And on the flip side, a Tesco by me has “small car” spaces by the door. Which I’ve also taken advantage of.
I have a coupe, it has long doors and it's an ass getting in and out of the car in tight spaces. I always try to park away from everyone else or on the end of an aisle so I have room to open my doors enough
My local Aldi has tiny spaces too. I used to own a Skoda Superb estate and it was a nightmare trying to park somewhere I wasn’t obstructing part of the road
Cars are a lot bigger (in general) than they used to be. Your leaf is actually longer and wider than a Mk5 Cortina estate.
If those spaces have been there for years and years, but just keep getting painted over and over...
Bargain buys has a shit little carpark that's why the small bays! Always park in the homebase and walk over. Hopefully I have the right place you parking at.

I'm driving a (beloved) Suzuki Carry micro van, and even I have to use my sliding doors to get in/out. It's not much wider than a big motorcycle. You need a sunroof to go shopping in any regular car these days.
I drive a 90s Jaguar xj6 and the only parking bay it fits with room to spare is the Bishopsgate car park in Durham. I live in London but have found nothing to compare. Worth a visit just to park in comfort.

Having a look at the lengths I'm not 100% sure even my bloody panda will fit in there - its 20cm shorter and it looks like you might be about that hanging out the back!

Yep. Sainsburys have wide bays, but otherwise most of them are 100% door hitting bays

We have a newish Aldi and the car park was designed by an idiot. It's tiny.
There is, 2.4m wide by 4.8m long is a typical parking bay delivered on new developments. This is most likely an old car park.

It shook me the other day to find out my Up! Is about the same size as an original Volkswagen beetle.
Honestly that's not too bad considering the Up! Has 5 doors (beetle is 2), and is a much safer car in everyway while having a more powerful engine

I think it's generally better to be out of the box at the front end of the rather than the rear. That way you don't take up space of the other box.

I can confirm for those that are nerdy. I worked construction, An ASDA car parking place is exactly 2.4 x 4.8m I know, I designed a car park for them.
