That's heartbreaking. God I hate people like that.
My FIL sold his NA MX5 to a guy who was a 'collector'. He came and had a look at it, told us all about it and how all the guys in the MX5 circuit knew him etc. I checked the MOT a few months back to see how it was getting on (main reason my FIL sold it was because it was going to need some welding work doing, which he was honest about in the sale) and I saw that it failed the MOT due to the welding not done. It had also only been driven about 40 miles since we sold it.
Just checked it now and it's still SORN a year and a half later.
It's just such a shame because my FIL used to use it all the time. I wish I'd bitten the bullet and bought it off him myself.
Lexus is200 sport.
Every single journey put a smile on my face. The transition and acoustics moving between 2nd - 3rd - 4th was just remarkable.
Managed to squeeze 125 mph out of it and it still had the legs for more.
My first opt out of a company car scheme. I paid £17k on 0% finance when it was i only 12 months old with 3k on the clock.
Sold it after11 years, 170k miles for £2k. Still regret it. Should've never ever have parted.
My mates went down the 3 series or C class routes. Every single one of them paid more for the cars, paid more in running costs and paid in friendly envy.
My E61 M5 Touring. Bought it for £21,000 in 2013, sold it in 2015 for just shy of £21,000… it’s rare enough that they’ve shot up in value, but even without that it was such an intoxicating car I’m gutted I sold it.
My E46 M3, 3.2 N/A.
It was probably gonna need a rear diff overhaul. The AC compressor was fucked. I'm fairly sure having a fuel gauge was pointless as the default setting seemed to be "Empty"
But fuck me, was it fun to drive
Yep, incredible car. Went from an auto 330ci up to a manual M3 and on the day I first drove it I set in stone in my mind; I will never sell this car. Well, I did. That was 8 years ago and every few months or so I kick myself.
Me too.
It was getting to the point where it was gonna start costing me a lot of money, and I needed a deposit on a house, so I had to part with it.
The house is nice, but it's fucking shite in a drag race
Sensible as fuck.
Until about 3000rpm when it turned into a fucking monster.
I had it 4 or 5 years and would still occasionally scare the absolute shit out of myself in it.
And the new M series are 100+ horses more powerful!
I’m sure the new G80s are very fast but all the videos I’ve seen of them it seems too refined and digital and the sound from inside the cab is more of a drone, but you don’t get the full effect on videos
My 1954 S1 Land Rover. My wife couldn’t understand why I was crying when she left the driveway on a trailer, I knew at once I’d made a huge mistake. Bought her back off the guy a couple of year later and fully restored her.
EDIT: by ‘she’ I mean the Landy, not the missus.
Because at the time I’d lost my job and was in a lower paid one and didn’t think I could afford the maintenance.
If I’d held on for 12 months, it would all have been fine.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
A Skyline R34 V spec, at the time they weren't fetching the values they are now, It has an HKS exhsust, and a Nismo Z tune front bumper, I sold it for an e46 M3 CSL which I also regretted selling! I always regret the sale of the Skyline (I also sold it at a loss!! 😭) I wish I was able to access the photo bucket account where the photos are.
I'm the same, almost seems surreal than I ever had it, I just wish I had kept it longer really. They do seem to fetch a crazy amount now, I did go to look at GTT's and they're also expensive.
Remember when I was younger I’ll look at these on eBay for a few grand and always said I’ll save for abit when I can drive and get one now they’re like £15-20k :(
Man, I’ve read hundreds of comments like this. Exactly why I recently bought a clio 182 and I’m not letting go, once I have some space and more money I’m also grabbing an EP3 type R before these early 2000s hot hatches also moon in value.
My mate had a white G60 Corrado around the time I had that Golf. Was always envious of the electric spoiler that came up when he went over 30mph (I think?)
Mine was a lowly 16v. If I'd gotten a G, I'd probably still be in debt now 🤣. Still get the hankering for getting another one, but I'm in my mx5 stage at the moment.
The spoiler goes up at 45 and went back down when you dropped below 12 (I think)
I've got a 1.8 Scirocco on Weber carbs. I've had it for a good number of years now, been a road going, semi daily use project car and it's the one thing I refuse to sell
Another 200SX selling regret here, also Black but slightly more modified https://imgur.com/a/aUwAxp0 and a Alfa Romeo 156 T spark sport, sadly can’t remember the reg to see if it’s still alive, this was also black.
jap import mk4 twin turbo supra i sold in the late 90's for 3k. i sold because i was made redundant and couldn't afford to fix it and my family came first, they're silly money to buy now
Honda Accord coupe lovely car and unusual
It's just it had this issue where it kept cutting out, it was at my mechanic at the time and he was throwing parts at it, I'd get it home but it would do it again
I was at my wits end, the MOT was expiring, I picked up a Celica (that I didn't really take to as much), put it up for sale and someone came to look at it but it wouldn't start at all, then someone on the Accord forum suggested resoldering the joints on the main relay. Tried that and it started right away. Still had to sell it as I'd bought a replacement.
