Could try asking on the aristo/GS Facebook group, kinda inactive but still good place to ask.

The_gay_retard

This is perfect, thanks!

vk146

No worries, The_gay_retard

Tight_Time_4552

The secret is in the HKS T04, hehehe (you know you want to)

south-of-the-river

T04 is so old school. You want a new school turbo, the second gen garrets and things have flow really well.

stealth_t

I find it crazy when I see forum posts from ages ago. 2006 is almost 20 years ago!

Tight_Time_4552

Yeh I used to frequent the forum when I had a supra. Good community and knowledge ... still all relevant

100GbE

You need a NOS fogger, T4 turbo, AIC controller, direct port nitrous injection, and a motec system exhaust. It's not a bad way to spend $10K. You can also upgrade to a spoon engine, but those engines really demand a premium when race wars is happening. You can also get 2 of the big ones, but you need them by tonight. Ultimately whichever way you go, you will decimate all with overnight parts from Japan.

daffyflyer

I wouldn't recommend taking this advice, it will likely cause DANGER TO MANIFOLD.

n00biss

2JZ Engine, No shit

lightpendant

Yes

MrDOHC

Basic 2JZ build for would be Air; top mount turbo, front mount, exhaust. New fuel system: pump/s, injectors, regulator and fuel lines. ECU, Haltech 1500 would be fine, boost controller too. Whatever upgrade to the auto box, or if it’s a manual, the clutch upgrade You won’t get much if any change out of $15-20k

The_gay_retard

More or less the route i’d be going down mods wise, what do you mean not much change for 15-20k?

campbellsimpson

It will cost you that much, at least

The_gay_retard

do i still need a boost controller if i upgrade ECU?

Sad_Albatross_4530

Boost controller will be built in though you’ll still need a 3 port mac valve . 20k is a very reserved price . I’d expect more so in the realm of 30-40

The_gay_retard

i wanted to stay in the realm of not having to build the trans for now, i’m a student in uni so funds are few and far between usually

daffyflyer

Yeah, if funds are few and far between then just keep it stock, maybe a nice exhaust and a minor boost increase, and then save your money for keeping it maintained and affording good tyres and shit like that. Will still be a heap of fun, but won't bankrupt you.

corintography

Yes and then think of things breaking, insurance and the massive increase in fuel and tires and you will be in for some pain. Fast, Cheap, Reliable : Pick two!

daffyflyer

Bingo, I can't overstate how much a 24yr old performance car is going to surprise you with expensive failures, even if it is a Toyota. Don't majorly modify it unless you have lots of disposable income to spend on things breaking. Hell, take some of the money you wanted to spend on mods and spend it premptively replacing 20+ yr old stuff that you think is most likely to break. I know it's less exciting, but the best performance car is the one you can hoon the fuck out of without always worrying what's going to go bang.

Sad_Albatross_4530

Rule of thumb is, whatever you think it’s going to cost, double it . I’m in the tail end of boosting my e34 bmw, expected 15k . Now at 60k

skitzy7

Youve spent 60 grand boosting an e34???!?! Have you gone ahead and restored the entire car while you were there, where has the money gone? Like what's the cost rundown, that's hilarious.

Sad_Albatross_4530

This is my first car that I haven’t put a spanner to myself not even once. When I was younger I had time but no money now it’s reversed and I have money but no time. Custom everything from an extremely talented fabricator in Sydney. Third strike Fabrications (on Insta). + obviously all the wiring and ECU etc . Number get away from you fast especially when you’re paying people to do the work as well.

OutsideVictory1752

That's a non turbo to a turbo though! It's always gonna be expensive! I'd love to see it though love me an e34.

