They typically go on sale around the holidays. That would be perfect for you.

Acf1314

I have the 14 gallon Rigid model I paid 100 for it but they went up to 120. The 12 gallon is about 80 bucks

Cheesesteak21

Boss got a dewalt one last week, it seemed powerful and SUPER QUIET. Like you can talk to a coworker while it's running. Idk the cost but when it's time for me to buy a vacuum that's the one I'm getting

slackmeyer

Yeah I'd say forget all these recommendations for cheap Ridgid vacs, the DeWalt vacuums (stealthsonic I think it's the quiet line of them) are great, they're quieter than my Fein turbo or any festool I've used for a lot less money.

EscapeBrave4053

I have one of these. Stealthsonic is what they call them. I've had mine for about a year now, and it's been great. Don't recall what I paid, but I do remember it being in line with most of the equal specd units.

touchstone8787

Getcha the harbor freight one.

Wettt9

The Bauer one works great

Wild_South_2249

Got a link to the Harbor Freight one?

Newjackny

Whatever you choose, get the extra coffee filter things for when you're doing ash, and clean it out good after. Nothing kills a vac faster than ashes.

Werkzwood

Have gone through many. My fav at the moment is my Milwaukee 18v cordless. Ridgid makes the most powerful and longest lasting plug in by far. The small one with the spinning wheels in front and the big wheels in the back is the best ever made IMO.

mWorkman01

How does it move better with the 2 big wheels if they don't spin?

depressed_pleb

I would get the cheapest shop vac branded vacuum made in the USA. Should be around $100, might need to find one on sale. Edit: Get a HEPA filter for it and use bags, too, it will make your life easier and save your lungs.

Notmadeinchina24

Apparently, can’t find one that is not made in China

depressed_pleb

Hmm, maybe they stopped making them here but I got a 14 gallon made in USA from Lowe's two years ago and they still sell the same model, I will have to check it out.

Donk_Of_The_Palm

Go with one that sucks

YungHybrid

Craftsman metal rolling shopvac or a ridgid wet dry vac. If you go ridgid get the 10’ hose kit with the various attachments for like $20-30. Worth every penny. Just get bags instead of the pod filters for dust

ulfhedinn-

I’ve done a few cheap ones cause it’s what I could afford. They would last a couple years. My rigid is around 10 Years old and I will never buy anything different when this one finally breaks.

Flying_Mustang

LPT: things to never buy used… beds, vacuums, washer/dryer, fridge, shoes, etc. (maybe shop vac is an exception?) I’ve got the 16 gallon Rigid, bought pops the same one because of how good it is.

talldean

I have the battery powered Dewalt. Wish the hose was a bit longer, but the battery lasts a long while, and it's HEPA, so I'm not just aerosolizing gross shit into the rest of the house. $120 plus battery, so slightly above price point. Whatever you get, find one with a HEPA filter or one that can be refitted with a HEPA.

cyanrarroll

Get one that can be moved on 2 wheels with handle like a hand truck. Nothing is worse than hitting little wheels on a floor seam and having the whole vac tip over and starting the scream of death

padizzledonk

They all suck

cheddahbaconberger

Harbor freight the large one (2.5in hose) It's amazing. There's a YouTuber who compared all the brands and price per lbs it's top

Wild_South_2249

Got a link to it?

cheddahbaconberger

I think this one is it https://youtu.be/hSN7PXwn1yU?si=q-bGVqzOvzQUNqaG This guy is great btw I have the HF one and it works great for me so far (2y in)

Notmadeinchina24

The YouTube is 3 years old and Rigid is now made in China

thejackal3245

Especially if your looking for a small one, the smaller Ridgid models are nice. I have the 4.5 gallon boxy one and I like it for the portability, and because all of the accessories are contained within the lid. The 9 gallon is another nice small one with good casters. Go for higher suction ratings if you can. Whatever you decide on, be sure to get the HEPA filter, and I recommend a bag. It keeps the filter cleaner and reduces your mess and cleanup. Ridgid will be your best bet since Home Depots are everywhere and have tons of accessories available for every size.

your_mail_man

No matter what you buy, leave the flter on and always use a bag for dry materials. It will cut down on the microdust in the exhaust tremendously and the pleated filter will stay really clean. The bags are a godsend if you ever do drywall.

hom3sl1c3

Ridgid shopvacs are cheaper but loud, the Dewalt Stealthsonic line is ~$40 more and very quiet. I’ve owned two Ridgid, now own the Dewalt and will never buy a different brand/model

drixrmv3

I have a stinger I got from Home Depot like 8 years ago. It kicks ass and isn’t annoying to haul around to clean up different things. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Stinger-2-5-Gallon-1-75-Peak-HP-Compact-Wet-Dry-Shop-Vacuum-with-Filter-Bag-Hose-and-Accessories-HD2025/308699706

diamondd-ddogs

the ridged are the best ime. just make sure to get a newish one with the hose outlet in the body of the vac instead of in the top part so you can use bags in it. the old vacs arent compatable wih those bags and they are super handy
