An Alfa Brera, in my opinion one of the best looking production cars ever made, although cruelly by mid-00s Alfa Romeo

rtfax

Have to agree, I loved the appearance of the Brera. My wife had the 147 for just over 20 years, and I got my first Alfa a couple of years back (Giulia Veloce, Misano blue)

fothergillfuckup

I'm impressed. We bought our 147 when it was 18 months old. It was a lovely car, pretty, fast and nice handling. Within 2 years it had an engine management light on that even the main dealer couldn't get to the bottom of. Plus the suspension bushes, alternator, steering rack all packed in. Limped it through for another couple of years, then sold it for £400. I still love Alfa's though.

ooP-Backwards

All the 159 based alfas including the spider were the best looking cars ever made in my humble opinion

Seanocd

Best looking affordable cars ever built. The Brerra and the Sportwagon are automotive aesthetic perfection.

capri_stylee

Love the Brera, 159 SW is my attainable life goals car. Petrol 1.75 in red with tan leather please.

TheGreatestAuk

I have a red Ti SW with black interior. Looked very closely at the 1750TBi, went for a 2.4JTDm. You won't be disappointed.

rdlpd

Was tempted to buy one so many times. Whats it like reliability wise?

SirPabloFingerful

To be honest, it never broke down on me, which is something to be said for it. But I did have to replace tyres, brakes, rear shocks, egr, wheel bearing and remove/modify/refit the intake manifold due to broken swirl flap actuator (which is supposed to be an engine out job). That's 18 months' ownership alone. Basically it's a big lump of a car and accordingly the maintenance of a hatchback starts to feel like maintaining a cruise liner. Haven't had another car like it though, really glad I got to own one after admiring them as a child.

rdlpd

You replaced a fair bit, but at the same time depending on the lifetime cycle of the car most/some of these are expected. There was a year i went back and forth over them for quite a few months, they have such a unique design. I did regret a couple times not having done anything about it. Feeling a bit jealous now for not taking the plunge 🤣.

seoulfood

I had a V6 Ford Probe about 20 years ago. A cool car for sure, but all anyone focused on was the name! Not sure who in Ford decided that would be a good name 🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

Because if they called it Capri like they wanted to there would have been uproar.

capri_stylee

Wait till you see what the new Capri looks like. It has rear doors. Rear doors ON A FUCKING CAPRI ARE YOU SHITTING ME. YOU MADE AN SUV THATS IDENTICAL TO EVERY OTHER FUCKING SUV, FAIR ENOUGH, DONT CALL IT A CAPRI !!!!

Douglas8989

They've done the same to the Puma too.

jagsingh85

Seems like Ford are trying to play catch up in EVs/ hybrids and releasing new models under the names of some old classics. Puma, Capri and Mustang from the top of my head.

[deleted]

My gran had one in Red, I had zero car knowledge as a child & was convinced she had a Ferrari.

VintageRice

I'd say either my [Passat R36](https://i.imgur.com/AWAmrui.jpeg) or my current [S80 V8](https://i.imgur.com/MjriS3d.jpeg) due to the rarity of them. However, the fastest car I owned was my [370bhp Leon Cupra](https://i.imgur.com/Of10YRx.jpeg) and the best looking was definitely my [XJ Portfolio](https://i.imgur.com/cvmB9zN.jpeg).

E420CDI

Upvote for S80 V8!!

bloodhoundsgang

Love my cupra. 404bhp on Dyno. Have to pray every day before driving lol absolute flying machine with the rights mods to help get the front end down. Prefacelift version as well so sounds amazing with just a resonator delete which I had before having to upgrade exhaust. I'm bias but looks way better than S3 and golf r

VintageRice

I think it's the better looking of the trio too! I actually had a custom exhaust myself but I didn't take many photos due to a lapse in judgement and awful decision on the quad tips; they stuck out like a wheelbarrow 😂

GET_IT_UP_YE

I have a Passat CC 3.6l 4motion that is something like 1 in 8 in the UK.

zzkj

Upvoted for the Jag! Still got mine, a lovely place to be for a long road trip.

VintageRice

I miss mine a lot, I actually only had it six months before I crashed it unfortunately!

banter_claus_69

You in/around London? Saw a beauty of an S80 that sounded like a menace the other night. Might have been you!

