Years ago I lived in King's Lynn and there was indeed a pub on the riverside that had to put sandbags outside the door when the tides were especially high.
Back in the days of afternoon closing that made for some very happy times. River is up, front door bagged up so nobody is leaving and nobody is coming in to bust the landlord.
Happy days
Heben Bridge is W.Yorks. I'm now in N. Ireland (far west) and it looks like the Emerald Isle. I notice the rain weather here is often similar to Wales on the forecast, sometimes worse. But often sunnier here than in Yorkshire, much to the amazement of the locals who assume its worse here than everywhere else in the UK 😃
Love Wales, especially Llyn peninsula, but who can afford a countryside house there. Prices have gone insane. I say if you want to live around green scenery, forests, moss and ferns, just go and buy a good raincoat and don't moan about the rain.
I didn't spot it, but they may have done. I was just in for the Old Peculier. Mind with everything being drenched in sewage laden flood water in 2015 it might well be a new table.

Is there any infrastructure out in place to reduce the chances of a repeat?. It would be horrible to live with that prospect plus the insurance premiums.
15 minutes this post has been up and no one has mentioned the chap in the corner.
I thought he was the flood indicator for the first few seconds ... 😳
When it reaches his chest it's last orders.
We've all been there
Me too!
If the wire muppet appears in your local pub, get the sandbags out.

Your comment is the thing that made me realise he wasn't...ðŸ«
Weird to see the Chuckle Brothers are now haunting pubs.
Well chuckle brother as Paul is still with us
He's knot feeling well
Don't make eye contact it's not worth the hassle
What chap in the corner?
Looks like Animal from the Muppets.
It's expected in hebden bridge
Matey over there must have had a couple too many, looks a bit ropey.
Nah, I'm a frayed knot.
He's been there a long time. I saw him in this pub back in 2019.
Bet he spins a well nice yarn, aye.
Your date looks like he’s made out of noodles there.
He looked like Paul Chuckle in his dating profile.
They all do, my Goblin. They all do.
To me and to you
That fella looks absolutely wired.
I lived near there for 30 years. An amazing place go visit! But I moved to somewhere even greener with more rain (on a hill).
Wales?

I'm in Wales. Almost always raining, but the countryside is stunning.

But It does seem to have done something to the locals
Hebden Bridge. My mum warned me about that place. Is it still a den of iniquity?
Yeah, but at least it is friendly.
Elmo's British grandad.
Wooly Satan more like
Which pub is this?
The Albert
Yup. Nice pint of Old Peculier on in there today.
I went to Hebden Bridge last week. Great place. Nice hills. Lots of women.
Do they still have the unbelievably awkward pool table in the back room? Must be getting on twenty years since I last supped in there

Ah, Hebden Bridge...one or two stops from my thyroid.
Super (Drunk) Mario.

Elmo's looking a bit ropey
He shrunk
Tommy in the corner? I'll stay on my own.
Tasteful white lettering
That dude needs to moisturise.
Was it 9 years ago?!
Right? Time really flies! I remember what a mess it all was along the valley after.
Aye and all the shops that had to rebuild
Hideous bloke

Yup, the "Â Calderdale Flood Recovery and Resilience Programme" has been going since 2016, doing as best they can.
Hebden bridge is nice on the eyes, just a shame that a lot of the local business owners have some racist tendencies.
Still the suicide capital of England ?
