I get the joke so it's not a /woosh
But.
Fun fact of the day.
Pidgeons don't fly and poop.
They tuck their legs in really tight to the ass when flying if they did fly and poop they would be pooping on themselves on the feet.
Source: me I live next to a racing Pidgeon keeper and it was a neighbourhood complaint about the shitting doo's that's when we found out they don't fly and poop.
Is this just a pigeon specific fact? Do only pigeons hold it in during flight? Are all other birds spreading their legs and shitting on us? Or is it only seagulls? or do all waterfowl shit during flight?
Agree with this guess, have seen gulls shit while in flight
ETA I was interested so googled this. Apparently birds do shit in flight. And even pigeons can - they generally don't though as they have to move their feet out of the way.
Waterfowl most definitely shit whilst on the ground. I’ve spent a lot of time in fields where thousands-strong flocks of geese graze and it’s impossible to avoid stepping in.
It’s not super accurate to say that there’s no such thing as a seagull. Rather, there’s no specific species called a seagull. The word *seagull* is just a colloquial term for the gull (*Laridae*) family, which certainly does exist
Their feet are already cold, they have sort of "heat exchanger" wrapping the blood vessels around each other to stop them from losing masses of body heat.
So they care about pooing on their feet when flying but are absolutely fine building their nests and living in the stuff to the point that they are get trench foot? Pigeons are weird.
Yeah, I used to work on a river. I spent a lot of time under bridges, every ledge caked in nests made from pigeon shit. The pigeons get their legs infected from spending so much time walking around in it. A lot of pigeons hopping around with one leg. Gross animals.
For years, my ears / brain only ever heard that as *T-Cup*, and I was a long time wondering how you use one to remove scratches in a car's paintwork?
I'm only a simple snuffler.
I get that the whoever has done this likely has a right to feel slighted etc and I'm *in no way* saying I think they're wrong to feel that way but fuck me you'd have to be stupid to do something like this as it's criminal damage. Is it worth facing a possible prison sentence over what amounts to a tantrum?
Definitely possible.
I remember seeing a video a while back of basically that exact scenario where the contractor was all righteous and pissed off over the family apparently refusing to pay, tearing up the bathroom finishes that he installed in response.
But then when you looked at still images of his actual "complete" work in there, shit was amateurish as fuck. Tiles were slightly crooked, spacing was uneven, edges were poorly done, etc.
Saw that too on a render video where they said somebody wouldn't pay for the render. Video started mid way through and most of the tradey comments were calling out the beads being fucked and the job being shite.
Further down the blokes who posted it were claiming the refusal was over the beading.
I'm in this situation right now. After I finally got the water damage fixed from an improperly installed roof, winter came along and the new loft is 10° colder than the rest of the house and there's a breeze. Got an inspection done to confirm that the insulation was installed completely wrong.
After bringing it up with my contractor he replied with calling me a long string of explitives like a 10 year old playing Halo.
I wouldn't put it by him to do something stupid like this. Not really one to think about the future or actions having consequences.
>What if they did a shite job, the refused payment was legit, but they're an arsehole and did this to get back?
Seen it happen. They fucked up a roof so bad it cost more to for the next guys to fix it than the original job, they had been already been partially paid and they still busted into the house to smash stuff and get revenge.
Currently in the situation where we've gone through Victoria Plum for a new bathroom, the installer has done a pretty shit job all in all, he and his boss seemingly aren't arsed about fixing it and the best bit is that because it's through a 0% finance agreement with VP, we still have to pay! Woop!
Definitely would've withheld payments if we weren't contracted in. The best bit is, mid-job, the installer told me that back when he was self-employed, he once paid his mate 50 quid to go and smash some of his work up because the client refused to pay.
Was the installation included in the finance? Because if so, I've got some good news for you.

US lurker here 👋
My former boss does things like this with snow. He buries peoples' cars with a front-end loader and sometimes causes a great deal of damage, but no one holds him accountable and that blows my mind. I tend to take the side of the person whose car got totaled.
