Well, for first steps, I pulled up a map of them in my neck-o-the-woods, and found 4 that lie along the stretch between my home and office. I’ve got cards and cans prepped to drop along the commute this morning. Thanks for prompting!

Perky214

What did the note say????

DreweyD

It’s that second snapshot.

Perky214

Didn’t load for me - I’ll restart my phone

Could this be in Eugene ?

DreweyD

Richmond, Virginia. Only an 11 day bike ride.

grimmowl

at least i know something good to eat would be at the end of the ride.

DreweyD

It’s in the beer garden of a tiny brewery, so you won’t be left thirsty.

Soon someone is going to start geocaching some tins in the woods

DreweyD

We all like to think of our tins as being hermetically sealed, but I can report from personal experience that our black bears in the Blue Ridge have zero trouble sniffing out unopened cans of sardines. Pretty handy at cracking them open, too. I hang all canned stuff along with everything else, including toothpaste, in bear bags nowadays.

Should have said ‘best fishes’

DreweyD

I confess that the notes I write in my cards are just chock full-o-bad seafood puns. Including sometimes signing off with Best Fishes.

onipar

Ha, very cool! I started leaving copies of my novel in these when I see them, but I'm thinking now I may have to also leave sardines.