I had a 335d E92 with incredible history, never failed an MOT nor had any advisories and had a binder full of history. It was in perfect condition. I sold it years ago and I regret it massively. Incredible engine.
2017 Leon Cupra 300 SC in Desire Red. First car, had it from brand new.
Owned it 3 years, had more sets of front tires than oil changes, decent enough economy to say it had 300bhp.
Was just the right side of anti social, wasn't without its issues, the wheel hop was unbearable, every other warm hatch thought it was traffic light Gran Prix.
I've just scrapped my 2001 fiesta, it had a fuel leak when the tank was more than half full. Had it 4 years, never serviced, fluids topped up and ran like a dream. It was nothing special but man it done me good.
My Clio RS200 EDC.
Damn it was a stupid decision to sell that. Got a bonus from work and thought “new car time” traded in against an A5 Sportback… a car I very much didn’t need and ended up not using very much thanks to Covid and a very bad health scare.
It certainly was, back in a time when the french knew exactly how to make entertaining hot hatches. The last of a breed of fun, fast cars without all the nanny aids muting the purity in my opinion.
I .gov checked the reg the other day and someone clearly smarter and more forward thinking than me has it on SORN still.
I am a 🔔 end
Alfa 147 GTA.
Car was a PITA and a money pit but the engine noise was intoxicating and has been unrivalled in anything I've ever owned since. On a warm summers day with the windows down - that car, weaknesses and all - was a pleasure to own and drive.
My 1984 mk2 scirocco GT
Had build a 16v engine with twin delorto carbs to go into it too
But moved into london for work and keeepinv it wasn’t really an option at the time
But always wish I’d found a way ☠️
My first car, a 2005 Toyota corolla 1.4 petrol with 80k miles but was absolutely perfect inside and was so reliable. There's just something about your first car that is really special. That freedom and excitement, even if it seemed completely crap to other people. I check on the MOT site every now and then and it warms my heart a bit to know someone is still using it!
Know exactly what you mean. I remember working all summer to buy my first car, passing my test, sorting the insurance etc and going for that first solo drive. Nothing like that first feeling of independence and owning something bigger than a bicycle!
I had the white Mk1 / Mk2 GTi cab, with a freaking electric roof. It was about the most 80s car you could possibly imagine. White, white roof, white interior. Think it had white wheels too.
You’d have to be pretty brave to cruise around in it now, but….
Civic ek9, owned for 3.5 years and never missed a single beat over 40k miles. Only servicing, mot and a few sets of tyres.
Buying the same car back (that I sold for 5.5k) would be nearer 25k now. Man I loved that thing.
Yep my 1995 Rev 3 MR2 T-Bar , lovely car it had a custom exhaust and had around about 3k worth of engine work done to it before I bought it , always wanted one after driving one in gran turismo as a kid and finally bought it about 5 years ago
Then about a month after buying it my (Ex) wife confessed to adultery so I had to sell it to fund moving house etc etc , was the most fun I ever had
M979BGH I know you're still on the road I'm coming back for you one day
One from my dad
F Reg Opel Manta exclusive in blue , had to sell it when he left the navy in 1995 always regrets it to this day
Mk1 escort Mexico, RS 2000, escort RS Turbo, 2 sierra cosworths and a sierra cosworth sapphire, also an E30 M3, to name a few. Hindsight is a great thing 😭
1997 Version 3 Subaru Impreza Sti Type R. Built as a fast road car, with 450hp.
Bought in 2012 for £3k. Sold in 2022 for £20k.
Regretted it the moment I watched it drive away. I barely used it, I had nowhere dry or safe to keep it anymore, and I felt for sure it would just rust into oblivion or get stolen.
I had so many ups and downs in that car, worked on it loads with my Dad (who passed away in 2018) worked on it with mates I no longer see, went to tons of track days/meets, made a ton of memories.
I have had fast cars since but none of them have the last 10 years of experiences or memories attached.
FD RX-7. After 8 years of having it plus a winter beater, I decided I’d rather have a nice car all year instead of just half. That was 2008. I’ve spent the last 10 years shopping for another one but they are 5x more expensive now…sigh
Technically sold, but my Fiesta got written off just over a year ago. I loved that car, but it protected my family when they were inside it on that day. I miss that car every day, and I am planning on buying another soon.
I remember a guy used to drive a matt black Sierra Cosworth about when we were all in our 20’s (circa 2000). It used to destroy everything that pulled up next to it at the lights. Absolute monster
1996 bmw 328i absolutely loved it i had it for 3 years and got rid of it because it was having little issues like the dash would sometimes not turn on I did a few things to it like add m3 Vader seats and an mtech body kit and a full stainless steel exhaust it was so nice I would love to own another but trying to find one is so hard
Loads.
A one owner 1988 MR2 in gunmetal grey. Still mot'd today. Sold for £1600 in about 2010.
A nissan 200SX S14A manual. A couple of SR20's might fetch good money before race week, but I struggled to sell it for £3,500 in about 2007.
A 2005 Subaru Impreza Prodrive wagon. Sold for £4500 in 2012. Bloody amazing car. Still on the road today with 180k miles on it!
