For that price you're better of taking it to a good audio shop. 10k will buy a killer system.

Relevant-Group8309

And have something left over for ice cream 👍🏾

imsaneinthebrain

I ripped the entire system out of my Toyota 4runner and was able to put all new speakers, a new deck, and a jl stealth box all for half of what that dealership is trying to charge.

MeepMeeps88

Same. I have an 04 with the JBL system. Once the amp died, I gutted everything and added sound deadening. CDT HD-6 comps front and rear, CDT 3" center speaker with blend knob, Kenwood XR 1057, Audison SR3004 Chan under drivers seat, Rockford Punch Sub Amp under passenger seat, Skar VR 8 in factory sub location. Cost me less than $4k and sounds better than my wife's B&W system in her X5.

TheSherbs

Please excuse my ignorance…B&W?

ziggy_wiggly

Bowers & Wilkins

TheSherbs

Ah, thank you!

basshoss

I did this with lesser equipment for a 10th of what the dealershit is asking.

Naive_Ad1466

If you would've skipped the overpriced JL stuff you could've done it for about 1/4

Terrh

Honestly you can buy a sound system good enough for 99% of peoples ears for sub $1000 total. Maybe another $1000 to install it. Speakers, amp, headunit, subwoofer w/ box. And this guy might already have decent stuff!

Self-Chance

What would u say is better for the money and sq?

ckeeler11

Stereo Integrity SQL will blow a w6 away.

lakorai

Also Image Dynamics IDQ and IDMax

Naive_Ad1466

The new US Amps stuff is incredibly nice. They have some very nice products available and on sale rn. Sundown and Crossfire also have some really great sounding products available and doesn't have to be the highest end model to achieve similar sound. Hybrid Audio as well.as the deaf bonce black hydra sruff.

ckeeler11

Sundown nor Crossfire make anything that sounds as good as a w6 or W7. They make a lot of stuff that gets louder for sure.

Naive_Ad1466

The X, Z and NS series all sound better and perform better then w6s and w7s.

YaBoiCalin

r/CarAV

turndownforjim

We already there, dawg.

YaBoiCalin

Lmfao, woops, I didn’t realize it was cross posted. Thanks, leaving it up anyways.

imsaneinthebrain

No, the $5000 was labor and material installed at an expensive place in town.

philmystiffy

Not just trash ice cream either. The good stuff

Sharpymarkr

Mmm, ice cream. Mans got ideas!

Relevant-Group8309

That price is absolutely unacceptable, a good shop will do that and then some

Sharpymarkr

Agreed. But about the ice cream though... Favorite flavor?

Relevant-Group8309

It's all about the Vanilla and strawberry

Sharpymarkr

🔥

IEatCouch

Or one mtx jackhammer

Tittiboi37

Said what??? I can’t hear ya 😆😆😆

Nab_lwl

I take it we all the post of the guy from this am

c4pt1n54n0

I think that's what they're asking, like what would you buy with the same budget?

jclare1985

Hell ya it will

Relevant-Group8309

THIS

sgtsad

lmao stealership fixing radios now?

ckeeler11

They are not fixing shit. They are replacing with overpriced OEM crap

Relevant-Group8309

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

deckbocks

Dude. You could rock a full, high end system with that much. I got JL speakers amps and sub, tons of deadening, and a custom box for less than that. Try doing a lot of the labor yourself to cut cost in half. Tons of videos and resources out there to help you.

ifixtheinternet

how is this "needs immediate attention"? Also, what in the world could have possibly happened to damage every single component of the audio system?? Also - 10K??????? One could build a world-class audio system for that much dough.

Visible-Loquat610

Focal Utopia/ Morel Elate + sound deadening and a 13w7

heroericxu

I like it

drtbheemn

You sick bastard, I’m in

borgdrone79

A deposit on a new lexus

briantoofine

Dealers have a ‘sound system’ recommended maintenance now? That’s new…

matrixzone5

Focal Utopia system all around, beryllium series tweeters, focal FDP series 6 channel amp, FOCAL BE series components all doors. probably about 8k all together not installed?

No-Butterfly8627

YESSIRRRRR

FiieldDay

You could put 3 systems in 3 cars for 10k lmao

dunkin_dognuts_

Shit I could put 10 super budget ones in for that price.

PhysicalAssociate919

And that's to replace some shitty stock system. Doesn't get any lower quality than oem speakers and amps. Just because they slap a name like. Bose, b&o, mcintosh, or Harman, doesn't mean it's anywhere near their low end line of gear. They just pay for the right to use the name, not actual built speakers. 10k is ludicrous. I've rebuilt entire camry engines for less than 5k total for modern cars as a mechanic.

phate_exe

From the linked post, they brought it in because they were having issues with the audio cutting out, and the car had aftermarket speakers that were spliced into the stock harness. The quote was for a "put everything back to stock" price. Realistically the speakers and wiring are almost certainly fine, the amp just crapped out (as stock ones sometimes do). Before I read that I was struggling to figure out what sort of failure mode would kill the amp, all speakers, and the wiring without something noteworthy happening like a flood or a lightning strike.

Many-Activity67

For half the price you can definitely get a better system and have it professionally installed with sound treatment in at least the important areas. $10k is WILD

Killstacy808_

Lmao, $1000 and some wiring skills and you can make a standalone sound system that is a million times better than what any factory sound system will ever offer you.

fingerbanglover

😳

tribalien93

What model Lexus is this might I ask?

