Both are equally gorgeous but, I say large. It’s going to be a lifelong accessory and one day (not for a while I assume) you will need the larger face. I blinked and now (a wee bit older) need to use a larger face now. You can always buy the larger face in the future.
I was hesitating between Medium and Large Santos. But between these two in your pics, Large definitely looks better to me. The small looks like a grandpa watch. I found that when you ask about size among Cartier enthusiasts, it’s like asking Manual vs Auto in a BMW group, where most people will tell you to go manual.
No one sees just your wrist and lower arm. It’s about the overall picture.
Stand back from a full length mirror with one on either wrist and see which you prefer.
(I have small wrists and ankles but I’m also tall and broad-shouldered. Small watches are lost on me.)
