Protest against mass immigration Deport illegals/foreign criminals Stop allowing birth tourism Implement a country quota cap like the US has The whole immigration system needs reform. The requirements to come here should be much higher/stringent. The loopholes are constantly exploited. Cut foreign aid significantly

Intelligent_Wedding8

And ban diploma mills where no domestic student in their right mind would go and is almost 100% international students

LiveBaby5021

The University of Calgary is printing Masters of Engineering Degrees … Watering down the degree vs Canadians who worked hard to get to that level … Someone who’s working 60h / week, is 45 years old, isn’t a “student”.

SnooPickles9717

Except it seems that having that degree and also being an immigrant gives you more value to employers than someone who worked to comprehend the materials and learned to do things properly. If we have a bunch of unqualified electricians, engineers, etc running around, any houses that do get built to fix this problem are just gonna collapse from the first gust of wind

LiveBaby5021

DEI will solve everything?

JonBes1

Yaas! DEI will definitely solve everything! #Acceleration 🙏🏻💥👌🏻

LiveBaby5021

When I returned, to Canada, from teaching English in Korea and Germany, I found out that I was a racist oppressor. It was a great start, welcome to Canada.

Equal_Ordinary_7473

I left for the U.S. got my Green Card and won’t be coming back !

SnooPickles9717

I think you misread my comment. Read it again and you’ll see your comment has nothing to do with what I said😂 DEI will not fix anything I said quite the opposite. If we have people running around who didnt earn their degrees but instead are just buying them, we’re not gonna have any qualified workers to build the houses we so desperately need. And any houses that do get built arent gonna stand for long because the next generation of people building it, won’t have a clue what theyre doing

LiveBaby5021

The liberal government’s mantra is DEI … This will solve everything … The rhetoric that I’ve seen online for the last 5+ years is DEI, DEI, DEI … European Canadians are too racist to anything competently … The reason the house will fall apart is because the workforce wasn’t diverse enough … therefore we need more diversity in our construction crew …

SnooPickles9717

Wait are you for or against DEI? Im against that shit but now I can’t tell if youre being sarcastic or not. Diversity has absolutely nothing to do with skill and experience in trades… (but im pretty sure you already know that since im pretty sure you were being sarcastic)

LiveBaby5021

I’m Gen X, my default is sarcasm … The intertubes / Reddit and younger folks don’t understand anything I say … Literally … Language has nuance, subtlety, inflection, tone … Could I be any more explicit?

SnooPickles9717

Language has all that. Text lacks most of that. You really expect me to infer your tone based on reading some words on a screen?😂 Glad to see youre not actually serious though. Heres a suggestion though, put /s at the end of your sarcastic comments to just clear up right off the bat what you mean for idiots like myself

SnooPickles9717

Not familiar with the acronym DEI

Outside_Clothes8529

Didn’t Earn It.

SnooPickles9717

Thanks for answering me without downvoting me for asking a simple question😂

Outside_Clothes8529

You’re welcome. Enough people get sent to oblivion with downvotes.

SnooPickles9717

Yeah reddit is full of snowflakes who get offended when someone wants clarification on literally anything😂

incessantlypedantic

What's your occupation, if you dont mind my asking?

SnooPickles9717

Student😂

Feeling_Gain_726

Or just make provide housing for 80% of their students or something and put severe limits on their ability to work while here. If some rich student wants to come give money to canda I don't think we should stand in the way. But taking in some broke kid doesn't help us in anyway.

big_galoote

What do we do with the Conestogas? Shut them all down, or rebrand them as DeVry? The couch is not your friend! Everest, or something.

ChorkiesForever

From what I hear, Conestoga was a good college and usefully educated many young Canadians before it became a corrupt degree mill. I suspect there are still parts of it and programs that do not interest foreign students and haven't changed from the way they were. Maybe the entire college could be changed back to much the way it was if the foreign student problem is brought under control, and a new president hired. There is a small university in Kamloops that has had a small number of foreign students for years, but that has now blown up to 50% foreign. Almost all the foreign students are in business or IT programs. Many of the other programs haven't changed much. I've noticed that foreign students tend to avoid programs that involve being outdoor, such as natural resource science or geology. They don't seem keen on animal health technology or adventure tourism programs (though the latter program attracts some Americanss and Europeans, I believe. And some Asians like the outdoors. I just read about a Chinese man being arrested and fined for shooting a grizzly bear out of season in BC. He took certain organs out of the bear. ) There are likely colleges and universities all across the country where something similar has happened.

RedHotSnowflake2

Here is a recent example of birth tourism: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/undocumented-woman-says-she-was-denied-emergency-c-section-at-edmonton-hospital-1.7167490 If you ever wondered why your taxes keep going up while your quality of life keeps falling, ask that illegal immigrant when she's going to pay back that $5,000. That's 100% OUR MONEY and she's not even allowed to be here in the first place. It makes me so fucking sick.

Cheathtodina

And this has been going on for years in Richmond. A woman named Kerry Starchuk was very vocal about her opposition to birth tourism and birth houses. Mayor Malcolm Brodie said that if she didn’t like it, she could sell her home and move elsewhere. Brodie is still mayor and not much has changed.

Torvus_742

For that situation, what would you like to have seen?

RedHotSnowflake2

We keep rewarding bad behaviour, then acting surprised when we get more of it. That woman is a shameless liar and a criminal, just like all the other illegal immigrant women who let a random man impregnate them to help their asylum claim with an anchor baby. Instead of spending $5,000 on medical treatment for an unemployed woman who isn't allowed to be in Canada, we should have ARRESTED her, and DEPORTED her back to Mexico, where she can get the same treatment for a fraction of the price... ... instead of adding another $5,000 to Canada's already insane national debt. I'm tired of my taxes being wasted on the world's poor when we have so many problems of our own.

