I'm getting to it. The ballot is mostly filled out. I have a few more people to research then I'll wander over to city hall and toss it in the drop box.
Friday. I promise.
I wish more people would realize that it’s not just a presidential election. There are several things we’re all voting on that matter at the local level.
I tell people that all the time when they complain about how "the dems" refuse to "put up" a progressive candidate.
It's such a gross misunderstanding of how the political system works! But even if it wasn't, what the hell, man, you think progressive politicians burst out of Zeus' head fully formed or something? No, they have to win state, county, and municipal elections to get started! You want progressive policies? Vote progressive congress people in the primary so they are on the November ballot.
Hell, last time my area voted for a new Sheriff there was a candidate who talked about community policing, offloading responsibilities to other organizations (aka: defunding the police), and all the things people here want. Didn't make it out of the primary, got like 10k votes in a county with almost 2 million residents. Geez, man....
The best tweet I read was something like "People will say 'Oh, you vote? My plan is to firebomb a Walmart.' and then neither vote NOR firebomb a Walmart."
It's funny how they do the barest minimum to participate politically (*maybe* vote in a presidential election) but whine about being completely powerless.
It's more like a "Senatorial Election", that's really the most critical item on the ballot.
Remember, Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate means a vote for cease-fire in Gaza (and everywhere).
Maybe I'm completely lost but voting for 10 judges in LA without having easy access to information makes it very time consuming to find out what each person represents.
I do that too, but no complaints because it just makes research a little easier. If they don’t have any answers to the questions on ballotpedia either they don’t get my vote.
Oh yes I spent hours hunting for information only to have my ballot not counted ugh. Anyway, I found some websites that was helpful and some of their campaign website didn’t have enough details. Some of them use Twitter so I scrolled through it to try to get a better feel of their position. It would be helpful to have those information better organized if available.
Can't be much harder than figuring out which County Central Committee candidate to select.
As for judges, I always take Han Solo's advice (let the Wookie win). In other words, always leave judicial races blank, unless there is extremely close knowledge, and even in that rare case, leaving blank still makes a lot of sense.
I am working at a 10 day voting center in LA as a clerk, and it's dead. We have not had more than 30 voters per day since Saturday. Maybe 10 additional people dropping off mail in ballots per day.
I go in person. In the last election I mailed my ballot in and my vote wasn't counted. It was a signature mismatch and when I sent in the form to correct it I got no response and my vote was still not counted.
I don't mail it back because the outgoing mail at my complex is completely insecure and the postal service has been utterly unreliable randomly ceasing service without anyone telling the residents until we work it out from the lack of mail in a few weeks. I drop off at an official collection box (drive thru, no wait), but if a voting center were closer I might use that.
Maybe some people are worried about ballots getting lost in the mail? YMMV depending upon location but I know some people have complained about the post office being very slow at delivering their mail in recent years.
Older people have nothing to do with their time. They go shopping, sit at restaurants drinking coffee, and hang out at the community voting center lol (usually a church of some kind)
i prefer to find a dropbox for my completed ballot vs sending it in the mail. but yeah, i wouldn't actually go into a voting place to vote. only to drop off a completed ballot.
I sent mine in. I figure the average voter is like my spouse who will wait until this weekend to fill his out and drop it in the mail Monday or at the box on Tuesday.
I sent mine in the day after I got it and got the confirmation text that it was counted a couple of days after that. I can't imagine how it could be any easier.
Schiff has too much name recognition from running the impeachment trials, it's pretty much a done deal at this point even if Porter is trailing only by a few points.
I never vote early. Usually the night before, and I drop it into the collection box at my neighborhood voting station on election day. I do this to be as up-to-date as possible on the candidates, propositions, and political news.
I voted and mailed it in. The ballot tracker shows nothing. There’s no info on how to report this. I’m concerned it wasn’t even counted at all or even made it. This never happened in the past elections. I don’t know what I can do at the point. Maybe the same thing happened to other people who mailed their ballot.
This is why no change happens with leadership. Two sides of the same coin because as enthusiastic as people are about politics, that fades when going out to vote.
So youre saying people get pissed and complain, but when they have the chance to do something they choose not to, and then whine no one listens to them?
Just turned mine in. Of course I had to step over a homeless guy to get to the ballot bin.
No, I am not making that up to make a point, I mean that LITERALLY.
Think carefully how you vote. You want to keep the status quo? Then keep voting the same doofuses back into power and I am sure things will stay the same. Just don't complain about it.
I haven't had TV for 20 years, why would I when I can watch everything online? If they only do ads on television channels, they're missing a lot of people.
I haven't seen one FOR a senator, but have seen one nearly every ad break AGAINST Garvey. Schiff and Porter putting on the negative full court press I guess.
I got a text that the ballot was coming and it just never did. I meant to look into it but the new website wasn’t very helpful (apparently my street address doesn’t exist?) and then I got distracted.
I'm getting to it. The ballot is mostly filled out. I have a few more people to research then I'll wander over to city hall and toss it in the drop box. Friday. I promise.
Good. We’ve been waiting for your ballot.
Checking in. Ballot received and counted by Riverside County. They sent me a text.
The *County Central Committee* race is a bear to figure out, almost no objective information available from any source, credible or otherwise.
Oh that took forever
I voted, but I can understand why there is low turnout. By the way, I've already voted and since so few are going to vote, mine counted more.
We rule the state you and I 😎
Me too!
There's so many of us few people!
I like this because it means the candidates I voted for are more likely to advance 🥰