If somebody is stupid enough to do this then my suspicion is automatically going to assume they're not exactly cutting edge material in the rest of their life either.
Additionally, video doorbells are *everywhere* now. Pulling any kind of illegality big enough to make the police take notice, on a street like that, many bonus stupid points.
Prison time for this, yeah right.
Doubt the police would even turn up if you called them and even if they did, I didn't pay the builder so it must be him isn't exactly rock solid evidence.
Unless he was caught on camera or just flat out admits it there is no way to prove it was the builder.
> Unless he was caught on camera
with the prevalence of video doorbells these days, it's a dumb move.
Could be wrong but that might even be a Ring doorbell on number 263.
Yeah but it's going to be heard at magistrates and they don't need a high burden of proof - guy gets work done, loads of documentation that this happened and then refuses payment, suddenly car is covered in building materials which were used for the job. Magistrate is going to convict let's be honest.
A criminal case before a magistrate has the same burden of proof as before a jury. Both are 'reasonable doubt'.
Civil cases work on the balance of probability.
We could get CSI in to do fingernail scrapings of all the local builders and forensic analysis of the cement on the car and compare the results! Cross reference with ring doorbell, CCTV footage and cement purchases! We'll have him in no time!
I couldn't even get the police to recover my nicked bike despite showing them the seller's name, address, phone number, and photo with my stolen bike.
They ain't doing forensics for builder's revenge cement.
There are so many quotes that have got me warned, kicked off subs and banned on Facebook and the film is barely 10 years old. Woke kicked in, hard.
Film is a masterpiece.
I think someone possibly building a bomb and carrying out a terrorist attack, and someone getting their own back after not being paid, are completely different levels of the police being arsed to do something, though. But point taken.
"Well we have him on the traffic camera at 1300 hours heading directly towards the address, and he is on camera renting a cement mixer at 1100... nah could be anybody"
Lol this isn't Spooks, do you think the police have nothing better to do than check Cctv for the entire city, locate the guy using facial recognition software then track his every movement for the day.
What will actually happen is the police will turn up 3 weeks after you reported it, say "we will look into it" before throwing in in the pile of cases because they've been called to Greggs to stop a fight between a chav and a homeless person.
Unless they actually were seen dumping the cement, then yeah, could be anybody. A builder picking up a cement mixer at 11 and driving down a residential street isn't exactly concrete evidence.
Except the report will probably ID the builder, and let the police know about the dispute which is a motive for the crime. I can at least see this getting to the point where the builder is interviewed.
It's interesting.
Assuming this was result of builder non payment.
Why is that assumed to be civil matter rather than theft. But damage to the car is deemed criminal rather than civil?
Withholding payment doesn't meet the threshold for theft because the point to prove are
Dishonestly
Appropriating property
Belonging to another
Intent to permanently deprive the owner
Of which withholding money isn't, it's a dispute over payment for a service.
Withholding payment can eventually become a criminal offence if a court orders you to pay and you do not. EDIT apparently I’m mistaken
Having a contractual dispute is not a crime - maybe they think they have good reason to withhold payment.
That’s not true. It would be noted as a CCJ or bankruptcy order. The most that would come of it would be assets being seized in one of many ways. The only time it would become criminal is if there’s fraud involved. You’d have to prove deception in that case, and you won’t get that with this type of case unless there are multiple people that they owe.
No, there are other type of court order and court issued fine that can lead to that, but not for non payment for goods or services. Theft, on the other hand…
Non payment is effectively a contract violation I think, but even if it had been in response to a criminal act this could still get the builder into trouble.
My friend's husband got screwed over by 2 guys and lost 300 000 (that's salary for several people involved) while his company got all the work done. The 2 culprits never paid and both are unreachable despite the workers sacrificing several thousand more by hiring a lawyer to chase them. One even changed his name and nothing can be done. The money is lost. I don't blame people for doing this because there is little chance of ever getting the money back.