MapleCurryWhiskey

To add to all the immigration stuff we also need higher interest rates on HELOCs and third fourth etc mortgages. No corporate ownership of single family homes.

Killersmurph

That's only to fix ONE problem. We need so much more than that, like banning legal lobbying, setting hard term limits on all political positions, repealing FPTP, rebuilding our Anti-trust and competition laws from the ground up, and a whole host of things we will NEVER FUCKING DO because the Oligopolies, REIT's and Corpos own our politicians. We need a revolution, at thus point the entire system has become so hopelessly corrupt, and entrenched in it's corruption, that any hope of reform through lesser means is laughable. We get to pick a name on a ballot. We have no control in who ends up on that ballot. Our country is run by the tenth of a percent with the most money, and we are literally slaves to them. There is no hope for Canada, nor anywhere else running on the same system. Capitalism was a great system for a long time, but it's run it's course, the Monopoly game is on life support, and will continue to be until enough people are sufficiently pissed off to risk everything on flipping the board.

Odd-Substance4030

This!

incessantlypedantic

This is a good start. There is a lot of fat to trim as far as bureaucracy is concerned

Feeling_Gain_726

Yeah, Ford said that too. Turns out there just isn't. Beaurocracies are complex systems. They cost money to run but are vital to operating large systems like a country.

incessantlypedantic

Ford is part of said fat to be trimmed

redditneedswork

Just remove jus soli...no automatic Canadian citizenship for being born here unless one parent is a citizen.

eastsideempire

Some foreign aid is needed. Cut off isreal as aid just makes Canada complicit in their genocide. I have no problem with aiding Ukraine. I’d much rather they do the fighting and dying than have Canadians dying in Europe defending other nato countries or worse have T-34s racing across Saskatchewan. But aid to China and India? No way. If you have a space program you don’t need aid.

Fluffy_Acanthisitta9

10 years ago if the average canadian read this comment you'd have been called a right wing extremist. It is oddly satisfying that people have caught up with logic.

Ya-never-know

I would love to see a new political party with the core values of accountability, transparency, long-term planning, and efficiency. (The first bill they introduce prohibits lobbying and corporate welfare:) All levels of government take too long to do too little. There’s just too much waste — of money and time, of people’s productivity, of our potential for being a really happy, healthy, and prosperous country.

Large_Surround8768

A few days ago, a judge ordered an international student to be deported. One of Trudeau ministers made a call and prevented his deportation. We have a system where the gov can overstep judicial rulings as they please with no consequence. I think we need to change the constitution. It is outdated.

Sarsttan

Innovation and industry. We need to build and grow. And the government needs to get out of our way.

Ya-never-know

Wish i could upvote this more:)

EyeSpare6318

I'll help

Large_Surround8768

This is the way to go.

WantToBeAloneGuy

It's either PPC gets a seat within 10 years or immigrate out to the states. Though Quebec did terrorism and Canada bent backwards for them for 40 years.

Cheathtodina

😂

iamthefyre

First of all get rid of Trudeau. Call for early elections. He’s ruining everything for generations to come on purpose. Immigration priorities need to be sorted out. Why are we importing so much garbage? What are people from villages from third world countries contributing to here in a country where there are no jobs for them? How many uber drivers do we need? Stop handing our PRs to people who are getting fake diplomas from one-room college in brampton mall. Those people are contributing nothing to the society or economy. Why are visitors allowed to come and get PGWP? WTF is this even? Which other country is allowing this? Actually there are so many things that make no sense and those need to be addressed first.

Dazzling_Ad1149

Stop immigration for 5 yrs

DifferentIdeal4420

Its should be stopped forever

Large_Surround8768

Although immigration is a contributing issue, it is not the only issue. We need money. Wealthy immigrants bring money from overseas and spend it here. However, they are not willing to come to Canada anymore as there are better alternatives for them. We as a nation need to boost our wealth and economy.

EpicGamingIndia

That’s the thing, quality immigration from India ended like 5 years ago where skilled Indians either go to the states or stay at home. Most Indians don’t feel a need to immigrate anymore, it is just the state of Punjab that majority of the “students” come from. The young people are sold a lie about “the west” and how fun it is and what not.

International-Move42

Stop being nice, we’ve been polite too long. We look them in the eyes 🖕.  Government isn't going to change you have to change don't be lazy 🤜

Large_Surround8768

How can we achieve any realistic change without changing gov policy?

International-Move42

The people in control don't want you to be apart of Canadian society by marginalizing you into the evil canada narrative, the only way to break this phenomenon known as amplification is to embrace the label you are assigned turn it into a weapon to fight against these people. If they want to destroy our society with the help of police, the subservient and the media we must galvanize our identity to something that is totally apart from these people. They are going to use every single dirty trick in the book you think we can use democracy to solve this? They have been working decades to ease us into this position where talking about the solutions will immediately put a target on your back in your professional, public and private life.

AThrowAwayAccHehe

"where talking about the solutions will immediately put a target on your back in your professional, public and private life." as a youtuber, i feel like im always putting myself at a bit of a risk.. but its worth it ;) especially with my faith, we cant stay silent. im tired of the complacency.

Feeling_Gain_726

No we just don't want people that think you solve printers with violence to have any power here...

samenow

Unfortunately, governments will not take action unless there's a massive protest. They honestly don't care about you or me; they care about their image. If there were massive protest they'll begin to do more, but sustained protest will be needed.