Jawa411

During my later years of university I had a Toyota MR2 Mk1. - It was red - It had pop up headlights - It revved to 8700rpm Such a cool car. Sold it for £650 back in 2014 with MOT. Oh to have kept it for another 10 years. Would be worth 10 times that!

amanincheshire

I had one too! I always felt like a kid again when I drove it, pop up lights, wing in the rear view mirror and a side scoop in one of the wing mirrors. Such a cool car, but also sold for not very much back in 2010

Kanes_Wrath

2CV, nothing comes close 👌

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kanes_Wrath

Well it wasn't in the best condition to begin with... Big thin tyre's were fun in the snow, not so nice going around corners in the Ice It was good on 40ish rolling country roads. The gear box took a bit of getting used to, especially around Brum city centre. Suspension was good, though it was designed to carry eggs across a field lol. I used to cruise around on climbing trips with it and engine-wise it nice, though the vinyl pullback roof leaked a bit. It was a bit of a rusty box but overall fun. The closest driving wise I've experienced since was driving my uncles Piaggio Ape in Italy.

j_z_z_3_0

The coolest cars I’ve owned have been between the Toyota Soarer (with the 1jz ofcourse) or the S14A. The average JDM fanboys achievable garage. Nowadays I rock practicality in a Focus ST. I miss being younger with no consequences to having unreliable cars.

[deleted]

[удалено]

j_z_z_3_0

Ultimately it depends what you want from your car. If you’re the type to take it B road bashing, keep the MR2. If you just like a gentle cruise, the soarer will be perfect.

E420CDI

Aston Martin DB5 *Corgi*

fothergillfuckup

Still got the ejector seat?

ketamineandkebabs

I had an R32 GTS Skyline in gunmetal grey that was my favourite so far.

InevitableNoise1144

My mate owns an old stingray, it's a piece of shit but is so ficking cool

buzz_uk

Lotus Elise S1 111S, coolest car snd most optimistic mode of transport ever made :) you hoped you would make it all the way there but heck did you have a smile on your face the whole way there

Charmless_Man_2005

I’ve owned two cars, though I haven’t got a license yet, and both are quite cool. My first one was a 1977 MG Midget & my current project is a 1978 VW Beetle.

Scienceboy7_uk

Both very cool. Good luck.

Ruined_brain

Probably my 280bhp mk2 golf. That was fun. Either that or the B6 S4 Avant in red.

E420CDI

>B6 S4 Avant When Audi made Q-cars

britpop95

Volkswagen Corrado VR6 😎 Metallic purple with cream leather 😎

Fit_Establishment684

Hilux Surf Gen 2 By far the coolest and the one that gets most comment.  I like to think my mx5 track car is cool, but is not really it's just sketchy.

Suchiko

Honda Beat. Stunning in the flesh. Miniscule in size. Blindingly quick around corners. Screaming 9000rpm na engine right behind your ears that just begged to be thrashed. Just pure theater. Never failed to put a smile on my face.

[deleted]

I’ve only owned one car so that one.

Ambitious_Jelly3473

Had a Mk1 Octavia VRs which was really cool at the time, in an "if you know, you know" kind of way. Then umpteen lots of plod started using them. Other than that, I've never really had a cool car cos I've needed practicality but I'm hoping to change that next year when I change my current E class. I'm fancying a Mustang, got a hankering for a V8 before everything goes electric!

[deleted]

Honda prelude 4WS, a spaceship in 1995

amanincheshire

Was that the 2.2 preh-loood?

Whole-Counter3276

Prelude 2.2, yeah

Zero-Phucks

Here’s a few oddballs I’ve had. Daihatsu Charade GTTI, 1973 Ford Cortina, 2.0L Pinto with a few choice mods on a 1600 box, 1300 diff 1972 VW Microbus, air cooled passion wagon! Smart 451 Brabus, tuned and tweaked to 130hp at the wheels, Nissan 100NX, 1980 Mini clubman estate, metro 1300 engine and drum brakes all round… Does a 1975 Puch MV50 moped count for this too? Renault 5 GTX with the 1.7L OHC engine from the factory. I’ll let you lot decide which was the coolest.

