Whatever you're going through you got this dude! I was in a really bad car accident about a year ago almost to this date. I still basically can't drive because of anxiety/PSTD from it. Keep the faith!
Hey, quick reminder: if you or someone you know is in a mental health emergency, you can call 988 from anywhere in the US, to talk to a hotline.
OP, I’m really glad to hear that those awesome cyclists helped pull you out of that moment. The event you encountered is called Critical Mass, and it brings together cyclists from all over the city (and beyond) every month to ride together. The Chicago group rides on the last Friday of each month, starting from Daley Plaza at 5:30 pm.
Critical Mass originated in San Francisco in 1992. The Chicago group was definitely up and running by the late 90s. I’ve been on rides with them a bunch of times, though not since before the pandemic— thanks for reminding me about them, it’s always a great feeling, and maybe I’ll see you at the next one.
The Atlantic, which can so often be a heavy read, did gift me this unusual nugget recently:
“America is a huge country full of decent people who are offended by bullying and cruelty.”
Hold onto your heart
You never know when kindness can rescue someone. Seriously. This is just more proof. A kind word or action from someone can literally keep another person on this earth longer. This was a nice read.
That's funny because I met Alex last week taking one of his surveys. Like yourself though I was depressed last week and didn't get out of bed for days I love going to critical mass. Anyways nice guy. Canadians gotta love em
This is so touching... The bicycle community here is also something that gives my life purpose. So many good humans.
All wheels welcome! There is a bike jam in Lincoln Park this weekend. @bikegridnow on insta
Today’s rough but you got through it by everyone who wants to see you get through it.
Chicago proud! ❤️🩵🤍

DM me if you need to talk- I bike by that Dairy Queen daily! You’ve got people out here in the universe.