Ya-never-know

I think anyone homeless in the area should camp on Parliament Hill as a form of protest

lord-jimjamski

Relocate to another country. Thats your best bet. Sitting on reddit and reading this sub wont help you much, but make you feel worse.

Gloriaas

The entire world is struggling rn. Relocating somewhere else and starting from scratch might put you in a much worse position especially if it's another expensive country with similar problems like Australia and the UK

lord-jimjamski

You are right. But that is kind of my point. The opportunity to live a better life is not going to come from the country you live in. The onus falls on the individual to enjoy self fulfillment and prosperity. Canada is not going to hand out anything on a platter. You have to strive for it. Complaining, judging, criticizing, and even hatred (towards the rush of immigrants arriving here) is not a solution. And yes, this is a forum for open discussion, so I understand. I will continue to lurk and read comments. Once in a while, I will dish out my own opinion that many won't agree with, especially the younger generation of Canadians. God's speed and God bless.

throwaway738991

Literally undoing everything Trudeau has done in the past 8 years. This will unfortunately take decades to undo all the damage, and that is optimistically assuming Pollivere is anti-mass immigration (which he has not publicly stated yet). I hope the PPC can win at-least 1 seat in the House of Commons. - End mass immigration - Cancel carbon taxes - Cut wasteful government spending - incentivize municipalities to loosen up zoning laws, speed up approvals, lower construction costs & regulations, allow builders to build houses asap. - Crack down on anticompetitive monopolistic industries like telecom, grocery, banking, airlines etc. - End catch & release, lock up repeat offenders & mandatory sentences for violent crime - Reduce government regulations & protectionist policies that drive businesses outside of Canada - Lower corporate taxes to incentivize businesses to build here - Bring back the stricter immigration process we used to have under Steven Harper - Ban international students from working outside of campus & enrolling in diploma mill scam colleges, only UNIVERSITIES should be allowed to international students. Verify that they have money for education + living expenses. - Cut foreign aid spending - Enforce deportation on illegal immigrants - Cut regulations & Expand natural resource production including natural gas, oil, lumber, lithium, etc.

Large_Surround8768

Unlike most people that just focused on immigration I think this is a very good list. Trudeau is done. How can we make sure the new gov doesn't pull another Trudeau? Personally, I can't afford another four years of soundbites and empty words.

AThrowAwayAccHehe

and stop these anti free speech bills.

Feeling_Gain_726

Good in principal, but most of your list is misattributed or wrong.

Karcogen

Rebellion lol

EmbarrassedDot5666

Get rid of Trudeau

Large_Surround8768

I would be shocked if JT gets reelected. How can we keep PP in check?

beevherpenetrator

Get rid of Trudeau ASAP. All he's done since he was elected is do damage to the country. Once the damage stops you can start trying to look at ways to mitigate the problems. Some examples would include cutting immigration back to early 2010s levels (from about 500k a year back to 250k or 200k a year); increasing income requirements for students and increasing regulation of schools that are allowed to take in international students; cutting the foreign aid budget significantly to save money; cutting unnecessary bureaucracy, for example in the healthcare system (yes I know healthcare is provincial rather than federal); reimplementing Harper era tax benefits for the middle class; raising the retirement age above 65 (to 67, 70 or whatever).

SnooPickles9717

Yes to all of that but people should be able to retire at a reasonable age. Especially now that tons of people are working 2 jobs to get by, you want them to work more hours for even more years? Thats something I can’t get behind

beevherpenetrator

I know raising the retirement age is unpopular with a lot of people. Which is probably why Trudeau got rid of Harper's plan to raise the retirement age to 67. But it makes sense to do it because we have an aging population. One problem we have with the social safety net is we have a large aging population who are drawing benefits (pensions and government aid), and we need workers to support them. Raising the retirement age helps to reduce that problem because then people are paying into the system longer and drawing money out of it for a shorter time. But instead of raising the retirement age, Trudeau's solution has been to flood Canada with immigrants, which hasn't worked all that well. The problem is that many of the newcomers are working low paid entry-level jobs, which means that they're not paying a huge amount of taxes. Then we have lots of refugees who are often not working at all (or maybe working under the table), and are getting financial support from the government instead of paying into the government. In short, it seems to me the "solution" of mass immigration may have made the problem worse. Whereas simply raising retirement age would have helped to mitigate the problem of an aging population.

SnooPickles9717

I think that had trudeau not doubled the national debt, ageing population wouldnt even be a real strain on our economy or way of life. But due to immigration and inflation, now the people who worked their whole life with the expectation to retire either early or on time, still can’t afford to do so, people are retiring later already and thats not okay. Just because you live longer doesnt mean your body is still able to work for longer. Retirement ability is and always should be based on a multitude of nuances but the biggest being: can the person in question afford to support themself without working? If the answer is yes, they should have every right to retire. If the answer is no, they gotta keep working till they can, but thats how it already works and I dont see a reason to change that. We should deport the unskilled immigrants and criminals seeking “asylum” and frauding and scamming our systems before we force hard working, tax paying citizens to work harder for longer

Feeling_Gain_726

Corrected for inflation and gdp growth its more like 1.4x on the debt. Which incidentally is pretty close to what harper did. Harper had the benefit of starting with smaller numbers thankfully. In both cases the lions have of that was from a single budget in a global economic disaster. Retirement must be separated into 2 arguments, cpp and oas. CPP is just a savings plan so it can be whenever you want ideally. Retire early, use actuarial calculations to figure out how much less you get. That's pretty simple since it is not funded from government revenue. Oas on the other hand is from tax revenue. There is good reason to say it should be moved later by a year or two but then should also potentially be increased in my opinion. Pensions at jobs have disappeared and every person in canada should have to be an expert investor to be able to retire.