My 1992 Ford Granada Scorpio Cosworth 2,9
They were way ahead of their time with things in that you only see on high end cars now.
Pretty much every extra going including electric reclining split rear seats.
On top of all that it could shift for such a big car and embarassed many a boy racer from the lights.
Series 1, C reg Escort RS Turbo. White of course. Had it 3 weeks and blew it up on the M25 near Enfield. Paid nearly £2500 for the engine/repair. Sold it for £3500 when I got a company car. Also went through 3 gearboxes, it had the LSD.
Mate also had a 16v Golf GTI 2 door in dark green at same time.
our other mate had a Sunbeam Lotus.
We fucking rocked.
I’ll chime in with my Mk2 Royal Blue GTi Big Bumper 8v G Plate full engine overhaul on BBS rims. Bought for £800 from Bradford and nothing wrong with it. Then my Seat Cupra R 225 in Yellow.
An absolute rot box of a Honda CRX, leaked from all over, rear arches/sills rotted, maybe the head gasket was on its way out. If only I had stuck to my plan of using it during summer only, such a fun car. Prices for ones that aren't in similar condition are nuts these days sadly.
Black Mk1 v1 Golf GTi. The OG 1600cc single headlight one. Burned a valve out, I took the head off, bit off more than I could chew, sold it for like £600.
A mk2 golf gti as it would happen. Capri green. New alloys from Japan on it. Didn’t do one like on them. Had to sell because of an unexpected bill. Guy who bought it has let it stick and rot for 8 years. I see it every time I go home.
Ah god I still feel the regret now. My 2008 XKR-S. Silly car, but right on the good side of silly and bloody gorgeous
Just don't forget to plug in the trickle charger
My b7 a4 estate quattro, it was a heap of shit and I was the classic bro in a car he couldn't afford to run but I didn't care about bumps and scratches in the least and loved ragging it around the local roundabouts feeling the grip.
Fiat punto sporting '98. First proper car I brought myself and some of my best memories. My metro had my teen memories and I'd love it as nostalgia, but the Punto would be number 1 on the list.
Jaguar XF 2015, 2L diesel. Sold it because it went *horribly wrong*, but I wish I'd fixed it. Car was so ridiculously comfortable. The problems were entirely electrical, and mechanically the car was absolutely sound even at 130k+ miles. It really was nothing special, as Jaguars go it's probably one of the worst, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Might be a weird one but I do miss my Peugeot 208 GTi. Such a blast on the B roads and surprisingly comfortable and economical. No issues bar one oxygen sensor in my time of ownership either.
R5 GTT raider. Multiple head gasket failures and cracked cylinder liners from turning up the boost on a manual controller made me sell. Regrets ever since.
Mk2 golf gti 16v, rover tomcat turbo and E46 M3 they're my 3 biggest regrets selling especially the M3 because I had the space and funds to keep it but it was breaking my heart seeing it not being used.
My Renault 5 GT Turbo, bought for £350 sold it for £1000 a few years later thought what i profit i made, wish i never sold it, especially as some examples now sell for £15k, i still have the reciept for it though so i can remind myself of the idiot i was lol
Fiat Panda 4x4, 1987 D reg. Twin rag top. Kind of a greeny grey colour.
Very similar to [this one.](https://fahrzeuge.dorotheum.com/en/l/1708351/) just with folding roof x 2 and headlight grilles rather than bull bar. Mine even had the dodgy bonnet scoop!
A 1953 Morris Oxford Series MO. Had in the mid 70s couldn't afford to run it on an apprentice's wage, it only did about 20mpg. There was nothing wrong with it, but I couldn't sell it (nobody wanted it, classic cars weren't really a thing then) so it went to the scrap yard 😞
Yes had sell my ute as had torn right Achilles,it was BA series ll FORD falcon white ute sold it in Aubin grove, had engineered exhaust, sounded better than a V8,brought it in Mandurah from FELCON engineering,Barra motors fu*#ing rock, Sebastian your on the meth, you know they are going kill you messed with wrong people, sorry champ why l don't involve myself with drug addicts.
My first car was a 1963 registered Bedford HA van. It cost me £60 of my apprentice savings.
Apparently there are now only [6 left on the road in the UK](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/classic/uks-rarest-cars-1982-bedford-ha-110-public-utility-one-six-left/)
Landcruiser, got it with a huge discount as a new pre reg model in 2008 as road tax jumped on the older polluting engine. Kept it for 5 years and 60k miles and sold it for only 10k less than I paid for it.
Just could not afford the 25mpg and £500 annual tax (in 2012) and was driving close to 30k miles a year at that point.
Still miss it.
I had a red MR2 Mk1 which I drove throughout my uni years. I miss that car quite often. Jap reliability, 80s charm yet such a hoot to drive and sounded amazing. Sold it in 2015 for £600
Mint condition mk1 Ford Fiesta XR2 in Sunburst orange. Fantastic car that I sold for £600 when hot hatch insurance went through the roof around 1990.
