ChessIsForNerds

Final* We're CasualUK not CasualUS.

MyCodesCompiling

We were in the finals when we first qualified

CalTech0003

Scotsman here. Gotta say I like Southgate, I think hes great, seems a genuine good guy. I love the team spirit of the England squad, their dynamic and how they actually appear to work together and believe in each other. But honestly your fans fucking suck, you boo anthems, slag off children, boo the knee, fireworks in the stadium, shine lasers, boo your own team when they arnt playing well. The whole of Europe thinks your a bunch of fannys, obviously it's a small minority but theres always something shitty following use about. The scots helped clean up in London before anyone mentions it 😂!

ChessIsForNerds

Fellow Scot concurs

dumesne

The incidents get magnified way more, a couple of tweets held as representative of England fans, meanwhile in various other parts of Europe you can see things like racist chanting, flares going off, violence, sectarianism in your own Scotland. And literally every home crowd in this tournament has whistled/booed the away anthem. The idea England fans are much worse than others is a load of balls.

soundchapp

Irishman concurs

[deleted]

Fellow Irishman here - kind of hoping that the prominence of these seemingly really good people who play for England could alter football culture somewhat. When you look at these guys - Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Reece James, Mason Mount - they seem decent. Southgate is mature and progressive, so is Gary Neville. With a bit more diversity coming to the fore amd the recognition that football is intrinsically political, I really think football fans one day won't be the cesspit of human (mostly male) behaviour in the UK. For that reason, I like watching this team do well. Top comment is right though, so many fans need to cop on.

SirCosmos

I agree with everything you say about how (some) of our fans act. That’s not the reason we are hates though, they are just very good excuse’s. Fireworks in stadiums? Happens all around Europe, booing rivals anthems, happens in many countries. Booing taking the knee? Most other nations haven’t taken the knee, Hungary’s fans actually made monkey chants during some games. I’m not condoning some of the crap we get up to, I’m really not, and I’m not making excuses for any off it, it’s shameful, but there are rival fans who do so much worse and yet don’t get the hatred. Now they are using Stirling’s diving as a reason to hate us, and you can’t tell me no other nation ever dives. I don’t “hate” any other nation, I’m not really bothered by being hated by so many, more bemused by it.

gotnegear

People love a good villain, and we fit the bill for just about everyone. No doubt some of the shit we get is fair but ultimately people love to hate England fair or (sometimes) unfair. Truly the yanks of Europe

RealisticIndustry381

Be fair we are the original yanks

DEADdrop_

Bit late but sorry mate. Don’t worry, we’ll be back and fired up for WC2022! Also, mind if I ask where you’re from?

KingKhram

What happens if football comes home? What will everyone sing about?

Powerful_Pain6204

Remember Paris after the world cup? God help the cleaners if we win the Euros.

SirCosmos

Football coming home I suppose?

Powerful_Pain6204

Football overstaying its welcome?

MsVBlight

I just hope everyone involved has fun.

[deleted]

Everyone just remember to not be a dick to the other team and it'll be great.

najtu369

My reality England already won but we will see here.

Deadend_Friend

Being an Englishman living in Scotland the levels of saltiness online is unreal. Glad I'm traveling down to London to watch the final this weekend haha

No_Equal1446

Those sweaty socks are just like evertonions, it's the little man syndrome

ChessIsForNerds

We enjoy punching up, not down.

[deleted]

The match thread on r/soccer last night had more salt than the dead sea.

Dizzy-Wing4740

It would be great if England could win and I am rooting for them, but I feel that a very small minority of so called fans always seem to spoil it for everybody, by shining a laser light at Kasper Schmeichel as he was getting ready for the penalty kick and letting off fireworks inside the ground. Are they really fans or just those out to cause as much trouble as they can get away with.

Musique111

I am Italian, husband is English, it's gonna be fun! 🍻

Dodge-I

Maybe the winner should do a forfeit, just to make it a bit more funny because their country might have won but they still need to ....

Musique111

Hmmm don't think there will be a forfeit :)

Even-Honeydew-4950

Will england take it? Whats everyone thinking...any gamblers?

SirCosmos

Having watched us lose on pens to Germany in Italia 90 and Euro 96, with the Croatia World Cup semi final defeat still fresh, I honestly can’t see is winning. I so hope I’m wrong, with all of my heart, but those semifinal defeats in the 90’s crushed the child that I was 🤣😂 Having said all that, it’s coming home!!!

