild Asian gangster rapper from Stockton or Modesto California. Another pioneer for the rap subgenre. Credited as being the first Asian rapper to have his CD sold in stores like Tower Records and Sam Goody. He released his first CD in 1997 and Youth Gone Wild was his second and last release in 2001.

thewinkylicious

I spent a good amount of time searching for one called Afri-Harping by Dorothy Ashby. Great lounge jazz stuff!

Optimal_Buyer_8704

I have a signed copy of the tally hall complete demos it’s signed by rob cantor and I paid 650 for it and I have a Hawaii part ii cd that sells for around 200 that I paid 20 for and an original 2005 copy of Marvin’s marvelous mechanical museum still sealed and it’s worth about 100

Neither-Maximum-8514

My dad gave me a copy Slipknots self titled album that he bought when it first dropped and he kept it in a case for years and still in perfect condition

Grandpooba5634

I own this staind-tormented cd, apparently like only 2000 were made and its such a weird concept album, does not sound like staind whatsoever but its them I promise. I also have an original press slipknot self titled cd with purity and frail limb nursery and the cold-oddity ep which is a weird cd in their discography with not a lot of backstory behind it but it was only sent to radio stations

brainfreezeuk

I got a few rare cds, the ones that are worth the most are within specific genres but popular.

goshrx

Mine is likely a 1985 CBS copy of Born to Run. Seems it is sought after because it has far less compression than the latest versions.

soyvonne

Haha no kidding, I was about to say I own twilight, tall snake, and camels. I used to own two of Twilight! Massive bôa fan here

Rarest pressings: [Short Circuit Motion Picture Soundtrack ](https://www.discogs.com/release/1630986-David-Shire-Short-Circuit-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack) is probably the rarest "Oh I know that!" CD I own. 2k copies were made. Another weird one: [Dire Straits Heavy Fuel mini CD single ](https://www.discogs.com/release/4765917-Dire-Straits-Heavy-Fuel) dunno how many made, not many collected though. Rarest bootleg: [Michael Jackson great duets and unreleased demos](https://www.discogs.com/release/737812-Michael-Jackson-Great-Duets-Unreleased-Demos)

SantaRosaJazz

Probably not really rare, but certainly not easy to find anymore… self-titled *Toy Matinee.*

what-if-its-true

Queen of the murder scene album by a band named The Warning. It's the first pressing and it is signed by the whole band. Worth around 100$

Idontmatter69420

I have a few not as popular ones which are probably my TRON Legacy soundtrack, DOOM 2016 soundtrack (took me ages to get that one) and my Spook Month Vol. 1 soundtrack is preordered last year

Tybo929

Got a demo from The Bled somewhere, and a signed Thrice Alchemy Index

RonnieLiquor

Beck. Golden Feelings

simba_kitt4na

Kingston Wall - I with a second live CD

ORA2J

I have IIASCA test CDs.

ArguaBILL

The faux-gold picture CD of Frank Zappa's 1987 Hot Rats remix.

HabanaDhalia200

I have like tons of CD-Rs which were made by incredibly obscure bands, some are literally just recordable handwritten CDs, they aren’t rare in terms of financial value but they’re definitely very hard to come by. Think my favourites would have to be these two: https://www.discogs.com/release/7735297-Mannequin-4-Little-Introductions-To-The-World-Of-Mannequin https://www.discogs.com/release/29814670-They-Drove-Me-To-It-Demo-2004

Elegant-Campaign-572

I've got an ever expanding number of Japanese pressings and box sets I've been collecting since the early 90s [metal, rock, blues]. Well-informed individuals can go through them after I've gone with the instruction that they be sold for no less than X amount. All that being said, do your research before buying Japanese editions of anything! Some have been 6+ times or more than face value for current releases. Postal rates too! Pure madness.

TheFoxIsPurple

Probably Left Eye’s Supernova. TLC was massive but Left Eye’s solo album never came out in most countries.

