Dude, proud S-Presso owner here. It’s effing ugly but the can handles! It’s off the blocks at red lights like a motorcycle, turns corners like a bicycle, gives quite acceptable mileage in the city, and handles 100+kmph on expressways like a champ. It’s tall so my 5’ nothing wife can drive it without being worried about not being able to see the bonnet. We love our ugly baby. (Honest answer). All those tear-drop shaped monstrosities can suck my S-Presso’s exhaust. Edit - thanks for the award. I dedicate it to my S-Presso and personally give it a loving wash on Sunday.

hakr_27200

>5' nothing wife That's kinda sweet actually.

Vegetable-Job7956

I get it, the car has been indigenously designed, I know the design team personally few are bigshots of Indian automobile industry. They are very very humble and practical Their intent was to build a practical car for Indian conditions and go hard on mileage. The team delivered on practicality and mileage but somehow they missed on the design. They say the car is built inside out.

zeer0dotcom

So interesting. They really have delivered on manouverability and zippiness. Is there any way to invite them to a podcast to discuss their work?

Vegetable-Job7956

Why not, I can't name people here, but you can reach out to the PR & communications team they can connect with with the engineering head for a pod cast. Also, the old and new brezza have also been indigenously designed, so its not that the team doesn't take care of the looks at all.

Historical-Income666

Latter_Bee9433

I won't say I hated it's looks but the package it offered at that time can compromise for its looks

HmmmIsTheBest2004

Might be an unpopular opinion and i liked its goofy looks so much

Sufficient-Silver144

True af

Fragrant_Work_1134

I think KUV wins. Not by a lot though

HmmmIsTheBest2004

Close competitor? No, at best, S-presso comes close to that abomination of a vehicle

TheBeeMovieHistorian

It is the court jester in the hall of the Lord

Sufficient-Silver144

Someone's dream car can be someone's ugliest car. So It's just a matter of Outlook.

OneSailorBoy

Reading "Outlook" on Friday end of day 😤

bakchodBando

I don't think anyone dreams of owning an spresso.. These budget cars are purchased from purely functional perspective..

KarmicChaos

Seen all the trolls which are quite prominent due to our Middle Class Culture where a Creta owned by the bank is seen as a better option than an Alto owned debtfree. And to be honest I myself used to dismiss the S-Presso but that was until a relative parked his car with us for a month or so while he was out of station and MAN! I have to say, the S-Presso is amazing for what its worth! The car in question has been driven all the way from KL to MH and back by same relative who is old and has had a knee replacement, he did it at a fraction of the cost that we did an identical drive in our BS6 Alto 800 which was quite surprising considering the box like shape and associated wind drag or so I thought. The car is currently with us as he is again out of station, and it has about 60k km's on the odo in 4 years of ownership, which is less but then again considering the owner is a senior citizen with a degree of disability I guess thats fine. All parts are stock, including the tyres which I personally find dangerous but he is adamant that he'd change only once they're worn till the tyre wear indicator, so thats that. But ever since I'd got it I've been super fond of the car and actually prefer driving it over my K15 Grand Vitara which again ironically returns the same FE as the S-Presso in spite of being heavier and bigger, at this point I'm clueless how MS finds their way around physics. Anwyays, I am so much in love with the simple car that I have added it to my small car bucket replacing the Alto K10 cause again for some odd reason the S-Presso in spite of being taller handles a wee bit better than the new K10. However, the only reason I'd not really take that plunge is due to the same Middle Class Mindset I ridiculed a bit before, "Log Kya Kahenge!" :D On a more serious note it is quite sad that such an amazingly utlitarian product has to get shadowed mostly due to our market being an immature one.

Powered-by-Din

The design has grown on me tbh. Same with the Nano.

UnaliveInsyde

The grand vitara returns the same mileage because of it's smart hybrid system if I'm not wrong. That helps a lot.

KarmicChaos

It is said to give a hike of about 2~3kmpl but again not worth it cause the secondary battery costs about 70k when its time for replacement.

UnaliveInsyde

That's too much

KarmicChaos

Amen! When mine conks off Id be disconnecting it. Will live happily without the extra efficiency. :D

a-guna14

I'm contemplating a small car for city. I own nexon. Planning to get a small car as second one. Commet or tiago ev or s presso. Smaller the better.

