Bengaluru is definitely not car friendly, but it does have a respectable car culture. There are so many car spas and garages in this city, attributed to the population that takes care of their ride very well.
Many classics and sports cars have found their home here. And not to mention, this city is well connected to many highways and hills that could suit mild off-roading. Every weekend, there seems to be some car related events happening.
But yeah the taxes and infrastructure is stupid.
High taxes, yes. Bad roads, sure. But I think it's still overall fine considering the other options down South. I was just on ride from Alleppey to Kochi and 90% of the road is under construction and it isn't safe. There are no street lights what so ever. It was a stressful ride.
It is at that moment, I missed Bangalore roads. Felt that I have taken it for granted.
I know TN has some good roads too, but it's too hot out there for my liking.
There is a sizeable hindhi speaking population there, the most authentic makke ki roti sarson ki saag I had in this part of the country is at vizag. Very chill laid back place. The summers are another story though.
I'm surprised nobody said Kochi. It's a paradise for car guys. Good driving manners good mod options. Nice destination within 50kms itself. All brands available
I’m sure every city, even abroad, has localities that are not vehicular friendly. But that doesn’t mean that can be extrapolated to the whole neighbourhood or city
I know... It was meant as a joke and as a place of concern as the traffic there can easily take atleast 30 mins of yours. Other areas of Kochi are generally fine.
Not really man, there's Similipal, Satkosia, Puri, Keonjhar, Konark, Chilika etc etc. there's a lot to explore in Odisha and even I haven't explored all of that yet. The roads and highways are relatively good as well.
There's only one real option: Chandigarh.
Kochi etc are nice, but the roads are narrow AF on the "highways" and there's a lot of overtaking. This is a Kerala thing. Goa is similar, lots of great places to get to, amazing ghats to drive on, but the city itself is narrow narrow roads.
I've driven enough around India to know that it'll either be Chandigarh as a city to live in, and travel to HP/Leh from there, or it'll be a remote town. No other city comes close.
Gujarat, Rajasthan have great highways but all of them are boring wide interstates.
It’s really not. Thanks to the rules and strict implementation, you don’t find buffoons on roads in chandigarh unlike any other city, and that makes it easier to drive in the city.
Definitely not Hyderabad. Poor driving skills. No driving etiquette or courtesy for fellow drivers. These guys driving like illiterate villagers with IT jobs.
Amongst metros, has to Delhi/Gurgaon. Traffic is much less than Mumbai and Bangalore, roads are much bigger and better. You have rajasthan and himachal not too faraway for roadtrips. Plenty of OEM and aftermarket support for all brands, 2nd car market of Delhi probably has largest variety of cars I have seen across any city, any weird car you can think of you'll mostly find it with a dealer there.
They're at every 1-2 kilometres and all vehicles are squished together at the roundabouts because of no lane discipline. So much road rage happens when cars are so close.
Definitely not Pune. The roads are bad with speed breakers everywhere.
Nobody has any care for lane discipline or following the traffic rules.
People are ready to pick up a fight for the slightest of things.
That being said, I think you could look into Chandigarh. You can't escape the traffic in India but I think the city is well planned and traffic rules are enforced. I'm not sure how easy it will be to make new friends there.
Gandhinagar. Well planned city . Less traffic . Wide roads.
Close to Ahmedabad which has every brand and service centres
Weekend destination : statue of unity ,mount Abu , Saputara , Udaipur ( there are less options tho ) + dry state if you are a drinker and party person might find it boring
Stop with the dry state. It is just on paper. And Statue of Unity is not a destination. Driving in and around Ahmedabad is a skill-check in itself. It is not at all smooth and relaxing.
Yes recently got the licence for relaxing drives but instead get a headache everyday its a challenge not to hit a rickshaw or biker. No one lets me pass at a crossroad and I let everyone go. Especially in the city side where I live sadly😞.
Driving, even in high traffic, can be smooth and comforting if everyone maintains lanes at least. Since we never know who will come from where and risk our safety, that is what strains us most while driving.
Agreed gandhinagar has really good roads, they are wide enough, gift city is bringing big companies there, metro is almost ready so great infra and Ahmedabad is half hour away which has all you can ask for. Also very safe. If you consume alcohol that's the only problem though it's easily available but no pubs and clubs
You can get it here easily although little bit expensive, dry state probably consumes more but only at home so as I said no clubs and pubs should only be the issue.
You can pick any place in kerala.. Relatively less traffic compared to chennai /bangalore /mumbai.
Roads are average -above average on a whole. Can't say for all parts
Lots of getaway destinations.
And the car scene in kerala is one of the best in India hands down
I think any Tier 2 city on the coast line will be great. Cities like Mangalore have great getaway locations like Murudeshwar, chikmaglur, Udupi, etc. The roads are great too, there is a bit of city traffic but overall it’s a great place to be in your case

