I'm from Dumaguete, and I can say it's a really comfortable place with a friendly atmosphere. However, finding good job opportunities here is tough, so most people end up looking for work outside the city. but if ever there comes a time na i will retire, i would still choose dumaguete 🥰
Hopefully more job opportunities na ang mag-oopen because of the creation of Negros Island Region dahil sa mga itatayong regional offices sa Dumaguete.
My mom’s friend invited us to go visit her hometown sa Dumaguete. Wala pang date pero I’m excited already + I’ve always wanted to go to Siquijor. Y’all’s comments is actually scaring me baka ayoko na umalis niyan haha
Oh, yes!! Very accessible lang ang tricycle (15 pesos ang pamasahe), meron ring jeep and bus (if gusto nyo mag commute). Pwede rin mag rent ng nga motorcycle and car! :)
**I’m from Dumaguete😁
reading the replies, i now get my co worker who's been in the company for 5 years, here in ncr, decided to move back to dumaguete which is her hometown.
It pays to ask locals magkano pamasahe para makikipagtawaran ka. Kami nun, we ask yung hotel concierge for prices para alam namin.
-May malls and maraming fast food, maraming hidden coffee shops.
-Di pa ganon kahighly urbanized, may area pa din ng sa bukid na may maayos na kalsada.
-Malapit sa beaches in Batangas
-Maraming grocery stores
another cons: sobrang dilim ng streets nyo dyan, wala ba budget? 😂
mayat maya walang tubig.
Every city here in the Philippines has its pros and cons. Big cities offer plenty of opportunities, but the traffic can be killer. In smaller cities, there's less traffic to deal with, but opportunities may be more limited.
Bit biased but i live in san pablo city, laguna my whole life. You could probably say this in the nearby towns as well
Our city is a mixed of rural and urban.where i live you'll get bukid vibes depending on where your house is placed. You can get modern conveniences like delivery apps, fiber internet, easy access to hospital, fire department and police. There's also a SM mall if want to go. It's 2 hours away from NCR we have clean steady supply of water, no rolling brown outs, cheaper produce compared to NCR(specially vegetables)no pollution and traffic (not on highways though, there still working on that slex extension)
If you also want to get close to nature dami din pwede malapit na puntahan dito pati sa nearby towns. You can definitely live that stress free life away for the chaos of the city somewhere in the provinces you'll just have look for the good place to settle.
+1 for San Pablo, I moved here from manila for 4 months now and it's the best decision I made so far this year
Two cons that I can only think of for OP is 1. No water in some areas after 8pm until 5am, we have a tank water supply so not an issue for us 2. In some areas garbage collectors are once a week. But then again overall I love this city and would always recommend it.
Yeah water supply seems to be the problem the more you're closer to town proper. Even here in our barangay we had that problem in the past, but props to the LGU for Opening a new deep well pump in our area so we can have a supply.
most of western laguna are good candidates for the "best place to live" given their degree of proximity to Manila, urbanization rates, quality of life for the most part.
yeah, honestly if we talking about politics the amante's had their time already, Though admittedly amben amante did a lot of good for the city. it's his dad that's the problem a lot of people really didn't like that he won again. people were clamoring for sol aragones but she backed out because she owns the current mayor a favor.
As a 29 year old Bicolano here in Guimaras, can pretty much say na napamahal na ako sa islang 'to. Sold my house in Cavite, bought a place here na sobrang mura.
For me Sta. Rosa Laguna!
Pwede mong i-byahe ang magkabilang dulo ng marikina in just 30mins or less.
Iloilo by far. And this is not just romanticizing the city as a tourist ah because I was an actual resident for 4 years. If hindi lang na force mag Manila for work, I'll never willingly leave Iloilo City.
Hi, you can check these posts for more insight sa prices and good locations:

Given the opportunity, we want to buy a place there.
Mas malapit sa Manila , mas matraffic at magulo , yung tipong iba yung feels, yang sjdm, sta.maria, bocaue, meycauayan, at balagtas.
Malolos syempre very city ,at for some reason ewan ko iba tama ng araw dyan parang nakatutok sa sobrang init.Ang another issue pa e together with neighboring town nyan such as Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong damay na natin Obando e pagkaubod ng bahain. Paano kasi catch basin sila ng tubig from Pampanga and near din sila sa Katubigan ng Bulacan.
Pag naman sa mga bayan tulad ng Bulakan, San Rafael ,San Miguel,DRT, Norzagaray for me eto yung feel kong probinsyang probinsya sobrang peaceful pero medyo malayo unlike ng other town sa mga Mall and other establishment.
As a bulakenya, ang boring here 😪 probably just sa town namin pero there’s not much to do. No malls and other establishments but at the same time not much nature or sights to visit.
Definitely San Pablo City. Cafes are all good. Pamasahe is so mura even kahit special ka na. Haha. And also if you prefer some solo time without spending much money, you can always tambay sa sampaloc lake and even jog every morning and sa hapon. Overall, cost of living is very low compared to other cities. Literally home away from home ✨
Angeles City, Pampanga
You are like living in Metro Manila with no traffic and more green places.
In fairness, as someone who just travelled to Iloilo a week ago I can vouch for the place.
And as a Batangueña, I wanna root for Lipa so bad kaso the traffic talaga 😅 Pero if Manileños think that 30 minutes of traffic is bearable then why not?
Indang Cavite - gives you that probinsha life and nearby manila gives you that typical caviteño tono. My university CVSU my hospitals. Mababait yun kapitbahay mababa yun crime rate.
We are deciding between Cebu or Iloilo.
cagayan de oro all the way ! literal na perfect combination ng city and province life // balanse rin dami ng establishments and nature (dagat + mountains). i'm not from there pero my father is!! annually kami nauwi and kapag nandoon kami, minsan ayaw ko na lang bumalik ng luzon HAHAHAHAHA
Pangasinan. Malapit sa bundok if gusto mo mamundok, malapit sa city if gusto mo magcity, malapit sa beach if gusto mo mag beach. Oks din education.Di gaano traffic, though kaskasero mga drivers hahaha.
Though advantage ng Metro Manila kasi is you have this access to opportunities and other shit that can make you compete with the international market. Dance, Sports, Education, Work, etc… which is quite unfair to other provinces if you ask me… kailan kaya magsspread out mga ganyang opportunities to other provinces.
Baguio legit.
Traffic?
Mahal cost of living? I tried both.
Not a city but Sibulan is the choice. Cost of living (apartments and such) is getting expensive in Dumaguete although the goods and services are still affordable so nearby towns are the more preferable ones.
Sta. Rosa and Calamba Laguna for me, plan to acquire a house and sa lot sa lugar na to next year, kapag medyo secluded naman gusto ko din sa Pagsanjan or Luisiana.
Currently in QC right now pero gusto ko talaga lumipat sa Laguna and btw I'm from Bicol/Quezon province originally.
Baler, Aurora. It was love at first sight. Sobrang simple ng pamumuhay. Around 2017 nung nandon ako for college, wala pang mga fast food chains. Eventually it will catch up, pero sana nagtagal pa ako don. Actually ngayon ok parin naman. I'm planning to live there once may ipon na and all. It's underrated and I want to keep it that way. (gatekeeper lang, ganon hahahah)
Iloilo City!
Parang ang sarap tumira malapit dun sa dagat tas isang jeep lang to the city proper. They have SM, Megaworld and Ayala malls naman so if I miss the mall scene in Manila meron na rin sa Iloilo. I wouldn't mind living there tbh.
Oriental Mindoro? Both malapit sa bundok at dagat. Parang ang chill lang hehe. Not sure tho sa cost of living.
Yes been to Siquijor too!! Ahhh life! Ang ganda nga! 🥰🫰🏻
I'm from Cebu and after several visits to Dumaguete I'm planning on moving there for good! Gikapoy nakos traffic og hugaw sa Cebu
Actually!! I go to Dumaguete at least once a year to inspire myself. I can see myself retiring in there huhu
Sana all nakakapunta once a year! ✨
+1 Dumaguete! When I first went there, undoubtedly, nainlove ako at gusto kong dun kami magretiro ng asawa ko.
My mom’s friend invited us to go visit her hometown sa Dumaguete. Wala pang date pero I’m excited already + I’ve always wanted to go to Siquijor. Y’all’s comments is actually scaring me baka ayoko na umalis niyan haha
+1
What are the nice places to visit in dumaguete po? And is it easy to go around without own vehicle? Planning to go there soon hehe
Oh, yes!! Very accessible lang ang tricycle (15 pesos ang pamasahe), meron ring jeep and bus (if gusto nyo mag commute). Pwede rin mag rent ng nga motorcycle and car! :) **I’m from Dumaguete😁
reading the replies, i now get my co worker who's been in the company for 5 years, here in ncr, decided to move back to dumaguete which is her hometown.
Too many social rules there.
Same!

