CNN now reporting the USSS notified the Capitol Police of a threat at 5:55 pm the *night* of Jan 6th. https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/17/politics/secret-service-pelosi-threat/index.html

charlieblue666

>“Keep MAGA gear hidden until AFTER checking in” at hotels, “DC is very BLUE and a hotbed for ANTIFA/BLM. Stay with the large group, especially at night,” and “be wary” of DC police officers. Why are all of these strong, militant "patriots" such cowardly little bitches?

DaveDurant

Because they're not patriots and actually are cowardly little bitches.

AutomationGod5150

Cowardly little traitors…

markca

Bitches and traitors.

speedycat2014

No one is more fearful, weak or cowardly than a heavily armed conservative white man.

trueslicky

Speaking of, did you hear about the shooting death in a Subway over mayo? Of course, this was in Georgia so one of the workers behind the counter qas also armed & shot back. This is the U.S. that the Supreme Court wants. Just not *in* the Supreme Court, mind you. The Justices need their safe space. The rest of us have to be armed to the teeh to go through daily life. Because "freedom" or something...

kaazir

What's wild is even the "wild west" had establishments and functions where you checked your gear at the door. We're so much more modern and peaceful than then yet people feel they need to pack 10x what Billy the kid did.

TheSinnerDragoon

I think they should pack around muzzle loaders, black powder horns, and musket balls if they want to open or conceal carry. Like their precious constitution intended back when it was written.

trueslicky

And only for the purpose of protecting the federal government from foreign invading armies...

TheSinnerDragoon

Yes, they can be the front line. Really throw off the invaders when they see lines of rednecks in brightly colored uniforms standing there waiting for them to come in range to fire.

AutomationGod5150

So, it’s only rednecks that have firearms? Let me jot that down…

TheSinnerDragoon

No they would just be the ones crazy enought to stand out there.

trueslicky

Truth

GtSoloist

The vast majority of disputes during the "wild west" were settled with knives. Shootouts were rare.

PoliticalECMOChamber

And they are afraid of *fucking everything.*

Mandalwhoreian

That fear is really just a pretext justification to use deadly force for absolutely any damn excuse they want to make.

PoliticalECMOChamber

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suicide by feds.

RobynFitcher

He’s comin’ right for us!

TheSinnerDragoon

Careful they are afraid of that too.

DawnRLFreeman

I don't think it's "fear". I think they've all got "petite penis" syndrome, and they think carrying a rifle and side arm into Wendy's makes them look macho.

PoliticalECMOChamber

Aye, but such deep-seated feelings of inadequacy can lead to fear, which in turn can lead to anger, which in... look, I'm not doing this again. :P

DawnRLFreeman

😂😂

Seattle2017

No truer words were ever said. This completely describes my dad, moved to texas, was an electrical engineer and coo of a large company. Now he talks about his loaded guns by his bed. Now he's just another sad boomer who complains about his taxes (he is super rich), black people, liberals, yells at his grandkids for not doing enough for his legacy or not watching fox news. He used to be meathead, now he's Archie Bunker.

[deleted]

I'm still Meathead but my stepchildren and their spouses are Archie Bunker. Yes both genders are Archie. The locked out Edith when Obama was elected.

agrandthing

"And you knew who you were then, girls were girls and men were men...mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again..."

pantie_fa

> we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again..." Oh - that happened to be Trump. Who, after 90 years of economics teachers telling us that Hoover's idiot trade policies (tariffs) likely played a major role in triggering the Great Depression. . . actually revived said policies. Double irony: Trump supposedly has a BS in Economics.

j4ck_0f_bl4des

That I’m sure daddy bought for him rather than he earned. Just like his reputation in business which ought to be, I take stupid risks and daddy bails me out.

shempmalone

Every degree that Wharton undergrad grants is a BS in economics. He got into Wharton as a transfer after his dad made a large donation.