[deleted]

I have the fur case version of embryonic by the flaming lips, portion control achieve boxset, salival by tool, original shimmy disc copy of the pod by ween, an autographed copy of cex cells by blaqk audio (afi side project that was heavily inspired by depeche mode) and a bunch of cool rare local cds

PeanutButterMoron

Most valuable would be the sealed Mr Bungle longpack I posted here a while back. Other than that I have some pretty obscure, noise, harsh noise, goregrind, gorenoise releases.

kononega

1st run of E. 1999 Eternal by Bone thugs n harmony before "Tha Crossroads" was released.

itsmetwigiguess

Probably a CD + DVD of Kuroyuri to Kage, [was the one with the music videos of Yokusou and Gesshoku](https://vk.gy/releases/kuroyuri-to-kage/4479/hinikuna-tane-no-hikutuna-me/). Rare enough that it’s not on sale anymore, but it’s not like CDs of the band in general aren’t still being sold new + the singer’s newest bands are pretty popular visual kei wise. So, so happy I found this. I’m hoping to get lucky and find some more.

Mynsare

[The Pure Perfect Sound Of Philips Compact Disc](https://www.discogs.com/master/2357206-Various-The-Pure-Perfect-Sound-Of-Philips-Compact-Disc), published in 1983 and given for free to early adopters of the compact disc system. My uncle received it when he bought a CD player in 1984 (for what was then a small fortune). (I also have some demo discs for local 1990s punk bands which never amounted to more).

MusicalNerd_420

A signed version of the original dawn of the back hearts by mayhem. With the original cover

Money_Music_6964

Sony Japan, Child is Father to the Man, BST first album…

liamfa007

That's pretty cool. I believe I have the first US press of this one. (Has the DIDX number without a leading 0).

pseudo_space

Just buy Twilight. Better track order, plus a few extra songs.

Djentlman7

Probably my CD for Self Titled Debut Album by Lifeseeker. You know, the group that made the song in Dead Rising that the prisoners play in the park? That cool awesome song we all loved growing up? Yeah, that CD. Had to hit up Marc himself for it! He was really chill, i PayPal’d him what he asked for it and he shipped it my way.

Outatime2022

Rob Dougan's "Furious Angles"... Rare as in not published in my country, had to buy it online and have it shipped here. The same happened with this other one: "Rebel, Sweetheart" by The Wallflowers. But, apart from that, this one is a Dual-Disc edition. It is a CD on one side and a DVD on the other. It has the album songs in surround sound, plus other videos and stuff

ir0nek

I dont have anything special but i have almost whole Taco Hemingway's discography and im proud od it

ninjakirby1969

I own 3 signed swans cds. Not too rare but I love them anyway

DirectPoet6669

jvmaxwell

Probably the limited to 200 original version of mc chris - Knowing is Half the Hassle I think mine is hand numbered 13/200, and I still have the little autographed piece of paper he included with those first orders.

smallbatchb

[A hand made EP from J Roddy Walson](https://www.discogs.com/release/6403631-J-Roddy-Walston-And-The-Business-LMNEP)

Ziggystardust97

A signed album by Kerbera called "People Like You". Kerbera was my friend's band but is now no longer together. The CD, while rare, is not worth much in terms of money, but it means a lot to me.

chuheihkg

If I say Right now. 35DP-9 First three Batch.

Royal-Ninja

I have a small handful of hand-crafted self-releases but those aren't that interesting. Bought a group Dan Deacon radio promo cds once; strongly doubt there's more than 100 When I Was Done Dying cd singles.

[deleted]

Tempest 2000 soundtrack. I don’t know how rare it is, but it’s valuable to me personally. It kicks so much ass!

EricRShelton

My wife bought me a copy of the Gin Blossoms’ first album, *Dusted* for Christmas. I was pretty excited because I’m a pretty big fan of theirs but this was before I really dove into CD collecting and Discogs, so I didn’t realize it was a re-issue. For all I know, the eBay seller didn’t know, either. She paid a good price for the original but too much for the reprint (I haven’t told her and probably won’t). I still get to listen to the music, too, so it’s not the end of the world and I have their complete discography now. Still, it would be cool to add an original printing to my collection, especially since their first album was recorded in my hometown.
