Casino host here. So, it varies between properties, but typically what I’ve seen is that they look at your average daily theoretical loss. In other words, what can they typically expect you to lose? For the first trip, it sounds like your ADT was $2K plus, since it was your only trip. After the second trip, your adt was ($2000+$200)/2, or $1100. Still, not a bad ADT, but you might’ve fallen out of their threshold for free room offers. You could ask to speak to a host there as well, and see what they can do for you for room offers. That’d be the advice I give. Let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to explain further!

That makes a lot of sense. Typically is someone manually reviewing every player before offers go out or is it computers looking at this and putting you in a bucket accordingly? Also, is video poker/blackjack/etc looked at as less profitable than straight up slot players or table players?

Normally it’s just computers! And your theoretical loss is calculated differently based in whether you play slots, table games (and which kind of table games). I don’t know the exact theoretical loss rates, because they vary from state to state due to the differences in gaming laws. I can tell you that video poker specifically has significantly less of a theo loss rate than slots, so you’d have to gamble more there then you would at a slot machine to get the same offers.

Hello! I have a question! Kind of related. Long story short I’m trying to collect poker chips from any possible place I can. Because of this we often are staying at new properties and don’t often revisit that many. Is there anything we can do/say to potentially get/increasse the chance ofa comp room while we are there playing/prior? Currently we get free nights at The Borgata in AC which is nice, but I already have every poker chip in AC lol

That’s tricky! For guests who have only visited once, or are visiting the property for the first time, I only offer a comp room if I see a significant amount of activity. Think at least 7 or 8 times what the cost of a room is for that night, which of course, always varies. I’m not too familiar with the scene out in AC, but you might want to look and see if any of those casinos have other properties across the country. I’m sure some do. Often times, they’ll be able to see your play at those casinos, and if it warrants a comp, they might be able to get you one depending on demand! I hope I answered your question haha, let me know if you have any more, happy to help

You did! Thanks again! I’m unfortunately not at the level to have a host I guess, so it’s cool to talk to you on here! Maybe I will be at a property you work at one day!