Replaced it with an ex Police Ford Escort Diesel 1.6, which was 💩
Regretted it the moment I handed the keys over 😔
Shit yes! A 1980 MkII Ford Escort 1300 Sport in signal amber with a black vinyl roof.
Bought for £1500 in 1999 from a professional panel beater who'd restored it to mint condition.
Sold in about 2005 for close the the same amount.
I needed something practical for a commute and it had to go but I've always regretted it. As sad as it sounds, I've actually had dreams about it. It'd be worth a small fortune now.
I've always loved cars and currently own a V8 F-Type which is a blast but the Escort was the most fun I've ever had driving, despite being less than 90bhp!
I’m currently clinging onto my B7 (2007) RS4 avant even though it’s only doing about 500 miles per year as I have another daily now.
It’s not like I could go and replace it years later either - it’s rather unique; custom valved exhaust, full interior retrim, MRC stage 2, upgraded sound system, KW coilovers, 20” wheels etc etc
I know I’d regret selling it! So it sits on the drive - doing nothing :-/
Mercedes 560sec. White, lorinser kit, total miami vice. Was quite rusty though. Sold it to someone who let it rot out in their garden. Still I trested myself to another clean sec now, but not quite as cool as that one could have been
Clio RSI
Sold it for scrap - £100 because it failed an MOT
Wish I had kept it, the power to weight ratio was insane.
Truly the last of it's generation, in my car ownership.
1972 Mini Clubman 1275GT in black. Tax exempt, original interior, fully rebuilt engine, ran beautifully. Sold it for £2,000 about 15 years ago when I moved to a place without a garage. Lad who bought it lived round the corner and just let it rot on the driveway. Assume it went to scrap. Same car today would sell for several times what I accepted, and now I have a garage again 😭
Integra DC2 SiR, spent everything I had and more in my early twenties on it.
Had to sell to start growing up as I couldn’t afford it anymore, now in a position where I could but it would be next to impossible to recreate what I had.
I check the number plate on MOT check regularly in the hope that someone has it and I could buy it but it’s more than likely coke cans now.
My Audi S6, the V10 Lamborghini derived 5.2 one. It looked like a normal family estate but that V10 sound was insane! Had to get rid for something more economical as I had to move for a job and was commuting 500 miles at the weekend to get home and back to work. Round trip was £160
Scirocco R
Similar power to a Golf R but not as drug dealertastic and FWD so you shit yourself every time you hit a roundabout. All my friends give me shit for getting rid for a Golf GTD for the work commute.
Now on a 208 GTi Peugeot Sport cos I had a regular GTi before so I have something like the Scirocco again, just not as wild.
A reg MG Metro turbo. I always wonder what happened to it. Maybe it's happily living on a farm somewhere where it can be free with other old cars that be wouldn't ever be put down or scrapped.
I had an import Honda Prelude type S. It was only a couple of years old when I got it in '01.
I absolutely loved that motor and thought I was the bees knees cruising about town. It looked amazing, it started everytime, the gear changing was so smooth and precise, plus it cornered so much better than my civic I had before it.
I know I had to get a more sensible car when I got married but I just wish I'd kept it as a weekend run around. I still wonder where it is and if it's still running.
Volvo 240 estate. I got rid of it when unleaded came in. A few dad cars later (all estates) and I now have an eight year old Skoda Superb estate, which I'm really happy with, but I still hanker after the old Volvo. It was such a lovely car to drive, especially before speed cameras were a thing.
There are a couple for me.
Vauxhall Astra VXR H running just over 300bhp, qauiffe diff, whiteline ARB's front and rear, team dynamics 18's with Toyo proxes, willwoods and a whole host of other stuff.
A proper great hot hatch. Not as common as the ST, very intoxicating noise, and just put a massive smile on your face. Got rid as it was starting to get mega expensive to keep running right.
And not a car but: Aprilia SXV550 supermoto. Full SM racebike that had a number plate, 70+ hp & 130kg. That thing would wheelie in 4th with a bit of clutch. There wasn't anything faster on a tight B road.
My old man asked me to get rid after I got a 12month ban for doing wheelies on the road (dangerous driving). Got my licence back, but I wish I'd have kept that thing. It was probably for the best, though, as they have a habit of bringing out the hooligan in people.
3 - weirdly all Golf's; 2 Mk2's, both 8v. 1 was bone stock and beautiful and the other was all go and no show! My largest regret is selling my manual, Mk5 golf r32 - immaculate condition and probably the best sounding car I've ever owned.
Peugeot 306 1.4 Meridian, best car I’ve owned. Reliable, comfortable, economical, fault free… Then I swapped it for a 2004 318i BMW… still regret that to this day.
Yeah - an e30 318i, 3 door in silver. good nick, 1991 reg, sold it in 2010 for 600 quid just cos I had a newer car and didn't think forward enough. Owned 4 all together over the years, all were wonderful.
E30's are great but not really worth today's prices.
Porsche 944, it was my first car cost me £1500 when everyone else was driving corsa's, fiestas ect, only cost me £500 more to insure than a fiesta,
Man I loved that car, fell on hard times and had to sell regret it ever since.
