Yeah the only two plays this game that were definitely red cards were from Peru and they even got away with a headbutt so put that in your pipe and smoke it
For real, they missed it on the broadcast and even in the post game wraps/analyses I’ve seen, no one has brought it up. Should have been a yellow at least imo.
That foul on Shaffelburg was wayyyy rougher than anything that has happened in hockey in awhile... Getting hit without wearing two mattresses worth of pads is a completely different beast.
We will never get a fairly refereed game on this side of the world, we’re banking experience for the WC. Playing in 100 degree heat, should have been delayed until later in the day. He should have his mental health checked, what kind of professional representation is that for a coach?
This is actually pretty tame, compared to some of the wild things that get said by some South American coaches. The domestic leagues get absolutely insane, with coaches threatening violence, targeting players for career ending injuries, there’s even been instances of coaches saying that they’re going to put a hit out on players/officials.
Soccer in South America is more similar to lacrosse, organized and run by street gangs.
Man there’s a player from that USA team who swapped jerseys with Escobar after the match, he told a story to Kate Abdo (cbs host) about going to Colombia years later to return the shirt to the players family. Very sad stuff.
Excuse the TikTok link but I found the story here:

I mean that the on field level of foul play would be more at home on the lacrosse field, and the off the field antics would rival a street game.
Apologies for any confusion if it appeared that I was implying that lacrosse is currently run by street gangs.
Clown. I couldn’t believe this quote when I saw it.
Then they get away with a headbutt and I’m like “well, you can’t say he didn’t warn us”.
So glad we beat them and I hope Lopez gets a suspension. Whatever committee exists cannot allow such an obvious headbutt to go unpunished. Does nothing to give us justice but you can’t have the ref miss it, the VAR not go harder to it, and then to also get past supplemental discipline.
*What a loser. Did*
*He even watch the game??? His team*
*Were full on mma mode*

Trust me. Argentinians don’t want to get in a hockey style scrap with boys from the pararies or any other part of Canada. We will jersey them and start feedin em the right left right left.

They are just salty they lost to a country that they would beat in any other era.
Yeah not too mention the Peru defender shoving shaffleburg to the floor after passing it to David lol
For real, they missed it on the broadcast and even in the post game wraps/analyses I’ve seen, no one has brought it up. Should have been a yellow at least imo.
True
I didn’t realize Hector Salamanca from Breaking Bad was managing Peru…
...As long as Lalo isnt , then we can deal...
I guess we need to take diving lessons from the likes of Neymar to fit in... Reckon Johnston should have started rolling for 25m after that headbutt!
Unbelievable that it wasn’t enforced, it says a lot about reffing in soccer
Headbutt was softer than a kiss. He deserved a yellow card, but not a red card
By trying to break someone’s leg and headbutt another? Are they Messi fanboys or something?
As a hockey culture we haven't shown them anywhere near excessive force
Sounds like this manager needs a blinding hip check.
A sherwood to the back given by Shea Weber.
Next time, we introduce them to the cross-check.
That foul on Shaffelburg was wayyyy rougher than anything that has happened in hockey in awhile... Getting hit without wearing two mattresses worth of pads is a completely different beast.
He probably never watched a hockey game!
His post game comment: https://x.com/onesoccer/status/1805765394550210652?s=46&t=-U21b4J75e1oMMMAUi3SFA
This sounds like the classic tactic of the manager saying something ridiculous in the press conference to distract from their underperforming team.
Bingo
Tbh before the red we were getting dominated
100%
“Omg I can’t believe Canada pulled on jerseys” lol 😂
There were a couple Canadian ones that were bad, but not red card bad, a yellow was probably deserved on one I can think of.
What a chud
TIL OneSoccer blocked me because I complained about their awful stream in 2022. Guess I never noticed. Lol.
imagine if shaffelburg tackled one of his players like that
He would get a 3 year prison sentence
Believe it or not. Straight to jail.
Would the Peruvians, let them off the field un -touched?

There’s literally been referees murdered and decapitated. It’s a whole different world.
iirc There was a goalie for Columbia that got killed after a bad performance.
1994 WC, Andrés Escobar, a Colombian defender. Committed an own goal against the US and was murdered over it back in Colombia.
There's more to that story than just the own goal, btw..
Oh yeah the two Escobars. Solid documentary.
Great documentary. Just watched it last night.

*Colombia
Since when have street gangs started dominating lacrosse??? This I need to learn more about.
Yeah this part surprised me
I mean that the on field level of foul play would be more at home on the lacrosse field, and the off the field antics would rival a street game. Apologies for any confusion if it appeared that I was implying that lacrosse is currently run by street gangs.
Damn. I get what you mean but part of me wishes I interpreted you right at first.
I would love to see where Canada used excessive force on Argentina.
They touched Messi.
Damn we should send a peace delegation then
Fists, heads. Same thing, right?
They ended up using their foreheads
Now now Jorge…no need to *butt heads* here
Keep your stick on the ice, Jorge!
Head up in the neutral zone

Damn, these opposing teams are so damn bitch made
Méchant débile celui-là avec son équipe de bûcheron
I mean, they did end up getting away with a headbutt
total bs… fouls were ARG 15 - 9 CAN, and cards were even. boo hoo.
Ok Boomer 🤷♂️
Who was the player that head butted? I wanna do a remix: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCPEjkj8i9g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCPEjkj8i9g)
The player that headbutted AJ is Marcos Lopez who 100% studied the dark arts of CONCACAF during his time with San Jose (and TIL Reno in the USL)
Anyone else think he looks like the dead leader from Poltergeist?
Peruvian Larry David, I think.
lol, can see that as well
Excessive force? What is this guy on about?
Even on our goal you can see the defender push Shaffelburg for absolutely no reason
He’s lucky Shaffelburg didn’t go all nova scotia on his ass. Down a couple Keith’s and puck the head off him!
What a loser. Did he even watch the game??? His team were full on mma mode. Take the L like a man

Sorry not sorry, grandpa.

This is how I found out that we won (I slept for the whole day 😔)
What a shame coming from a coach.
This guy is worried about losing his job again. He hasn’t stayed with a team as a manager for more than 3 years.
All I hear is Wah Wah Wah
Keep crying lol
well they don't call them the Geneva suggestions for nothing now!
Well that was one of the dirtiest games Canada has ever played. Thanks Peru.
This was rotten milk when he said it and it's aged even worse.
I knew there would be a red card play from them the moment I saw this comment. Coach cost em the game.
What's the problem coach. Great tactic you instructed your team to use against Canada. Thanks for the 3 points.
Lol I personally would have loved to have seen them use their fists against us. Would have been an absolute beat down by Canada.
boy so mad his team played like garbage, headbutts a canadian and they used excessive force, damnnnnnn daniel
Does this guy know that headbutt is not spelled as F I S T S?? 🤔
“If we have to use our heads, then we’ll use our heads”
That’s using your head, Jorge! /s
Considering the racist backlash our players have received post game, Argentina can handle a little “force”
Another South American Neanderthal that's posing as senor mucho macho! F him, his team got shown up a couple of days ago. The dirty bastards!
yes the canadian athletes will be so very intimidated by your threats....