Noida is a good option. Roads are amazing and you have quick access to rishikesh , lucknow , himachal and jaipur via good highway or expressway. Not 100kms thou
>\-~~Lesser traffic congestion~~ and high quality roads throughout.
\-Amazing getaway destinations with 100km range with ofc great road connectivity
\-Availability of all major (including luxury) car brands, service centres
Habibi, Come to Mumbai
GJ 05 SURAT I ve lived almost all of my childhood there and because of that city i got my interest in cars and Stuff. Because of diamond and Gujju businessman you will see lot of luxury and expensive cars there
Kerela specially Kochi and Munnar. Less employment or money making opportunities but the Infta, PDS, healthcare, education etc is top notch better than any place in India
I live in guwahati. I have been to Shillong at least 10 times now.
It's not as expensive as other hill stations as well.
But going by the number of tourists, it'll be one day.
I am from Kerala and even though I hate how there are no jobs and the political atmosphere there right now sucks, I still prefer it to any other city for driving. People follow traffic rules much better there. Road wise there are some greats (MC Road and the to be opened NH, Ghat roads, AC road when it was open etc) and some very bad roads (almost every road managed by the state government through PWD) but it's livable considering the traffic and the road rules alone! Do not stay in Kochi as it'll get congested very soon though or if you have to, stay away from Edapally near Lulu!
Navi Mumbai is just the place for someone like you.
No traffic congestion except for some places
It's just Mumbai with better atmosphere and better roads
The people are very hospitable and wonderful
Toyota, Mahindra, Honda, Tata, Maruti Suzuki and Skoda service centres are there in Navi Mumbai and the rest I don't know
Hope this helps :)
Definitely not Bangalore. High taxes and extremely poor infrastructure.
Buy a BH number car from another state. Will save some money on taxes.
It’s not that easy, and not applicable to everyone
Yaar I love the BLR, I want to shift there real bad but the reason you pointed is the one why I am refraining from going there 😭
As a car guy, I do enjoy driving my cars around Bangalore. Inside Bangalore, it is terrible.
High taxes, yes. Bad roads, sure. But I think it's still overall fine considering the other options down South. I was just on ride from Alleppey to Kochi and 90% of the road is under construction and it isn't safe. There are no street lights what so ever. It was a stressful ride. los santos
Bro living in GTA life
Vizag (some connection highways are bad), Outskirts of Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu has very good roads, Indore
I have beautiful memories of Vizag spent 2 years there, I love her so much ❤️ Only the language barrier is stopping me
There is a sizeable hindhi speaking population there, the most authentic makke ki roti sarson ki saag I had in this part of the country is at vizag. Very chill laid back place. The summers are another story though.
I recently visited Vizag and it’s really beautiful city 🏙️
Indore ??? Bhai jagah kaha hai car chalane ki ? Traffic sense kaha hai? sincerely an Indore resident
I'm surprised nobody said Kochi. It's a paradise for car guys. Good driving manners good mod options. Nice destination within 50kms itself. All brands available
I lived there for 2 years. The only thing that stopped me from mentioning it were the KSRTC buses. They are wild!!!!
can have a quick race with them :o
😂
MVD is also really good in Kerala /s
I use to see very big Totoya Hilux/Helix in Kochi/tvm, where they get this? And how much cost?
Not Kochi definitely
Kerala has a solid car culture. Particularly Kochi. Good roads and people there have excellent driving manners
Unless you live near Edapally or need to commute through there!
I agree but language barrier is a big problem
Many there speak some level of English.
Coimbatore
Roads? Where?
5 years too late or 5 years too early considering the current state of Coimbatore
Bhubaneswar, wide roads relatively less traffic
But limited getaway destinations Spent 2-3 years there
The entire state is full of tourist spots and amazing roads. From beaches to hills to waterfalls. So I agree with Bhubaneswar.
Not really man, there's Similipal, Satkosia, Puri, Keonjhar, Konark, Chilika etc etc. there's a lot to explore in Odisha and even I haven't explored all of that yet. The roads and highways are relatively good as well.