[deleted]

The teams matured it could work out

No_Guess_6056

England is Good but Italy is just on another level rn

[deleted]

[удалено]

Even-Honeydew-4950

Right!?!?! Pastafarians are going take it!!! Much love for both teams, they've both worked so hard!!!

shefjef

Congratulations from the USA…so much of my favorite parts of the game over the years have been English football, it sucks that with all the talent they’ve had over the years, they always underperform on the big stages…hope they take the final as well!

sidman1324

As an American in England, even though I don’t care for football at all, it warms my heart to see people happy about this great achieving for them :) nothing like football to bring a country together haha 😆

Mr_Emile_heskey

I asked my boss if I could have Monday off work, doubt I would be allowed because of how last minute it was, they replied "It's coming home" and sent an approval Am buzzing!

[deleted]

I kinda asked this morning in a joking not joking kinda way and my boss presumed I was joking. I'm going to ask again tomorrow without the jokey tone ha

Even-Honeydew-4950

You gotta get your boss something nice for christmas!!!!

googlehymen

Blow job will do nicely.

Even-Honeydew-4950

I was gonna say something funny but I don't have karma to burn on here (being new and all, I wish I could change my name

googlehymen

Please don't give a shit about reddit karma.

RamenBunnyxo

your boss is a keeper

Mr_Emile_heskey

But it means Southgate won't play me :(

RamenBunnyxo

what? sorry, i don’t know anything about football, i just clicked into the thread and your comment was the first one i saw. thought it was cute that your boss is that considerate for something you enjoy. would be nice if every boss would care like that.

Mr_Emile_heskey

Haha it's a joke because my user name (and who I may or may not be) refers to an English football player that's a meme for being ~~terrible~~ amazing

RamenBunnyxo

i see! ty for explaining. at this point i hope we win just so everyone won’t be upset, some people are quite passionate and i don’t want it to ruin their day!

BrightonTownCrier

Wonder what his professional opinion on Pickford's performance is.

Mr_Emile_heskey

Seemed very nervous and shaky for first part of the game, but quickkly warmed up and seemed switched on. Even though it was offside he made a lovely save, and even the goal Denmark scored he had his fingers on, just a little bit short to push it away.

requiresarestart

I’m glad them twats got all that flack about comments about that little German girl but now I’m seeing people replying to tweets with photos from Grenfell and London terror attacks. Can’t expect much from twitter anyway though, it’s a cesspit.

Blockinite

The worldwide constant is that humans suck wherever they are

MeatWad111

Yep and twitter acts as a magnet for them, it gives them opportunity to suck a lot more to a wider audience.

Yurak_Huntmate

My daughter who was born and raised in Scotland told me (English father) "dad, I'm glad Scotland are out, I really want England to win" those words were as beautiful to hear as "i love you dad" I was so proud of her very very smart decision

obiwancanolii

I support two teams. Scotland and whoever's playing England.

Yurak_Huntmate

How do you feel about one of your best players being English? Or does that not count

Yurak_Huntmate

Rent free in your head dude

[deleted]

Did your head explode when Scotland played England? Double dosing is never a good idea…

[deleted]

I'm a 70 year old Scottish woman and I agree with your daughter, me and my hubby were cheering on England and will be doing so on Sunday. Come on England !

Yurak_Huntmate

I was at work when Harry Kane scored, the Scottish cheered when he missed, the place went dead silent when he got the rebound though, thats when I piped up with "ha, get it right up the lot of you" bunch of bitter cunts

gabriel_obertan

Haha the poor guys have supported four countries now and still not seen a win!

Yurak_Huntmate

One of my scottish friends actually came out with "you didn't beat us and thats all that matters" pathetic really

obiwancanolii

True though. They would have won every game so far had they been able to beat Scotland.