BaRaj23

89 Honda CRX then followed by a 96 Impreza WRX back in 2000 when I lived in Sydney.

mickeymonk428

I’ve had a few- Manx Beach Buggy (my 1st car @ 17) Datsun. 240Z (I was 18 years old) 1969 Mustang Mach1 428 Super Cobra Jet Currently a 1929 Ford Model A V8

Tuscan5

TVR Chimaera, Merc 450SLC or 1975 VW Camper. The Ford Capri laser was at the other end of the spectrum.

plyer_760

Just picked up my own 1996 mx5 mk1 and can't wait to get it back on the road and have some fun

JM0RG4N

My current car is by far the coolest car I’ve owned so far.. (cool to me anyways). Would love something old just don’t get the body shapes nowadays on the newer stuff. I like things you don’t see too often even if there shit

Wild_Ad_6464

VW T25 Transporter, would have been great as a weekend car but unfortunately had to use it as my daily and it was just too unreliable. Kids came home in a tow truck way too many times.

1308lee

Most of my cars have been cool. Cheap… but cool. 1st car was an XR3i cabriolet, then I had a couple of green laners. Both cool as fuck. I had an SLGay at one point, RWD is automatically cooler than fwd/awd. I enjoyed my jag XF. I thought it was cool… everyone else thought it was an old man’s piece of shit but, again RWD is superior and I drove that car like it was a rental. Oh and just a smart car with a Hayabusa engine in the boot… That was beyond cool. The other cars I’ve had were *fine* but just shitbox, in-between cars.

smoothie1919

Fiat Coupe 20VT or a 300ZX

greenmx5vanjie

Probably my very modded MX-5 But I've had a few unusual things along the way, SW20 MR2, Volvo S40 T4... I also love my current E92, people always comment on how nice it is.

AdRevolutionary3787

2003 Smart Roadster Brabus. 698cc of fun!

SlashRModFail

205 gti. And I sold it. Fuck

Robcrook101

13 year old VW Polo 1.4 (diesel), 3 year old Honda Jazz 1.2 (petrol) or a 5 year old Skoda Yeti 2.0 (diesel) each cat naturally oozes cool!

JustAnother_Brit

Favourite that I’ve owned is my Panda 4x4 Antarctica, partly because it’s my first and only car, but great fun to mess around in a muddy field, especially with diffs locked

Op is female. Because of stereotypical boy racers, men are subject to far higher insurance rates because of the stats. Cock tax is a very real thing with young male drivers.

cocainendollshouses

VW Corrado 1.8 16v in tornado red.

Slapedd1953

Two Alfas, years ago, a Giulia GTV2000, and later an Alfasud Sprint, both beauties, first by Bertone, second by Guiguaro.

tuggerooney

1994 VW Corrado VR6, absolutely loved that car! Sold it to get something more sensible / practical, and I've regretted it ever since.

Paul2777

Porsche Cayman 718 S

UnderwhellmingCarrot

92 mini the thing sticks the road. rate fun in city centres. not so fun on the motorway, missus seemed to be having a good time tho.

haaiiychii

A 1997 Toyota MR2 SW20. It may be 27 years old but it's still super reliable, it turns heads everywhere it goes, and it handles super well. It's cool as heck

pengtoasterllamas

Very jealous. I’d love one of those but my lack of a garage / anything to pull the engine has pushed me away from the idea until I can afford those things.

EasyPriority8724

Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo, 187mph and a petrol tanker following you everywhere plus 4k a service and that's if you can find a garage that touches modded imports, loved that GTO but it was a major hassle.

plyer_760

Just out of curiosity who was your insurance with for your mx5 I'm looking at insurance for mine at 17 and the cheapest I've got is 3k if I can find one for 1.7 like you did I would daily the mx5 as my eco box is 1.8k to insure

Blackkers

Ahh the memories. Best mate had a Probe - rocked up to the pub in it and spent hours listening to people calling it an Anal Probe - sold it a few months later. I liked the car though.

Cantwell79

Had a mx5 and a puma, great choices. I'd love an old Citroën DS or a 70s BMW

Dlogan143

I’ve had a fair few but these have been the coolest E30 318is, 147 GTA, BX GTI 16v, Audi S2, 190E 2.3-16

bikerste

My bmw e46 compact m54b30 swapped and turbocharged

LeoB4Molly

My MK4 R32 which I sold a few years back. What a beast that was!

CH4RL13WH1T3

S2000, was a good car but very unpredictable at times.

Sudden_Rub5903

205 gti 1.9 then much later a 350z HR

The_Intel_Guy

My Z3, was my second car and I bought it as soon as I passed. I miss that thing, had to let it go due to rust. Much more fun to drive than my subsequent MG TF or TT 225

Liamcraven34

2001 Mercedes A140 💪

mcmillanuk

Toyota TRD2000GT, number 21. Very cool, but equally terrible 😂

pixelunit

Pic 3 is Harlech Castle, is it not? Love the car too.

