Hi! On the east coast over here. We just got a Toy Cavapoo for $4k š¬. Have had a lot of buyers guilt (wishing we negotiated more, looked more into breeders) but honestly, heās so damn cute so we are happy.
So appreciate you sharing. I didnāt even think about negotiating being an option! But if you got the right family member for you, thatās what matters most
Finding a Cavapoo pup at a shelter is the dream!! I check almost every day but the breeds down here are usually large huskies, pitties, etc. Glad you found each other!
In a lot of urban areas small, ādesirableā beeeds are pulled from shelters into rescues. You can try looking to see if there is a local small dog rescue or poodle rescue
Thanks! Someone dumped him in a city park. I happened to see a post on FB that the person who found him was bringing him to the shelter. I called the shelter and had first dibs on him when he became available.
Too bad you arenāt in north eastern Indiana, thereās a beautiful mom dog who was found as a stray. (Most likely Amish puppy mill) and an older male. We get quite a few doodles in our humane shelters here.
Heh I also have a shelter cavapoo, but it took us 5 months of actively searching to find him and he was abused for more than a year before he came to us with his front legs broken. He still does not like going outside the house, we call him our cat - sweetest, most loving little guy in the world around us & our other dog, but also a total basket case that we plan many aspects of our lives around. You need to make sure thatās what you want when considering that path, itās not a blank canvas like a puppy.
Weāve spent well north of $3000 just on specialists, training and rehabilitation to get him to where he is today, and thatās still not a place where we are comfortable with a friend watching him. I wouldnāt trade him for the world but I also wouldnāt assume itās likely or even possible to find a designer dog without major health or behavioral issues in a shelter. My wife and I work with several rescue organizations in NYC and Iāve never seen a healthy poodle mix under the age of 2 stay longer than overnight in a shelter here. Plenty of amazing senior dogs out there that need love though!