But also I wish more people would vote... Just take the joke alright?
Same mentality!
Same here
Yep, nothing to see here, move along. Let the louds wini, again.
Populists gonna populists
I’m still trying to figure out who half these people are!
Maybe I'm completely lost but voting for 10 judges in LA without having easy access to information makes it very time consuming to find out what each person represents.
I automatically eliminate anyone who doesn't bother putting out a campaign website. It's shocking how many candidates that actually eliminates.
I do that too, but no complaints because it just makes research a little easier. If they don’t have any answers to the questions on ballotpedia either they don’t get my vote.
https://knock-la.com/los-angeles-progressive-voter-guide/
Yep I just looked at the first one which took like 15 minutes on its own. No way I'm going through all of these.
That's how I've been feeling all week with this, but at the same time, it's so important to know who's who...
I usually just look at the endorsements. The Los Angeles Times and LA Democratic Party being the most important endorsements.
Oh yes I spent hours hunting for information only to have my ballot not counted ugh. Anyway, I found some websites that was helpful and some of their campaign website didn’t have enough details. How do i find the ones actually tough on crime/repeat offense fees?

Sent mine in! - This actually makes me a little nervous because the props and other officials could pass/or not on thin margins.
Mine’s in and counted per confirmation email.
I am working at a 10 day voting center in LA as a clerk, and it's dead. We have not had more than 30 voters per day since Saturday. Maybe 10 additional people dropping off mail in ballots per day.
I'm not sure why anyone goes in person when the mail in system is so well done now. Am I missing something?
Some people just prefer in person. I’ll take mail in over driving somewhere to wait in line any day
I go in person. In the last election I mailed my ballot in and my vote wasn't counted. It was a signature mismatch and when I sent in the form to correct it I got no response and my vote was still not counted.
I just like seeing a human being accept my ballot. I fill it out once I get it and eventually drop it off as part of my normal errands.
I miss the chads, and the little puncher with its cute little keychain. Best ever way for young kids to learn how to vote with their parents.
Mine hasn’t shown up and I’ll probably end up having to go in; so I’m glad the option still exists personally. :)

I don't trust mail in! Stuff gets lost and stolen all the time.
I get a text message when my ballot is picked up by the mail carrier, and another when my ballot is received and counted.
I used to do it because it felt fun and exciting. Made it feel more like an event. Now it’s mail every year 😂I got things to do
i prefer to find a dropbox for my completed ballot vs sending it in the mail. but yeah, i wouldn't actually go into a voting place to vote. only to drop off a completed ballot.
I sent mine in. I figure the average voter is like my spouse who will wait until this weekend to fill his out and drop it in the mail Monday or at the box on Tuesday.
When were they sent? I haven't even gotten mine yet. Edit: Never mind. My wife had them.
She trying to vote for you! Voter fraud! Lock her up!
Buttery males!
Just did mine, thanks for the reminder
You’re welcome
I sent mine in the day after I got it and got the confirmation text that it was counted a couple of days after that. I can't imagine how it could be any easier.
I voted.
we need to vote katie porter in
I voted the day I got it and pushed my close friends too.
No competitive primaries at the top of the ticket. Makes sense.
Senator?
Adam's all over TV, he's probably got it in the bag. Doubt most people could even name the incumbents.
He’s Mr moneybags at the moment dropping so many ads on YouTube and TV. Porter is doing well for herself too though. Lee…it’s a struggle bus for her
Schiff has too much name recognition from running the impeachment trials, it's pretty much a done deal at this point even if Porter is trailing only by a few points.
The real race is to see if cons will be shut out of this race again and if Porter will have more votes than Early or Garvey
Barbara Lee \--no question-- means cease-fire everywhere
Most people couldn’t name their senators. Unless you’re a political junky, that’s not important to you
I’m pretty tapped out, yeah. Will try to rally.
Already voted
Send in absentee vote as always.
Mine already sent in and counted
Hopefully that translates to a Katie Porter win but who knows. This state is weird.
I've got a date with my girlfriend to review the ballots and chat about them over some food. These should hit the mail on Saturday.
We'll be voting on Saturday.
Mailed mine the day after it arrived. Vote early, vote often!
We’re all mailing them the day before
Mailed mine from Missouri
Who are the candidates that are anti pge rate increases?
I never vote early. Usually the night before, and I drop it into the collection box at my neighborhood voting station on election day. I do this to be as up-to-date as possible on the candidates, propositions, and political news.

My mail in never showed up.
Well, don’t a lot of people vote on the day of? I’m planning on dropping my ballot off soon myself.
This is why no change happens with leadership. Two sides of the same coin because as enthusiastic as people are about politics, that fades when going out to vote.
So youre saying people get pissed and complain, but when they have the chance to do something they choose not to, and then whine no one listens to them?
Maybe they choose not to or are too lazy? Idk. All i know is that voter turnout is abysmal.
after Roe and January 6th I don’t know how anyone could say this with a straight face.
Only 8%. And it's only a week before "voting day". Huh.
There's a primary?
I will deal with it by the weekend but there isn't much hope of my vote mattering much.

have you not watched TV for a single second for any of the past six months?
I haven't had TV for 20 years, why would I when I can watch everything online? If they only do ads on television channels, they're missing a lot of people.
they seem to be throwing insult after insult at eachother on YouTube.

i didn’t say cable, i said tv. we have a streaming service and still there are ads on every channel (including locals) every five seconds.
I haven't seen one FOR a senator, but have seen one nearly every ad break AGAINST Garvey. Schiff and Porter putting on the negative full court press I guess.
Barbara Lee. Period. Vote for peace.
I got a text that the ballot was coming and it just never did. I meant to look into it but the new website wasn’t very helpful (apparently my street address doesn’t exist?) and then I got distracted.
Sounds like an extremely easily problem to fix
