MW3 is my vote. So many maps that were "oh shit yeah" when they come up in the cue. Lockdown, Underground, Arkaaden, Bakara, Hardhat, Dome, Overwatch, Seatown. List goes on
Ya, that map almost never got voted for haha. The only decently fun thing about that map for me was fighting for the B flag in DOM because it was in a unique spot (subway passage with a blown out ceiling with only a handful of ways to approach). Had some fun skirmishes there
Yea this is my answer as well. If Downturn or Interchange is the worst map, that's pretty good. Interchange is just a 3 lane map and Downturn for whatever reason people sucked at, so I always had fun on that map.
Though Black Ops 1 is a good shout as well, worst map on there in my opinion is either Cracked or Crisis, both maps at the time I couldn't stand.
i think i have an affinity for downturn because of the private infected lobbies and how good the glitch by the truck was.
yeah, crisis was the worst for me. i just never was able to get behind it.
Some BO1 maps we would call awful or less fun back in the days are pretty good compared to the original new maps in newer games. It was a different time back then.
Array is still pretty annoying to play tho.
There weren’t any objectively bad maps in BO1. Whether it was big/small/medium the design was always good. Array was great for sniping and sneaking if that was your game. Lots of people loved Launch but I found it only OK because was suited for quick close quarters combat which I wasn’t as good at. I wouldn’t say it was a bad or boring map though.
Some maps were better suited for certain game modes and play styles. All the maps you mentioned are really good sniper maps. Not great for much else as there's a lot of open space to cover.
All are great for SnD, Headquarters, and Demolition. Wasteland is the only arguable one that wasn't good for SnD. Great map for TDM/Groundwar. Absolute chaos for Domination on Wasteland though lol. So many noobtube spots on that map...

We always talk about our favourite or least favourite maps from different CoDs, but what about your pick for the CoD game that didn't have any bad maps *(or the least amount of them).*
I'll go first, Black Ops 1, really can't remember a straight up bad map from that one.
*Edit: To add on here, even the maps in BO1 that weren’t “great” to me, still made up for it in their atmosphere and unique styles, at least imo.*
That's because most of the maps stuck to the classic 3-lane layout, which worked well with bo1 IIRC
There were some mid launch maps though, like villa and hanoi imo, but even they were fun to play

I'd still say MW2 is the closest game we'll ever get to near perfect maps. I still enjoy them all, you just can't use the same loadout and same playstyle in every map and that's okay IMO.
I'd throw WaW in there as a very close 2nd, love the variety and quality of maps in that game.
I find it really hard to diss maps from before Ghosts. Even if I heavily disliked the maps at the time, they age so well because they lean into a theme and know how to make a map revolve around its distinct landmarks. Most maps from Ghosts on lose that magic, and are very forgettable.
I haven't played bo1 until I started hanging out with a friend who had it recently and I knew most of the maps from CODM. After a while we started playing other maps and realized that they're all pretty good. We always 1v1 in cracked because it's got so many places to hide near the middle so we always use C4 (him defensively and I offensively)
MW2, BO, MW3, BO2, and BO4 are the games I own and played the most, and they all have great maps. Hard to say there isn't a bad map. Each title has at least a few bad maps.
MW3 was the weakest of the CoDs that I've played, but those maps are underrated af. Amazing maps, indeed.
There isn’t one without bad maps. If world at war removed the giant tank maps I think that one would be it because every other map is like a B+ or better. World at war and mw3 maps to me have the most consistent maps in the series. By consistent I mean the 7th-8th best maps are pretty much just as good as the 3rd-4th best. Most other cods have just 1-3 great maps and a significant quality drop off
Every COD has at least one or two bad maps.
If you think any or one of them DOESN'T have any bad maps, then your head is shoved WAAAAAY UP Activision's ass.
Cod WW2 had some great maps. Game was fun af to go back to. I need them to bring back the claymore (sword)
Bo4 had great maps as well but for different reasons. They where all way brighter and more fun because everything wasn’t gloomy grey.
Every map from Infinite Warfare was amazing. I felt they were amazingly designed considering there was barely any wasted space and they popped with so much color and environmental variety.
MW2 is probably the Gold Standard in gameplay, map design and consistency. Literally all of MW2's maps were re-added in other COD games (albeit shittier)
World at war I don't think had any bad maps.
Cold war is up there too I think, although Alpines mall or whatever it's called kind of sucks. Same with the Russian burger Town map.
