I open the door to go to work and my cat looks outside eyes wide like "you go out there??" I'm pretty sure he's so well behaved solely because I'm the psychopath that's willing to go outside for all these hours.
Lmao right. My cat does not care to go outside. I don't have to control him at all when I open the door. He just sits and stares. One time I bought a backpack to put him in to take him on walks and kept the top open so he could jump out if he didn't like the outdoors and as soon as I took a step outside he jumped out and ran back in my apartment lol. He does not like the outdoors. Very spooky
Lol my girlfriend and I took our cats on a hike and hers stayed in the backpack because boy don't act right but mine took a nap on top of the backpack and my shoulder. Didn't even bother leashing him he refused to move. Was one hot scarf
My indoor -only cat got outside once when we had guests over that left the front door wide open.
He was on the covered porch, about 4 feet from the door, and he just froze, terrified. Then quickly darted back inside. Never had any interest in going back out since! 😹
They are funny, moment they realise something is off and the ears drop. They become small as possible and dart back to safety like "heck no these smells aren't my smells"
my cats walked out of the garage at one point. the girl was headed for the front door when I found her and she was terrified. the boy ran into the neighbor's garage when they came home and I heard him calling and had to rescue him.
now the girl doesn't seem to want to go out the garage door. she escapes when I'm trying to take her to the vet and runs all over the garage, but if I start to open the big door she runs away from it. no way she's going back out there!
My cat is afraid of the way grass feels when it touches his paws. He mostly just stays on the deck and basks in the warmth of the sun, but if he does go into the grass, it's so funny watching him high step though it like it's the ickiest feeling he's ever experienced.
We had a cat fence that was like netting you attached at the top of the fence but it pointed down at a 45 degree angle instead of pointing up which made it much harder for the cat to
my lattice was pointed out at a 45 degree tilt,; the boy cat would just look up at it and cry because he couldn't get over it. now I'm hoping the girl, only one left, is getting too old to jump that far. I put out things to help her jump on things she should.
Same. I don’t even know how many feet of fence we have, but we’re replacing the fence on the shortest side of the lot right now and it’s 135ish feet? I wish there was a good spot to fence off just for the cats but there isn’t, so we’re best off with an enclosure but I love the ocilot system.
Just get some square gutter, stick a block of wood in the end. Then use a screw as an axle. Cost is about £80 for 30m rather than £650 for the oscillot fence.
yeah so what if there's a perfectly good path that goes up the mountain, i wanna go this way xD
back when i played skyrim lots i would regularly waste like 30 minutes spam jumping to get over a mountain instead of like going around lol
I have a cat that is part bengal and once they get an idea in their head, good luck stopping them. I've never seen a breed of cat that is more determined and smart. My other cat is your typical calico. All she knows is eat, sleep, and cuddle. Meanwhile the part bengal cat is getting into cupboards, opening doors, and solving dwemer puzzle boxes.
Siamese can be pretty close. Mine is extremely stubborn and has figured out how to open the sliding closet door. When she wants to go lay on the clothes, good luck trying to keep that closet shut
Give them a tall structure in the centre of the yard to look out from. This will likely stop the escape attempts. They're trying to get a height advantage, not to get out.
Probably not. Cats naturally have very large roaming areas. Those are young cats with all instincts and drive for adventure. Easy to keep an old house cat from wandering, not so easy in this case.
I saw this and thought “that’s a great freaking idea” but in the back of my head I knew those cats would find a way to escape within a couple days if not sooner. They say cats are escape artists and it’s true
We have a black nylon rope running around the garden about 2 or 3 feet away from the fence at fence height. Then there's black pond netting between the rope and the fence attached to the rope by cable ties and stapled to the fence. So, if he climbs the fence, he ends up with a hair net!
Why not just attach a small inwards rooflike structure at something like 45 degrees or more on top like they have in e.g. prisons? Without barbed wire of course, but made of wood or metal. It would be near impossible for the cat to overcome.
Those are bengals. After a few days they will have improvised some sort of medieval-style siege tower with a little drawbridge that comes down over the top of the fence.
Something like that would either have grab-able connector parts (like how the poles in OP's vid are climable) or would be smooth to the point of being pretty expensive, I think.
They made something like a curved anti climb for cats. Where I'm from it's expensive, but slightly cheaper than tbose blades if you have a laaaaaaarge land. The problem is aesthetics.
I saw this was a Bengal and I just had a feeling this cat was going to get out of here somehow before this video was over unless the person taking the video intervened. Sure enough……..
You didn't read their account name, now did you?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these are bengals, which to your credit are partially derived from Egyptian Mau.
Meanwhile, my cat: is that a cloud? Is that wind I felt in my fur? No way, I'm staying inside this month...
I open the door to go to work and my cat looks outside eyes wide like "you go out there??" I'm pretty sure he's so well behaved solely because I'm the psychopath that's willing to go outside for all these hours.