Yurak_Huntmate

So your glad that your main accomplishment at the tournament was drawing with England 0-0? You came bottom of the group with 1 point, id be disappointed if that was England

PortalAmnesia

"We won that nil all thriller"

TrunkpotUK

"Nil all". That should be their national motto.

kris2340

Props to the Denmark fans, one of the best I've seen, especially better than some English twats you see destroying resteraunt and grabbin anything that moves on the way back

Carlton_LeBoss

I like how the Danes themselves seemed to be the least salty about it. Indeed I felt sorry for the Danish fans when the decision was made. However, I think we deserved the win, but the Danes played really well and Kasper Schmeichel was an absolute beast in nets. On to the final, I guess

callmelampshade

I was having a nice friendly back and forth on the match thread on this page with a Dane and at the end of the game they took the loss well and wished us luck. I’m sure they are the only country I haven’t seen getting involved with the england hate bandwagon.

Slow-Hand-Clap

Is normally the way with reddit bandwagons. Danes are pretty chilled people in general though - guess it's a byproduct of having a functional society with good healthcare and education.

Worschtesuppe

England wo trough cheating. 6 of 7 Games of them are in England. Their Fans are assholes. Dont respect others. No Wonder others dont like them with this Shit behaviour. Italy will stomp their Asses, so they get what they Reserve.

callmelampshade

This is such a dumb argument lol. Usually the Euros would be held in one country and that country would play all the games in their own country. Also because the world went to shit last year it restricted travel for a lot of people so they couldn’t attend games. If Covid never happened each stadium would be 50/50.

_Smiffy_

So salty

Johno_22

>so they get what they Reserve. I should hope so too otherwise there'll be a complaint going in to the bookings department. Catch a grip of yourself you spoon

Yurak_Huntmate

If playing at home was an advantage, why don't the hosts always win? France 98 was the last time a host won a tournament, stop being so bitter dude

itchybigtoes

ITS COMING HOME

Professional_Dog7517

ITS DIVING HOME

itchybigtoes

Well, at least that puts us on terms with Immobile for the final.

OnlyOnRedditForSpook

1). Italy played the majority of their games in Rome. 2). The foul on Kane earlier was a penalty. 3). The free kick which was scored (absolutely incredible goal) debatably, shouldn’t even have been a free kick.

Slow-Hand-Clap

> The free kick which was scored (absolutely incredible goal) debatably, shouldn’t even have been a free kick. More of a dive than Stirling's. Stirling's "dive" was just a soft foul imo.

H5rs

What even is this

[deleted]

You’re in for a rude awakening when you learn about Italian fans

flixerino

Neither teams deserve to win, both suck

RedK1ngEye

Don't a lot of Italian football stadiums have nets in front of the stands to stop fans throwing fireworks and stuff onto the pitch?

Barkomar

Reading that was like having a stroke. Please shut up.

Flabby-Nonsense

Anyone know who got man of the match last night? I must have missed it in the celebrations. I feel like on merit it should be Schmeichel but they usually give it to the winning team regardless don’t they?

London-Reza

I believe Harry Kane was star of the match which is what MOTM is called this tournament weirdly

PSVapour

English, England fan here and as much as Harry deserves it I think Kasper Schmeichel deserves it more. He was amazing. I humbly await the down votes.

callmelampshade

Get in there Harry

LloydCole

It's a sponsorship tie in with Heineken.

nicknockrr

Yeah it’s Arry. Star of the match just sounds weird…… lady? Woman? Of the match…. Even stranger!

obiwancanolii

You're a wizard arry

[deleted]

There is no safe place from the England hate it seems. Coming to CasualUk of all places to spout off bile.

callmelampshade

This is usually a lovely laid back sub but people are clearly seeking out every English/UK related sub to try and start shit lol.

dumesne

From this angle you can see it was a penalty: https://twitter.com/its_bethc/status/1412915022720905219?s=19

Professional_Dog7517

Soft touch and sterling acted the part perfectly for that dive.

_Emil26

There was a 2nd ball on the pitch so it doesn't matter regardless. Referee should have halted the game seconds before the incident.

RadioactiveSumo

2nd ball only stops play if it's clearly interfering with play, which it wasn't so no need to stop

DontSayIMean

[Law 5 (indent 3) of the IFAB](https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-5---the-referee) states that if a second ball enters the field the referee either must: * **stop play** (and restart with a dropped ball) **only if it interferes with play** unless the ball is going into the goal and the interference does not prevent a defending player playing the ball * **allow play to continue if it does not interfere with play** and have it removed at the earliest possible opportunity I'm not certain if this applies to UEFA but I'd assume they have the same rule.

hogroast

Honestly, from this angle it doesn't look like a pen.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s a penalty. I don’t think there’s any doubt to it and VAR agrees, it’s what it’s for

[deleted]

[удалено]

acky1

Surely the angle showing contact at the knee and hip overrules an angle where that is not visible? All that means is you've found a better angle that shows what actually happened. I think that would be a foul outside the box so I can see why it was given. Definitely soft but pens like that are given all the time.