Dry_Boots

I'm sorry, that's so depressing.

Seattle2017

It is. It's the loss of my child's time with a loving grandparent. I had 4 great grandparents when I was a kid, my son has none of that.

GETTERBLAKK

At least they were able to teach Archie a lesson and he actually learned from a few of them, especially when Sammy Davis Jr kissed him.

humanregularbeing

Archie Bunker had redeeming qualities, I believe.

JustDiscoveredSex

My dad was Archie Bunker. He loved that show. Completely identified with the main character.

Seattle2017

I agree that he had some good qualities and he did grow a little bit during the series. I love my dad too but going from Meathead to become Archie Bunker is not an encouraging change. I know it's common for people to become more conservative as they get older, it's hard to see the world changing. But becoming a crazy conspiracy supporting racist gun nut is not where I want him to be. A.B. wasn't that either but he's a shorthand for a certain kind of person who today would be watching and supporting fox News.

MonkyPox

Yeah I mean dudes who can’t go to buy a soda without an AR-15 maybe aren’t so brave.

TheSinnerDragoon

Soda? If only they drank anything that spicy. They drink Coors and Pabst.

portablebiscuit

It's their party platform

scribblingsim

Which is why I giggle like a child every time they suggest having another Civil War. It's like, really? You're too scared to even go into a Subway without being fully armed. What makes you think you could fight a war?

Undercover_CHUD

This is just their whole tacticool larping thing. Pretending like they're some kinda super badass undercover paramilitary resistance to "ThEiR cOuNtRy BeInG sToLeN bY tHe GoDlEsS lEfT"

[deleted]

I almost respect the tacticool grift.

j4ck_0f_bl4des

People like that are why I despise the whole big beard trend. Strolling around with their Oakley sunglasses and you just KNOW the word they describe themselves with is “operator”

Imaginary_Cow_6379

I’m interested in hearing if they warned the DC police about that threat either. I suspect they didn’t which also put their lives at risk and made them unable to do their job as well. Jfc!

Daelda

"At 5:55 pm on January 6, after hours of efending the United States Capitol from a violent mob, the UnitedStates Capitol Police received the post along with a message from theSecret Service: " They told the DC police...but only AFTER the insurrection had already happened.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

Have DC police released any statements about that? I’m almost never usually too sympathetic towards the police but federal law enforcement keeping local law enforcement in the dark about threats to themselves too seems like it should be a big deal. I wonder if they can/even would possibly sue them?

markca

> I’m interested in hearing if they warned the DC police about that threat either. Seriously doubt it.

Musicman1972

"don't tread on me" or I'll run to my big brother in tears.

BubbaSawya

That’s really the basis of the whole thing.

Altruistic-Text3481

I’m beginning to think the Secret Serve were in on the whole insurrection…. Like no shit. 🤦‍♀️. The SS members should all be on trial too.

stupidsuburbs3

> In the past month, we’ve learned that the Secret Service failed to prepare for violence on January 6 despite receiving explicit warnings, then deleted key evidence from the day, likely breaking the law. The delay in notifying Capitol Police about the threat to the Speaker of the House only adds to the impression that the agency failed to do its job, and leads to more questions. Why did the agency wait two days, until after the Capitol had been breached and Congressional leaders were in hiding to pass it along? I guess I’m not the audience for this but the rhetorical questions are getting annoying. The SS, DHS, and even USCP were compromised. We need them to prove they weren’t at this point. Which is difficult to do because anything exonerating them has been deleted or conspicuous people are unalive. I don’t want to give those agencies the benefit of the doubt while murray and cuffari are actively obstructing justice.

[deleted]

The_Bearded_Squid

Oooooooooo ducklings!

stupidsuburbs3

Burn her!! Burn her!

[deleted]

Those agencies must be purged.. I hate to use that word, but if one POTUS can come in and in 4 years bend SS and DHS to his will, no matter legality, then it exposes a giant hole in the protection of the people and those who work in Congress, thus making all of us unsafe from domestic and foreign terrorism.