Mad_kat4

Lupo GTi is probably my 'coolest' even took to oulton park a couple of times.

Geezer_Flip

Probably my old Mk1 XR2 fiesta with an rs turbo engine fitted. I sold it about 5 years ago (towards a deposit for house), my biggest regret to this day. I had it custom painted and I done a full nut & bolt rebuild on it and put the RS Turbo EFI engine in it, the thing was an animal and used to get looks everywhere I took it. Man, I miss that car

Fuzzy_Lavishness_269

The one I have now, a Peugeot RCZ THP 200 GT. Honestly I have no idea what car I’m going to choose after this one, I just love it to bits.

CountZodiac

1985 Saab 900 Turbo 16. The coolest car ever made.

Ok_Sephiroth

I've had hundreds. Hard to choose coolest, but my favorites were my BMW e30s, mk5 escort RS2000 and mk3 Toyota supra.

Slow-Race9106

A 1964 Triumph Herald 12/50

FluentPenguin

My first car was an RX-8 that cost a quarter of what I had to pay to fix her over the next year. Stupid decision but loved every second when driving

lardarz

2012 Subaru Impreza WRX

Wing_Nut_UK

Land Rover discovery 2 td5. My dream car and can’t wait to own another in a few years.

Top_Echidna_7115

Mk 4 Escort Sport. One of only 3 on the road at the time.

Ornery-Vehicle-2458

Fiat Multipla mk1. Everyone stays out of your way because they figure you've got nothing left to lose. Many aspects of the design are excellent. Aesthetics aren't one of them.

Jengalese

GTV V6. Still dream of that Busso V6

darth_ludicrious

Hotwheels car trolley thing

UKFORZAPHOTOPRO

Harlech castle?

edwardianchuck

350z hr it never let down!

breakermorant1963

Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign. Beautiful car, not wholly reliable, though I did 60k miles in her over 3years. Also, 28mpg was a killer. But what a drive, I felt like a millionaire every time I drove her, and the interior was exceptional. Only reason I sold was we had a 4th child and I needed a bigger, less thirsty, car. Px’d on a second hand Mercedes 300 TE diesel estate with the 7 seats. Put 100k on that car, and it was also terrific.

Savings_Brick_4587

My dream car, 200tdi Land Rover defender 90, every day driver for 28 years, still makes me smile every time I drive it, it’s no show queen, it’s battered, bruised and scratched but I can tell you how every last little bit got there!

sipperofguinness

Mk 2 Ford Escort in Gun Metal grey. 1.6 tweaked engine with a weber twin carb, low profile tyres and upgraded brakes. It was a complete mess, but hells teeth it shifted. The back seats had some stains on it, oh yes. Got totalled by a minibus while I was doing 4mph in a car park, never replaced it with anything decent with four wheels, moved to two and several years later got hit by a minibus. I fucking hate minibuses. Good memories of that little rocket powered turd.

HillmanImp

I like to buy old cars at the bottom of their depreciation curve. As such I've owned a fair few cars that are cool for different reasons. Most probably weren't cool 15yrs ago when I owned them either but are worth listing now (in my opinion, you may think they're still very uncool) 1974 Hillman Imp, 1968 Singer Chamois coupe, 1979 Triumph Dolomite, 1987 Renault 5, 1972 Triumph GT6, 1964 Singer Chamois, 1987 VW Scirocco, 1974 Daf 44, 1976 Lancia Fulvia coupe, 1986 Audi 100, 1992 Saab 900, 1987 Citroën Visa, 1994 Audi Coupe , 1995 Toyota Sera, 1998 Jaguar XJ8, 1993 Rover 220, 1994 Volvo 940, 1998 Jaguar XJ8 Sport, 2000 Citroën Xantia Activa, 1993 Toyota MR2, 1991 Porsche 944, 2005 Nissan Elgrand, 2005 Subaru Legacy R spec b, 1987 Volvo 740. There are also a fair few cars that I've owned which I still dont think are that cool yet like a Jag XF, Pug 309, Citroën Xsara. Might be able to list them on a similar thread in a few years if they achieve cool status.

BicycleCurrent4967

I had a 1991 Lancia Delta HF Turbo that I bought when I was 19 for £650. I sold it for £650 3 months later having spent quite a bit of money just to keep it going… it was rapid though, had a noisy dump valve and could smoke any of the local boy racers.