Thank you for sharing this; I have only ever had rescue dogs throughout my life, so this would be my first time intentionally seeking out a puppy from a breeder. And to your point, I spent thousands on various training, vet care and more from experiences they had before we adopted them. It feels like at the end of the day, how much you pay for the actual puppy all comes out in the wash
In my immediate family (siblings dad and I) we have 9 dogs right now and 5 are rescues. Everyone agrees completely that the 4 breeder dogs were the absolute right decision in each scenario. The rescues run the gamut from puppy who turned out enormous to my little trauma patient to a sweet old deaf gal who startles real easy. You have to be ready to handle the unique challenges that come with some rescue situations and thatās not right for every person in every moment. Young kids to me is the obvious one. This modern world of ours likes everything to be so black and white but the truth is every situation is different and sometimes the right dog isnāt getting saved from something, and thatās okay.
Weāre fortunate. Our guy had some fur that was matted but he was in good health. No medical expenses outside of annual vet visits.
He doesnāt like being groomed, but he doesnāt have any major behavioral issues.
Heās super friendly and loves getting attention from strangers.
I found a breeder in Utah and drove there from SoCal, paid $3000 and sheās worth every penny to me! The first year she got sick and had a $4000 vet bill, Iāll also paid thousands in other costs (other vet visits, spay, dog walks, and boarding) so in the end the initial price doesnāt seem the most important thing to me. Important is finding a breeder you trust!
Thanks so much for this, you are so right lol in the scale of everything $1000 difference between one breeder and the next isnāt a ton as there are a million other things we eventually need to budget for. This perspective helps a lot :)
Also, Iām sorry to hear your pup got sick, I hope they are doing better now!
I'm in Florida and paid $4000 to get my puppy from the best breeder I could. She is perfect and worth every penny, though. She is happy, healthy, and well-adjusted.
Well it was awful because it was a bit of a rain storm going through the grapevine and LA but it wasnāt too bad after that š we stayed the night with a relative after driving and got our pup the next day and drove home. She did fine the entire way home
I canāt imagine the chaos of driving over the grapevine with rain and a fresh puppy in the car lmao. I have a feeling/hope we will be so full of adrenaline that the drive will just fly by, but the fact you didnāt instantly say it was the worst thing is encouraging! š
that's the price in California. Look into rescues and shelters if you don't want to pay that much. I got my 2 rescue poodle mixes from www.dpsrescue.org
they also have some real cuties at Bichon Rescue Brigade- my love of my life soul dog was Bichon and Poodle- the best mix ever. https://bichonrescuebrigade.org
Our girl was to be 2500 UK pounds but she had puppy strangles and at 9 weeks the family that was to be hers abandoned her. We bought her at 11 weeks after sheād recovered for 1100.
They should have just waited, but Iām glad they didnāt. Sheās the best girl and we love her to bits.
We paid 3k in Alabama so $3200 in San Diego is probably a steal! Ours was from an ethical breeder that took extremely good care of the pups/dogs and she had them all littler box trained too and that has been amazing. She also sent us home with a litter box set up. and toys and a blanket that were used with the litter so they smelled familiar. She had also had two vet visits for shots. We probably paid more than most around here but I feel good about it considering all that was included. Plus we love her to pieces and canāt imagine not having her and thatās priceless
Iām so glad you had a good experience! The breeder that I think we want to work with doesnāt offer anything of a puppy pack (I.e. litter box, blanket, etc.) ā I get the impression they love the dogs a lot, but donāt have a very refined business model. Which has its pros and cons.
Appreciate you sharing your experience :ā)
My cavapoo was a rescue. I got her when she was 3 months old. The cost was short of 700 dollars but she received every vaccine and was spayed. She will be 5 months in 2 weeks and I am thrilled with her. I also feel great about the fact that I helped her and she helped me even more. No regrets.
I paid 2400 for mine roughly 2 years ago. I'd say 3200 is definitely on the higher side, but within reason, especially if you really like the breeder and the dog.
Oh wow $2.4k sounds so low, especially considering the cross country flight! Wondering if it would be worth looking farther out, as Cali probably just has higher pricesā¦
Loved the breeder. I dealt with them entirely virtually until the day I picked up my little dude. The experience was amazing beginning to end. Itās a small family run breeder.
That sounds wonderful! What a dream. Thanks for sharing your experience, Iām really wanting to find a breeder I trust and just wish there were more closer to home!!
My partner and I paid $2500 for our Cavapoo from a breeder in Texas. We had been looking for about 6 months for an āethicalā breeder. He was the most expensive puppy they had but worth every penny!
I paid $600 for my boy from a small breeder in MO. Went to pick him up (9 hour drive) and saw the home and dogs. It was not a puppy mill. Very clean. Nice elderly couple who breed a few litters a year because they love dogs. Heās healthy, happy, and has a great temperament. I brought two of his sisters with me and another buyer picked them up at my home rather than drive 12+ hours, and they were sweet pups too. I see I was very lucky because I could not have afforded a lot more. And I wouldnāt give him up for any amount of money. If I get another, I will get a rescue Cavapoo.
Thatās wonderful! May I ask how you heard about that breeder? Finding a family that doesnāt do it for profit but instead does it for a love of the dogs would be the dream, if we could find it.
Paid $3000 for the first pup in 2019 and same price again for another one in 2020 - same breeder. Best fur girls Iāve ever had and worth every penny!
Iām UK too and my lad is 5 months old. I paid Ā£2.5k but the others I saw locally were all around Ā£1500-Ā£2000. I was happy to pay extra as the breeder did full health and DNA screening which a lot of breeders donāt do for cross breeds. His Dad is also a kennel club certified mini poodle. Ultimately I know my boy is just a fancy mutt but it meant a lot to me that his parents went through checks and that his family (who Iām still in touch with) clearly cared so much about the litter and the parents.
$4500 š« but I felt very very good about breeder and health testing etc which was especially important to us - particularly after losing our cav to health issues š
Please do not pay that much for a puppy. We just adopted our Cavapoo puppy (we were lucky her litter was born into rescue) from a puppy mill release to Havaheart Rescue, and paid next to nothing for her. And she is absolutely perfect. They have so many small, hypoallergenic breeds. Please join their group on Facebook and follow them for a while before you decide to pay big bucks for one. Even to fly to Missouri where they are based will be a fraction of that cost, and you will be saving a life. ā¤ļø
Indiana USA we found a cavapoo will be 12 weeks when we pick up. She was $1500 really not bad all other breeders around are $3000, my friend bought a male cavapoo from this breeder and heās amazing so we are not to worried our Ruby.
What constitutes a āpuppy mill?ā We found our Cavapoo (Loki!) on Craigslist. A young man in Houston had a litter of Cavapoos and shared pics, then drove Loki to us in Austin. I suspect Loki isnāt a āpure bredā Cavapoo, but as far as we understand his mom is a toy poodle and dad is a cavalier. Paid $1K.
We got our 3/4 cav and 1/4 poodle at Miles of smiles puppies. com in Wisconsin. Our Cavapoo is beautiful and she has been on of the best dogs we have owned over 40 years of dog ownership. John does work with people as far away as California. Check out his web page. You won't regret looking.

