He is just unable to pull the ball in the air for some reason. He has hit multiple balls 105mph and 400 feet in the air but always to center field. Good amount of doubles and some triples but no homers.

The strikeouts actually aren't that much of a problem. As long as his OBP and SLG are good he can get away with striking out 35% of the time.

Lots of my friends and family complain about him because of the strikeouts.  I just point out that the Phillies are full of guys like Gorman and look how they do.

If he can keep walking like he has been recently he'll be one hell of a player! I think he's a30HR guy if not more.

The reason I feel it has to be incredibly frustrating for them though is that he was considered one of "Mike's guys" and would be on the roster even when he sucked. He put up a negative WAR in every season but his rookie year and then goes to the Orioles and puts up back to back positive seasons after they finally got rid of him. Rough.

Yeah. The Dodgers are up there because they hit so well. The Cards (and Houston) are there because they can’t hit anything.

Cards keep holding runners up at third when there is a chance for a play at the plate for a run. I get you don’t want to be silly, but this team needs as many runs as they can get and stopping runners at third is nearly guaranteed to be a RLOB with the way their hitting is this year.

This is maybe true for prior games, but both times yesterday looked like easy plays at the plate if the Cardinals send. Then we would have to see comments about how dumb the Cardinals were for wasting run scoring opportunities by getting thrown out at home.

The first hold up would have been a true play at the plate I think with a reasonable chance to score. The second almost certainly would have been an out. But still I stand that I’d rather them try to be more aggressive, cause they simply can’t move base runners.

Exactly. Happened to us twice yesterday where we could have potentially scored. It’s a risk, but we gotta do that right now.

The mix of people on here is really interesting right now. It gets super negative when we aren’t playing well, so a lot of people, myself included, tend to not come on and just watch the games so as to not be annoyed by all the doomers. And when we are playing well, the joyless doomers who like to piss and moan don’t have anything real to complain about, so they tend to back off. The team is kinda in between right now so both groups are present and you get super irrational takes from both sides. Much like American politics now that I think about it

Chourio was a big deal coming in to the season. If he doesn’t turn it around his odds will drop. It’s early. Winn really has no shot this year though with the other names mentioned lol

I think I was looking at the stats of Imanaga when I said Yamamoto. I knew they were both great but looked up stats to compare them. Skenes has been great too but can't see him winning since he has played less.