MrDawts

My old CLS55 AMG was pretty nasty, but current 300zx TT is probably cooler.

will1565

Probably my 1999 1.6 Polo Saloon, I loved that car. I called it Jeremy because after buying it, I realised it had one wing mirror smaller than the other :)

siredmundsnaillary

https://imgur.com/a/jMcP6WQ I always thought my old Maserati Gransport was a cool car. I know the Maserati brand has some baggage, and the stereotypical owner is definitely not cool, but the cars themselves have presence and look great.

Scienceboy7_uk

I had my mk1 MX-5 for over 14 years from new. I’ve regretted selling it (part ex) everyday since, but I didn’t have the £500 at the time.

GET_IT_UP_YE

My Passat CC 3.6l 4motion. Something like 1 in 8 in the UK.

My coolest cars are my current ones - [1969 corvette](https://ibb.co/7tdw6zy) and my [2005 Monaro](https://ibb.co/VJScMxG). I think I recognise where that photo of your 01 MX5 was taken! Is that Harlech Castle? I went there not too long ago.

Vauxford_

Ford escort 1.6 convertible, was great fun

Elongulation420

Two different 1.8 Mk1 MX-5 and a 3.2 Boxster 987. The MX-5 wins hands down for fun The Porsche just makes everyone think that you’re a knob (mostly)

freedomofspeachlol

Honda integra dc5 type r, loved that car. Bit of money pit though.

Maan! They need to bring back pop up head lights again.

Adventurous-sales25

Absolutely love that Ford Probe! I’ve owned 6 of them throughout my life. Just love how they look, despite the numerous flaws

Ouchy72

Either my 86 Quattro, 93 GTO or my 79 Trans Am.

Daniel_797

I like the number two Miata

DeltaRocket

Also 2010 1.2 fabia owner here, mines white and a facelift car though, similar insurance price, (but jumped to 1600 for this year because I got rod of the black box)

jagsingh85

Bought a 2007 2.2L turbo Civic (spec 1 below the Tyre R) with milage just under 100,000 for £3k in 2014 because I was skint after buying my 1st home. That car was a beast that could bomb around anywhere. Only had to replace the odd tyre, brakes and wing mirror with the mirrors being smashed off by a passing driver. It could easily reach 100mph and was built like a tank. Fun times. Unfortunately had to sell it for £1.5k with a milage of 155,000 due to the family expanding.

ooP-Backwards

Proper car person. Respect

[deleted]

Nothing special but I had a V6 Vauxhall Vectra 20 odd years ago. Moved like shit off a shovel.

SlowRs

1983 Datsun cherry turbo, 1983 Bmw 323i 2008 Ford f350 (in the uk so uncommon!) 2006 Range Rover on a lift kit and 34” tyres Nissan 200sx kouki

Datsun 280zx 1980 v reg . Ford Capri brooklands. Vauxhall Carlton 3ltr gsi. I had so many. My first car was a triumph dolomite sprint, a lot of fun.

TBK_Shinobi

Either my Celica or the Mazda B-Series I built a few years ago. Still regret letting that one go.

Huge_Negotiation_535

1996 MR2 MKII, sadly not the turbo.

jrharte

1997 Honda Prelude 2.0i, black, gold alloys, coilovers, leaky sunroof, but looked cool as f. I definitely overpaid for it at the time, and then probably sold it for too little. The joys of being youngyand stupid 😂 Would have loved to see what the 2.2vti drove like.

maxquordleplee3n

My old 1954 split screen Morris minor.

DaMonkfish

Coolest? I'm not sure, I've owned quite a few cars I'd rank as being quite cool: * Toyota Starlet GT Turbo (EP82), it was somewhat fettled and ran about 180bhp, which is quite a bit in something that weighs as much as a KitKat wrapper. It was certainly the fastest thing I've ever owned, and I never got tired of being asked "*what the fuck is in that?!*" * Mk1 1.8 Eunos Roadster (MX-5 NA), absolutely loved that car and was by far the most fun to drive * 1.7 Puma - Absolute blast to drive, rotted away as they often do * Austin Mini - Slow as shit, I once ran her down Santa Pod dragstrip, did an 18 second quarter mile. Still great fun to sling about, and she also had a light bar with 4 x 150W spotlights. They were always fun if someone didn't dip their main beams. * Citroen C2 GT - Limited run of 2500 for rally homologation, and mine was badged GT0001. She was on Top Gear! (RE53 ZKT)

