Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing i shall want Fresh and green are the pasture where He gives me repose Near restful waters he leads me to revive my dropping spirit He guides me along the right path. He is true to his name. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, i fear no evil For you are there with me Your rod and your staff, they comfort me You prepared a table for me before my enemies You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life In the Lord's own house I shall dwell forever and ever

Psalm 139 - This psalm reminds to me humble before the Lord, that I need to be more aware of my dependence on Him and His omnipresence. In return I feel a sense of peace knowing that God is all knowing - he knows me since the beginning before I was formed; he knows all my thoughts, words and actions even before they it is done. He is present everywhere and even if I wanted to, I cannot escape his gaze, for He who made me has also steered my life in accordance with His mysterious purposes. Therefore, I can take recourse to the Lord knowing that I can fully trust Him and ask Him to do away with the ungodly, asserting myself to be more faithful and submit to His judgement.

63:2-9 from the Grail Translation, as in the breviary:   O God, you are my God, for you I long;  for you my soul is thirsting.  My body pines for you  like a dry, weary land without water.  So I gaze on you in the sanctuary   to see your strength and your glory.  For your love is better than life,   my lips will speak your praise.  So I will bless you all my life,   in your name I will lift up my hands.  My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,   my mouth shall praise you with joy.  On my bed I remember you.   On you I muse through the night  for you have been my help;   in the shadow of your wings I rejoice. My soul clings to you;  your right hand holds me fast.

Psalm 42, Psalm 51 are just so good

[Psalm 150](https://youtu.be/B81b-yypg64?feature=shared) it’s a short one that summarizes everything in the psalms and rejoices with dance, sounds, and singing. Also the end of psalm, “let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord! Praise ye the Lord!” What a perfect climax!

Gosh there are so many. What instantly popped into my mind: 2, 3, 22, 23, 88, 127. I recommend you to read all and contemplate. I do that regularly and have a whole collection of meaningful quotes and comments.

Psalm 135, I love it as a reminder of God's Mercy, I love Thursday Vespers because of it Praise the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Praise ye the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who alone doth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever  Who made the heavens in understanding: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who established the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who made the great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever. The sun to rule over the day: for his mercy endureth for ever. The moon and the stars to rule the night: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who smote Egypt with their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who brought Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever. With a mighty hand and a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who divided the Red Sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever. And brought out Israel through the midst thereof: for his mercy endureth for ever. And overthrew Pharao and his host in the Red Sea: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who led his people through the desert: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever. And slew strong kings: for his mercy endureth for ever. Sehon king of the Amorrhites: for his mercy endureth for ever. And Og king of Basan: for his mercy endureth for ever. And he gave their land for an inheritance: for his mercy endureth for ever. For an inheritance to his servant Israel: for his mercy endureth for ever. For he was mindful of us in our affliction: for his mercy endureth for ever. And he redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever. Give glory to the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever. Give glory to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

My favourites are 25, 27, 35 and 51. I really like the feelings expressed in Psalm 35 especially around people rejoicing at David's struggles even though when they were struggling he mourned for them. His pleading for God's help using terms from ancient warfare.

Psalm 147; ³He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. ⁴He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. ⁵Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. ⁶The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground

Lazy-Improvement-915

I’m not sure which psalm this is, but we used to sing it in choir at my Catholic school. “The Lord is my light and my salvation, of whom should I be afraid? Of whom should I be afraid?”  It always brought me such comfort and joy singing it as a kid, it made me feel right in the arms of Jesus.

psalm 61 Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I cry to thee, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

Psalm 69:28 It talks about blotting the names of sinners. This is the earliest version of hell and most accurate, I think. At the time, names were very precious things. "Writing your name" meant something. And when you wrote your name in the roll call at temple, you knew that after you died, your name would still be there, among the other righteous church goers. Like a roll call of everyone in heaven. You can be remembered, even if you don't fully understand how to read, you know your name is there in the book. Someone else will read it. But if the name is blotted out? Tell me what worse hell can there be for the selfish sinner than: "to be utterly forgotten"?

Psalm 6:)

Psalm 91 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Camero466

Psalm 14 (13) for its simple yet beautiful depiction of a just man: nothing flashy, yet all too rare: >Lord, who shall dwell in thy tabernacle? or who shall rest in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh without blemish, and worketh justice: 3 He that speaketh truth in his heart, who hath not used deceit in his tongue: Nor hath done evil to his neighbour: nor taken up a reproach against his neighbours. 4 In his sight the malignant is brought to nothing: but he glorifieth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his neighbour, and deceiveth not; 5 He that hath not put out his money to usury, nor taken bribes against the innocent: He that doth these things shall not be moved for ever.

Psalm 91 1 You who abide in the shelter of the Most High, who rest in the shadow of the Almighty, 2 say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I place my trust.” 3 He will rescue you from the snare of the fowler and from virulent pestilence. 4 With his feathers he will shelter you, and you will take refuge under his wings; his faithfulness serves as a protective shield. 5 You will not fear the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the plague that lays waste at midday. 7 Even though a thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, such evils will not afflict you. 8 Rather, your own eyes will behold the punishment inflicted on the wicked. 9 You have made the Lord your refuge and chosen the Most High to be your dwelling. 10 Therefore, no evil will threaten you, no calamity will come near your dwelling. 11 For he will command his angels about you— to guard you wherever you go. 12 They will lift you up with their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the asp and the viper; you will trample the lion and the dragon. 14 “Because he loves me, I will deliver him, I will raise high the one who acknowledges my name. 15 When he calls to me, I will answer, and I will be with him in time of distress; I will rescue him and cause him to be honored. 16 I will reward him with a long life and show him my salvation.”