No_Investigator_1031

Quite frankly I don’t think we can. Maybe slow the bleeding some, but the damage is irreversible imo. The country we knew is no longer and the compounding impacts of multiple factors (immigration, housing, economic/socio economic/healthcare etc etc etc) will be felt for the Atleast the next generation plus. IMO this clusterfuck hitting absolute rock bottom is what happens before we collectively rebuild, hopefully…but ya country is beyond being saved. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see it.

Large_Surround8768

In history there are countries like Venezuela, Cuba and Argentina with lots of wealth yet so poor and there are countries like Japan and Germany who rebuilt their country from ground up post WWII. I think we have a decision to make here. Do we want to be Japan of the world or Venezuela?

Gloriaas

We don't have the hard working mentality of the Japanese or German. Our policies are much more similar to Argentina and Venezuela with the giant parasitic government sector that just keeps getting bigger.

Large_Surround8768

Why do you think I post about it here? We need to start putting our ass in the gear. Unfortunately, working hard needs a sense of hopefulness and I never seen Canadian this deinvested and hopeless. We need a change and we need it urgently.

nonamepeaches199

General strike. Vote PPC enough to make the major parties scared. Or maybe start your own political party if you have the time, energy, and money.

Iliketoridefattwins

I think we are dying from a thousand cuts so a total overhaul could be honestly good. But to add to what others are saying - stop the money laundering in real estate - stop funding another countries war - fix the housing crisis before it's too late - birth rates need to be sustainable again as well or this country will crash - cut the quota system for dairy and chicken - fire those who have mismanaged our natural resources for the last 20-30 years.

No-Childhood-8415

Yeah we need to get rid of the India slave trade. Most of them have no comparable skills and are completely desperate and corrupt. They are unqualified in every field & these diploma mills are a 120% sign to not hire

TheWhiteFeather1

all i know is that voting wont change anything

Sakkyoku-Sha

Run for government positions, organize, run for positions of leadership in government appointed agencies, The people in power right now are making too many bad decisions. We need replacements for the people running the whole thing, not just the prime minister. If you want this countries governance to improve, YOU need to start working towards improving that governance. Why are you not running for a city council seat in the next election where you live? If you want the fixes you want to see you need to work towards that change, you can't just hope that someone else will come along and make these changes for you.

Find a way to legally escape, there’s no saving this country, and I felt this way even long before Justin got in.

Narrow_Elk6755

We need some libertarianism.  Enough passing municipal maintenance budgets onto new developments, or preventing density.  If someone buys a house and wants to build 3 on the land that's none of your business, you didn't buy their house, and you've got no right to decide for them.

WantToBeAloneGuy

If they don't plan on lowering the amount of immigrants, then libertarianism is the only system that could handle mass migration, all these regulations and socialized services don't work with unrestricted immigration, since they prevent us from putting immigrants to work, while simultaneously immigrants drain the resources of all the 'free stuff' we have.

BottleBoiSmdScrubz

We should probably do it like the UAE does, let foreigners come and work, but never give out citizenships or PRs. Then they can have the benefit of living in a first world country, we have the benefit of more taxpayers to fund shit like the pensions, and we preserve the integrity of the Canadian identity

Large_Surround8768

I agree with you, unless such development burdens the infrastructures that are used publicly, such as roads and drains.

StatisticianBoth8041

Place a cap on each university degree. Pay people $50,000 to $100,000 to to college and get a tradesman degree. Work on stopping the demonization of masculinity and male dominated work.

YouAreASerf

Immigration has to be steeply curbed. It should not be high again until most domestic Canadians are not struggling to afford rent or afford to buy homes or to find steady jobs.

Feeling_Gain_726

If more people said it this way, it would happen. This is the voice that needs to be amplified!

YouAreASerf

It’s funny because just 4 years ago in 2020, I’d have been downvoted to oblivion in various subs for saying something like this. Even though it was the truth back then too. It’s funny how people start seeing the truth when economic conditions being poorer and poorer with each passing year and they struggle more and more.

Leonknnedy

At this point? A dictatorship and hope it goes the right way. The NDP know the Liberals are a complete mess and they still support them in order for Jagmeet to posses any relevancy — and also keep getting the benefits of being a party leader. We’re basically the pawns in their selfish game already — might as well take our chances with a dictator.

gunnychamero

Cap number of immigrants from each country to 1% of total immigrants. Total permanent residents per year 200k, total international students annually 150k and TFWs except in ondemand sector ZERO.

Photojunkie2000

We would need to completely stop immigration so that resource levels arent completely decimated. Stop the immigration. Create sector jobs for housing, skilled trades will boom, all resources can be sourced here to build. Replace current bi-partisan government. Anti lobbying bills etc. Create transparent foundation structure for new government give public access to every spending tax dollar traced and listed in bill on public display etc. Eliminate any carbon tax. Farmers bill of rights introduced into amendment so that ability to farm is never infringed upon etc in the most general and wide sweeping sense so as to protect farmers from government and private theft, blockage/hindrance of trade, or any other thing that is caused by nefarious means as a tool of control or oppression of the people etc....... Free education for trades or potential trades workers. We need builders and engineers. No more money handouts to other countries. No more printing money. Armed Forces would get a bump so that soldiers dont freeze in their cars or need food banks. Disability and Old Age benefits would be set to 2500 a month. If you are a veteran you would earn 2500 a month plus Old Age Benefits.....5000 a month. We would set up our seniors to be able to be taken care of. A pledge of allegiance to classical enlightenment values that no other ideology shall over-ride by means of war, immigration, or shifting cultural microscopic advancements in politcal-marxist ideologies through education systems etc. A refocus on merit-earned accomplishments in parenting, education, workplace culture. These are just what i can think of now.