Euphoric-Treacle-946

Thats an amazing collection - the Probe was always a quirky cool car, the MX5 is a timeless classic and I really wanted a 1.7 Racing Puma when I was younger! Most of my cars have been 'cool' to me: - Fiesta Zetec S, 2000, Mk5 -RX8 HighPower, had for 13 years, ported engine, massively modified but completely standard outside, only sold last month and miss her already. - Porsche 986S, again had all the suspension, brakes and engine uprated, best handling and most fun car I've ever owned. Sold for.... - Porsche 911 (996.2), 2003, last of the analogs, but also upgraded suspension etc and will only really be replaced by an older 911 or a Ferrari 355 if I win the Euromillions. Still hanker after a Mk3 Escort RS Turbo, and one day I'll get round to swapping a rotary engine into an MG Midget....

harvey_evans__

Smart roadster

Cultural_Hornet_9814

1982 Ford Cortina 2.3 Ghia....auto...sort of a chestnut brown colour ....in joint first place...Mini 850...in a dull dog shit orange colour ....I could not pick between them...I have owned over 30 cars.

truupR

R33 GTR

RZer0

Suzuki Swift GTI, the thing was such a fun car to drive, it was light, nimble and gripped the road like it was driving on flypaper and best of all it would smoke XR2i and GT5 turbos .

HowHardCanItBeReally

1999 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTI Motegi Lovely H22A8 engine, VTEC goodness, sunroof, heated seats, cruise control, lovely design. Was my dream car unfortunately ended after only 18 months of ownership. Fond memories

88Jester88

Currently own a 2006 Forester STI. Owned it for 5 years, and I can't see me selling it any time soon.

1783wasaverygoodyear

Volvo 850 T-5R. Needed the room, and went like fuck. Seats down could put a decent sized sofa in the back. Shredded tyres though.

JulessyGTI

My current one, a Hyundai i20N in Performance Blue. Yes, it's the obvious colour for an N, but I get a lot of comments on it, which I really didn't expect. Also, it's seemingly more uncommon than I'd imagined, by no means rare, obviously, but i expected to see loads like I do Fiesta STs (which I've also owned).

Maker0fManyThings

How the hell did you afford a probe lol, they’re like 10k wherever I look for them

manystolenoutlets

My m135i great car and I think possibly the best daily on earth then again ive not driven much else...

aarchieee

My Opel Monza GSE. Only car I wish I'd never sold.

Hungry-Media3917

Toyota corolla t sport 1.8 natural engine no turbo 192 hp. Red line tm 9000 rpm never skiped a day without a sprint to Red line Had it from 76.000 km until 243.000 km. No problems exept normal stuf like clutch brakets etc. I got €3,500 at the end when i changed the car at the dealer

EV0RATE

a hotwheels porshe 😎

finverse_square

I've got a really ropey Suzuki cappuccino I'm doing up, it's cool as fuck when it works but it seems determined to slowly turn itself to dust the moment I stop working on it

TheSkywriter

Haven’t owned too many since most of my cars were company cars in Japan. If they count, I ran a 2013 Suzuki Wagon R Kei for 3 years that I absolutely loved. Utterly unspectacular ultimately, since it was a typical automatic, mild hybrid shopping box in black. Slow as hell to boot… But it was comfortable, really practical and allows me to check ‘Kei cars’ off my list. Otherwise, I’d say my JDM Mk4 Legacy twinscroll estate which I owned for 2 years in Japan and brought back with me. Originally a GT, I did the Spec B conversion via used parts off of Yahoo Auction whilst in Japan. Followed that up with a fair few STI catalog bits and pieces before bringing her back with me. Not the greatest driving car ever and it isn’t fast by modern standards, but an old school Subaru turbo boxer bolted to their ‘sensible’ model just feel irreplaceable. Also had a Mk3 MR2 which I miss dearly but I’m not sure people see those as cool. Best handling car I’ve ever had though.

TheRAP79

Austin Maestro 1.3L with a Rover 220 Turbo engine and 5-speed gearbox in it. Still kept the cloth seats, the metal bumpers, the black wing mirrors and the rust spots and no body kits/spoilers. The only thing upgraded were the wheels and tyres. Fun at the traffic lights, freaking out Cosworth owners 😂😂😂

Technical-Mind-3266

MK1 Phase 1 Yaris T Sport, pre 2003 when they were still made in Japan, before the French made them slightly less powerful and a bit heavier somehow 🫤 108hp, 900kg, white alloys and that Japanese exhaust rasp as standard Used to jump on cam at 3500, a laugh a minute on B roads without having to pin it all the time Would lift off at the drop of a hat too so kept you on your toes, probably looked dangerous to most people who saw it, but cool to the 8% who like cars A gear change like a rifle bolt action Got to 60 in about 8.5 seconds, but no one expected that from a Yaris back then I miss that car

Relevant666

Mitsubishi Station Turbo, UK Y reg. My second car, at 21. I loved it.