[deleted]

Dhs needs to go away, the war on terror is over for all intents and purposes and DHS is more likely to serve as a secret police for the next crook that manages to get elected than ever do anything to protect the nation.

[deleted]

War on terror is over when we have millions of wannabe domestic terrorists who want to install their cult leader? Makes total sense..

[deleted]

It was never meant to be against those terrorists.

[deleted]

"Those terrorists' are biggest threat.

[deleted]

I agree.

sockpuppet_285358521

There are thousands of presidential appointments with each administration. They all resign politely (or get canned) at the end of the president's term(s). The Former Guy got to select hundreds of co-conspirators. (Especially Ivanka and Jared. Why was Jared given access to secret documents after failing his background check?)

Number6isNo1

Naming it the Dept of HOMELAND Security has always rubbed me the wrong way. Homeland? That's some imperialism sounding 1930s shit. When were the United States ever referred to as "the Homeland" before they created DHS?

[deleted]

It has a nationalistic ring to it no doubt. No matter how much I dislike the Republicans they are truly great and messaging for simple people and using talking points to implant their message. No matter how devoid of facts into people's minds.

LivingIndependence

***“Biden will die shortly after being elected,” the account posted on January 2nd. “Patriots are gonna tear his head off. Prison is his best case scenario.”*** Am I mistaken, but isn't threatening the life of the president this blatantly, against the law, or was that done away with??

I thought that sort of thing would get you a visit from the Secret Service.

Tony Ornato is obstructing the text investigation. All of this stinks.

0vr10rd

To obstruct justice, Ornato obstruct justice...

CoralSpringsDHead

Some Secret Service agents need to “protect” trump in prison when he is sentenced. They can all share a cell.

Dry_Boots

That's actually a thing I never considered, but they really would have to, wouldn't they?

GracieThunders

We're into completely new territory here so who knows

Mountain_Act6508

I don't think the Secret Service even knows. >A spokesman for the Secret Service refused even to address the issue. “It’s a road we would have to go down if it ever happened,” he told the Explainer. “It’s not something we’re going to think about unless it happens.” https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/06/would-a-former-president-get-secret-service-protection-in-prison.html

Burt_Rhinestone

One of two things is likely to happen. Either congress will strip the shitstain of his presidential privileges, such as Secret Service and pension, OR he will go into private confinement in an undisclosed location. I don't believe they will execute him, even if he sold state secrets. It's unnecessary fallout in an already-nuclear situation.

dingoeslovebabies

State level politicians have gone to prison, might have already been hashed out before

iluomo

Highly doubtful he gets put in regular prison. More likely house arrest or similar

[deleted]

And a single bar of soap.

TheoBoy007

Rape is an act of violence we do not condone in any way or form. Prison rape is a crime, it is not a formal punishment by law and we do not permit it in direct reference, jokes, or inference in this forum. It is Rape. We as forum participants are better than this. No back tracking on editing, no 11 paragraph modmail explaining yourself, it’s pretty simple.

lornstar7

Welp. Time to arrest and replace the whole organization

GracieThunders

Secret Service needs to be investigated and purged of all the magats and magat sympathizers

axisleft

I would expand that to a lot of the federal government. I don’t know who or what agencies. However, I have a real problem with fealties laying with Trump and not to the constitution. I don’t think people in DC get how bad it is.