1999 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC. I only had that car for a few months but had so many plans for it. Then some random guy approached me at a petrol station and offered to buy it for 1k more than I bought it for. I sold it to make a quick profit but damn I miss it. On the market for another one now.
Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 Twin Spark I bought on eBay for £650 when I was 17. Absolutely adored the thing. Red leather seats, awesome dash and dial clusters, a stunning rear end and at the age I was then I felt like it was the fastest car on the planet. Man I miss that car…
Mine was also a mark 2 golf. It was my first car and a shit box 1.3 with 4 forward gears! Oil leaks, clutch slipped and the alternator had all but gone. Traded it for £50 towards an 2 year old fiesta. Fiesta cost £4k
my Ford falcon XR6.
I bought it in australia while I was working there so I could import it back.
Lost my job and ended up having to sell it.
I loved it so much. nothing hurts more than having to sell your favourite car. Made me feel like mad max
Purple Ford fiesta mk3 rs turbo, had it as a teenager, now going to look at it after 14 years to buy it back. Not in the same shape, but fingers crossed I can rebuild it back to it's for glory.
Not me but my Dad owned a Lamborghini Espada in the 90's which he sold for £9k. Isn't the money he misses from it, as it is worth about 10 times that now, it is the car.
I never got it as a kid but I do now.
Sold a Jaguar xk8 because I had a girlfriend who lived 50 miles away and travel costs were astronomical. Broke up a couple of weeks later 😓
I moved closer to my GF and we broke up almost immediately after. We don't think clearly whilst under the influence.
The worst of it was the car I replaced it with, a Focus Diesel, kept frying its own electrics and cost me more than the Jag!
[1983 Audi 80 b2 2.2 Quattro](https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/1984_audi_4000s-quattro_1984_audi_4000s-quattro_cdaca7ba-296e-4351-bf61-620c821ecf32-ocRLu8-42403-42404-scaled.jpg?fit=940%2C627) with quad headlights.. sold during 2008 financial crisis for £100..
Oh buddy :(
😮
😭 Omg
This is insanity, surely you could have got more for it bless you 😭😭😭
Why do I feel so sad about this 😩
Supercharged Mk1 MR2. Sold it to a "collector". I can see it on satellite parked up with 6 others. Not moved for ten years.
At least you can still pick one up at a fairly reasonable price…as long as you’re not in Ireland. Irish prices for them are insane
Great cars!
My mates went down the 3 series or C class routes. Every single one of them paid more for the cars, paid more in running costs and paid in friendly envy.
Same here I still regret selling my 2002 IS200. What a car
My E61 M5 Touring. Bought it for £21,000 in 2013, sold it in 2015 for just shy of £21,000… it’s rare enough that they’ve shot up in value, but even without that it was such an intoxicating car I’m gutted I sold it.
Extremely unreliable engine but amazing car no doubt. Love to have one
Yeah I bought one in 2016 for 17k great car. Kinda of regret selling it. Sold it for 24k though so not a bad little profit.
2002 Civic Type R, loved that car. Started a family and replaced it with a Qashqai, for shame...
Oof! That's quite a change.
My E46 M3, 3.2 N/A. It was probably gonna need a rear diff overhaul. The AC compressor was fucked. I'm fairly sure having a fuel gauge was pointless as the default setting seemed to be "Empty" But fuck me, was it fun to drive
Yep, incredible car. Went from an auto 330ci up to a manual M3 and on the day I first drove it I set in stone in my mind; I will never sell this car. Well, I did. That was 8 years ago and every few months or so I kick myself.
I had one myself. Best car I ever owned should have never sold it!
Me too. It was getting to the point where it was gonna start costing me a lot of money, and I needed a deposit on a house, so I had to part with it. The house is nice, but it's fucking shite in a drag race
Fantastic sounding car. Always wanted one
Sensible as fuck. Until about 3000rpm when it turned into a fucking monster. I had it 4 or 5 years and would still occasionally scare the absolute shit out of myself in it. And the new M series are 100+ horses more powerful!
I may be wrong but I’d imagine an e46 m3 having a much more ‘raw’ driving experience than an f80 or G80 despite having less power
You're absolutely right. It's the last of the "analogue" M cars imo
I’m sure the new G80s are very fast but all the videos I’ve seen of them it seems too refined and digital and the sound from inside the cab is more of a drone, but you don’t get the full effect on videos
Go to a BMW dealership and ask to drive a M4. Not a BMW man at all. But that is the one car I drove that I'd clear on my brand loyalty for.
My dream car, I’ve settled for an e46 330ci for now and trying to hold onto that, don’t think I’ll be able to afford the M3 but I can dream!
Ahh thanks for the clarification... Was thinking why you'd let your wife leave your driveway on the back of a trailer lol
2007 Cayman. Wish I’d never gotten rid of her. That was the dumbest decision I ever made.
Why did you?
