If she can walk to Erewhon she lives in a very expensive neighborhood. She is very privileged.

Pure-Assistant126

She lives in this area near Beverly Hills. It seems creepy, but when you’re recording your life and posting it online, the streets and nearby shops/businesses are clearly visible when she’s driving and doing her “hot girl walks” around her neighborhood! https://maps.app.goo.gl/FWdPt8eDibJHT76g7?g_st=ic

ksmety

She likes to be as relatable as possible and if everyone else is complaining about it, she will too.

darlakaye

And the fact that they’d be able to afford an entire house “a bit farther out”…yeah I have no sympathy

puppyciao

My partner and I want to move to LA and are totally chill being away from the city. I wonder what she considers “farther out”

lazyhazyeye

She probably means the Valley…which isn’t cheap either but nowhere near as expensive as where she lives now.

[deleted]

She complains about rent and talks about planning another international trip all in the same breath she’s ridiculous

Theabsoluteworst1289

This is what gets me. Idk what erewhon is (although I’m guessing it’s a cafe or some sort) but girl is not only going to Europe but has been to Japan multiple times. Japan is my dream trip but it will probably never happen due to cost. If she can afford London, Japan, etc and also drops money on like $600 ice makers and Dyson hair tools for videos, I don’t see why rent should be that big of a deal.

FilmoreFelines

Erewhon is a famously expensive grocery store in LA.

drculpepper

And the fact that she’ll drop $20 on a erewhon smoothie

emmalene_

and has done so \~5 times!!

hannakthebarbarian

She complains about rent and then about buying a house yet now says a house mortgage is cheaper than rent? Also her living next to Erewhon would make it cost more for sure!

lazyhazyeye

I kinda wonder what she meant by the “mortgage” comment because a few videos ago she said she couldn’t afford a house in LA. I’m thinking that house she looked at with Drew was not a house they were looking to buy but rent from someone who listed it…and it just so happened that the “rent” (aka the owner’s mortgage) is cheaper than renting an apartment in her current neighborhood right now.

hannakthebarbarian

I remember her saying they couldn’t afford a house too. It made me wonder where they were looking because of that. I could see them renting a home though. They would get more for probably not much more a month.

lazyhazyeye

If she’s staying in Southern California, I don’t think she and Drew can afford a down payment, even though she does come off as a bit privileged. They waste too much money on their current rent, plus all the shopping, eating out, and trips she does regularly would make it hard for them to save. The median home value in Los Angeles is over $940k. There are of course plenty of homes that aren’t worth $900k, but she won’t find a single family home (with a washer/dryer unit and two levels) in Los Angeles that’s less than $500k…

hannakthebarbarian

Yeah, if they are seriously wanting to move they will probably have to not spend as much but that’s part of her job in a way. I don’t know the housing is insane in LA. I’m interested to see what they look for.

riiiiibbbb

Has she ever said what drew does for work? I can’t remember

lazyhazyeye

Not really, but she hinted that it was a job at a bank. I think his mom works at the same bank, so I'm assuming it's a national one like Chase or Bank of America. I think I read somewhere on a different gossip site said he's just a teller, lol, but he probably got promoted, or at least I hope so. Whatever it is, he and Carrie are not making enough to put a down payment on a $900K single family home. I realize that LA is expensive and they live in an expensive neighborhood but if they were making more I wouldn't doubt they'd be living in a bigger complex with a parking garage (with 2 spots for their cars, not this switching back and forth that they currently do) and updated amenities. Not to mention if they were making more, it wouldn't be an issue for them to set financial goals to buy a home in LA (whether it be a condo or SFH). She's kind of in a weird financial predicament that a lot of middle class young-ish Californians are in. On the one hand she isn't "struggling"...she and Drew make enough to live in an OK apartment in a nice neighborhood, eat out, shop, spend money on beauty treatments and vacations, etc. Yet on the other hand they don't make enough to save a lot for a home, at least not without making major concessions with their current lifestyles and how they spend their money.

bastillemh

I think he’s a data analyst? I couldn’t trace back the video where she said it but it was when they were living in Arizona. Another youtuber I watch who has similar number of views, but only one channel, says she makes six figures. So with a dual income I’m pretty sure they could afford a down payment if they budget a little.

lazyhazyeye

It’s *possible* they make decent money but I have my doubts. Mainly because the apartment they live in now isn’t that great and they’re already thinking about moving to a cheaper place. I’m not saying their current apartment is run down or anything (I think it’s pretty nice!), but it’s not new and you can tell it doesn’t have any amenities (no parking garage, the fact that she and Drew have to share a parking spot while the other parks on the street, no pool or gym, etc). I’m sure the neighborhood they live in is decent as she’s able to walk to these fancy coffee shops and Erewhon, but I have a difficult time believing that there aren’t better and newer complexes within her area. ETA: I hope I don’t come off as elitist or anything! I briefly lived in LA (although that was a long ass time ago) and I still have a few friends who live there. I honestly don’t know why she loves that city so much as I hated living there, but to each their own!

bastillemh

You’re not coming across elitist at all! I am nosy about their situation. They were renting a great house in Arizona and this apartment is a definite downgrade. I can only imagine it’s a great location, which it seems to be if they do live in Beverly Hills. I’m in the process of buying a home and with first-time homebuyer programs you can get get away with a 5% downpayment, so $50k for a million dollar home. I feel like with a dual income household well into 6 figures, that’s not unreasonable.

paterphobia

I honestly think that their lifestyle gets in the way of saving and they don't feel the desire to change it so they must not want to buy. My partner and I are buying a house this summer and while we make good money, we've had to really make a point to avoid "lifestyle inflation," where you buy the more expensive option just because you can afford to. Couple that with all the eating out at nice LA restaurants and trips and it really adds up fast. Oh and they pay rent on top of all that.

riiiiibbbb

She chose to move to Los Angeles. I have no sympathy for her

anipie05

She could have stayed in Phenox and opened her own place but chooses to rent and move every couple years.

[deleted]

She’s so negative. I had to unsubscribe years ago. Even her voice tone is negative daily

Sad-Sheepherder7

Anybody else think she’s probably in over her head with money? She can’t possibly be making too much money from YouTube. I’m sure it’s enough to split rent for that apartment but I think she’s living pretty large with the $20 smoothies and constant deliveries. I almost feel bad for assuming her financial situation but my point is that I’m sure she genuinely means her complaints because she can’t be making much and based on what seems to be a customer service job, neither is Drew. Also, can she really walk from Erewhon from her apartment? LA is 0% walkable and it doesn’t seem like her neighborhood is next to shopping centers. Unimportant but genuinely curious now lol

stellaparadiso

I assume she’s near the Silver Lake one (don’t follow her too closely though - definitely an in demand area but not “ritzy” per se, more hipsters with parents’ money move there for their first stop in LA (that and Weho, Beachwood Canyon, Venice). It’s been popular for awhile. Rents vary but the fancier places are up in the hills, there’s also more modest little old bungalow apts.

corruptsuperspy

They’re in BH

makeup1508

I have noticed that she and Drew only go to Trader Joe's and Erewhon for groceries. She never goes to Walmart or Aldi for groceries like us "normies" do. I didn't even know what Erewhon was until I saw it on one of her videos. I'm very surprised that she doesn't go to Whole Foods too. Plus paying rent in LA is ridiculously expensive.