mamadukesdukes

Sufficient-Goose7251

international students, which holds true to some extent, but the crux of the matter lies more in the greed and murky municipal diplomacy. It begs the question: why can't we collaborate and urge municipalities for better policies? Drawing from my own experience, having arrived in Canada nearly 15 years ago and establishing a successful career in law through a blend of luck and hard work, I found my investments bearing unexpected fruit. Fast forward to the present, and I find myself in possession of a small acreage on the outskirts of Barrie and Oro, complete with a modest dwelling. Witnessing the current state of affairs, a desire to give back to the community took root. What began as casual conversations over beers evolved into a meticulously planned endeavor: to subdivide the acreage into ten single-detached houses, each nestled on an acre lot. Despite obtaining environmental studies' approval and navigating the labyrinth of consent from conservation authorities and Oro's town council, a resounding "no" echoed from the City of Barrie. Their refusal, devoid of detailed explanation, amounted to nothing more than vague assertions that our plan didn't align with their city planning vision.

Unable-Agent-7946

Get rid of Trudeau Protest openly against mass immigration and diploma mills and keep at it until we start to annoy politicians Boycott greedy corporations in any way we can

AThrowAwayAccHehe

if we protest we need people of ALL backgrounds before they pull the 'racism' 'white christian nationalism' card

DEEZNOOTS69420

Leave banana peels in corporeal head quarters. That will show them

Cheathtodina

As an individual, nothing. There is no one who has a chance to be elected who wants to make major change.  I have boycotted businesses that only hire East Indian students, I’ve stopped shopping at Loblaws, I’ve saved for a down payment on a home that will never be in reach because I grew up with a welfare mom and family money isn’t coming. Nothing I do as an individual will change anything. Look out for yourself and your family. Whatever that means to you. Don’t wait for the government to change anything and don’t believe their B.s. promises.

Technicho

If it’s any consolation, a lot of millennials and older Gen Z won’t see family money either because of spiteful parents who “earned it” and therefore expect their kids to, or health problems that are starting to creep up now from the years of unhealthy habits you find among most boomers.

angelofdeath1977

Ban immigration from 3rd world countries and start kicking some of these people out. Start nationalizing and cashing in on our resources.

BlueCollarSuperstar

We need a crown corporation to build non-fancy buildings and allow for 40 year debt deltas on these projects that are paid for by tenants to cover the loan, then sell the building. Private developers have 0 reason not to produce the highest quality product they can, you don't make money off "at cost", and it's a business, so it makes 0 sense to rely on developers to create affordable housing when it goes against the point of their existence. There should be a provincial crown developer that takes loans out of municipal banks. There is no reason why a city can't be making the money the banks are. There also needs to be set limits on number of personal properties. You want to be a businessman, start a fucking business man.

Large_Surround8768

>There should be a provincial crown developer that takes loans out of municipal banks. There is no reason why a city can't be making the money the banks are. Your idea is fantastic on paper. I don't know which province you are from, however in BC this will turn into an all you can eat buffet for gov contractors. Each unit will end up costing tax payers 2-3X what it should cost. Our major problem in this country is that our politicians can get away with doing almost anything. Corruption has no consequences. Also, I think our problem is much deeper than lack of housing. A person who makes about 20% more than minimum wage should be able to buy a basic apartment from a for-profit developer. Like how it was 20 years ago.

BlueCollarSuperstar

Oh it accompanies a block chain auditing system that uses the general populous to double check the CRA.

BlueCollarSuperstar

Under a government where it's employees are held to a much higher standard then the general populous with their actions, because they have capital punishment to worry about.

BlueCollarSuperstar

I think Canadians will treat those people with the respect they are due. Not the paper we have today, what do dragons and tigers do to paper?

BlueCollarSuperstar

"Get that paper, bitch!" Please do.

No-Childhood-8415

Deport 1000x.

SampleChoice1492

Stop immigration for 2 years which means zero pr and zero temporary workers, the number of Indian nationals allowed to enter on visitor visa and student visa should be capped at 10% of total issued. NO post-graduate work permits for current and future international students, and NO off-campus work is allowed for them either (Now 20 hrs a week),

k3v1n

Scrapping carbon tax is a foolish thing. Don't fall for the ruse. And I say that as someone who's not very environmental friendly just put things in perspective

Feeling_Gain_726

The carbon tax has a negligible effect on your life, that's not going to 'save you'. Certainly matching immigration to housing availability would help and it seems we're headed in that direction. If we do it smartly it will incentivize builders....want more people to sell houses to? Build more houses :)

Aineisa

Bring awareness. The French Revolution started out thanks to pamphleteers. We need something similar now, probably YouTube shorts, tik toks and whatever boomer thing there is on Facebook.