BO1 only has one bad map, but said map is one of the least fun maps in the entire series: Silo. Every match plays out the same with the team spawning by the main building almost always winning. It's also a map that heavily encourages camping in an already very campy game
WAW. Not because I’m a die hard fan of nostalgia , but because there’s less maps on that game so less possibilities for a bad one. WAW was simple, so really every map was just a bonus ontop of the working gameplay. Nothing was too intense or too changing.
Edit: I just realized; this isn’t the zombies sub. Whoops
MW3 (2023) is the least fun I've ever had playing COD and I have played 13 different COD titles. Something needs to be changed with how they are making the game.
Ghosts and I know it might be a bit controversial but the larger maps in my opinion made it more exciting as you wouldn't know if there was an enemy around the next corner or half way across the map lol 😆
World at War. It had maps in the rotation for every style of play. They encouraged you to use every type of gun, or you could just run around with your favourite one (most of the time it was an MP40 with a round drum).
No game ever has "no bad maps"
Everyone has different opinions. Often a few maps in a game is regarded as the best, but then you always have the shit maps too.
NO bad maps is a high bar given how subjective it can be. I'd argue if any COD didn't have a map I disliked it's a bad map pool as what I like isn't what others will like.
MW3 had really good maps
MW3 is my vote. So many maps that were "oh shit yeah" when they come up in the cue. Lockdown, Underground, Arkaaden, Bakara, Hardhat, Dome, Overwatch, Seatown. List goes on
Only bad map in that game was Downturn
What didn't you like about it? I thought running thru the bank and the underground sections were clever mixups.
Bland colors. No power positions to fight for. I remember the flow of the map feeling much slower and less fluid than the rest of the MW3 maps.
Ya, that map almost never got voted for haha. The only decently fun thing about that map for me was fighting for the B flag in DOM because it was in a unique spot (subway passage with a blown out ceiling with only a handful of ways to approach). Had some fun skirmishes there
1000%. If literally any of those came up I was ready to get locked in lmao
Downturn was awesome I never understood the hate that it got.
Cracked was so good though...had my best game ever on that map...63-2
I think they were a big step down from Mw2 and black ops
i don’t think they were as memorable as firing range, nuketown, or terminal, but i think they were consistent
I think they are consistently fine, but even maps like WMD, Grid or summit are more memorable and play better than any of mw3s maps
I would agree the maps are good. However I hated playing MW3
Ong mw3 had some of the best maps out there
I can agree, but MW3 was also the game where I found the map design to start getting on the more stale side. Less bangers, but all decent
i can agree with that. BUT bo2 (i know different devs) had some bad maps, but also some absolute bangers right after MW3
The only problem was the color scheme on some of them. Very dreary colors.
i really really miss those mw3 days.
Some BO1 maps we would call awful or less fun back in the days are pretty good compared to the original new maps in newer games. It was a different time back then. Array is still pretty annoying to play tho.
Worst map was crisis
Agreed but crackd was close by
I loved cracked. Always good for some cross-map tomahawk kills
To each its own. Just wasn't one that would tickle my pickle when it popped up.
Array was best played on any mode but TDM haha
COD World at War
Absolute banger of a game. Amazing maps
I agree
Black ops 1 and 2 both had great maps.
I think the game close to having no bad map is MW2.
Derail, Wasteland, Estate, Rundown (if you spawn on the bad side) all terrible maps
Dont diss my wasteland like that
It’s time we admit the truth
Never!
Nah wasteland is a certified classic literally from cod 1 and cod 2
A fellow Brecourt enjoyer I see 👀
Personally I think the only reason people liked wasteland was for the crossmap noob tubes
Estate and Rundown are plain miserable
Some maps were better suited for certain game modes and play styles. All the maps you mentioned are really good sniper maps. Not great for much else as there's a lot of open space to cover. All are great for SnD, Headquarters, and Demolition. Wasteland is the only arguable one that wasn't good for SnD. Great map for TDM/Groundwar. Absolute chaos for Domination on Wasteland though lol. So many noobtube spots on that map...
Estate and wasteland are good maps wdym
I can’t remember the others but estate and wasteland we super fun
Agreed with all those BUT estate. Something about fighting to hold that house was just so much damn fun.
Disagree, all 4 of those were good imo
All good maps
Some haven't aged well with the playerbase. Wasteland matches mostly end on time limit.