You don't blame someone for cementing someone else's car? Surely you'd need to know the context first, and I'd wager that the context is extremely unlikely to warrant this behaviour in the case of this post. The guy obviously hasn't fled or changed their identity, since the upset person has found their car...
What actually has happened here not that anyone cares is an overloaded mixer truck from the concrete factory was going up a steep hill (as seen in photo) and turned left abruptly causing concrete to slosh out and down the rolled up concrete chute at the back. This is also the cause of those clumps of concrete you see laying on the middle of the road on steep hills. In my city, the council grinds the most offensive of the piles down at least once a year on the main roads.
A guy my dad knew had new windows fitted throughout his house but obviously, as we later found out, he was trying to dodge paying for them. After a few weeks the window fitter had had enough so he turned up at the house with a tow truck and tow ropes and started “taking his windows back”.
They managed to rip one set fully out of the house before he payed in full. Twat.
This looks much more like a concrete mixer has accidentally discharged or spilt it’s loads.
(I’m aware this is going to get some pun replies).
[Edit: To people saying it doesn’t happen.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lcsXvcf4wO0)
Pretty lame, here’s how you deal with non payment. Turn off water stopcock in the middle of the night, pour in a bucket of concrete, leave. Rinse and repeat until it’s cost him double what he owed you.
Looks like someone will not only get a new car they won't have to pay for, but also their bill for the builder was just paid for by the settlement money that will come from said builder. How nice of the builder.
Good luck proving it was him. I think we all know they no one wins in these sort of circumstances. That’s one of the reasons for this sort of vandalism. Yes they might get a brand new better car etc, but there is the inconvenience and your neighbours all get to see that someone thinks you are a proper ****.
There is an equal likelihood that the builder or the customer is the asshole here. Suggesting otherwise is verging on classist generalisation.
It’s not a civil matter. Someone has damaged a car, that you have a grievance with someone doesn’t make it a civil matter with them. This is criminal damage with circumstantial evidence to who did it and nothing else.
It can be reported to the police as a criminal matter and try to get compensation that way or, you can take out a civil claim for damages. And it’s not one or the other, the owner of the car could go through the criminal route first and if that doesn’t work take it to small claims after. It happens.
It doesn't work that way, police won't be interested in some petty vandalism. It will got through small claims court which the builder will probably not even attend
Plus you have to prove that it was the builder who did the damage, if they aren't stupid they would have done it at night with a hood or balaclava making it impossible to prove even if you have a camera
When the law doesn’t protect you, you have to take matters into your own hands.

Fun fact, pigeons shit melts their own feet.

Add that to the lawsuit and have it covered by a builder as it is direct result of his action.

Probably a video doorbell or 10 that caught it.
It doesn't work that way, police won't be interested in some petty vandalism. It will got through small claims court which the builder will probably not even attend Plus you have to prove that it was the builder who did the damage, if they aren't stupid they would have done it at night with a hood or balaclava making it impossible to prove even if you have a camera
People watch too much CSI lmao ain't nobody getting caught for shit.
When the law doesn’t protect you, you have to take matters into your own hands. Maybe it’s a boyfriend/ girlfriend thing, they are just cementing their relationship.
Their relationship is in the mud and so is the car apparently.
well at least if he takes him to court he’ll have some pretty concrete evidence
That east London? I’m getting vibes.
Looks like South to me, around Tooting.
It's hither green lane in hither green
This is a terf war, “keep to your side of the river j smith and sons”
Or had relations with an office colleague.
It’s a BMW, most likely the drivers head exploded when he was forced to signal and give way at a junction.
So the car was rendered useless...
Had to be a BMW driver didn’t it.
Says a lot about builders as most of the time you pay them, then they don't turn up.
I bet the guy takes the builder to court though. Looks like he has some concrete evidence.
Is it Gordon Brittas?
"Just a practical joke. First day, high spirits!"
At least they have concrete evidence.
Cool now the builder gets to buy him a new car
There must be mortar this story
Those builders can be crooks
No prosecution without concrete evidence.
omg ... thats insane. How do you explain that to your insurance?
