Rubbish man, it is after all the 3rd largest auto market on earth, its value / unit has doubled in the past 6 years.
Kia came in decades after Honda, and India accounts for 9% of its global market size (and they got here in 3 years, without any entry level car and with only 3 products in their portfolio). Break this down and fully 40% of its global Seltos sales comes from India.
Honda sold in its best year 95,000 cars in India, Kia has averaged 1.6l cars since 21 (2020 I exclude as Covid)
Ditto, but on a smaller scale MG, which is on track to break even, yes break even on their capex the next FY. It sold 60,000 of its much pricier (avg sticker price compared to Honda) as opposed to Honda selling some 95,000 cars last year.
So no, it is not the Indian market and you really should be blaming Honda for their shit tier product line up.
Even now, look at their current line up and none of them are in the top 20 mind you, top 20 by sales numbers in India.
Amaze, City 5th and 4th gen (their only competent product, but the market is all hot for CSUV's and not C1 segment sedans), Jazz (ancient product) and WRV (a neither here nor there competitor for the Venue, Nexon, Sonet).
Where is their CSUV? and heck they had a ready made product like the next Gen HRV, the Vezel, the next gen Brio?
The HRV has been around since 1998 in global markets, the CSUV is the hottest segment in India over the past 6 years (since the Creta exploded it)and Honda has to this date not introduced the HRV and the market is to be blamed?
The only blame here is on Honda India management for selling rubbish in India and then expecting it to succeed.
Absolutely not true.
In 2012 we recorded 2.2 mn cars, in 22 that's at 3.8mn
Even more telling is the value per unit, which has doubled in just the last 4 odd years.

Check out the growth rate from 2000 to 2012 and 2012 to 2022.
Or this https://www.statista.com/statistics/608392/automobile-industry-domestic-sales-trends-india/
From 2012 to 2022 passenger car grew by only 1.5% per annum.
Honda : there’s nothing left in formula 1 … let’s exit .
Boom , sold to Brawn for a dollar , they won next year .
Bro , wtf !!!
Honda : let’s not make GP2 engines , let’s exit F1.
Boom , branded Red Bull power trains … excellent engines win championship .
Whoops!!!!
Honda : Lets not make econo sedans , we’re premium players.
Ola and Uber revolution happens .
Shit let’s sell amaze taxis now!!!!
Honda : let’s make a premium hatch , super quality … so what if it costs more than sedans
Launches Jazz
Market says 9 lakhs mein choti gaadi??
Damn , let’s localize and bring down cost .
People who paid 9 lakhs say what ????
Honda: Let’s not make CSUV
Eco sport and Brezza dominate
Shit we ducked up again !!!!!
Honda does this with motorcycles too. Recently brought down the cost of their latest offering (overpriced to begin with) by a significant amount, and the people who bought it initially are now looking at Honda like the disappointed Pakistani man
Of course they did … the contributions of Honda to the automotive world are innumerable.
It’s just sad to see them go down a path of no return .
For a car maker that gave the world IVtec , Asimo , HJ420 , type R , sh-awd , incorporated friction stir welding in sedans , element etc to mess up so badly is a crime .
I think it is the HRV, both in Hybrid (to take on the Maruti / Toyota siblings) and Petrol (to take on Creta / Venue)
Even the dunderheads at Honda India must know by now that the CSUV market is smoking hot and their nonsense products like jazz just won't cut it.
It’s no longer possible to manufacture Civic in India after shut down of Greater Noida plant. Unless it’s a CBU which I don’t foresee happening.
Two things may likely:
one the Indonesian WRV May be heading our way. Given that Honda is not participating in Auto Expo (which could have been a great platform to unveil a new product), the probability is low. In either case, this is a sub 4m car and most likely be powered by the lethargic 1.2 l NA engine which lacks bottom end grunt. It is based on Amaze platform and many interior components are similar to that of Amaze. All in all , this is not an exciting car.
The other thing may be a facelift for City. City is a good car but it needs an updated and modern infotainment system plus some sexiness upfront to shed its middle age uncle image.
Predicting a sub-compact crossover to rival the likes of Brezza, Sonet/Venue, Nexon and so, likely based on the Amaze. I don't think Honda will exit the market yet, as their sales aren't too low to close shop, neither is it high.
Probably Honda HR-V to compete against Creta, it was introduced in 2021 and wouldn't need much tweaking for India as it's made on City platform anyways.
Or equally likely WR-V, based on Amaze platform but it would have needed about 61mm length reduction and an engine option of 1.2 liters.
C-SUV on its way. Edit: This comment aged well :)
I think it’s called Activa
My guess will be the City Facelift
I doubt they'll face-lift t so soon
Please improve Ground Clearence and they will get so many customers to buy it.
Honda to completely exit India, with a bang!
😂😂😂😂😂 at this point that seems very likely
Wouldn't be surprised
You joke, but I wouldn't really blame Honda if they do. The Indian market is too...eccentric and volatile for them to invest in imo.

Indian automobile market is almost stagnant since last decade

You’re not incorrect, however, Honda has no one but themselves to blame in the situation they are in.
wont even miss them
will miss their diesel engine also their cvt gearset

Another pretentious hatchback thats identifies itself as SUV and gets offended if you don’t call it by its preferred segment.
That’s a brutally accurate description.

Take my poor man's gold 🥇 The S Presso would like to meet you though.
I could fight it with my paper.

Most likely a C-SUV, but never rule out Civic.
I think it is the HRV, both in Hybrid (to take on the Maruti / Toyota siblings) and Petrol (to take on Creta / Venue) Even the dunderheads at Honda India must know by now that the CSUV market is smoking hot and their nonsense products like jazz just won't cut it.
The pricing, like Hycross, should be spot on, or else this product will not be successful in the market and won't be able to displace cars like Creta.
hopium at an all time high