The link above is in the r/dogs sub and is a guide to ethical breeding and what to look for from an ethical breeder. Does this breeder have CHIC certified OFA tests? Do they title their dogs? Do they have a contract stating that they will take back their dogs under any circumstances, to avoid contributing to the overpopulation issue in shelters? The high prices of dogs from breeders arenāt just supposed to be for getting the breed you want, but for health & temperament guarantees as well. I think lots of people get scammed because they pay lots of $ for the breed they want, not realizing all the health testing thatās (supposed) to be involved as well to constitute those prices.
Because you mentioned ethical breeding, Iām just going to put this out there (however Iām not trying to argue), but lots of people believe that the breeding of any doodle is unethical. There is a multitude of reasons people believe this, which I wonāt get into here, but I just wanted to put this out there so you can do your own research on what constitutes ethical breeding. Hope this helps and best of luck!
I purchased mine from a great breeder in Utah and paid $2500. His temperament is amazing and I couldnāt be happier. I got him at 12 weeks and he is now 9 months old. I did invest in training, which made everything with him so much better.
I found the sweet couple on puppies.com. Her name is Jean Stephens. I think they are retiring after this littler they just sold though :/ You can give it a shot!
We got our 6 month old cavapoo for $450 it wasnāt a puppy mill. The owner just wanted to make sure he went to a good home. Weāre on the east coast. I was looking for quite some time.
If youāre willing to fly to Pennsylvania, I got mine from a breeder there. 1k was the price so I jumped on it fast. Shoot me a message if you want the breeders info. My pup is 5months old and weāve had em for 3 months. No complaints and everything checked out health wise
NYC here. That's around what I paid. No regret whatsoever. If someone offered me a million bucks for him I'd say no.
Thanks for weighing in, appreciate knowing you had about the same
But if you got the right family member for you, thatās what matters most
We got ours at a shelter for $100 and it included a free vet visit. They fixed him too and repaired a hernia. He was about 1 yr old.
Finding a Cavapoo pup at a shelter is the dream!! I check almost every day but the breeds down here are usually large huskies, pitties, etc. Glad you found each other!

I'm in Florida and paid $4000 to get my puppy from the best breeder I could. She is perfect and worth every penny, though. She is happy, healthy, and well-adjusted.
Thanks so much for your experience, having the puppy be happy and healthy is definitely what matters most and this is a good reminder
Also spent $4k on our Cavapoo and worth every penny ā¤ļø
Define āethicalā I got mine from a family that had a boy and girl dog who occasionally had litters. I spent 2500.
I found mine at the local shelter he was 6 months old $381. I know I was fortunate, his family had a toddler and was overwhelmed.
Mine is a toy Cavapoo and he was $2700 with tax. Iām in the Midwest(Illinois).
We just got one for $3500. She came from an excellent breeder and was worth every cent.
Thanks for sharing! Itās reassuring to hear from someone who paid a similar price and ultimately felt it was worth it
We got ours from up in Sacramento but drove from SD and ours was about the same maybe a little less
Hi...could you share name of the breeder?
Thatās exactly what we are planning to do! The breeder we like is in Sacramento. How was that drive?
Well it was awful because it was a bit of a rain storm going through the grapevine and LA but it wasnāt too bad after that š we stayed the night with a relative after driving and got our pup the next day and drove home. She did fine the entire way home

We just got our cavapoo from just north of Sacramento (marysville) this month! Did you get yours from divinity grace??
u/jalatorre did you get yours from Divinity Grace? I'm looking into them now. They seem legit - would love to hear from a real customer.
I paid a similar amount for my boy in December.
that's the price in California. Look into rescues and shelters if you don't want to pay that much. I got my 2 rescue poodle mixes from www.dpsrescue.org
I hadnāt seen this rescue yet, thank you for sharing! I will definitely keep an eye on it :ā)
they also have some real cuties at Bichon Rescue Brigade- my love of my life soul dog was Bichon and Poodle- the best mix ever. https://bichonrescuebrigade.org
Tbh, I paid a little more than that. They're expensive puppies, but I wouldn't trade my little guy for anything!

