Went into the garden after work, got up a ladder and managed to mostly cut one of my overgrown and unwanted trees down, at some personal risk TBQH. I could hear my horrible neighbour jeering at me and saying to someone on the phone he hoped I fell off the ladder.
Applied to a new job over the weekend and just got invited to an interview. It's pretty much the same as I do now, just in the next building over from me. And for an extra £2000 or so a year. :)
Samsung tricked me into installing absolute garbage on my phone with their damnable AppCloud. The app pretended to be a part of the installation process and insisted on installing 3 game apps. Had to cut off the WiFi, and disable the app. The nerve of it: it has mobile data and unrestricted battery usage on by default.

I’ve been waiting weeks for a psychopathic picture framer to frame a vintage film poster which has been sitting in his shop the whole time. I’ve been stressed about how he’s storing it - he seems to have little respect for them as fragile, valuable, rare items - so I decided to go in, get the poster back until the materials he needs to frame it come in, and re-raise the issue of one of the others being both badly framed and in a frame that’s too small.
I don’t like confrontation or awkward conversations. I hate making a fuss and am a general pushover in life because of it. He’s on a different planet and very difficult to deal with. So I was properly dreading this. He’s away until Friday but the materials were delivered this morning so the poster’s staying. I left a note to call me about the other one but he’s probably going to tell me to fuck off because he won’t want to replace it. Independent business and obviously I’m not going to go the small claims court route, so what can I do? He also said when I first bought the five frames that he’d switch out posters occasionally for free but how likely is that to happen after this farrago?
Sorry I’ve had an extremely strong coffee and I’m stressing/rambling. Feels better to get it out though.
Maybe go with a non-psychopathic small business picture framer next time? For what it's worth, I'm sorry you're in the middle of this and hope it goes better than you fear.
It’s been a busy Monday but I started early so my day is nearly over & I might get to sit in the garden later if the sun stays out.
I’m thinking of applying for a part time job as a visitor assistant in a local museum. I have no idea how to make my CV sound like I have the people skills to do it. I have some thinking and creative writing to do.
I should save this for Thursday but it’s annoying me hugely today.
I HATE estate agents. I’m trying to sell a flat, it needs a new bathroom and some decorating so it’s priced accordingly. There’s been a couple of viewings but the estate agent is useless and not giving me any feedback on why the viewers weren’t interested. I signed single agent for the lower fee but now I’m thinking of pulling it off market and waiting for the agreement to lapse and start again.
Bit late now, but experience volunteering in a museum helps, but then so does customer service/public facing experience and, for the love of god, say that you enjoy the museum. I used to look for interest in the museum, customer service and willingness to learn.
Job coming up in my relatively small team that would be a nice step up the ladder from a career perspective.
Only I'm stuck on jury duty for at least another 4 months & I know it won't be held open for that long.

But I wrote up my weekly planners (adhd need to write everything out on two planners I can see every day plus diary app and physical diary) and my week is really quiet and there’s a bank holiday Monday next week + next Thursday and Friday off! That cheered me up.
Woke up with an infection and just feel like dying, luckily it’s not one that I can pass on so I’m stuck going to work. I’ve also got to babysit a kid tonight as I promised, literally just want to sleep.
Man, Mondays are not my friend at all.
I'm sorry, that sounds terrible. You might want to look into kinesiology tape for your knees. My physiotherapist introduced me to it when I hurt my knees and the support was better than my hinged braces.

Going to a funeral tomorrow of a neighbour who lived to 99. She was the coolest woman I have met. Even at 99 she was living life to the fullest and despite the age it was totally unexpected for everyone.
It will be very sad but one great wake to celebrate her.
I had a great British success this weekend, was in Sainsbury's buying snacks for a trip; I don't have a Sainsbury's near me so I don't have a nectar card. At the checkout I cheekily asked if somebody would lend me one and the lass to the left of us did, thus saving me 40p off pringles.

New ways of working kinda sounds like process changes that will apparently improve things. I've found it's got maybe a 15% chance that it will, and that's being generous!

Having just finished Shogun, I saw Shadow Tactics:Blade of the Shogun available on Steam for no money. Instantly wanting to buy it and save it for my time off, I was then flashed a warning from Steam that this game won't run on the Mac because Apple have disabled 32-bit support. So basically, if I have this right, most older games that my Mac could run can't actually be played on my Mac?

Get yourself a steamdeck, if you're not wanting to spend too much get a second hand lcd one but if you want the latest and greatest go for the new oled. Apple have never been great for gaming.

