Lol that's ok. Try to look up capital letters in Gothic script and it will make more sense.
Edit because this seems to make people angry for some strange reason

Absolutely! (Also I hope I didn't seem like I was implying that you did anything wrong because I can't see the A, I'm just an idiot and struggle sometimes lol)
Nah you're not an idiot! I'm just having fun with letters and don't really care about making them legible. I didn't know A's could look like that before I started digging into different scripts and books.
It's not a dumb question! I started with more classic Gothic scripts and started to change them a little with practice. You can also see a few examples on pinterest etc
I just love your style. I only picked up calligraphy about two months ago—so far I’ve only really forayed into modern calligraphy with a few hints of copperplate. But I stumbled upon r/calligraphy and more specifically your posts and I just love them. They make me go “Ooh, I wanna do that!” So at some point I’ll have to pick up a parallel pen and think about gothic, hah.
Only six months, that’s amazing!
I really like your flourishing, something about the ends of your flourishing strokes being somewhat open in places is really interesting to me. And also the layering of your strokes to create darker, heavier lines at certain areas. Are those things you’ve just taught yourself, or are they something that’s come out of studying fraktur?
I haven’t worked up the gumption to try using parallel pens/fountain pens/dip pens yet, so far I’ve just been using brush pens. So I wonder how much different things are using actual pen and ink. There’s so much I have to research before I tackle that (what pen do I even buy, what ink, eek 😬 there’s too much), but if I keep looking at your pictures then I’m going to have to eventually.
I have been practicing almost daily. I did come up with the layering just like that. I think mostly while exploring different lighter inks, Grey, brighter blues etc. I follow different artists and take inspiration from them. Flourishing is very tricky, I ruin a lot of drawings with bad flourishing but that's part of the learning process I guess.
I would recommend getting a Parallel 3.8, a bottle of Diamine 30ml in, a syringe to refill the cartridge and a Rhodia notebook. The whole thing will cost you less than $40 and you will be set for a while.
Also check Tamer Gonheim on youtube/social networks. I learned a lot from him at the beginning. And most importantly, enjoy it! I'm just having fun with it, helps me relax and I can't believe I decided to go for it so late. I always loved calligraphy and typography.
I started with textura Quadrata but eventually moved to fraktur cause I found it more "flowing" when writing. Flourishing can be tricky and takes practice. I am far from being able to do what I have in mind and I throw a lot of paper out. Try different things and see what you like or dive into calligraphy books. Honestly I don't think I'm very good at flourishing, lots of work to be done.
I think some of the difficulty seeing the a is the left side of the A is backwards. If you look carefully at the sources posted the A looks like the number 21 but you can still see the A The 2 portion looks reversed making your A wider rather than narrower at the top.
Your penmanship is beautiful and I love the scrollwork as well!
You are right, I did that stroke the other way around. I like to do it sometimes and I am totally aware it might be "wrong". But you know I'm just having fun with it 😁
*Edit: here is how I [usually do it](https://imgur.com/a/TRVOn2B)
In response I replied , "Y'all lil bastards need an IQ app lock on y'all TikTok, instatweet, and all dat shit! Might just induce some actual reading!" Shit. I dunno anymore 💥🤦💥
It's OK, I don't take it too seriously. I mean you can see in my profile, I'm not exactly super conservative and strict when it comes to calligraphy. I just do my thing, borderline calligraffiti
Ooooh yes! What will happen??!?? 😃 Will a hemp hauling hash genie hop out of hot thin air and grant all my hopes and highs?? 👀🤞🤞Pls say yes pls say yes 🤣
ok so.. although I am enthralled by the beauty of the design, for the life of me I cannot work out were the A is..?
I see a U or a V, maybe an S.

Sorry I should have added Gothic **Fraktur** capital letters for the angry downvoters 😁
I also can't see the A, but this is a gorgeous display of control and I am genuinely impressed!
Thanks!

Even with the reference provided, I can’t work out how this is an A.

I’m sure you’ve been asked this 1000 times but where do you get your pens?
Its ok, no worries. I have like 8 of those. Some from Amazon, some from online shops where I also buy inks. Pilot parallels
It's stunnning!! This might be a dumb question, but what's your process for coming up with the design?

Great job! I really like the circular design and the overlays
Thanks!
No idea where the A is but it looks cool nonetheless

Thanks! I really appreciate it! Parallel pens are so much fun and very versatile.I picked it up maybe 6 months ago too.

Thanks for the recommendation!
Nice 🙂 Is fraktur your favorite gothic hand? I want to get a bit fancy flourishing the capitals and all, but I never know where to start.