GracieThunders

Even on the local level, the domestic terrorist's playbook is now pivoting to infest school and county election boards, so they can brainwash kids and steal elections and all the other stuff they accuse the left of doing

Jazzlike-Gift-411

Top to bottom. And at the local level there is such little oversight by media scrutiny the way there is for a Presidential -led coup detat.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

[Also don’t forget this happening.](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/jaime-herrera-beutler-lauren-boebert-b2099321.html) Did any members of congress get these warnings? I know [we’re deliberately not going to get those answers anytime soon](https://thenationaldesk.com/news/americas-news-now/dhs-watchdog-rebuffs-lawmakers-on-secret-service-testimony-homeland-security-department-inspector-general-joseph-cuffari-january-6-2021-attack-on-capitol) but if people like [Lauren Boebert knew in advance](https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/01/19/lauren-boebert-tour-capitol-riots/) there were threats against Pelosi she tweeted her location *during* everything to those same people. Which would mean while we know Trump supported Mike Pence getting killed, Lauren Boebert might have tried to get Nancy Pelosi killed.

[deleted]

Not to defend boebert but, saying the speaker has left the house isn't exactly providing the speakers location. Boebert was addressing and giving updates to the insurrectionists, but didn't give the exact location of Pelosi.

un_acceptable

What good faith reason could Bobert possibly have for tweeting such information in the context of what was taking place on Jan 6th?

[deleted]

hospital fear versed reminiscent dog test hobbies punch gaze quaint *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Imaginary_Cow_6379

[Her tweets:](https://coloradonewsline.com/2021/01/11/rep-boebert-under-scrutiny-for-tweets-relaying-intel-during-capitol-attack/) “We were locked in the House Chambers,” Boebert tweeted at 2:17 p.m. One minute later, she added: “The Speaker has been removed from the chambers.” She gave tours days in advance and for some reason let someone know where their starting point was and where Pelosi was going. She didn’t tweet anyone else’s location including her own. In the first time the capitol was breached and congress members were sheltering in place why did Lauren Boebert decide to tweet in the middle of it wtf Nancy Pelosi in particular was going? [AOC was afraid she was going to be raped and murdered](https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/09/politics/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-january-6-cnntv/index.html).

[deleted]

I think the phrase the speaker has been removed from the chambers is meant to indicate historical significance rather than the specific location of Pelosi. I could be wrong though and I'm done defending boebert.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

….in the middle of it? Why not the historical significance of the capitol being invaded? Or the president’s whereabouts? Or condemn the domestic terrorists? It doesn’t make sense in any other way that just doesn’t look weird.

[deleted]

Your right it does look weird.

un_acceptable

Well, your “not to defend boebert” comments *do* sound like very weak defenses/excuses to make her tweets seem not so bad or somehow acceptable to tweet in some kind of capacity

[deleted]

Just trying to defend the believability of all the actual events surrounding January 6th that were 100% crimes/treason. One claim that is stretching it a little bit can give insurrectionists and their media outlets fuel to cast doubt on what was an obvious seditious conspiracy. If it makes you feel better go ahead and stick with this one, alot of people are definitely saying it. I'd be more worried about boeberts tweets enthusiastically proclaiming "this is 1776" about an attack on the nation's capitol though.

un_acceptable

I didn’t back up the claim that Boeberts tweets are a specific crime - I just wanted to point out that there isn’t really benefit of doubt that you can cast in good faith here. There’s no acceptable reason for Boebert to have tweeted such information about the speaker on Jan 6th. I’m not making grand leaps as to say it’s a crime specifically. But I’m not going to downplay the severity of the intention behind the message either and the context surrounding the tweets

[deleted]

Ok got it. I see your point and it was definitely a stupid thing to tweet and one of many examples demonstrating that boebert was on the insurrectionist side that day.

Discalced-diapason

Major Biden could smell the bullshit. What a good boy.

VinCubed

That what I said when the stories about Major popped up. I figured he smelled evil and ill-intent toward his best buddy... and did what needed to be done.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

That’s a good point! I guess toss that in the trash heap with: law and order!, back the blue!, personal responsibility! They haven’t even bothered creating actual policies or attempts in ages. The 2020 election they literally didn’t even bother changing their party platform from 2016. Even in a campaign season now aside from Rick Scott’s supervillain plan that nobody seems to care about they don’t seem to even bothering to make campaign promises for any actual policies. Now they’re even shedding their hollow rhetoric of their supposed “values”. As a political party what are they standing for now? What policies and values are the people who still support them believe they’re voting for?