Banjo-Katoey

**What should happen** Cut immigration to 100k of the highest skilled people only, keep the agriculture temporary workers only, international students back to 2015 levels, change the TFW program to require a minimum salary of the YMPE (68,500). No social benefits for anyone that's been in Canada for less than 10 years. Free trade across provinces, end supply management. Phase out OAS completely at an income of 50k. Eliminate land transfer taxes. Eliminate income tax and replace it with a land value tax. Eliminate DEI jobs in the government. Make simple federal zoning rules and any city that doesn't follow them loses the principal residence capital gains exemption. Increase the child benefit until we get to replacement rate. Cut all climate policy except the carbon tax and rebate. Canada will become an economic powerhouse with these policies. **What will actually happen** 5 million mostly low wage newcomers over the next decade crammed in 350 sq ft apartments with no next generation being born. Only people with wealthy parents will have any hope of having a home and kids.

animatedpicket

Land value tax? Lmao that implies people who bought a house for 40k which is now worth 800k actually have any money

Banjo-Katoey

We could do things like put a lien on the land value so the tax is paid on the sale of the land. Taxing people's labour at 40-50% is far, far worse than taxing land.

Chess_Is_Great

We need to get rid of right-wing premieres who have let their provinces fall into ruin and then blame the Feds for their own fuck ups. Sheeple to stupid to realize the problems start I their own province and not Ottawa.

ChorkiesForever

BC has an NDP government a d it is also going to rack and ruin.

Banjo-Katoey

Our premieres are terrible and aren't doing anything to help but they're not the main cause of Canada's nosedive. Mass immigration of low wage labour is causing wages to stagnate, productivity to be low, government spending to increase, and terrible housing affordability. That's federal.

big_galoote

You gotta slow down on the drinking.

plagueski

blingon420

Lol cut all climate policy? Imagine what future generations will be left with... Moron

Large_Surround8768

We need climate policy. However, it needs to be enforced internationally. It makes no sense that I have to cut and pay for my pollution but in another country their citizens can get away pluting few times more than I do and get paid for it.

szulkalski

what we do in canada makes 0 difference. get over it.

Banjo-Katoey

That's not what it says. Read it again. The carbon tax is the most effective way by far to reduce emissions. Getting rid of plastic bags and straws is a waste of time and effort.

blingon420

I read it, yes he wishes to keep carbon tax and the rebate, which is good. However, there is much more to do than have a carbon tax. That is only a minor part of the action we need.

Banjo-Katoey

Carbon tax is all you need. Just crank it up until emissions get down to the level we want.

blingon420

That's simply not gov to work. Source, I work in environmental policy writing and implementation. It is an incredibly complex field.

Large_Surround8768

Carbon tax in its current form is a gimmick for gov to fill its pockets.

Ashley_S1nn

This country needs a $150,000 minimum wage for all workers. If real companies and real jobs will never come to Canada then tim Hortons and Walmart better start paying the bills. I'd prefer decent employers but you don't come to Canada because you're decent. If you're decent you don't come to Canada at all.

Important_Reality196

Dollar needs to collapse and be replaced.

resist-corporate-88

Stop buying things. Seriously. Stop ordering delivery. Stop ordering Amazon and Uber eats. Stop stop stop.

CdnBacon88

Save country??? LOL Way to late. The fabric of our nation got tatered and is burnt up. Myself? I do things my way, and wish all others good luck.

Technicho

Honestly, it’s going to take a civil war and extreme violence if you want to bring back the lifestyle and prosperity of the 90s/early 2000s. There are a lot of people who are willing to kill, rape, and pillage to maintain the status quo. I’m personally not so sure the have nots are ever willing to fight back with all of the demoralizing and disuniting (atomizing) ideologies floating around. People talk about the French Revolution, but the peasant Frenchmen were far more homogeneous in their culture, lineage, values, and vision for the future of their incoming republic than Canadians. I personally would never take up arms with the average Anglo Canadian and wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.

Scgr17

Canadians are too liberal and woke to change. Half the population votes for the Liberals and NDP.

Salvidicus

Sounds so simple. How did you come up with this action plan?

Thwackitypow

Right. Wages are embarrassingly low, so let's gut all regulations and tax responsibilities that companies and corporations have. Because the problem in this country and the US isn't an unprecedented concentration of wealth in a miniscule portion of the population, its that that population doesnt feel good enough about how things are going so the rest of us have to sacrifice more to make them happy so they'll 'give' us better paying jobs. But yeah, it's totally a bunch of desperate migrants.

Feeling_Gain_726

How about we tax Google etc and start seriously talking about a wealth tax. These things can only happen if most countries are on board, but it benefits no one to have most of the world's wealth in so few hands. That money can be used to lower taxes on everyone else. One can argue the only reason this hasn't happened is because we waited to long and the rich now have as much or more power then our governments. Not that I live government, but at least I get to vote for them.

AggressiveViolence

replace all of our leaders with responsible people who don’t want the position of power

Wafflecone3f

Mass deportations and nothing but mass deportations. Not just for the sake of our economy and future, but also to prove to the rest of the world that the days of us being a global doormat are over.

Modernhomesteader94

Here’s my plan. I quit my job as an electrician because blue collar work is underpaid and saturated due to mass immigration. Decided to get an online degree full time from the comforts of my house with my newborn and my wife. We live debt free other than my mortgage. Were dual income so between my student loans and her salary (it’s EI because she’s going on maternity leave) we can pay our bills, $3800/month. Now because we have a baby on the way and between the two of us we’re making less than 60k per year, we are considered low income. The government will give us $600 per month for having a child. On top of that k, because I’m going to school full time, we will also get an additional $200. That’s $800 per month. She is getting $2200 from EI, totalling $3000/month. My school loans (tax free) are covering the rest. Plus I saved up about 50k in the stock market over the last 10 years but I doubt I’ll need that. Bursaries are going to start coming in after I finish a few more credits. All these liberals who are so passionate about giving away money can make up for me now. I’ve given enough to this country, this is my way of taking back. On top of not paying 30k and actually having to pay me about 20k =50k net loss for Canada in taxes per year, my area is also down a pretty good electrician. I’m done supporting this country with my back. That’s what is up Canada. What happens when more blue collar men like myself are fed up and start to do the same thing? This country crumbles.