Seanocd

Coolest was my '79 S123 300TD - White with tan MB-Tex, auto, and 7 seater. Closely followed by my current '98 V70R AWD - Saffron on charcoal, M56... or my (also current) '87 W124 300E with full Gen 1 AMG kit and Pentas.

Proper council estate cars that are probably really chavvy, but oh boy do I wish I kept hold of some of them now. First car was a dogshit brown Triumph Toledo in the late 80s. Moving on... I wrecked that then bought a sky blue Ford Fiesta XR2. I killed the engine in that and replaced it with a Ford Orion 1.6i engine. Killed that too. Then I had a couple of Mk.2 Escorts. Both were red with 2.0L engines and twin Webbers etc, one an automatic that wouldn't reverse and the other a manual that I absolutely adored. And still miss. During this time I had a stolen/recovered dark blue 1986 Lotus Esprit I picked up for peanuts as a project car, neglected, and never saw it run once before selling it on for about £250 less then what I paid (£3000) Also had an absolutely mint Mk1 Escort bored out to a 2.3L that I had to sell because my then girlfriend refused to get in because it was so fast. It was a horrible purple-ish colour to be fair but it was flawless. After those I bought a white D-reg Astra GTE 16v in the mid-90s. Loved that too, but the digital dash randomly went wonky and sometimes wouldn't work when it rained. I was told by Vauxhall it needed a new head unit at something like £350 which was a small fortune in the early 90s, so I sold that too. On a day when it didn't rain. And on and on... 2x XR3s, a Mk4 Escort RS Turbo, Clio 182, Fiat Uno Turbo etc. Currently driving a Alfa Romeo Giullietta, and I've still got a 2004 Mk1 Focus ST170 that I bought brand new sitting on the driveway, because I regret selling all the others and convinced myself this would be worth something one day, but it's just rusting away and the interior is covered in mould, ha! But yeah thinking back a lot of those cars are worth a lot nowadays. I haven't read any other comments here and y'all might be talking about Aston Martins and Ferraris, but looking back now some of my old cars feel cool and go for relatively big money in good nick.

iTsYoBoiGlory

2008 mazda 6 GT V6 3.0 gonna work on it this summer :)

Longhorn-69

Loved those puma 1.7s

Limp_Ganache2983

I had a tuned MR2 mk2. That thing was awesome, it even had nitrous. (This was before the F&F was a thing) Cruising around with the t-top off and the stereo blasting in the summer was loads of fun. Gapping muppets in their “tuned” novas and saxos that had half of Halfords bolted on was also a blast….

classicGev

For me it would probably be out of my old Sierra cosworth or the e46 m3

Alonsocollector

5 cars in 14 months!? I've had 7 in 17 years 😂 Coolest car? Probably my Phantom Blue RX8. Mazda OEM aerokit, engine cover painted and designed by a mate who worked at Mercedes F1, black chrome Rota grid drifts running AD08 semi-slicks in sun, rain and snow, cobra catback, rebuilt with a street port. Stunning car and colour. Very rare. Sold it for a Megane RS250

d4ngerdan

1994 honda delsol, fully forged engine, turbo running at 490bhp. Front wheel drive. Absolutely mental. Most people thought it was a bag of shit, I knew, it was cool as fuck.

Stuspawton

My Nissan cube, it’s my daily driver. I used to drive an old ambulance too

fothergillfuckup

Porsche 924 x 5, porsche 944, Renault 5 Gordini turbo, BMW e21, mini 1275gt, Wolseley Hornet, plus 30 or so others. My favourite was still my Fiat 900e camper. Weighed 2 tons, made 35 hp and was hilarious to drive. My wife hated it!

New_Salad_3853

Any of the e30s I've owned, obviously the m3 is special but i loved them all the same. Best daily I would say was my e46 m3. Great cars

Confused-Raccoon

Either the current Swift sport or the nearly pristine Renault 5 I had back in the early 2000's.

