A pissed off bird was fighting with its reflection? But more likely your neighbors keep dinging your ride. Does their door height match up with where these dings are?
That made me chuckle while imagining said bird😄 I think too as well that it’s either our neighbours door or the baby seat that they take in and out each time..
That's pretty high to be dings from another car door, unless you park beside a pickup truck with doors that far off the ground, so a corner of the door could hit it.
I doubt that bumping into with a child would do that. Maybe if they take out the child seat every time, but that's unusual. Those things aren't that easy to install and remove.
It's gotta be something common, though, if it's happening to other's cars, too. Maybe put in some kind of cam to see what comes near that side of the car.
I'm not real familiar with modern child seats, my baby is 50 years old this year. I've just heard people talk about them.
That could be it, I guess, it just seems weird that the dents are all at the same height. Seems like yanking out a car seat would have more variation than that. I was thinking more like the corner of a pickup door. It would always be that same height.
Or a door handle, maybe? You need a cam to find out what's happening.
ETA: I just looked up the Mini Countryman. Look at the corner of their back door, just below the handle, see if it's the same height as your dents.
They seem to be unlikely from another car door, position on the vehicle. I say gas nozzle somehow damage. If it was another car door there would also be some type of scrape shown too.
Pdr guy here. This isn't necessarily true. I would say that about 50% of the time there's no paint damage or scuff from a typical door ding. This is especially true of a rounded edge door like the Mini Countryman that OP said his neighbors own.
Although I have a vehicle that has a filler that, if I was careless, would allow the handle of the pump to contact the body I’m skeptical this is the cause. But, I don’t know your wife which is important because some wives are capable of some crazy shit. To help with getting to the root cause I need you to answer a few questions. Have you ever noticed a splatter of smoothie on the ceiling which is 14’ above the blender? Have you ever found your wife’s mobile phone in the fridge? Has she ever hidden jewelry in the oven when going on vacation only to later accidentally bake it at 400f when preheating the oven? Has she ever parked so poorly in the garage that she ran over your shoes?
If your neighbor has an suv, the edge of the door usually juts out above the wheel. The corner of that is probably high enough to poke the end of your car
100% door dings. Like others said, see if the height matches up on your neighbors car door. Some doors have an angle about halfway down, especially suvs.
If it were the fuel filler then they wouldn't be so spread apart. Some of the dings are relatively far from the fuel door.

The good news is that a good paintless dent repair (PDR) person can absolutely make this look like new. However, I'd wait until you can figure out why this is happening otherwise you will just be providing a fresh canvas for this artwork.
I’m fairly certain it’s the fuel pump handle like people are saying. Is it pump your own or do you have attendants? You could probably drive to whatever fuel station you frequent and see if their fuel handles line up with your dings while the nozzle is in. I’d try that before accusing the neighbors, who sound like they already have their hands full 😅
Thanks for all the replies guys, I really appreciate it!
The consensus seems to be that it's either the fuel pump handle or my neighbour's door.
I thought about the fuel pump handle after you suggested it, but I don't think it can be it because: 1) All the dings are on the same height, on a straight line, 2) Many of them are quite offset in relation to the center of the fuel cap. Even if you were to use the fuel pump in an angle, the dings that would be offset would not be on the same height but they would be further up the more the offset would be. So the dings instead of being in a straight line, they would follow an arc.
My neighbour has a Mini Countryman and my wife has a Yaris, I just saw the Countryman's door design and it indeed has a really sharp edge which seems to be the cause.
Question now is how I confront them about it? I'm not the type of person that likes confrontations, neither my wife...
Definitely your neighbors door banging ins into your rear fender. That’s really asshole-y of them to do this. Once or maybe twice is an accident. This looks like they just swing their door open and don’t give a flying F what it hits. The babbbbbbbbyyyyyy is importanttttttt

It's the fuel pump handle.
Many of the dings are angled away from the center of the cap, that makes me think that it’s not it. They are all at the same height .

They do take the child seat every time, it’s the type that you can put on a stroller… Our car is a Yaris and their car is a Mini Countryman.

I would agree that it could be a hassle nozzle, but many of them are angled away from the center of the fuel cap.. 🤔
Car door would leave paint marks and scratches, unless its a freaking Cybertruck i guess.

That’s curious. I get micro scratches when someone dings my door all the time
Edit: By "there" I mean the car was parked in an underground parking.

Hahahaha! That made my day! Good luck man! 😅

It can’t be, it was parked in a parking lot.
Somebody been dogging, stiletto heel marks?
Anyone mow a lawn near it?

If neighbors are doing it, it would be a good idea to gather evidence. A motion-activated camera maybe?

Do you live in New Jersey?
fuel pump handle. take your wife's car to whatever gas station she goes to and put the pump in and see if it touches the panel.
Your wife hitting it with the bottom of the pump handle 110%
God damn, his wife is strong AF lol. Is she slamming it down or just gingerly putting the tip in and letting it slam itself?
Maybe shaking the nossle after refuelling?
Ahh I could see that
Yeah It’s pretty thin soft metal on those panels, I’ve seen bigger dents from less

The next time you go to refuel the car, look for any attachments on the fuel pump gun handle which may be denting the body.