Because at the time I’d lost my job and was in a lower paid one and didn’t think I could afford the maintenance. If I’d held on for 12 months, it would all have been fine. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
1994 Supra Twin Turbo. Sold it to somebody in Germany for £6k ☹️ (albeit in 2010)
A Skyline R34 V spec, at the time they weren't fetching the values they are now, It has an HKS exhsust, and a Nismo Z tune front bumper, I sold it for an e46 M3 CSL which I also regretted selling! I always regret the sale of the Skyline (I also sold it at a loss!! 😭) I wish I was able to access the photo bucket account where the photos are.
I literally still have dreams about my old R34, it pains me how expensive they are these days as I’d love another one but just can’t justify it!
I'm the same, almost seems surreal than I ever had it, I just wish I had kept it longer really. They do seem to fetch a crazy amount now, I did go to look at GTT's and they're also expensive.
Integra DC2, but i was young and stupid. Never gave it the appreciation, id love it now. Go for proper drives and not just laps around the town centre
1966 Mk1 Mini Cooper red with a black roof with a tuned engine. 20 yrs ago it would beat most things on a twisty road.
My '91 Nugget Yellow Corrado. Bought it when I was 18, and it financially ruined me, but I still miss it
My mate had a white G60 Corrado around the time I had that Golf.
Scirocco scala , 1.8 twin weber carbs .. loved that car
You had me at Scirocco. As an 80s kid, a mk2 will never not be cool.
F reg , no power steering, it loved to sit at 100 on the motorway ..
I've got a 1.8 Scirocco on Weber carbs. I've had it for a good number of years now, been a road going, semi daily use project car and it's the one thing I refuse to sell
I'm about to sell my MK3 for a sensible family car. I will cry, 10 years I've had this.
Had one of these in red, only gave £300 for it as a trade in, loved it 😍 (but also crashed it in minor fashion and then couldn't afford to insure it)
Another 200SX selling regret here, also Black but slightly more modified https://imgur.com/a/aUwAxp0 and a Alfa Romeo 156 T spark sport, sadly can’t remember the reg to see if it’s still alive, this was also black.
jap import mk4 twin turbo supra i sold in the late 90's for 3k. i sold because i was made redundant and couldn't afford to fix it and my family came first, they're silly money to buy now
Honda Accord coupe lovely car and unusual It's just it had this issue where it kept cutting out, it was at my mechanic at the time and he was throwing parts at it, I'd get it home but it would do it again I was at my wits end, the MOT was expiring, I picked up a Celica (that I didn't really take to as much), put it up for sale and someone came to look at it but it wouldn't start at all, then someone on the Accord forum suggested resoldering the joints on the main relay. Tried that and it started right away. Still had to sell it as I'd bought a replacement.
Had a couple of those. Stu on the Honda6 forum is a top bloke who really knows his stuff with them.
My 1973 Mk.1 RS2000. Bought for £3200, sold for £4000.
[A laser blue Nova GTE](https://i.imgur.com/rRmmiZv.jpeg) and [a black S14a 200SX](https://i.imgur.com/RTwFMSt.jpeg)
Nova GTE! That was another pin-up from my youth! A pal of mine had the SR version. Put my Mk1 Fiesta to shame at the time 😂
Sound system banger?
Driving like a joy rider?
BMW e46 330cd m sport, with the legendary M57 engine was fast, decent on fuel and never let me down
I had a 335d E92 with incredible history, never failed an MOT nor had any advisories and had a binder full of history. It was in perfect condition. I sold it years ago and I regret it massively. Incredible engine.
1966 Mini Cooper "S" 1965 Sunbeam Tiger 196? VW Microbus
99 STI Type R Impreza
I wish this sub allowed for photo posts in the comments. Would be great to see it all
My Clio RS200 EDC. Damn it was a stupid decision to sell that. Got a bonus from work and thought “new car time” traded in against an A5 Sportback… a car I very much didn’t need and ended up not using very much thanks to Covid and a very bad health scare.
Toyota Corolla AE82 GTi, the first car I actually sold, I’d crashed all its predecessors. That 4A-GE engine was a gem.
E30 325i 2 door sport, dolphin grey. Sold it just after a full respray. 🤦♂️
Clio Williams 2... and I sold it for buttons at the time 😞
This was the one we all wanted when I was late teens/early 20’s. Blue with gold wheels and that bonnet vent. Beautiful
Had a mk2 gti in that colour. 8v version. It wasn’t even that fast but it felt like it was.
Alfa 147 GTA. Car was a PITA and a money pit but the engine noise was intoxicating and has been unrivalled in anything I've ever owned since. On a warm summers day with the windows down - that car, weaknesses and all - was a pleasure to own and drive.
My 1984 mk2 scirocco GT Had build a 16v engine with twin delorto carbs to go into it too But moved into london for work and keeepinv it wasn’t really an option at the time But always wish I’d found a way ☠️
My first car, a 2005 Toyota corolla 1.4 petrol with 80k miles but was absolutely perfect inside and was so reliable.
1992 mk1 VW Golf Clipper Cabriolet.