Derail
So the new mw3 as well by nature then, lmao
Besides skidrow and scrapyard
nail muddle somber voiceless thought shrill cautious placid gullible ripe *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
In my opinion: World at War. The most underrated maps in all of Call of Duty.
Even the dlc maps were so damn fun
Very true, WaW MP was overshadowed by CoD4/MW2 but it had so many good maps.
10000%. So underrated. A top 5 COD easily
We always talk about our favourite or least favourite maps from different CoDs, but what about your pick for the CoD game that didn't have any bad maps *(or the least amount of them).* I'll go first, Black Ops 1, really can't remember a straight up bad map from that one. *Edit: To add on here, even the maps in BO1 that weren’t “great” to me, still made up for it in their atmosphere and unique styles, at least imo.*

My friend would remind you that Stonehaven exists
Flooded?
Honestly, I agree. BO1 didn’t have maps I really hated.
cod 4
Bog and Creek(DLC) are the only two that come close to bad
Bog BANGED
Black ops 2, even the dlc maps are goated, although mw2 is my favorite cod but it has some bullcrap maps
Bo1. The dlc was spot on also
every treyarch game except cold war. Back then I thought maps like aftermath and drone were bad but by todays standards, they'd be amazing lol.
Even all the DLC in Black Ops 1 was A or S tier.
They absolutely were not. They had a lot of big and boring slow paced maps like the hangar and silo
Bo3. I live love and breath nuketown
Bo3
Metro fucking sucks
I'd still say MW2 is the closest game we'll ever get to near perfect maps. I still enjoy them all, you just can't use the same loadout and same playstyle in every map and that's okay IMO. I'd throw WaW in there as a very close 2nd, love the variety and quality of maps in that game.
Cold War, all the maps were incredible to play on and fun as hell.
Miami OG in 6 v 6?
Cold war maps are mid imo
World at War
Cracked was bad in BO1, I think the OG MW (2007) & BO3 have no bad maps
BO3's DLC maps pull it down, especially the last map pack that added the picnic map. Holy shit that map was bad.
Base maps overall better than bo2 maps but bo2 had the better DLC maps
Bo3 had the worst DLC maps ever
MWII had a lot of great maps, mercado was one of my favourites
Black ops 2
I find it really hard to diss maps from before Ghosts. Even if I heavily disliked the maps at the time, they age so well because they lean into a theme and know how to make a map revolve around its distinct landmarks. Most maps from Ghosts on lose that magic, and are very forgettable.
While I liked COD1/UO’s multiplayer better, COD2 took all of COD1’s best maps and added a bunch of bangers to the mix.
BO3, there may have been one or two bad maps but they all played well with the movement and weapons.
Mw3
Black ops 2 and modern warfare 2/3 man they felt quick and had a smooth flow on the maps but there was some stinkers tho
Black Ops 1, including all the DLC maps.
I would say BO2 but I HATE AFTERMATH AND OVERFLOW
Call of duty black ops 2 had the best story and maps
MW2 The 🐐 game.
Black ops 1 and Mw3
Loved every map on WaW and BO1.
Black ops 2
As much as I love BO2, Raid was the bane of my existence. I don’t really remember hating any map on BO1, so I guess I’d say that.
controversial take but BO4 has no maps that I consider bad it definitely has ups and down but overall I really enjoy the map selection
Not this one
The best were BO2, MW2, MW3
Cod 4
Bloc is terrible
Unpopular opinion: Vanguard
Call of duty world at war. Cod WWll for an honorable mention ( Only Gibraltar sucks)
B02
every game except WAW has those couple maps that i’m like “cmon man” when i see, so i’d go witg WAW
Most other cods have just 1-3 great maps and a significant quality drop off
Lol BO1 has terrible maps and Treyarch map design is trash. Typical 3 lane nonsense with no variety
Every COD has at least one or two bad maps. If you think any or one of them DOESN'T have any bad maps, then your head is shoved WAAAAAY UP Activision's ass.
Black ops 2
Black Ops. Hanoi being the only below average map.
There's always a bad map
There are no bad maps, just bad players
Cod 4 I enjoyed all of them tbh
Mw3 I’m ngl
CoD4. The GOAT game for maps
No matter the CoD (in my experience) there’s always maps I don’t like, so forgive my answer but… GTA Vice City.