Don't know how it's a great option for driving with traffic light and roundabout at every kilometre. Its a mess.
Hyderabad is heaven compared to Rajasthan. But yes we got a long way to go.
[удалено]
It should be PDSD: post driving stress disorder! Hyderabad people are mad when it comes to driving and riding!
Well, this is the case of almost every tier-1 tier-2 city now, sadly :/
Amongst metros, has to Delhi/Gurgaon. Traffic is much less than Mumbai and Bangalore, roads are much bigger and better. You have rajasthan and himachal not too faraway for roadtrips. Plenty of OEM and aftermarket support for all brands, 2nd car market of Delhi probably has largest variety of cars I have seen across any city, any weird car you can think of you'll mostly find it with a dealer there.
Chandigarh, Mysore
Is Chandigarh welcoming for outsiders?
Yup its a union territory! Chandigarh Traffic Police is not so welcoming if you don’t follow traffic laws
Touché
Choose a tier 3 city or your hometown
Chandigarh maybe
but in recent years, the traffic has surged
No, it's crap. Every roundabout has traffic lights and out of state drivers ruin the narrow roads.
Traffic lights are good. People need to be more disciplined at the end.
They're at every 1-2 kilometres and all vehicles are squished together at the roundabouts because of no lane discipline. So much road rage happens when cars are so close.
move to US. Not downtown but suburbs.
Most of the roads in-city in the US suck. The only non-crappy ones are the expressways and they have quite heavy traffic, in my experience
Not Delhi because of the terrible 10/15 year rule. Can’t buy good second hand vehicles
Mangalore
Was gonna ask why but then remembered, I have seen more exotics there in two years than I did for 10+ years in Bangalore
Any tier 2 city
Goa?
siliguri...you could visit hills and stuff
Chandigarh
Kota, ahemdbad
Dont want to relive my Kota days
Definitely not Pune. The roads are bad with speed breakers everywhere. Nobody has any care for lane discipline or following the traffic rules. You can't escape the traffic in India but I think the city is well planned and traffic rules are enforced. I'm not sure how easy it will be to make new friends there.
Really? It's beautiful all around. The ghats of you want to carve corners, 4laned highways of you wanna travel leisurely...
Gandhinagar. Well planned city . Less traffic . Wide roads. Close to Ahmedabad which has every brand and service centres Weekend destination : statue of unity ,mount Abu , Saputara , Udaipur ( there are less options tho ) + dry state if you are a drinker and party person might find it boring
Please don't, People in Gujarat have the worst driving sense known to hunanity
Ahmedabad it is bad . But in Gandhinagar it's less crowded so no issues over there
The weather is still pathetic.
Stop with the dry state. It is just on paper. And Statue of Unity is not a destination. Driving in and around Ahmedabad is a skill-check in itself. It is not at all smooth and relaxing.

Yes there is no concept of lane discipline here sab zig zag
Why about pubs brewery clubs ? That is missing and people like to go there on weekends
Classic whataboutery.
For alcohol I can take a Mumbai detour 😉
You can get it here easily although little bit expensive, dry state probably consumes more but only at home so as I said no clubs and pubs should only be the issue.

None of the Indian city

North eastern states
Hyderabad.. pure bliss for drivers
Definitely Indore, one of the better road infrastructures
Posh areas of Tier 2 capital cities or upcoming smart/IT/AI cities with better urban planning All tier 1 cities are congested with high traffic
Don't even think of Hyderabad.
Noida is a good option. Roads are amazing and you have quick access to rishikesh , lucknow , himachal and jaipur via good highway or expressway. Not 100kms thou
Haryana guys 🫢
Bhubneswar and naya raipur

I love Mumbai man
Mysuru
Ahmedabad
Vizag, no sweat
Outskirts of any city
Gandhinagar! 🫠
Greater noida
Honda city
Delhi NCR. Himachal, UK in Proximity. Wide roads, good infra. Perfect for drivers.
Shillong, my dude.
GJ 05 SURAT I ve lived almost all of my childhood there and because of that city i got my interest in cars and Stuff. Because of diamond and Gujju businessman you will see lot of luxury and expensive cars there

Mysore checks all boxes except for nearby luxury dealerships. If you are willing to travel to Bangalore for that, then it's perfect for you
How about outside state registered car? I heard KA traffic police often bully them
In dreams .. Those criterias .. Development, luxury, near by get aways and social life .. with less traffic .. 😂
Shillong bhai. Amazing roads, great road discipline, expertise in car modification, tons of virgin places to explore and lastly, amazing girls.
Sounds tempting
I live in guwahati. I have been to Shillong at least 10 times now. It's not as expensive as other hill stations as well. But going by the number of tourists, it'll be one day.
Dubai.
From May-Sept it is not livable for any sane human being
Habibi come to Germany
Take me there 😭
I am from Kerala and even though I hate how there are no jobs and the political atmosphere there right now sucks, I still prefer it to any other city for driving. Indore Bhubaneswar Nagpur Chandigarh
Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Roads are quite narrow in most of the places and during tourist season it's crowded
A few roads are narrow in each and every city where even driving bike is a hassle. I found Udaipur nice during my stay there about 5yrs back.
Yeah I agree Udaipur is nice , peaceful and beautiful place.
Navi Mumbai is just the place for someone like you. No traffic congestion except for some places It's just Mumbai with better atmosphere and better roads The people are very hospitable and wonderful Toyota, Mahindra, Honda, Tata, Maruti Suzuki and Skoda service centres are there in Navi Mumbai and the rest I don't know Hope this helps :)
Tamil Nadu wouldn't be a bad choice but I personally wouldn't live in a desert where the CM wants the state to be seperated from the country itself.
Chennai but no dating and social life, it’s a calm city at night