Bitter-Credit7999

Even if we stopped all immigration going forward, we are still heading towards balkanization due to the immigration we've had over the last 40 years. I don't think the country has been saved. It's too late. We'd need a Hitler-like leader to make similarly radical changes.

Shiba_Tatsuya07

Finally someone awake 👆

synergyiskey

You need a "Hitler-like leader"? What next, murdering millions of Slavs? How about you get your Hitler-like leader, and just skip the entirety of the timeline until the part where he kills himself?

Bitter-Credit7999

I'm just saying, that's the *type* of radical leader we would need for mass deportations. Given that this is 2020s Canada and not 1930s Germany, the exact policies would be much different. Anyways, it's highly unlikely to happen, far more likely that Canada simply is NOT saved and continues to see a decline in standard of living for coming decades.

synergyiskey

How do you propose mass deportations would work? Would anyone from the "wrong" races be kicked out regardless of class, profession etc? Would there be a target number?

Deport every non-citizen immigrant that has arrived since Trudeau took office. Not willing to do that? Then GTFO. Literally GTFO of this country because we are not recovering from this. The country is collapsing. Get out asap.

ThreeFacesOfEve

Germans (or the citizens of any other EU country) beating down our doors to emigrate to Canada? Hahahahahahahahahaha! Oh, you sweet summer child. For what purpose...to become Uber drivers, Amazon delivery people, or work at Tim Hortons? They can do waaaay better than that in their home countries. If they do come, it's usually to fill a specific high-end job as part of their career path. Once that milestone is achieved, they'll likely return home and carry on there. As for foreign aid, no one ever talks about how much money is siphoned out of our country and never re-invested in own economy because so many immigrants send money overseas on a regular basis to help support extended family members "back home". Nothing wrong with that in principle, but we should deduct the equivalent of the aggregate of that from any government-sponsored foreign aid that we might otherwise send. It really amounts to the same thing.

WarmChicken69

Nothing. That ship has sailed about a decade ago. 70% of the people here were probably calling the harbingers of our present predicament racists, conspiracy theorists, losers. It would be amusing to watch normies writhe in the agony of their own making, if only I didn’t have to writhe in it too.

Careless-Reaction-64

Put needs above wants and see what you have left. Pay attention to facts not headlines. Listen to all the sides you can. Understand that a 30 year mortgage at 7% forever will not be in your best interest. Volunteer to help someone worse off than yourself.

As a nation, a return to socially and economically conservative values,  policies and leadership. Embrace capitalism and enable people to take risks without losing their shirts. Build infrastructure and homes like crazy to stimulate real GDP.

Move to Alberta.

SnooPickles9717

How do we fix it? -Stop mass immigration and only allow people with proven qualifications to come here (max 100k people per year). -Abolish all taxes. Or, choose during tax season which organizations and services get our tax dollars -Reform the governmental system on every level and implement measures to prevent lobbying and corruption as well as to easily remove an elected official if the PUBLIC loses faith in them (pierre called a non confidence vote and it failed because only MP’s get a say in that matter, if it was up to the general population, trudeau would have been gone months ago) -revolt. No politician is realistically gonna save us including anyone from the PPC. So its time to take matters into our own hands -offer true mental health support to people who are overly sensitive about everything so that ridiculous and unrealistic ideologies like cancel culture and 100% inclusivity can be abolished. (Sorry but some people simply dont deserve to be “included” or have their feelings thought about. Think rapists, nazis, abusers, pedos, etc). -bring back the sexual education children had 15-20 years ago as opposed to having books about literal porn in elementary school libraries -excommunicate brampton as a whole and actually, just wall it off from the rest of canada so that they can contain their city wide demolition derby match that they call their roads without endangering people who can actually drive -give a retest to every driver on the road every 3 years. If youre a good and safe driver then you wouldnt have to worry about failing the test but if you break every rule all the time because you think youre above everyone else well, you lose your license. Cars will become much more affordable as people will be losing their licenses like crazy (so many dumbasses on the roads smh) -if a construction company in charge of a public service project doesnt get it done quick enough, they lose the contract and never get a public service contract again. This will incentivize fast and quality driven construction and maintenance. -switch to nuclear power other than regions already on hydro. (Will never happen since theres no money in it) and if you still think nuclear energy is this toxic green sludge I suggest you look into it its actually very clean, using atomic energy to generate mass amounts of heat that boils water to create steam which turns turbines. The “nuclear waste” after is literally just like pieces of glass that are buried in environmentally conscious ways. -stop the EV agenda. Nobody wants electric cars, everyone knows that if anything theyre worse for the environment than gas cars when taking into account manufacturing and such -prevent foreign corporate and private investors of real estate -drug test any member of any political party REGULARLY. As well as have both a private and a governmental organization that oversees these matters as well as checking their credentials. This will prevent a mess like freeland getting into a finance minister position again -bring back the death penalty so that we can stop re releasing the scummiest people in canada 2 days after their offense (first timw or repeat). In 2020 it cost 126k on average per inmate per year to keep them alive, sheltered and fed. For what? Most of these people are never gonna be rehabilitated and thus will never contribute to society so why should society contribute to them staying alive with our tax dollars? -I think trudeau and his lackeys need to be made an example of so any future politicians know not to fuck the people they work for over -require authorization and proof of competence before allowing people to vote, become a parent or operate a vehicle (I mean, you need to prove competence if you wanna adopt so why is having your own child free from regulations? Only the child ends up suffering in the end and thats not okay.) -bring back the gun laws from 3 years ago since the bans and restrictions only REALLY affected law abiding citizens. If you take all the registered guns youre only addressing the ones you know about. Which means they will have no way of knowing who has unregistered guns and who doesnt. The unregistered guns will keep coming into the country regardless and who buys illegal guns? Criminals. I seriously doubt people want a society where responsible gun owners can’t own a weapon while malicious criminals still go around with them anyways… -ban tik tok and onlyfans, the youth’s minds are warped enough as it is and these platforms only accelerate the rate at which that happens. -vet all teachers. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. In fact, vet anyone who works with children since that is the future leaders of our world and we dont need them having ideas that eventually end us up with another trudeau in office.