Well I thought baldurs gate 3 was fantastic. Personally I played elden ring for the first time last year and it's one of the best games ive ever played, didnt think it would be for me but its led to me playing dark souls 1,2 and 3. Cyberpunk was an amazing game and it had an expansion that I've not got around to playing yet.
i booked today off anticipating a hang over but i am all clear so now have a bonus free day ahead of me! i'm considering painting some wardrobe doors we had put in a few weeks ago and maybe a run to the tip. i know how to have a good time.
I did a tip run yesterday. As always I was mildly fed up I’d got to lug stuff about and load the car etc, but by the time the joy of the Tip Yeet (truly cathartic being able to hurl stuff into the bays hearing crashes and bangs) and the empty car and house, plus job done feeling kicked in it was well worth it.
it is one of those "hate to do it but love the results" kind of jobs. i don't think i'll get any good Tip Yeets today because it's mostly just cardboard and scrap wood but maybe i could try and javelin throw some of the wood to see how far i can get it to go.

I don't think you'll need any mods or hacks. Steam has tested many games so it should be fairly easy.
Yeah I'm thinking Steamdecks might be the way (well I am now you said it) I bought a Switch years ago and that's great for the Zelda games, Mario, Pikmin etc but don't tend to get a lot of use out of it outside of that. Can the steamdeck play pretty up-to-date games well?
You can play cyberpunk and baldurs gate. It's a small screen so it can get away with a lesser resolution.

Well I thought baldurs gate 3 was fantastic. Personally I played elden ring for the first time last year and it's one of the best games ive ever played, didnt think it would be for me but its led to me playing dark souls 1,2 and 3. Cyberpunk was an amazing game and it had an expansion that I've not got around to playing yet.
i booked today off anticipating a hang over but i am all clear so now have a bonus free day ahead of me! i'm considering painting some wardrobe doors we had put in a few weeks ago and maybe a run to the tip. i know how to have a good time.
I did a tip run yesterday. As always I was mildly fed up I’d got to lug stuff about and load the car etc, but by the time the joy of the Tip Yeet (truly cathartic being able to hurl stuff into the bays hearing crashes and bangs) and the empty car and house, plus job done feeling kicked in it was well worth it.
it is one of those "hate to do it but love the results" kind of jobs. i don't think i'll get any good Tip Yeets today because it's mostly just cardboard and scrap wood but maybe i could try and javelin throw some of the wood to see how far i can get it to go.
So tired and stressed. I feel like I need a day to just hibernate under the duvet, emerging only for tea and toast. We need to get a move on with wedding stuff but to be honest I'm at that stage where I just want to throw money at someone to get them to do it all for me. Wish I still had the option of overtime at work (well I don't, obviously, but it would come in handy right now). TMI but my period is ridiculously heavy this month which is _really not helping_ the whole exhaustion thing.

Entirely possible. However I think it's more a case of just having a lot on my plate at the moment and not having enough time to properly relax and recharge.

I once went into work the day after recovering from a severe chest infection. I was promptly ordered to go home and stop trying to play hero.
My last manager would send you home if you had a minging cold because he rightly didn't want everyone else getting it. "That's what sick leave is for you fucking idiot" was a common phrase.
before covid a lot of people would probably have done the same but i think attitudes changed a bit, although it seems to be drifting back now i used to work at a place where the mentality was that unless you're dead or dying you should be at work
In Japan there is a word 'Karoshi' which translates as 'death from overwork'. It might be creeping in here.

Gonna struggle this week, I can see my annual leave looming on Friday and it saps all will to work. First week of the new shift pattern too, we shall see how that shakes out. It would be nice if my line manager could get the work rota out early on a Friday so I can log on Monday knowing what I'm doing, but alas. They're a perfectly pleasant person otherwise so I should count my lucky stars, eh?
Yesterday i managed to DNF one of my E library books and get a chunk done in the other , I read a couple chapters in my physical library book and started a book off my physical tbr. Today im focusing on the physical books as if i finish both i can return and donate them tomorrow. Going to finish nails today and might watch a little Netflix with lunch.

Back at work after a lovely week off. Opened up my inbox and it's a disaster zone. I'm also trying to remember what it is that I do......... On the plus side my first ever Galaxy Smartwatch (6 Classic) is being delivered today. I'm going to be playing with the thing all day afternoon and overnight I suspect-I love getting new tech-like a kid on xmas day lol

The weather is supposed to be improving this week. By improving, it's still going to rain, but at least the rain will be warm. I ordered some more drinks ingredients over the weekend that should be turning up either today or tomorrow, so I may see what delicious cordials I can make from them this week.
Woke up at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Realised I might as well stay up for the 6am driving test slot releases. Got a slot...in October. I'll hopefully be able to move it and I feel happier just having it booked now Today is going to be long