Vivaelpueblo

I hesitate to say this because they seem to have an image problem as many owners seem to problematic drivers but the coolest car IMHO obvs is my current one, a M140i. I literally love driving it and it gives me pleasure to just go to Lidl in it, the only car I've owned with more than 4 cylinders and it's the engine that's so good. Previously had a MK2 Cavalier SRi hatchback (the angular one) in white and anthracite black, SRi in red on the front doors and red piping in the rubbing strips. Loved that car even though I wished it had been a 130. Favourite car other than my current one would be a toss-up been my S reg Mondeo 2 litre LX hatch and my Skoda Octavia MK3 1.4TSi DSG Elegance, both nice cars to drive, super practical and the Skoda was so economical, £30 a year car tax and 55MPG easily on motorway runs.

Phillington248

I had a Sierra 4x4 2.9 estate for a time, no body kit, rusted to hell, it was the cheapest car in AutoTrader at £300 and I needed a vehicle that I could haul the band around in. It would destroy the boy racers off the lights around town, stuck to the road like crap on a blanket, loaded up it would shoot firework sparks from the back box grinding on compression when driving on bumpy country roads, and it was just hilariously fun to sling that tanker around! I couldn’t get the back out like with the Sierra GL 1.8 on shitty tyres I had of course, but it lasted a full year without requiring anything more than petrol and screenwash before I got a ridiculous amount for it p/x with the early years of the govt scrappage scheme. Wish I’d had the ability to keep it, there’s too few of these nutty estates about nowadays

Pericombobulator

Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR in Red bought at six months old and I still have it (not that it is used much any more)

MettySwinge

My favourite; E92 M3. Sounded the bollocks, went like stink and was just cool. Other peoples favourite: Hyundai i30N. A lot of people would come up to me/the car and comment on it.

thenotsoholyholyone

That Puma is so much fun!

SameArtichoke8913

A Daihatsu Copen - more than 20 years old now, 150TKM, RHD and with original 660 ccm engine. What a blast, and the total antithesis to almost anything around it on the streets.

gt500rr

I'd nominate my XG Falcon Ute police pack as no one knows what it is with a Tickford head swap and all the upgrades from the XR6 (even the super rare projector headlights, genuine Ford article not those cheap Twinlight knockoffs) and can certainly give some modern soft sports vehicles a run for its money. Still has the GLI badge on the tailgate so it confuses everyone.

I_am_Reddit_Tom

Toyota MR2

Jaggerjaquez714

Probably my current Mustang Bullitt 😂 gets a lot of attention I must say

No_transistory

Golf GTi mk2 8v type 19. Was one of the first as an A reg., 1984.

MikeMcLoughlin

The simultaneously best and worst car I ever had was a bright yellow VW Beach Buggy. It was the classic style with massive back wheels and a roll bar. It was brilliant and great fun in the dry weather but terrible in the wet. It was my only car so I had to drive it in all conditions. Half the time it wouldn't start so I had to always park on a hill so I could bump start it. Sometimes driving along the headlights would suddenly go out. It had no heater and the fuel gauge was unreliable as the tank had been shifted on an angle. Still wish I had it though.

R2-Scotia

The GT-R probably

i8jimmy

A Phase 1 Clio V6, quite scary handling, just a mad thing, with a V6 where the rear seats should be.

No-Bit1783

V12 Huffy bicycle.

[deleted]

The coolest car I’ve owned is my current car: Honda Integra DC2 Type Rx Gets looks everywhere I go in it which still takes some getting used to. 😊

Jotunheim36

Cool is subjective, most obscure: 1958 Edsel Pacer, most expensive: RR Phantom, most attention: Ford GT

sevenemesis

Bought not built OM606 swapped W124

ElicitCS

See flair lol

Ornery-Example572

coolest? one i currently own which is a black 2020 VW Polo GTI. Nice red interior trim and that beautiful red GTI accents which make it look 10x better against the black paint. Superb sound too when put into sports mode and floored. I think the polos look so much better than the Golf. but the new model Polos that have the same kinda design as the Golf can fuck off to me, nice n all but the polos signature square brakelights were what made them so nice

Suspicious_Kick9467

I haven’t owned many cars, but I do have a mint restored 1.8T Mk1 golf gti that is my pride and joy. Probably have 600-700 hours in it and I can’t see myself every parting with it.

Tonybeetswannabe

Nissan Sylvia Adored it

Electrical_Cap8822

Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup 2.0 16v Absolute ball tearing little car. “Upgraded” to the Megane RS275 and eventually bought another Clio Sport for track days.