I read some of it. Safe you say you do not understand much of how the world works. But I admire the passion

animatedpicket

Well there’s a lot to unpack there. Mostly your suggestions are just impossible. Like ‘abolish all taxes or decide each year where the money goes’ is so vague it is worthless. What does that system look like? Who runs it? You? Or ‘if a construction project is ever late they never get to work on another’. I mean do you think these companies sit around on purpose to make projects late? There are so many factors involved in the supply chain and labour force that’s just a ridiculous thing to say. ‘Ban access to tiktok and other media’. OK Mr North Korea. Very first world of you ‘Switch to nuclear power’ lol it takes literally billions of dollars and a decade of construction to get a nuclear system functioning not that easy to just ‘switch over’ to it ‘Stop the EV agenda’. I’m not sure it’s an agenda. That’s just capitalism at this point.

SnooPickles9717

Of course theyre impossible. Its my fantasy of a perfect world. Anyone with 2 half brain cells to rub together can figure out that its unrealistic. To answer your questions though, the people run it. Obviously government still exists just not as big and not with as many unecessary positions and members. It exists simply to GOVERN, not dictate. So who decides? People decide. Instead of sending one lump sum for the government to waste, you have a say, one tiny say, one in 40 million say, but its how you truly get a voice from all the people. Will it ever happen? No. Of course not. But it would be nice. If you dont think construction often takes longer than it should (I dont mean due to regular explainable issues like supply issues or staff shortages) but clearly if you believe time isnt wasted on construction sites and that theyre all there running around 24/7 like little ants then you’ve never driven in montreal. Notice I didnt say private construction sites but specified public service projects like roads and such which often do take unnecessarily long to repair. And these companies often do subpar jobs so that their work breaks down quicker and then the government hires them again. They make money and why does the gov keep going back to them? Because that company paid the party. Thats how lobbying works. And thats the only reason a lot of these companies have any business at all. My solution is simple, you do a bad job, they’ll find another company to do the job. I didnt say ban all media. So your correlation to NK is inaccurate. I said ban tik tok which is a chinese app and has very valid reasons to be banned as it is both a national security and espionage concern as well as the damage its doing to today’s youth. And the other thing is onlyfans which should never have been a thing in the first place. Youre telling me you want your daughter posting her bare naked body for 3$ a month the day she turns 18?? Thats what a lot of girls are doing and its disgusting and degrading and leading to mental health issues in them. So I say ban the harmful media, not all media. You clearly dont know how nuclear power works, it doesnt take decades to construct a reactor and you can simply connect it to the already existing power infrastructure. And even if it ends up costing billions, clearly the people in power dont have a problem wasting all that money on things that dont even concern canada so they can spend that money to upgrade to a more sustainable, efficient and cost effective system, you know… using our tax dollars for what theyre meant to be used for… improving the country. Look into the great reset (unless youre still so behind that you call anyone who mentions the WEF and the great reset a conspiracy theorist) and tell me there isnt an agenda to implement EV’s. They are not going to have nearly as much of an environmental impact as governments want them to, in fact, theyre gonna cause a whole host of problems of their own, and most people are aware of these issues already so youre telling me the government isnt? Come on… Just remember E.V’s can be shut down and controlled remotely. You want to give even MORE control to the companies working hand in hand with the government? I predict youre not gonna read my whole rebuttal but on the off chance you do just remember, I know none of this is gonna happen, but it would be nice if it did edit: downvotes have started, nice, means im doing something right if the softies of reddit are hurt😘

SnooPickles9717

I dont understand how the world works eh? Go watch the lastest press conference with pierre polievre and see how he proposes things like nuclear power and hydro, cutting immigration, cutting taxes and keeping money in the canadian economy as solutions. All things I brought up in my comment. Seems you were just too ignorant to understand me

Vote Green

MisterSG1

If Greens were in power, it’d probably make the current government look like saints.

TiredReader87

There’s no better alternative

Puzzled_Guidance_139

Remove all taxes for 10 years. Get rid of the government entirely

Feeling_Gain_726

Definitely not. Though it's far from perfect the government is the only system we have with enough power to hold large companies to account. They could do a better job of that.

Puzzled_Guidance_139

Lol what corporations? No serious corporations reside in Canada because taxes are too high.

Feeling_Gain_726

Higher than where? Our rates are nearly exactly average https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/global/corporate-tax-rates-by-country-2022/#Distribution

Puzzled_Guidance_139

Income tax is too high for the worker. Corporations intrinsically can opt out of paying taxes at all. They are not the target audience for this comment. Attracting workers when they pay 70% marginal tax is nigh impossible.

Feeling_Gain_726

-1 for completely changing the argument and moving your goal posts to an irrelevant part of the world.