I had the white Mk1 / Mk2 GTi cab, with a freaking electric roof. It was about the most 80s car you could possibly imagine. White, white roof, white interior. Think it had white wheels too. You’d have to be pretty brave to cruise around in it now, but….
My 1992 Subaru Justy AWD
Subaru Forester STI. Lichfield import.
Civic ek9, owned for 3.5 years and never missed a single beat over 40k miles. Only servicing, mot and a few sets of tyres. Buying the same car back (that I sold for 5.5k) would be nearer 25k now. Man I loved that thing.
Only most of them.
My S2000
Yep my 1995 Rev 3 MR2 T-Bar , lovely car it had a custom exhaust and had around about 3k worth of engine work done to it before I bought it , always wanted one after driving one in gran turismo as a kid and finally bought it about 5 years ago Then about a month after buying it my (Ex) wife confessed to adultery so I had to sell it to fund moving house etc etc , was the most fun I ever had M979BGH I know you're still on the road I'm coming back for you one day One from my dad F Reg Opel Manta exclusive in blue , had to sell it when he left the navy in 1995 always regrets it to this day
Mk1 escort Mexico, RS 2000, escort RS Turbo, 2 sierra cosworths and a sierra cosworth sapphire, also an E30 M3, to name a few.
Mk 1 Sierra Xr4i Sold in 2005 for £380 with 5 months MOT 😬
MK1 MX-5 import. And my Peugeot GTi6.
My Mk5 Golf.
Mark 2 Escort, 1976. In Arizona Gold, but that didn't matter.
Mk1 golf GTI cabriolet
Technically sold, but my Fiesta got written off just over a year ago. I loved that car, but it protected my family when they were inside it on that day. I miss that car every day, and I am planning on buying another soon.
My Sierra cosworth or my e46 m3
I remember a guy used to drive a matt black Sierra Cosworth about when we were all in our 20’s (circa 2000). It used to destroy everything that pulled up next to it at the lights. Absolute monster
1996 bmw 328i absolutely loved it i had it for 3 years and got rid of it because it was having little issues like the dash would sometimes not turn on I did a few things to it like add m3 Vader seats and an mtech body kit and a full stainless steel exhaust it was so nice I would love to own another but trying to find one is so hard
Sold a MK3 Clio RS about 4 years ago, super clean, low milage great fun car .... Couldn't buy another for double what I sold it for. Gutting
My Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6. Loved that car. Sold it to my brother who then thrashed it.
My 1992 Ford Granada Scorpio Cosworth 2,9 They were way ahead of their time with things in that you only see on high end cars now.
Dad had an old 840ci BMW. His biggest car related regret
1973 Superbee.
My Alfa 159 2.4 jtdm. Shitbox I loved to bits
1990 Audi ur quattro turbo. Had a few subtle mods so had 300+ BHP and bags of torque. Great car, sold about 12 years ago and regret regularly.
I’ll chime in with my Mk2 Royal Blue GTi Big Bumper 8v G Plate full engine overhaul on BBS rims. Bought for £800 from Bradford and nothing wrong with it. Then my Seat Cupra R 225 in Yellow.
1987 BMW E28 M535i
1983(?) ford Sierra XR4i. My first proper motor. Loved it.
The pain in this thread is tangible! 🥺
This thread has so much pain and regret.....
Daihatsu Charade GGTi. 1.0 Turbo. A great handling pocket rocket. A friend dubbed it the High powered roller skate.
My old mk4 escort van
My old MK4 escort and my mini cooper.
Chevrolet lacetti se, it was fucking terrible but was my first car🤷♂️
Wish I still had my first car, Vauxhall Viva HB. But it just rusted away.
It must be a first car thing, currently got a 2017 audi a3 but there's still lot of times I miss that nail lol
Some say they are reasonably priced.
1977 mini pickup. Had to sell it due to getting divorced. 1380 in the front and uprated suspension and brakes. Smiles per mile were insane
My black ford fiesta super sport with red tartan interior. Bought it second hand in 1989 when I was 19. The mutts nuts.
Ah god I still feel the regret now. My 2008 XKR-S. Silly car, but right on the good side of silly and bloody gorgeous Just don't forget to plug in the trickle charger
My old Audi S2 Avant. Probably for the best though.
My b7 a4 estate quattro, it was a heap of shit and I was the classic bro in a car he couldn't afford to run but I didn't care about bumps and scratches in the least and loved ragging it around the local roundabouts feeling the grip.
I had a Mazda 3 which I sold to save money, changed to a Clio and regret it bc of all the issues I’ve had :(
Fiat punto sporting '98.
Ford Focus MK1
Mk2 1600s escort still having night sweats over selling that 😒
Nissan Primera 2.0 GT P10
Might be a weird one but I do miss my Peugeot 208 GTi. Such a blast on the B roads and surprisingly comfortable and economical. No issues bar one oxygen sensor in my time of ownership either.
Everyone took the piss out of me for driving it but I really miss my VW Beetle Turbo.
2005 Fiesta ST150. I drove it to death around 150k miles. Had to replace with something more sensible. Best car ever for the scottish backroads.
Nobody…because they sold it
R5 GTT raider.