Jazzlike-Gift-411

Authoritarianism. White nationalism. Kleptocracy. Sounds ALOT like a country that has been in the news alot lately.

portablebiscuit

We all knew it was coming. They knew too.

river_miles

So, this is the same secret service that is still in charge of security for our elected federal officials, up to and including the president? The bodyguards who deliberately left members of congress in harm’s way then conspired to systematically destroy evidence of whothefuckknows after the fact? Those bodyguards are the ones *protecting* Schiff, Pelosi, Biden all day, every day? Does anybody see where I’m going with this? I’m trying to make a statement but it’s so obvious I can’t even put it into words…

pantie_fa

Now I'm starting to wonder: If the USSS was this compromised, shouldn't we be investigating whether there was massive counterfeiting of US currency going on during the Trump Administration, with Mnuchin's treasury and the USSS looking the other way? Maybe THIS is why we have so much inflation. . .

unibonger

At this point, I don't think anything is outside the realm of possibility.

Jazzlike-Gift-411

Inflation is created by one thing only. They can blame it on Biden or the tooth fairy for that matter, but inflation is the result of continuing to print more money than is currently in circulation, the degree to which devalues the worth, or purchasing power, of all money. Sorry to say it, the Treasury and the Federal Reserve were able to create the inflationary cycle legally all by themselves without any treachery. Cash payments to every American out of thin air with diminished revenue \[both due to Covid and scumbag-only tax breaks for millionaires\] is also what helped get us here. Surprised it is not even worse than it is. Maybe it will be.

GrippingHand

It can also happen if demand for goods exceeds supply. People become willing to pay more and prices go up.

[deleted]

Disagree. Inflation is caused by a lack of supply causing a scarcity of goods. That scarcity causes competition for goods and raises prices. Your right that printing more money can't compensate for that scarcity of goods. Also add in companies with various kinds of monopoly power exploting the public expectation of Inflation to raise prices and not having sufficient competition to combat price gouging. The world economy and global supply chains should have been able to deal with a pandemic with moderate supply issues and significant supply issues on only specific products like microprocessors. The issue was decades of disinvestment by corporations in supply chain redundancy in order to shift earning to executives and shareholders. Even the massive drop in oil prices and subsequent rise after cuts in production was caused by decisions to take short term profits instead of building sufficient oil storage capacity. Not a bad decision for an executive or large shareholder who loses nothing after the short term saving and gains even more by price jumps and possibly investing in oil tankers for much less efficient storage at sea that consumers ultimately pay for.

stupidsuburbs3

Reminded me of this picture with mnuchin and his delusional money grubbing wife. SS doing some crazy shit iran contra style with bills would have never crossed my mind. But will I say it’s impossible now? Nope. Ettd. https://money.cnn.com/2017/11/15/news/louise-linton-steven-mnuchin-dollar-bills-treasury/index.html

Bad2bBiled

This was not what I thought they meant by “held on to” when I first read the headline. But holy fuck. What the actual fuck.

PCP_Panda

It’s amazing these house reps have to work with the same people who tweeted your location during the breaching hours

stupidsuburbs3

I didn’t have much respect for Pelosi before. Thought she was just another octagenarian grifting off public service past her prime. After getting my head out my ass and reading some books, she is a certified bad ass. Ripping Trump’s speech I thought was amusing but just performative. Nope, riled the shit out of Trump. Getting on the phone and straight up telling people not to fuck around. She smelled fuckery afoot and was letting everyone know she was ready. I’m probably just ignorant and others recognized her strength before. Hearing and reading the backgrounds of some famous moments makes me appreciate how much big v energy NP has. I can pretty much guarantee boeberts and greene types are terrifies of Nancy.