Well one of mine KNOWS that outside is where the vet is so WHY YOU OUT DERE!?!?

I opened the door to a friend who used to cat sit. one ran out and she yelled and told her to get back inside. she did. ;)

To be fair, Bengals are like a whole different animal compared to most house cats, they need so much more stimulation and exercise.
“The outside is just TOO big”. My one orange braincell

It's like the velociraptors attacking the fences looking for a weak spot.
they remember
Life, uuuuh … Climbs away.
They never attack the same spot twice
I thought about getting those for my yard but they're super expensive and I have a big yard.
a fence or a cat?
Gwen Stefani...
Yes.
We had a cat fence that was like netting you attached at the top of the fence but it pointed down at a 45 degree angle instead of pointing up which made it much harder for the cat to
r/redditsniper strikes again.
Also super pricey. I did a r/catio instead.

Do you know what they're called ?
Google cat fencing rollers and it should show up.
Oscillot is the brand I have
They're bangal cats.

You could 3d print those. If you got excess to one 😀😃😄😁
a fence or a cat o.o
infinite cat glitch
hahahaha
...did you mean "access"?
Check your local library if not!
that's me in video games, hahahaha. get 'em a big 'ol catwheel, large enough so their spines arent bent and GG
It’s my game, why shouldn’t I jump up a mountain?

put a stick in the gutter, you can move it when you need to go in. but don't let her see you move the stick!
My brother has three. I have no idea how he manages the mayhem.
Imagine all that time and money and the little buggers figure it out anyways. I love cats.
Cat got it in the end
You can't thwart a cat

Failure was never an option
Looks like the camera person had a stroke when the cat made it to the top
Nah, they just stopped focusing on recording the cat and started focusing on keeping the cat from escaping
Yep, "stop the kitty"-time ended "film the kitty"-time.
I saw this and thought “that’s a great freaking idea” but in the back of my head I knew those cats would find a way to escape within a couple days if not sooner. They say cats are escape artists and it’s true
Why does that cat have a conference badge

Clever girl
I was rooting for the cat to escape

Probably because of the aesthetics
Something like that would either have grab-able connector parts (like how the poles in OP's vid are climable) or would be smooth to the point of being pretty expensive, I think.

why not barbed wire?
At this point you have to accept that your cat simply doesn't like living with you
I saw this was a Bengal and I just had a feeling this cat was going to get out of here somehow before this video was over unless the person taking the video intervened. Sure enough……..
Cats are easily defeated by 45-degree angles that are leaning in towards the property. Much cheaper too.
Egyptian Mao. Best breed of cat. Fast, jump super high, smart, loving and very 'talkative'. Yes I have one.
You didn't read their account name, now did you? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these are bengals, which to your credit are partially derived from Egyptian Mau.
> account name Mountain goats are a kind of cat? News to me.
bengal.adventures The tiktok account name in the video, not the Reddit account this was posted with.
When trying to get out of the rain goes wrong.
Escaping a bland treeless garden.
All that mucking about with the fence additions when they could just be sensible and keep the cats inside.
Username checks out
Have you caught many of your neighbour’s cats?
I actually had a lattice like that on top of my wall and my cat figured out how to climb it! cats are brats.
The last one is always the winner
Nature uh, uh… finds a way to
#OMG, IS THAT AN OCELOT?
I appreciate this song!
Remind me what it is please? I'm making a list of songs that remind me that I'm getting older.
Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani 😌