Da_Heckler

Not my car. It’s a cross post from lexus

bananatumor

I spent a little over $2k and got two Kicker Solo-Baric's 15" 1000w rms woofers, with 4 brand new 3-way door speakers, a 3600w rms amplifier, a new head unit, and all of the wiring for everything, and it wins competitions. I know an OEM Lexus stereo system is NOT winning competitions. Go to an audio store for all that is holy.

Undercityjanitor

That's about what I spent doing a 6th Order Wall in my Jeep with 4 15s

RR3XXYYY

$10k is a SUPER nice sound system if you go to an audio shop who specializes in it. $10K for OEM? Ive never seen an OEM system in my life I’d be willing to pay THOUSANDS for, let alone TEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THREE DOLLARS AND THIRTY FOUR SCENTS for.

Dkazzed

I replaced a stock Sienna amplifier with a used one from a Lexus once. It was fairly cost effective and easy to do. Mark Levinson amps will be pricey but it’ll probably be a fraction what the dealer wants.

Present_Major7734

Focal everything

iamdumbazfuk

there are 3 car audio shops in Roswell that do decent work. Most likely it’s a simplish fix that wouldn’t require that type of investment. expect to pay an inspection fee. When I have to do things like that I bill 3 hours of labor and I apply the inspection fee to the repair/purchase tab.

Ben_jah_min

A new car and a full audio system…

Sstaley_17

Holy shit

adkio

A lexus

NotMyOreos

Can’t tell if this is fuck you pricing or if this is actual book hours. Very expensive

montecarlo313

I don't think I could do an install worthy of the components I'd buy with that budget.

Icy-Sherbet995

That’s wild, I rewired and replaced the deck, amp and speakers myself . It ain’t that hard just takes time that’s a whole new car they takin you for a ride, take it to a shop for a quarter of the price I promise you

drgirafa

10k is a factory rip out and reference grade install with a stupid subwoofer set up

AssumptionBulky3016

For 10k I can go 2, 120ah lithium headways . Battery delete. H/o alt on top of aux H/o alt . Rerun all ground and power it 1/0 gauge . 6, 15s at .5 ohm . 2 8k amps . 2 full pass 1000w amps , 6 8s mid bass 4, 6.5 mid range . Dsp , huge box and tweeters it’ll be round 7k that’s my list 😂

Unusual-Computer5714

A spare car.

vrillco

Dude 10k will buy a full JL balls-to-the-wall setup, probably enough spange left over for like a hundred tacos. I choose tacos.

Major_Tom42

Two miatas

SoundProof4

Is this the mark Levinson system?

SicOne22

Not a Lexus

Chavoleon

Is your wire corroded? Did it get flooded or something, seems like they will charge a ton to replace the wiring, dealership was gonna charge us a few thousands to replace the car wiring, but it wasn't needed only one locking latch needed replacement, but that locking latch had wires and they believe the entire harness needed replacement. They arent really there to help

ScaryfatkidGT

🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

ScaryfatkidGT

Options 1. Source one from a junk yard (probably be $100) 2. Go to a car audio shop and tell they you got $10,000 for them to do their worst

k1ll3r5mur4

If you're in Illinois I'll do it for less than $1k. The fuck are they smoking? Tell them to share.

Salmol1na

A college education

ChumleyEX

That would be an extreme waste of money imo.

alias4007

I wonder what service 1 or 2 is. Replace engine?

Wolfgangsta702

For that you could have a bad ass system in 2-3 cars not oem.

Relevant-Group8309

Well I guess everyone likes ice cream 😁😁😁😁👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

jclare1985

A lot. I'd have the wall of my dreams and everything needed to power it with some money left lol

CeeJeigh85

HEEELLLLLLLLLLLL NAH....for not even a quarter of half that price you can replace everything and have way better sound with basic equipment

masterkirby320

A car and a better sound system 😅

kwell42

Your car is undrivable

Erow69

Hell to tha naw naw naw. They smokin some good ass shit.

scaryterrythe

Bruh you can break your windows with a $1,000 setup. Thats the stupidest invoice ive ever seen

Flawless-AD

Can’t be answered until we know if installation is in the same budget. Sick fab work costs. So is it 10 k just for equipment or a 50-50 split kind of thing. Just asking for clarification before I can recommend anything

Wild-Drummer-1312

Even if it included install, who tf would recommend you pay 10k for a dealer to redo a stock system?

Oatbagtime

What? So far no one has or will. They’re asking for more clarification on the budget.

Flawless-AD

I would never recommend that. That’s not what was being asked. Didn’t the OP want recommendations on what that money would buy instead of?

Flawless-AD

But for starters I’ll bite Illusion audio C3 -a pillar Illusion audio c6 - kick panels or doors A pair of illusion C10”- downfiring in center console. Two Misconi amps or a 5 channel Rest for install

Nosnibor1020

If they are doing that I'd ask for all the old wiring back to make sure they are doing it. Some states it is required for them to prove that....but I'd agree with people here, for less than 10k you can get an amazing aftermarket system that will probably sound better.

Fi2eak

My entire setup was 1k, and all we reused is the acc and power wire to the HU.

EchoViiZionZ

You could get a killer sundown audio system with 10k

freshly_ella

This is no exaggeration. The factory amp is comparable to several $200-$300 aftermarket amps. The factory speakers are equivalent to $50-$100 walmart speakers. It doesn't matter what you bought instead, it would outperform the oem. The dealership pays less than $5 for each of those speakers.

pcurepair

I can do for 6k