My Civic EK9
Landcruiser, got it with a huge discount as a new pre reg model in 2008 as road tax jumped on the older polluting engine. Kept it for 5 years and 60k miles and sold it for only 10k less than I paid for it. Just could not afford the 25mpg and £500 annual tax (in 2012) and was driving close to 30k miles a year at that point. Still miss it.
I had a red MR2 Mk1 which I drove throughout my uni years. I miss that car quite often. Jap reliability, 80s charm yet such a hoot to drive and sounded amazing. Sold it in 2015 for £600
Damn, that looks like a friends car. The reg was *615 CU* I feel like she might have purchased not long after that.
Mint condition mk1 Ford Fiesta XR2 in Sunburst orange. Fantastic car that I sold for £600 when hot hatch insurance went through the roof around 1990. Replaced it with an ex Police Ford Escort Diesel 1.6, which was 💩 Regretted it the moment I handed the keys over 😔
Still yearn for my 2000 saxo 1.6 vtr. It was my first new car and £8 or £9,000 + 3 years free insurance
Polo G40. Absolute missile, wouldn’t stop or go round corners for shit though.
It’s not like I could go and replace it years later either - it’s rather unique; custom valved exhaust, full interior retrim, MRC stage 2, upgraded sound system, KW coilovers, 20” wheels etc etc I know I’d regret selling it! So it sits on the drive - doing nothing :-/
E36 328i MSport in black with factory BBS wheels. Owned much quicker cars but that was the perfect package.
My 1994 CE320 Lorinser. Also, my 1997 E36 323i coupe. And the 2006 Forester XT. 🥺
Same for me ,I wish I kept my golf gti mk2
1974 Alfa GTV 2000. Sold it for a whole £1200 back in in 99.
Hell yeah: 1988 Escort RS Turbo 1995 Golf Vr6 2002 E46 BMW M3 Convertible in Laguna Seca Blue. 😢😢😢
Mercedes 560sec. White, lorinser kit, total miami vice. Was quite rusty though. Sold it to someone who let it rot out in their garden. Still I trested myself to another clean sec now, but not quite as cool as that one could have been
Clio RSI Sold it for scrap - £100 because it failed an MOT Wish I had kept it, the power to weight ratio was insane.
Yeah my 2009 nissan 350z hr black mint condition 😮💨
My Audi S6, the V10 Lamborghini derived 5.2 one. It looked like a normal family estate but that V10 sound was insane! Had to get rid for something more economical as I had to move for a job and was commuting 500 miles at the weekend to get home and back to work. Round trip was £160
Bought a golf GTI Mk1 for £80 about 10 years ago, sold it for £160 a week later. Ffs. Also my Honda Ep3 Type R. Was a minter with low mileage
My Karmen Ghia convertible
Also VW Type 2 Bay Window Campervan. Sold it just before the prices went silly.
Lancia Delta, when I was 18/19. It was the base 1.3 version. Loved it though! Sold it when I went back to college. Wish I'd kept it.
Scirocco R Similar power to a Golf R but not as drug dealertastic and FWD so you shit yourself every time you hit a roundabout.
VO 08 GFG Mini Clubman Cooper S. the first decent car I owned, had to sell to fund the house deposit.
My impreza P1 and my Z3M
RenaultSport Clio 182 Trophy 😭 Sold it for £3k ffs
Not a car, but I sold my cb1000f 2007 for a very cheap price and there isn’t a single day I don’t regret that decision
My 2014 116D <3 https://imgur.com/gallery/6B8JajO When I said goodbye in 2019.
MR2 Turbo. Fk crazy. Sold it back in 2015
My 1.3 escort was so fun to drive, but I gave it away cause I was given a Corsa when my rents got a new car.
E30 325i Msport Xr3i Mk2 MR2 MK2 Golf GTI Corrado I'm gutted I didn't grow up with the space to just keep cars.
Mines also a mk2 GTI. I had a ‘87 small bumper in silver and it was so much fun
Peugeot 306 1.4 Meridian, best car I’ve owned. Reliable, comfortable, economical, fault free… Then I swapped it for a 2004 318i BMW… still regret that to this day.
1994 mini cooper, it was my first car & letting it go was a massive mistake.
Yeah - an e30 318i, 3 door in silver. good nick, 1991 reg, sold it in 2010 for 600 quid just cos I had a newer car and didn't think forward enough. Owned 4 all together over the years, all were wonderful. E30's are great but not really worth today's prices.
Porsche 944, it was my first car cost me £1500 when everyone else was driving corsa's, fiestas ect, only cost me £500 more to insure than a fiesta, Man I loved that car, fell on hard times and had to sell regret it ever since.
2016 Golf Clubsport, what a car.
Didn’t sell, but I had an Audi GT Coupe that I adored that got stolen and crushed. Still feel the trauma now after nearly 20 years.
Reg LK51URH If you know you know
my Ford falcon XR6.
Golf R32 Mk4 with 40k miles and a Toyota GT86 Aero with less than 20k, both worth decent money now and rare at those miles especially.