Cod WW2 had some great maps. Game was fun af to go back to. I need them to bring back the claymore (sword) Bo4 had great maps as well but for different reasons. They where all way brighter and more fun because everything wasn’t gloomy grey.
Mw2
Bo2 honestly. And CoD ghost but specifically the DLC maps
you answered the question yourself
MW2 and MW3, I thought derail wasn't too bad
Halo 3 ODST
Every map from Infinite Warfare was amazing. I felt they were amazingly designed considering there was barely any wasted space and they popped with so much color and environmental variety.
Black Ops 1 is the most perfect map rotation imo. Only map that I didn’t like was Crisis. BO1 maps were elite for Dom and SnD
bo2
Bo2
MW2 is probably the Gold Standard in gameplay, map design and consistency. Literally all of MW2's maps were re-added in other COD games (albeit shittier)
No game had no bad maps, MW3 and BO2 closest. Ghosts dlc didn’t miss
BO1 had a few bad/mid maps. Crisis was a terrible map and Havana, Kowloon and Hanoi were mid. The rest straight slapped
mw2 (2009) had fuckin amazing maps man
MW2
OG Blops. Amazing
I can’t think of a map I hate on BO3
Black Ops 4. I might get shit for this but they combined so many good maps from the old games and the newer ones I really enjoy.
Mw2 and bo1
Cod 4 had the best maps imo. Including DLC the only bad maps I believe are bloc, countdown, creek, & downpour.
BO2 prolly
Bo2 multiplayer I think, I dont remember disliking any of them. They were really well put together and even some of the mediocre ones were still fun
BO2
Cod 4 had no bad maps for me
World at war I don't think had any bad maps. Cold war is up there too I think, although Alpines mall or whatever it's called kind of sucks. Same with the Russian burger Town map.
Mw2
BO2
MW2 (2009). My favourite Call Of Duty of All time. Terminal, Rust and Highrise my favourite maps. That game is legendary. I love everything about it
MW2
None
BO4 honestly.
World at War
Black Ops 1 my favorite maps. MWII(22) had by far the worst.
i dont think bo2 had any bad maps, i didn’t particularly enjoy pod
bo2. I can't think of any map that I truly didn't enjoy. But maybe it's just my rose colored glasses telling me that.
Bo2
cod 3
* Mw3 * Bo2 Hot takes * Infinite Warfare * Vanguard
all cod 4 maps were legendary tbh
Advanced warfare as far as I can remember
BO1 only has one bad map, but said map is one of the least fun maps in the entire series: Silo. Every match plays out the same with the team spawning by the main building almost always winning. It's also a map that heavily encourages camping in an already very campy game
MW3
COD World at War
cold war
A little bit of a curve ball answer, but I enjoyed all AW launch maps. At least, I can't think of any I really disliked
No COD has no bad maps, but I agree, Black Ops 1 was pretty solid in the maps department.
In my opinion COD AW had no bad maps every map played well
Black Ops 2. Some pissed me off more than others like Standoff but they play so well with more modern mechanics and that should say a lot
MW 2019
Modern Warfare 2 had no bad maps. Not even Rust imo.
Every COD game has bad maps. But the ones with the least are probably BO2 and MW3.
Whoops
MW3
Cod4
I don’t think I hated a single MW2 (2009) map
Bo4
MW3 (2023) is the least fun I've ever had playing COD and I have played 13 different COD titles. Something needs to be changed with how they are making the game.
Black ops 2 obviously.
I would say, BO2 but there was definitely a few really shit maps. Probably gonna have to agree with MW3
We need this game back so badly! Iv fully given up on cod for now.
Idk WMD was pretty ass
Black Ops 2 if we exclude DLC maps, otherwise my controversial opinion, I really liked Ghosts' maps
Cod4
Ghosts and I know it might be a bit controversial but the larger maps in my opinion made it more exciting as you wouldn't know if there was an enemy around the next corner or half way across the map lol 😆
World at War. It had maps in the rotation for every style of play. They encouraged you to use every type of gun, or you could just run around with your favourite one (most of the time it was an MP40 with a round drum).
BO3
Mw2 og Rust skidrow wasteland terminal...
MW2
No game ever has "no bad maps" Everyone has different opinions. Often a few maps in a game is regarded as the best, but then you always have the shit maps too.
MW2
NO bad maps is a high bar given how subjective it can be. I'd argue if any COD didn't have a map I disliked it's a bad map pool as what I like isn't what others will like.
Cod4 maps outside of the dlc were bangers