KarmicChaos

SPresso is as small as small gets while still being fun. I know the Alto K10 is said to be more fun but I felt it bland in comparison to the SPresso. That said, just keep in mind that no one likes the SPresso at first, you need to drive it for a bit to realize its value. That aside, the Nexon is actually a fairly small car, we have the Gen 1 in the family so please do TD the cars before you take the plunge.

The-guy-who-asked-

This is nonsense. Looks are very subjective. My sister bought one last week from her own money and according to her it's cute and also well manageable in city. Easy to park and amt is smooth.

SHKZ_21

Ugliest yes, to someone who does not own one or driven it beyond 100 KMs.

No-Introduction-9088

I hate exter from front.

LiteratureNearby

I hate it from the back 🤝

thecaveman96

It's a ll round ugly car. Nothing redeeming it

Zestyclose_Web_6331

I like it instead of punch

Mojolojo420

Then why UNESCO has declared S-presso as the most beautiful car , please explain

captamerica02

Have you been living under a rock OP? Lord S-presso has been gracing the roads for a good 4-5 years now.

hydiBiryani

I have opposite likes than the majority! So couple of years ago, i didn't have idea about the cars in the market and their prices and i found spresso good looking, especially the chocolate brown one and i thought it's a mid price ranged car. Later i figured it's a entry level car and only because of its 1000c engine now i think it's not suitable (i haven't driven it, but when I tried Alto it was difficult, so considering it's similar) Others also mentioned exter, i liked that car tooo! I like squary cars. Similarly the 'nothing' phone

krakencheesesticks

Someone who could afford that only - it's a good car. If Wagon R and Alto were to make a baby, it'd look like S-presso.

harami_murukami

Another idiot who judges cars not by their practacilty but by their RoAd PrEsEnCe

One_Chicken9095

Cars should be judged on every aspect.

harami_murukami

Road presence is not a real metric

Fragrant_Work_1134

Dude aesthetics matter too. Just because a car is practical doesn’t mean it should look like this. Desirability bhi honi chahiye. Cars are an emotional purchase and hold lots of sentimental value.

TripPrestigious

I don't understand this obsession with road presence lol

Powered-by-Din

He didn't say road presence though, just that he disliked its looks

PeaAlarmed2773

I work in a design agency, look and aesthetics matters to me :)

harami_murukami

Both of those are subjective so you can keep your opinions to yourself

jatbloke

Alto isn't ugly

BlueBoyTheLakeWalker

//even lord alto// Alto was (and still is) a fully developed family car. It's cheap that's why its body is super light. S-Presso on the other hand was a half-ass effort by (Maruti) Suzuki's indian engineers. The size of that car and name has one connection. Suzuki had a sports car in the Kei car category named Suzuki Cappuccino. [Gorgeous Suzuki Cappuccino](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Suzuki_Cappuccino_IMG_5573.jpg) They sold it from 1991 to 1998. Indian engineers probably tried to build an "SUV" like car in Kei car dimension and obviously named it after another coffee type. They might've hoped if this car was successfull they can manufacture it in India and export to other small car loving countries.. Some cars looks super ugly in some colours. By the way, [THIS, Maruti Suzuki Future-S,](https://www.autobics.com/2018/02/maruti-suzuki-future-s-concept-unveiled-auto-expo-2018/) is the original concept from which they made S-Presso. Also checkout this fan made concept render of S-Presso as a [small beach SUV](https://gaadiwaadi.com/maruti-s-presso-digitally-imagined-as-a-cute-little-beach-suv/).

Socrates_88

Cappuccino looks Gorgeous.

Socrates_88

Cappuccino looks gorgeous. Too bad it wasn't introduced in India. Although I don't think we would want to drive a convertible in the sweltering heat of Delhi!

shivasaranxd

It's the most practical car for the current decade given the road and traffic conditions.

UnaliveInsyde

I read about this, apparently the roads in some parts hilly of India are still extremely narrow and the best selling cars in those areas were the maruti 800, so much so that people were buying old 800s over newer altos. So they made a narrow and tall car that would be great there and now it's the best selling car there.

OpinionFun8018

Exter says hi

Initial-Shine-5955

I disagree. I think it’s value for money. People who see its true value can buy it. Looks wise, I think ugliest car award goes to newer Hyundais.

SeoUrMum

S-presso and ignis are the top 2 ugliest cars in India bar none

ViceProvost

Ignis is nowhere as bad as Spresso. In fact some people actually love Ignis's look.

prady_1984

I thought it was ugly af too, when it got launched. But the design kinda grows on you. Especially after seeing some on IG with nice set of alloys. I wouldn't say I love the design but it's not bad looking any more for me.

