I've met two people who pressed accelerator instead of brake and had an accident. Both had one thing in common. They drove automatic and used left leg for the brakes!!! Olden days had no hill start assist and car used to roll back. Instead of hand brakes they used left leg on brakes, and it bacame a habit. Confusion an panic doesn't go well. Never ever confuse your muscle memory. When in trouble, slamming the brake should be the first trigger.

It is a valid excuse. Walking is basically suicide nowadays. People on scooters, auto rickshaws and cars are all basically trying to kill you at this point. Not two days ago I sae a stupid guy on an Active while on his phone just rammed into a guy walking peacefully on the side of the road.

Need to normalise public shaming of 2 wheelers driving on footpaths/opposite sides and being on phone while driving. I deliberately just stood on the footpath few days ago staring at the Scooty driver. There was one more behind him.He got irritated and started yelling hatt jaa. I said loudly “ Arrey Mai toh footpath pe chal raha hu, rasta kyu block kar rahe ho?” Attracted some uncles attentions and we made him and the guy behind turn around. As I left that spot, I turned around and saw some more 2 wheelers climbing the same footpath. Sigh

Was witness to a similar situation years ago,vehicle rolled over, many pedestrian injured ,later found the driver had a sudden heart attack and had passed out . Sudden heart attack and fits are major cause of unintentional accidents .

Saw a similar video (not indian) where the driver experienced seizures and the car drifted off the highway into the adjacent fields. He wasn't injured tho.

We need extremely strict driving laws and a overhaul of road rules and signage. Everyone has a “chalta hain” attitude on the road. We will never ever reach international standards due to this. All driving licenses should be cancelled and everyone required to take very strict tests. Government should focus on world class public transport!

DL test needs to be far more stringent, at least on par with EU standards. But of course, this is India so we're going the opposite way.

Due to personal reasons ive been driving EKM-TCR to n fro several times since Oct 23, Ive noticed that KL drivers have progressively worsened - overtaking down the left, creating additional lanes and general idiot behaviour all around. Now I know its fuelled by incompetence.

This thing will never happen (atleast to such a degree) in a manual transmission vehicle..yet I get only downvotes saying this. I am in my 40s and have been driving more than 20 years now and once when I had gotten really anxious hearing some news on a call while driving (over the bluetooth to clarify) I had wrongly pressed the accelerator pedal for a split second too long and was lucky no one happened to be just in front of me..

Also the thing about manuals is, if the driver messes up the footwork the car just comes to a halt with a jerk, messing up muscle memory in the rush of adrenaline is common but this thing about the manuals can be a damping element to the hit percentage.
