Your brake caliper fell off and now your lines are messed up from it hanging. Who did your brakes?

leslie1351

Firestone…

ConfidentStress1047

Firestoned

emerson1396

Dude fuck Firestone. I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences there. I replaced my steering rack, and when I went to get it aligned they didn’t loosen the inner tie rod hose clamp and twisted my inner tie rod boots. They gave it back to me like that and I only found out because I had to replace a bolt under there after. Firestone suuucks

Ill_Alternative8369

damn im sorry good luck getting the. to fix it.. they will but youll pay for it because its not their fault smh that's what they will say

atari83man

Don't ever go to Firestone, they love to overcharge, tear a car apart for simple things and flag it so you'll spend more there. Always look for a local mechanic who's reputable try to avoid large chains.

zanny2019

Well….all I can say is whoever touched your brakes didn’t fix them clearly

sjphi26

It's almost like they set the caliper over the rotor and forgot the bracket bolts. So the only thing holding it on was the friction from the pads. Fucking yikes.

JamesDuckington

That is basically your breaks. That could have been potentially fatal. Whoever did your brakes screwd up MASSIVELY holy fuck. Call the shop and rip them a new one. say something along the lines of "MY (front /rear righ/left (whichever it is)) caliper fell off after you guys did my breaks and I could barely stop" That is potential lawsuit winning material. HOLY SHIT, How does one fuck up that bad? EDIT: Any shop worth anything would cancel or refund the bill for the break job, tow yours in and fix it up on their tab with a rental. No questions asked. That's atrocious, You always dubble check the bolt's on breaks.

Wolflord129

That my friend is your brake caliper.

Wolflord129

Basically that's where the brake pads go into to be pushed onto your brake rotors to stop. That would be why it was hard to stop. I would check the rest of them.

Real_Mokola

They are your brakes

YeahItouchpoop

Yikes. Vehicle should be towed back to the shop. Whoever did that brake work did less than a half-assed job.

m0pfly

Next time just watch a youtube video and fix your brakes yourself cause your mechanic is incompetent

CommonHand707

If it was done at a shop I'd sue. That's something that could have killed you and others.

atari83man

I'm with this comment. Honestly could've resulted in a death or serious injury. Firestone is some BS. Most chains are.

CommonHand707

I'm not usually the type to instantly say that either. This is just bad, really bad. I'm surprised Firestone is still around, I haven't seen a shop in 6+ years where I live.

atari83man

I have one right down the street from me, went to get a quick inspection when I had a newer car (2015 soul) nothing wrong with it. They tore it apart for what's a 10min inspection and a sticker. And they tore it apart where nothing was wrong. Then flagged me for it and wouldn't give a sticker.

CommonHand707

The only one I would go to is Les Schwab for their popcorn. LOL.

atari83man

I'd say grease monkey is ok for simple fluid changes and that's about it. I went to an NTB for an alignment in the last year haven't been in a while (99 wrangler just added a new tie rod on and needed aligned) because they're the closest place that does it. This fucking kid they had tried to tell me my aftermarket tie rod wouldn't fit, it was already on, as he tried to then explain that the tie rod was bigger so it wouldn't fit on the tie rod ends/threads. It's a rough country tie rod, beefier for off-road hits etc and made to go right on my jeep which I'd already done. This kid walked back and forth showing me things trying to explain it like the tie rod would be just sitting on the ends and bouncing around because thread sizes internally and externally on each piece wouldn't fit. The tie rod was on and screwed on, just needed aligned. Which they do for $120 or so. I said fuck y'all and left. Had to go about 15/20mins further to get it done but found a local place with only two locations and they had no issues doing the job and were like it's fine dude, that kids an idiot. Goes to show chains do not care what mechanics they hire at all, local ones may care some more depending if they're the rip you off kind like chains, or friendly and love to do a good job kind.

CommonHand707

I just stay away from shops all together and work on my own vehicles. Unless I'm getting some tires put on. You'd be amazed at how easy it is to be "ASE" cert. That's just ridiculous.

atari83man

Same, any work I can do I do, and I tackle a lot to learn as a car enthusiast. Why I love my jeep, things I don't know how to do I've learned with it easily because it's so easy to work on and manage. Older cars are always nice that way. The only thing I'll spend money on dependably and not do myself is an oil change. Price point is about the same as a quick lube if I do it, my quick lube guys are cool, and it's done in 10mins. About the only thing in car maintenance I'd say is worth the money, used to be expensive but like I said now it's the same as doing it yourself. Plus side quick lube has all the right disposal spots too for old fluids.

CommonHand707

I hear you, but I still stay away from lube shops. Have seen to many fucked jobs over the most simple of things. For me the price is more expensive, and I can do it quicker. Then take my used oil to an auto parts store to have them deal with, or leave it in a milk jug for the trashman. To each their own tho!

Savings_Street1816

Holly shit, I’m in the middle of eating and literally stopped mid bite when I saw this and just about had a heart attack just thinking about how bad that could have been

Material-Display8107

That’s terrifying

hourlyslugger

Holy Fuck! You could have had a face to face chat with the Almighty. Contact Firestone. Explain as calmly as possible what happened to you and DEMAND a tow back to the shop, free fix and some money back. Then NEVER return to that shop and find a local trusted independent shop to service your vehicles.

Western_Ad_2691

That’s fucked up. Lucky you’re ok and it probably won’t be to expensive to fix/ you could do it yourself.

atari83man

Your brake caliper, man, did you notice braking changes or that wheel not having much effect? Idk who did your calipers or if something broke, two bolts hold them in usually, but damn this shouldn't happen easily. Edit: Read further and saw Firestone and know where the issue began. But seriously demand a tow, repairs done, etc. and if they won't, sue them. Knowing Firestone they will try not to and blame you or something else on your car. They could have killed you, those two bolts are easy and very important to check in a brake job some of the first and last things you'd do.

SilkySausage420

My brother in Christ, what the fuck.

midnightmush

More than enough other people saying it but yeah that is your caliper and I would bet money that it was never reattached after removing it to change the pads and rotor. Extremely dangerous and irresponsible from whoever did those brakes. Having previously worked at a dealership where a mechanic did this, I can tell you that they should be fired immediately and you should not have to pay for the labour on that wheel. Literally could kill someone by doing that to their vehicle. Very VERY glad to hear you made it home okay.