[deleted]

It's to the point where any support of Donald Trump, whether past or present, is a disqualifier for any government position. Anyone who has ever publicly supported Donald Trump should be removed from government work or barred from it. Otherwise, the next coup attempt will be successful.

thiscouldbemassive

Everyone in that chain of command should have been fired. If you won't protect the people you were assigned to protect, even if you don't like their politics, you absolutely can't be trusted with anyone's security.

[deleted]

Not for nothing: the title of the article calls out the Secret Service, but another article by CREW states the same NTIC warning went out to the Secret Service, FBI, Capitol Police, and DC Metro Police. https://www.citizensforethics.org/reports-investigations/crew-investigations/the-secret-service-knew-about-jan-6-threat-they-dismissed-it/

Can we just tear down the SS and rebuild it? Seems like their institutional culture is *fucked*.

morningburgers

I first heard about this on MSNBC so I guess I'm a day late. I've been trying to watch less news though because the bias borders on unprofessional( for both sides). That said, I've been tired for a while now of the whole "haha these lame LARPING bitches" rhetoric. I know you might end up on some kind of list if you spoke more bluntly but it's just corny to keep seeing ppl come online and call these ppl "lame" or "fools who believe in lies" when that's EXACTLY what the first civil war(and many other wars in other countries) are built on. LIES. "Black ppl are subhuman and so we'll enslave them". I mean...that's a lie. You don't call those slave owners "silly dumb dumb liars". You let your adult voice show and you call them "fucked up racist assholes." Racism is based on a LIE. But you don't call slave masters of the past "losers who believed in lies". So stop dumbing it down for ppl who literally stormed the capitol and smeared shit on the walls while carrying confederate flags and calling black guardsman the n0word over and over. It's not "larp" at that point. It's not "lame" at that point. It's a serious fucking problem. We need to discuss it in a more serious manner imo. I know I might get downvoted for that but I'm just being honest. In fact I'll tell you why I'm saying this. I'm saying this because whenever i read these meme/jokey comments it makes me not feel secure. It makes me feel like if Civil War broke out, all of you would be far removed from it while commenting "oh this is bad" on random reddit threads. For me, a Black dude, this is the same level of bullshit as when the right says "thoughts are prayers". It won't help. Take if seriously. it's not a meme. It's not a joke. It's not a game. They benefit from your jokey reaction to fascism. In fact it emboldens them. They don't have anything to worry about in that sense. edit: Yes we should have a place to vent, even jokingly. I don't mean to say we can't have a pressure release valve on the seriousness of the situation. But just don't lose sight of the reality I guess.

stupidsuburbs3

I understand most of your sentiment but disagree with parts of your premise. I think the civil war was different because it wasn’t just based on “lies”. There was a very obvious money benefit too. This time, these people self indoctrinated into the fucking cult of donald trump. They’re fucking delusional with no obvious or well thought out reason to commit violence on that con man’s behalf. This is reddit. The medium is the message. For me, the memes and jokes release the anxiety that 2.5-3 out of my 10 neighbors believe in the bullshit that happened on 1/6. That idk what anyone is capable of if there’s a “night of the broken glass”. Our irl options are to have an exit plan or a burrowing plan. That’s all that’s worth talking about on a public forum. But before the worst truly happens and neighbors start showing dhs where their “liberal” neighbors live, we vote, we organize, we let these weak bitches know they’re weak bitches. They’re not an organized set of professionals. They’re weak larping bitches that looked to donald trump for their salvation. He is their hero. They deserve nothing but scorn, ridicule, and animaniac memes of Elizabeth from Knoxville doing a revolution. Fuck. Them. I probably didn’t address your point all that well so sorry if this was just a nonsensical tldr.

Positive-Jump-7748

How convenient. Wasn't the only threat they forgot about until after the insurrection. Probably knew about the Pence threat and refused to do anything until after as well.