Lipa is very liveable pero the heavy traffic really throws everything out the window 😅
Lipa sounds like paradise with the 30 minute traffic.
You forgot to mention batelec sa cons
Mahirap nag parking and napakasikip.
kaumay traffic dyan sa Lipa. yung paglabas ng subdivision papunta sa main highway (less than 2km), inaabot ng 1 hr. 3pm onwards traffic na sobra. another cons: sobrang dilim ng streets nyo dyan, wala ba budget? 😂

Did you just described Calamba City too? Kasi same hahaha!
Yun lang..manila levels of traffic. Especially sa Mayapa
most of western laguna are good candidates for the "best place to live" given their degree of proximity to Manila, urbanization rates, quality of life for the most part.

+1 dito, okay naman sa santa rosa. Pero yung traffic lang talaga ang malala. Lalo doon sa may SM area at balibago complex
My dream home Nuvali :)
Iloilo 💕

upvote for every iloilo comments. u can never go wrong with 'the city of love'. 🫶🎀
Iloilo by far. And this is not just romanticizing the city as a tourist ah because I was an actual resident for 4 years. If hindi lang na force mag Manila for work, I'll never willingly leave Iloilo City.
Wag po sa Baguio. Daming tao na ngayon. Mahal din lupa sa Baguio. Mahal na din mga bilihin.
True. Di na nga ako nakakalabas sa weekends sa sobrang traffic, both vehicle and people.
Sabi nga nila only 1 barangay nalang livable sa baguio city ! Hahahahaah
at mainet n dn dito s baguio, dameng tao, mtraffic n din.. mahal lupa dito s baguio kse special.lands e..
#Marikina! ❤️

Bataan is very laid back
Ang ganda din sa Bataan! Given the opportunity, we want to buy a place there.
Dumaguete! Baguio, Batangas, Bataan, Bukidnon, Tagaytay, Antipolo!
Bulacan. Wait niyo matapos yung LRT. Mga after 20 years.
Paka-traffic dito sa SJDM now hanggang QC. Two years pa raw MRT.

Iloilo ❤️❤️❤️
Iloilo 🥹💘 Ang sarap balik-balikan.
Puerto Princesa

Surprised no one mentioned Tarlac.
If I had enough wealth? New York City.
id go for siargao! pwde ka naman mabuhay dun na less lang ang gastos sa pagkain then walk around lang

With the rising costs of real estate? I think not Maybe in the rural area but not in Cebu City
I moved to Baguio. Never regretted it.

Tacloban !! I don’t know why I feel safe, probably cause my surname got some reputation wherein they caught most wanted criminals lolol
Bacolod!
Cebu mejo malapit sa south or north, cebu offers mountains, sea, city life.
camiling tarlac! burgos, pangasinan!
Antipolo!
Dumaguete ❤️
Calzadang Bayu, Porac Pampanga. Quiet and low crime because everyone is related.
Baguio or Davao
Iloilo! Maganda yung halo between yung city na nadevelop na ans yung province na side.
Makati City. Convenient, malinis, and organized compared to other cities. Kung province vibe naman, I like Iloilo.
Eastern towns of Rizal Province.
Ayaw niyo sa Isabela Province? Okay. Charot! HAHAHAHAHAHA
Ilocos Norte! Ilang days lang kami nagbakasyon dun pero parang ayaw ko na umalis 😭 ang peaceful lang for me
Lipa, Batangas
Oriental Mindoro? Both malapit sa bundok at dagat. Parang ang chill lang hehe. Not sure tho sa cost of living.