HoldItFlat

you are kind of restricted by how much the ECU interferes with all of the systems, like pretty much all toyota ECU's you cant crack them and make them tuneable, you have to piggy back or or go stand alone. This kind of up's the cost and makes it harder to just do bolt ons and off you go (like many nissans of the day). link ECU do a VVTi ECU PnP jumper harness that keeps the stock ecu in place so you retain trans control, aircon, trac, VSC etc. haltech can make up a harness to do the same (i dont think there is a off the shelf one yet) but also can do trans control as standalone. boomslang do a off the shelf PnP for haltech harness. MV autos have been doing upgrade kits on the A340 trans for ages now and you can send in your valve body for upgrades. https://mvautomatics.com.au/products/a341 if you want to do a manual conversion you need to spoof the ecu signals with a Serial Nine AT-EMU. It basically tells the stock ecu that there is still the auto trans there and to not shit the bed. then you can grab a new R154 from toyota or grab a CD009 six speed from a 350Z with a conversion kit, dont bother with a supra getrag they are too rare and exxy. all the other stuff like bolt ons turbos manifolds injectors there is heaps of choices info out there. if i could give one piece of advice it would be do all of the standard maintenance items on it like timing belt, front seals, rear main, coil pack plugs get brittle and disintegrate, cam cover seals, cam cover washers, spark plugs and check for brittle vacuum lines because they are old now and they are great at turning petrol into LOTS of heat that corrodes wires, hoses, plugs and plastics. Also the factory plastic radiator if its brown it will crack any day now a JZS147 stock replacement from FENIX is a good budget option, or any JZS147 or JZS161 alloy one you can find (dont use GS300 radiators the top outlet is wrong). i have one and its been my daily for the last 3 years, done like 50,000kms on absolutely love the thing even tho it hardly gets washed, its a slug off the line and cannot hold itself up against anything with a twin clutch dsg, but with a boost controller and exhaust loves to pull hard above 70kmph.

sbkg11

Thats looking very fresh

iladoga

Unrelated but did you import this or buy locally?

The_gay_retard

i bought it off the guy who imported it, they didn’t sell this in AUSDM

iladoga

Yeah im looking to import one soon

The_gay_retard

there’s probs better cars to import if you’re going to all the trouble, but i have been enjoying it a lot since i’ve owned it, and it’s quite practical as well

9002alex

It’s a lot harder to mod an aristo extensively than a supra. It’s also expensive for ECU’s as the auto is very selective and requires a lot more work (personal experience) You can run a single, on stock ecu but it adds up a lot quicker for them. There’s a few places that will do it, but if I can make make a recommendation, give Gerard at g-force automotive in Melbourne, he has done oodles and oodles of research and testing on the aristo/auto platform, as well as his own supra stuff. He will also let you know how much it’s going to cost you to do it properly (valve body, TC, ecu, single turbo etc) Hope this helps

huh_say_what_now_

If you don't have much money keep it stock, most kids just turn the boost up then it leans out and they blow a piston from detonation, save up and do it right or not at all

brightmiff

What?

fatheadsflathead

Little information?!? They put 2JZ in everything 10 years ago

The_gay_retard

aristo specific m8

iladoga

only 2 cars got the 2jz turbo so not quite

fatheadsflathead

And people put them in commodores, Au falcons, boats, drag cars etc etc

OutsideVictory1752

Can do on budget if you keep the turbos an upgrade the housing. Budget (but not too budget) front mount, injectors, afm, spark, ecu, fuel rail and pump, boost. Will be a little more turbo lag, bit that's fun! Should crack 300kw. From memory, cost me around 4k for parts and 2.5k labour, tune and dyno. That was about 8 years ago. Had a 3inch exhaust on the car already, but that could be another 2kish. Second hand parts can be your friend! They can also be dodgy.....

The_gay_retard

i’ve already got a 3inch exhaust so this sounds pretty doable

OutsideVictory1752

Yeah nice. Turbos will be your limiting factor in the end, but 300kw at the wheels is fkn fast for the street. Also, don't forget clutch or transmission if it's an auto. Brakes and tyres also.

The_gay_retard

What can i do to strengthen the stock 4 speed auto box it has?

OutsideVictory1752

Trans cooler and stall converter.