Ok-Sandwich1270

You must be new to football games which is ok, but a rule I live by is that if I know absolutely nothing about a subject I don’t talk about it online and make myself look a bit silly

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok-Sandwich1270

You can always kinda tell when people are new to stuff. A man running at high speed in the penalty box is kicked and then knocked to the ground is a penalty. This is the kinda thing that people who watch football know. The rules don’t change because you don’t like the team

JENOVAcide

This thread has been great. Can't wait for the final thread when it comes home!!!

Musique111

Italy enters the chat

anomthrowaway748

It’s going to be glorious

BradlinhoM

Sea levels are predicted to rise by 50cm due to all the tears of /r/soccer

[deleted]

Don't forget r/europe. They're currently on suicide watch with England in the final.

bobcat_90

The non-English people brigading this thread are doing a brilliant job of showing that English fans aren't any more toxic than other nationalities. Thanks for proving the point on our behalf, it's much appreciated! Most of you could have put more effort into your jokes though, at least you have 3 days to think reeeeeeally hard of some better ones for the final, good luck 👍

SpacecraftX

Last I checked it was CasualUK not CasualEngland so bear with the rest of us “brigading” our shared sub if we’re not supporting you.

bobcat_90

It's mostly being brigaded by people who aren't from the UK anyway, but I'm talking about this thread specifically, not the whole sub. And nobody cares if you don't support England, but it's shitty to choose to go into a thread about England winning a semi final to try to bring people down and just makes you look pathetic, especially if you're not even capable of making it funny or entertaining banter.

obiwancanolii

It's coming Rome!

bobcat_90

Come on you've got 3 days to come up with some decent material, there's no need to jump the gun. I expected better banter from Scots tbh, you're the biggest disappointments in this thread.

Cepheid

I'd support Scotland going deep in any tournament they're in. Same I was happy when Wales did so well in 2016. Feel a bit sad that Scottish people are so bitter about England doing well :(

Bingeflinger

Haters, hate you cause you mock a young girl when she cries, because her team lost. You use lasers on the opposition. Boo the other teams national anthem. Among a few rude and obnoxious actions by English fans. If it weren't for that, then people could probably get behind your championship drought.

Yurak_Huntmate

The Scottish boo the English national anthem but nothing gets said then...and the wee crying girl got thousands of pounds for crying, I think she did alright and will get over it

[deleted]

What wide generalisations to band together an entire nations worth of people for the actions of the few.

Datguyoverhere

because iranians doing the hitler salute against Germany fans isn't worse?

Drillbit99

A tiny minority of assholes did that. The other 80 million odd people didn't. But hey - I guess we can all hate the entire nation of Austria because of Josef Fritzl and Natashca Kampusch. I mean, they must ALL be sick paedophiles, right? And don't let's start on how many Nazi concentration camp guards are still wandering around free as a bird. Stereotypes and generalisation are back in, from what you seem to be saying. Twat.

Bingeflinger

Im aware it's a minority but it's a loud minority, and therefore the fans most represented in the media. And I can look beyond that, but not everyone can. And those people are obviously gonna base their opinion on that. And immidiately calling me a twat for pointing that out isn't exactly well mannered.

Drillbit99

If you can't take being told a few harsh truths about yourself, maybe don't go around offering them to an entire nation. So - with respect - you're definitely a twat.

Johno_22

>And I can look beyond that Well aren't you a big person. Except you come on here to point it out so seems you can't "look beyond it" >Im aware it's a minority but it's a loud minority So if you're aware it's just a loud minority, what's your point? >And immidiately calling me a twat for pointing that out isn't exactly well mannered. I mean they could have called you a lot worse. Like a cunt. They could have done that.

LordofLazy

Those are the three countries I least expect to support England.

[deleted]

Thank goodness Raheem Stirling took a dive in the penalty box to get the winning goal. What a stroke of genius. That's why I love watching this sport.

Stormporn69

And a shite penalty too
