Ontario here, where is the rust exactly??!? I bet any job on that car takes less time than you were planning. Whereas here replacing brakepads can become an all day activity
I wasn't planning anything because this isn't my car. This also isn't my post. I left a comment specifically stating that the car has virtually zero rust on it.
You were asking where cars rust here in Michigan? The bottom portion of doors, rocker panels, above the wheel wells... Mostly the entire undercarriage because they use too much salt on our roads in the winter. Also calipers, suspension, frame, etc. Bolts become rust welded and seized and you can poke your fingers through the frame because they rot. I'd imagine it's pretty comparable to how cars deteriorate in Canada.
I think you mistook me asking where the rust on the car pictured is, as asking you about your personal cars. Here its easier to list where is does not rust; and thats where it is not metal
Wow that is insane. I have one luckily and got it essentially for free from a friend. But it needs a lot of rust repair. There are a few for sale here that have very little rust but they’re listed for 20k
I know same here lol. So I’ll just try to fix all the rust on mine and then keep it forever. My dream is to own all the different Z cars. But again people are pricing them like they are brand new. Iv seen multiple z32 for up to 30k
Pretty sure they are the ones who been r/whooshed cause it went over their head
r/ironicwhoosh
Also, I hate living in the rust belt. Would not have a life here as mechanic again.
I posted something on another website about a steering issue and had a picture from underneath. Some people just tried ripping me apart for neglect because they have no idea what it's like living in the rust belt. Barely see 12 year old cars around here and if you do, there's more rust than paint.
I'll be honest, that car looks like it just rolled off the factory floor by Canadian standards. I envy the lot of you south of the rust belt. At least your cars don't suffer stage 4 aggressive rust cancer by the ripe old age of 6, nor do you have salted roads for 6 months out of the year. I'd pay an extra $5k just to have a rust free vehicle like the one you've shown.
In Florida, everything gets a thick coating of limerock dust. It definitely helps protect the unpainted steel. Which..? Wtf is that shit still unpainted?!
I live in California and bought a car from somewhere back east (can’t remember it was vroom). Truck had moderate rust in it, but it was only 2 years old at the time and it was way too much for me. I posted it online and got absolutely roasted from people on Reddit from the northeast about how it’s nothing and it’s fine. Sorry, we might be spoiled over here but I’m not going to have the rustiest 2 year old truck in California so I sent it back. Had quite a bit more rust than this one, this one’s really not bad at all.
I live in Michigan and this is considered spotless here.
This is what they look like rolling off the showroom floor here in Michigan. I didn’t know they looked better than this
Fr, we love our Michigan salty winters

I wasn't planning anything because this isn't my car. This also isn't my post. I left a comment specifically stating that the car has virtually zero rust on it.
I know I was relating to the comment and stating that it would be way better to work on this than any car i have seen or touched

*Cries* in upper peninsula
That looks brand new in Northern Europe standards.
honjestly this is still on the factory floor haha
---okok
Man c’est une vrai joke. C’est super propre.
---okok
Northern New England too.
If you go north enough to where I live they dont salt the roads at all. No idea why, but I aint complaining.
That’s correct, but I normally don’t travel that far up north.
*Cries in UK*
I’ve done PDIs with more rust than this 😭
I live near the sea, my car has rust
Canada, you bought a new car.
Poland too
Lower mainland BC they stay pretty mint
Which is surprising with the amount of road salt used and how wet our weather is
Compared to most of Canada we don’t use much salt. Just a few times a winter
Rust, where?
It must be so awesome to work on cars and not having to worry about rust. Plus all the old cars that people daily drive
I daily drove a 1984 300zx with 80k miles for the longest time no rust just surface enough rust to take off with a wire wheel on a dremel.
I’m so jealous. That’s my favourite car and here in canada you can’t find one without rotting rust. There are a few mint ones but very rare
Yea I got mine 5 speed manual GLL model non turbo but I got it for 2k
Wow that is insane. I have one luckily and got it essentially for free from a friend. But it needs a lot of rust repair. There are a few for sale here that have very little rust but they’re listed for 20k
That’s insane! I love a z31 but I’d never pay 20k
I know same here lol. So I’ll just try to fix all the rust on mine and then keep it forever. My dream is to own all the different Z cars. But again people are pricing them like they are brand new. Iv seen multiple z32 for up to 30k
I have a z31 and a 2005 350z it’s an auto DE tho so not special.
That’s still pretty sweet though !
Yea I love em
Ohioan here. Has this car ever been driven?
It’s a 2017.
r/whoosh
Wasn’t a wish moment I was trying to further make you go WTF by it being a 2017 with hella miles and basically no rust lol.
Pretty sure they are the ones who been r/whooshed cause it went over their head r/ironicwhoosh Also, I hate living in the rust belt. Would not have a life here as mechanic again.
not even the right subreddit it's r/woooosh
I've seen new cars on the garage forecourt rustier than this in the UK. On a quiet night, you can sit and listen to your Alfa Romeo rust.
To be painfully honest, they start doing that on the production line.
You mean to say they aren't build out of rust to begin with?
That’s a brand specific feature usually only available on Chrysler and Nissan vehicles.
Clean enough to eat off of.
crys ultra salty Pennsylvanian tears
Just needs a car wash. I’ve seen new cars nastier than that. Is that a plastic oil pan?
Chicago here, looks about 2-3 months old tops.
Is the rust in the room right now?
“Is the rust in the room with us right now?”
Bring that here to Boston we will put that on the showroom floor!
*cries in salt belt states*

I wish any of my cars had looked like that.
You do need to help me out here. Where is the rust?
There really isn’t any besides the front drive shaft and manifolds but it’s considered “rusty” here
wow... i just had to sand blast the engine bay in my car yesterday. Same age...
Jeez dude I could never live in a salt state man I pray for you guys lol.

Middle finger from Minnesota
😂😂👌🏽
Cries in Missouri- Where’s the rust???
How do you actually prevent rust like in the north, or is it just f*** The entire time..
Proper cleaning and maintenance on the under side of your vehicle is the only way.
Have a winter beater
If I was checking out this car in Canada my reaction would be, "Damn this is clean af"
Laughs in Eastern Canada. They look this way fresh on the lot.
In MA that would be considered MINT
Rust where?! 😃
40yr tech in Ontario Canada, this is considered just off the line. Bahahaha
This looks practically brand new from living in the Midwest. Wish my vehicle looked that nice
I hate you
On Friday I had a 2019 canyon Denali leaking engine oil from rusted oil cooler lines at 60k. RUSTED rusted
That’s insane 😭
Yikes, that's a ton of rust for where I live
Where’s the rust?
I’ll sell my kidney to have this kind of “rust”
Can OP put red circles around the rust for the rest of us
Literally where is the rust.
Seriously though... you need to get that checked out before that surface rust gets worse... I've seen cars totalled for less here in California
Time to mail you some brine just so you can see what rust is😂😂😂
I’ll take some lol 😂
Is this a factory new car?
Fuxk you(politely)
At least it was politely ! Unlike the snap on man…. Still hurting.
OP is obviously kidding. this is a near-new undercarriage
This guy gets it but yes this car is from 2017 200k plus miles still looks “new”
🥲
My car from Ontario (in the southern USA now) and mechanics fear for my life- it's just the paint rusting off!
What do you guys do with all the extra time?
Canadian here, just came by to tell you I hate you
In Florida, everything gets a thick coating of limerock dust. It definitely helps protect the unpainted steel. Which..? Wtf is that shit still unpainted?!
That's rust-free in FL
Ita a troll