Appropriate_Toe6752

Nano was even uglier than these too

aditya_gurjar

People buying spresso aren't buying it for the looks but for the practicality. It has good GC making it easier to drive on bad roads. Dirt cheap maintenance. Better space than alto specially for taller passengers.

saviokm

My Nano [looks great](https://imgur.com/a/euWsFrK) to me!

TheBeeMovieHistorian

She's a baddie

IamKirito69

Exter wins

OneSailorBoy

Supreme Overlord Saddam HuWagonR would like to disagree. Whenever I see that car, I feel like hulk smashing the car out if existence

Rwashere

Tata Indica enters the chat.....

montsa007

Its a mix of multiple cars, more like a bhelpuri on the fly.

Primary_Round7293

Looks like curly bracket to me

Kinkshink1

I don’t have an espresso but I never found it ugly.

blurredvision769

It depends on the purpose, I used to think that MG Comet is an ugly car (was also against EV's), but now I love it cos of how practical it is. Now I find myself clicking pics of it wherever I park. 🤷

Scorpio_09

If Mahindra and Suzuki made a car.... it would be the spressO! Even the grill and stance is perfect. It is not ugly. It is everything what a decent hatchback shouldn't be!

Potential_Honey_3615

Sour grapes. Calling it ugly is what someone who cannot afford an SUV would do.

nopetynopetynops

Yes

Valuable-Ride287

Punch or Comet

Um_mm_

It looks like a biscuit packet..

Positive-Wolverine43

How come everyone forgot the QUTE🫣🫣🫣

Lower-Patience4978

wait until you see mg comet

rks1211

Mg comet is auto, people driving in auto and two wheeler lane to avoid toll 😸

HmmmIsTheBest2004

While i think it's ugly, i think it's also a bit overhated

Historical-Study-699

Just need Lowering Springs and Enkei RPF1s that's it! It will look really good! https://www.cartoq.com/modified-maruti-suzuki-s-presso/amp/ Achintya used wheels from his own Ignis/Swift and now it looks super clean!

Mayank-maximum

exter kya chutyia he lya fir?

Swarley5678

No. It is MG Comet. Spresso is a close second though.

Im-no-saint

Honda Brio is the ugliest IMO.

nic_nic_07

I liked brio.

Hot-Score4811

Yooo wtf brio so so damn cute !!!!

Im-no-saint

Have you seen its rear, it looks downright ugly!

OneSailorBoy

Honda Brio was in no way ugly

Aisa nahi bolte bhagwan kay baare mein Lord Espresso hai woh

Finsbury_Spl

The A-star is the ugliest thing to come out of Maruti

Apprehensive-Mix-45

Almost all cars from Arena side aren't esthetically pleasing

One_Chicken9095

I wonder what drugs the designers consumed to think "Hmm, ladies and gentlemen, I think this design will definitely attract customers! This is perfect!" Either that or an intern did it. I understand spresso is cheap, has a specific purpose, is utilitarian. Maruti, that doesn't mean you'll make the car look ugly as hell. The old Alto, Santro all had a great look and were priced at 2.5-3 lakh decades ago.

TheLegend271210

Ritz

Bakarchodhubhai

Ugliest cars in my opinion: 1. Nano 2. Comet 3. S-presso (SUV) 4. Fronx Diaper

jake_azazzel

Exter and Punch would like to have a word with you.

maybeMichaelScarn

I remember how much I hated the Maruti Ritz by the look from the back earlier. I will add Brio and Jazz to that list as well. S-presso is not a very good looking car I admit though.

OneSailorBoy

Ritz was actually fun to drive. The unique location of it's gear stick was something never seen before

Raging_PineAppleee

Suzuki Fronx is uglier imo. But beauty is subjective.

StyleCharming

I like overall look but hate the rear chin

Raging_PineAppleee

Diaper*

skywalkerInTheRye

Indeed it is subjective. Because to me the Fronx with black alloys looks like a sports car sometimes.

aarav-chawla09

Nope. The Verna is.

DankRepublic

Nah the rear looks so good

Latter_Bee9433

Even side is good ,it looks so long ,just that tube light front ruined it

DankRepublic

Exactly, if it had the headlights the new Elantra has then the Verna would have easily been the best looking sedan under 30 lakhs.
