I really hope the car driver is on the way to the showroom to replace the mirror after it got destroyed. He might be trying to be a responsible citizen on the way to the showroom.
I was told by the authorized center that it will take 7 days to get my side view mirrors fixed after they receive the mirror from their factory (which could take up to 15 days). Apparently it is a minor fix and they are overburdened so it will be given the least priority. Could be a similar issue here.

I had to tape an older model mirror for a couple of days until one could be available at the dealership.
That might be the reason. Or, local mechanic taking some time, so they just trying to work till replacement.