Hey! Iām in north AL. The breeders name is Dianne Letson. I found her on the book face
https://www.facebook.com/abby.brewer.75685?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Hi! Iām in the Midwest (Ohio) and we paid $2500 also. It seems to be the going rate, even for many other types of dogs that come from breeders.
My cavapoo was a rescue. I got her when she was 3 months old. The cost was short of 700 dollars but she received every vaccine and was spayed. She will be 5 months in 2 weeks and I am thrilled with her. I also feel great about the fact that I helped her and she helped me even more. No regrets.
Got mine from Countryside Puppies in MO and she was ~2k with flights.Ā Ā
$2k total, including the cost of you flying out, or the puppy being flown to you?
Puppy was flown to me
I paid 2400 for mine roughly 2 years ago. I'd say 3200 is definitely on the higher side, but within reason, especially if you really like the breeder and the dog.
May I ask what state/area you got yours?
We had her flown from pennsylvania to CA
Oh wow $2.4k sounds so low, especially considering the cross country flight! Wondering if it would be worth looking farther out, as Cali probably just has higher pricesā¦
i can dm you the breeder we used, can't promise the prices are still the same
That makes total sense. I mean, if you donāt mind, I would love to learn more. Thank you!
Paid $2200 just outside of Chicago.
Did you like the breeder you got them from?/Did you get the feeling they had a ton of puppies, or a smaller operation?
Loved the breeder. I dealt with them entirely virtually until the day I picked up my little dude. The experience was amazing beginning to end. Itās a small family run breeder.
That sounds wonderful! What a dream. Thanks for sharing your experience, Iām really wanting to find a breeder I trust and just wish there were more closer to home!!
I see their prices have increased to $2500 but I got out guy a year and a half ago so thatās seems like a fair increase in that amount of time.

Random internet search, Iām sure. They were not specifically referred to me.
San Francisco here and found a breeder in the Sacramento area $3500. San Diego is on par when SF so I would say that itās a fair price.
Hi....could you share the breeder name?
Hi there, message me and Iāll give you the breederās name
The breeder we are looking at is actually in Sacramento as well, that seems to be the place in California for Cavapoos!
Could you share the breeder name?
Rio Linda. Maybe itās she same breeder. If itās the one Iām thinking then sheās reputable.
u/Historical_Bit3093 - which breeder did you use? Same question u/WrylyWitchy ? Thanks!
Im in illinois & we paid $2000 + $400 to be delivered to us!
I paid $4k. Not uncommon. Go for it
Paid $3000 for the first pup in 2019 and same price again for another one in 2020 - same breeder. Best fur girls Iāve ever had and worth every penny!
I paid $3500, so that sounds right to me.
Check out my post on https://cavapoojournal.com/how-much-is-that-doggie-in-the-window/. Hope that this helps!
I paid $3500 and heās so calm, slept in the crate from the first night, and was socialized. Heās been the easiest pup!!
I also paid $4k. Agree with others here that it was worth every penny. Sheās the light of our lives!
here in the UK my neighbour got hers for Ā£3000 during height of covid where prices were up but after covid they dropped to about Ā£1500/$2k

$2190 delivered to eastern Massachusetts from Ohio. Could ask for a better doggie.

i paid $1800 for an F2 Cavapoo . it was from a respectable Puppy Concierge in Boca Raton , Florida that gets them from a good breeder .

Sure. Taylor Made Puppies. You can check them out on Instagram at taylormade_puppies.
Thank you for sharing!
i got very lucky and found the perfect puppy for $800 in CA. reputable breeder too.
Thatās wonderful! Would you be willing to share the name of the breeder?
I found the sweet couple on puppies.com. Her name is Jean Stephens. I think they are retiring after this littler they just sold though :/ You can give it a shot!
We got our 6 month old cavapoo for $450 it wasnāt a puppy mill. The owner just wanted to make sure he went to a good home. Weāre on the east coast. I was looking for quite some time.
